Huh. I've been thinking about switching from a 360 controller to a DS3 for PC games, I've actually always got on fine with the wireless 360 pad and the crossfire adaptor, but I liked the idea of dropping the dongle and going with bluetooth for laptop use. I couldn't get motioninjoy to recognise my dual shock at all though, and didn't try long before giving up. Maybe I'll go back to it and try updating my BT drivers or something.
― JimD, Monday, 9 February 2015 11:58 (nine years ago) link
Oh wait were you using the DS3 wired instead of wireless? I guess it's probably easier that way but it'd be a step backwards from what I'm using already.
― JimD, Monday, 9 February 2015 12:01 (nine years ago) link
Yeah I'm using it wired. Baby steps. I probably should get a BT dongle and try that but not yet. It hasn't been completely chill. DS3Tool doesn't work sometimes but all I have to do is restart and it seems to fix things.

It can connect via Bluetooth quite easily if your over has that capability

Does the PS4 controller work in this way? I don't like the PS3 one very much.
― polyphonic, Monday, 9 February 2015 18:48 (nine years ago) link
the best thing about the PS4 is you can route all audio out via the dualshock.

South Park: The Stick of Truth got a permanent price drop to $5 on PSN. That's probably cheap enough for me to add to the backlog, but is it cheap enough for me to accept the idiotic racism? I'm not sure...

I picked up Klonoa, BOF IV and the Wild Arms games just for kicks. No idea if any of them are good or hold up todayhmm. tempted to get Persona 4 but considering my aborted intentions to even start Persona 3...

I love Katamari so much that I bought the Vita-compatible Katamari games when they were on sale, despite the fact that I do not yet own a Vita.
I love Katamari so much that I bought Noby Noby Boy sight unseen and without hesitation. Maybe not the best choice I've ever made.

Wild Arms and Suikoden really helped define the PS1 era to me. I never played the later games in either series but supposedly the quality largely held up.
― fields of salmon, Thursday, 26 March 2015 01:26 (nine years ago) link
Suikoden 3 is supposedly the best, but I got distracted during my playthru and dropped off.
Jumped on Person 4 for $5.
― The Thin Blue Slime (kingfish), Thursday, 26 March 2015 07:35 (nine years ago) link
Idk if I'd say Suiko3 is the best. For me it goes something like 1>2>5>3>4. Popular opinion is probably like 2>(1 or 3)>5>4.

Question: does anyone know if there's a way to download the actual files for P.T. before it's deleted from the PSN store for people who don't yet have a PS4? I'd really like to download it to a USB drive or something as I was planning on picking up a PS4 sometime late this year. It seems asinine to not just cancel the project but scrub a widely-admired demo from the internet...
― You guys are caterpillar (Telephone thing), Monday, 27 April 2015 15:40 (nine years ago) link
I don't know for sure how it will work in this case, but usually when a game is removed from PSN they still keep a copy up on the servers for people who previously bought the game so they can redownload it. So you can go to the PSN web store and "buy" the demo & checkout without owning a PS4, and this should tie a license to "redownload" the demo in the future to your PSN account. Of course Konami may want to wipe the existence of the game entirely and insist that no redownloads are allowed, and as no money has changed hands maybe the rules governing this may differ, but I doubt it.
― ( X '____' )/ (zappi), Monday, 27 April 2015 15:53 (nine years ago) link
Thanks for reminding me, I went and checked it out.
― Nhex, Monday, 27 April 2015 15:59 (nine years ago) link
once you "buy" it, you should be able to redownload it whenever you want from your "purchase history" later on
OK, cool. I was hoping that was the case and did it yesterday when this whole clusterfuck was announced, but I wasn't sure if it would stick around if I hadn't downloaded it once already. We'll see, I guess.
― You guys are caterpillar (Telephone thing), Monday, 27 April 2015 16:13 (nine years ago) link
hmmm apparently you can't redownload PT even if you 'bought' it, looks like Konami are going to pretend it never existed :/

― You guys are caterpillar (Telephone thing), Wednesday, 6 May 2015 12:22 (nine years ago) link

Would anyone like a free download voucher for Metal Gear Solid? I just picked up the "legacy collection" compilation with the goal of catching up and being at least semi-ready for MGS V before 2020, and unless it's bundled with VR Missions (which I don't have) as a single code, I should have an extra copy of the first game to give away...

It's kind of wild, looking back, that there was a (terrible, I assume?) trilogy of reboot Spyro games in 2006-2008, with Elijah Wood as Spyro, various voices as Sparx (David Spade! Billy West!), various voices as the villain-turned-friend Cynder (Cree Summer! Mae Whitman! Christina Ricci!!!), Gary Oldman and Mark Hamill.

After getting through the Burned Lands and the Floating Islands, Spyro and Cynder arrive at Malefor's Lair and confront him. Malefor taunts Spyro by telling him that the destiny of all purple dragons is to bring about the world's destruction, to which Spyro denies. During the confrontation, the evil dragon releases the green chain that tethered Spyro and Cynder together throughout their trials, then corrupts Cynder back to his cause. Cynder attacks Spyro, only to break free from Malefor's control when Spyro refused to fight and stated that he has left Cynder nothing to fight for. Angered by this turn of events, Malefor binds Spyro and Cynder together once again to kill them both before beginning their battle airborne. As Spyro and Cynder fly after Malefor, the Destroyer completes its circle, marking the end of the world. The three dragons fall into the volcano the Destroyer had entered, and after fighting with Malefor, Spyro and Cynder plummet into the center of the earth as they continue their battle. Malefor proclaimed that he is eternal, unable to be defeated, but is then sealed away in the world's core by the spirits of the Ancestors. Despite Malefor's defeat, the world is still falling apart. As Spyro and Cynder wonder if this is indeed the end, Ignitus' spirit returns and gives Spyro hope. With the chain that bound them together broken with Malefor's defeat, Spyro tells Cynder to flee while he stops the catastrophe, but she refuses to leave him. As Spyro prepares to unleash a powerful Fury wave, Cynder verbally reveals that she loves him. The world is rebuilt by Spyro's magic, and we last see the remaining Guardians, Hunter, Sparx, and the survivors emerging from underground into the setting sun as stars in the sky formed into the figure of a dragon.
