if there was anything there at all marinelli would've hung on to him at dallas. he was a late draft pick probably shouldn't have been drafted, i don't think there is any reason to look for other reasons if he doesn't make it. it is possible that a team might've been put off from even bringing him in to take a look but really after being cut by stl there's nowhere better he could've hoped to have hit a practice squad than the cowboys.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:44 (nine years ago) link

I don't think any owner or coach at this stage is afraid to take on a gay player, because the NFL is all about $$$ and buzz. Sam just isn't ready yet (and his window will probably close by the end of the 2015 season).

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 24 February 2015 16:45 (nine years ago) link

yeah I'm kinda feeling shades of Tebow here, if he was an NFL-caliber player there's no doubt he would be on a team.

the mystery of it is def alluring. did shefty really say he's been working on this story since September? and hes not actually seen any vid? not sure how it could be kept so quiet for so long if it's legit as inflammatory as is alleged

To be honest with you, I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I was expecting the ball. Yes, I was expecting the ball. But in life, these things happen. Like I told a reporter after the game, it's a team sport.
"I had no problem with the decision of the playcalling. I mean, you know ... I think it was more of a ... how do I say this? When you look at me, and you let me run that ball in ... I am the face of the nation. You know, MVP of the Super Bowl ... that's pretty much the face of the nation at that point of time. I don't know what went into that call. I mean, maybe it was a good thing that I didn't get the ball. I mean, you know, it cost us the Super Bowl. I mean, I have full ... I have full confidence in my teammates to execute that plan because we've done it so many more times. But would I love to had the ball in? Yes, I would have.
"But the game is over, and I am in Turkey."

@NBCdianna
If the Lions can't agree to a long term extension with Ndamukong Suh, the Hatcats are interested per sources with the organization.

mookieproof, Monday, 2 March 2015 21:50 (nine years ago) link

i, for one, am shocked by this development

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 2 March 2015 22:00 (nine years ago) link

for sure: how long has nbc been calling the cowboys the hatcats?

Well at least if the Hatcats end up paying Suh they are getting a player in his prime unlike the cash the Snyd put into Bruce Smith and Neon at the end of their careers.

earlnash, Monday, 2 March 2015 23:17 (nine years ago) link

haynesworth best hatcat deal ever

men without hat tips (Hunt3r), Tuesday, 3 March 2015 00:28 (nine years ago) link

I think Suh has a bit more pride than Haynesworth, he wants to be great. Suh is many things, but I don't recall him ever being called a dead fish or a guy that takes lots of plays off.

earlnash, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 04:33 (nine years ago) link

It would be a ballsier and way more expensive move for Mike Brown ever to attempt, but I would think if you put Suh on the Bengals line with what they already got, that defense would be flat out scary.

earlnash, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 04:38 (nine years ago) link

Really just about ANY club could use Suh, it's just who is going to pony up the cash. i think the only question is does Suh fit into a 3-4 as well as a 4-3. That I don't know but I would like to hear from a defensive coach to say.

earlnash, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 04:41 (nine years ago) link

my uneducated guess is he's talented enough to play end in a 3-4 if a team wanted to try to put him in that scheme

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 04:50 (nine years ago) link

wonder if the pats try and make a run at suh or if they just save their cash for revis island

slothroprhymes, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 04:59 (nine years ago) link

i can't think of a scenario in which they have interest in suh

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 05:02 (nine years ago) link

It's hard to say, it seems like some speed rushers do really well going from a 4-3 to a 3-4. I doubt that Suh has rarely dropped back into coverage in Detroit and a 3-4 end definitely drops back to cover people at some point.

My guess is that Suh is such a physical beast, it probably doesn't really matter where you put him on the line as you got to get two guys on him.

earlnash, Tuesday, 3 March 2015 06:16 (nine years ago) link

seems like a salary dump first and foremost bc mccoy was meh by his previous standards but not like, really bad - who they clearing cap space for

yeah i can't form a more coherent thought than this

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 01:58 (nine years ago) link

1. i'm high on shady, mediocre season or not
2. the 2014 bills were a 9 win team with a top five defense
3. awesome wrapped f-250 or whatever

Maybe in 100 years someone will say damn Dawn was dope. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 02:01 (nine years ago) link

I'd say chip is the kind of a coach who needs to be given a pretty free hand. He may fail or he may succeed, but if it isn't on his own terms he will almost certainly fail, so you may as well hand him the reins and see where he takes you. It may take him a couple of tries in the nfl to get the hang of it, but his whole value is his willingness to experiment.

Aimless, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 02:04 (nine years ago) link

xp a 9 win team with a top-5 defense is still their exact ceiling.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 02:06 (nine years ago) link

combined winning percentage of 2015 opponents is .480, only five playoff teams, ten wins doesn't seem out of the question to me.

ive watched a little of the pre-season, so eager ive been for the season to start. ive been immediately reminded that in football, with its requirement of complete commitment and utter disregard for personal safety, a non-competitive game hardly resembles the real thing. if youre literally paying 5 bux then of course you should go, you can always leave early.

corbyn's gallus (jim in glasgow), Friday, 14 August 2015 20:36 (eight years ago) link

if the stadium was right there and it was no more than $20 i would rock up for a preseason game and leave at halftime, especially game 2 or 3. however, foxboro is a giant pain in the ass to get to and i think preseason tix start at $40 for the shitty seats.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 14 August 2015 20:51 (eight years ago) link

yeah these seats are being sold second hand, when you buy seasons tickets you have to buy preseason tickets also and alot of ppl just unload them for whatever they can get.
