You have 20 min and you want to get in touch with your inner thoughts? I think this is one of the most dynamic of the PV epics, about to get a dueling reissue this year!

Lots of electronic dance music on the list but surely not many come more epic than this David Holmes remix of the Sabres classic

It's too bad the Lee Ranaldo piece I nominated, Ambient Loop for Vancouver, isn't on Youtube. It's a really amazing piece of work, epic in every sense.

gamelan, cathedral organ, and choral exaltations and laments from the climax to possibly the greatest soundtrack of all time. no anime interest necessary.

Hoedh - Heilige (Sophisme Sonores)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzTLepPG3mE
Deeply sad and beautiful ambient from 1993.
If someone knows anything similar to this I'd greatly appreciate it.

Nice! Shortlisted on my ballot now.
Tracks that I've discovered from the Spotify playlist:
Les Rallizes Denudes - The Last OneA lot more sedate than I expected LRD to be (was thinking more along the lines of Mainliner or High Rise).
SubRosa - The UsherA heavy, less psych/more space Bardo Pond with male+female vox, with some kinda Irish(????) flutey deal.
Ex Easter Island Head - Mallet Guitars 3
International Harvester - I Mourn You

Carla Bley is a big name, but I feel like a lot of people might not have heard her '3/4, For Piano And Orchestra', which isn't on Spotify or even on CD. it's a sidelong orchestrated jazz piece, reminiscent of Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra album (which she appeared on a few years earlier)

another one that isn't on Spotify is 'Calypso' by S.O.S. (John Surman - Mike Osborne - Alan Skidmore). avant-garde sax trio + minimal Tangerine Dream-style sequencers. cosmic as fuck.

it's too bad Wendy Carlos's 'Aurora Borealis' isn't on youtube or spotify (probably because she is a relentless copyright troll). it's her mid-'80s attempt at a Tangerine Dream-style epic, and it's just as good as any of the 500 TD tracks that have already been nominated.

Damn, Drugs, these are both great, esp. Skordetider's pungent, woozy hotness.

Francis the Great - Look Up in the Sky
Super obscure early 80s afrofunk LP, just got re-issued a few weeks ago for the first time I believe. Doran actually showed this to me on FB. The indelible vibe here is that of Fela Kuti doing Sesame Street.

"I Can See the Sun in Late December" by Roberta Flack (and written by Stevie Wonder)... Here's a singer and a genre that's not generally known for 10+ minute workouts, but if there's such a thing psychedelic quiet storm, this is it. Amazing soul mood piece!

Btw, if anyone can tell what electronic (or rap) track samples the wordless vocals that start 1:12, I'd be eternally grateful! This has been bugging me for a long time.

Indoor Life - Voodoo
1981 Indoor Life album is kind of like a no wave version of Tin Drum. This is the first song: a fourteen-minute boat trip through all sorts of psychedelic noise and dubbed out synth punk.

The Fall - Backdrop
One of the great 'lost' Fall tracks. Never released on a proper album, this song is p much a staple a bunch of their 82/83 shows. No idea why it never made it on Perverted or if they even attempted to record it in the studio.
