who is the object of Madbum's correction?

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 29 April 2015 16:15 (eight years ago) link

alex guerrero, who had a completely routine pop flyout, did not do any of the stuff that usually gets his unwritten-rule-loving ass hot under the tractor

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 16:17 (eight years ago) link

<3 madbum i don't care

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 17:10 (eight years ago) link

i mean he fills the "asshole but he's our asshole" role that almost every team needs, not to mention pretty good at the whole pitching thing

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 17:14 (eight years ago) link

oh God:

http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2015/4/29/8514889/madison-bumgarner-alex-guerrero

Deadspin helpfully points out through their lip-reading expertise that Bumgarner said, "You're not that fucking good, man. You're not that fucking good," apparently taking offense to Guerrero pirouetting as if he just missed a 450-foot homer.

One of my self-appointed specialties is grading unwritten rules. This falls under that jurisdiction. What we have here is a Dodgers player acting like he should have crushed a pitch that wasn't exactly down the middle, but one that he did just miss. We have some truths, here...

I totally understand where Bum is coming from (although I get why some people don't care for it.) Basically this rookie who hasn't earned anything yet, is trying to act like Bumgarner just got away with a pitch that he should be hitting into the bullpen. I guess I am old school but rookies shouldn't be doing that.

nope still not coming back but wanted to fix what happened.

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 April 2015 02:05 (eight years ago) link

Yeah, not really believing in Vogelsong this season.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 30 April 2015 02:35 (eight years ago) link

xp the article is so much more measured! i think it's more of an "ahhhh, shit" move that guerrero made but w/e to each his/her own

Keep getting them out and chuckle quietly to yourself. There are so many bat flips in this world, so many actual slights. You don't need to look for perceived slights. It's a long season. Your blood pressure, Madison. Think about your blood pressure.

bat flips aren't slights AT ALL but i think that's brisbee being silly to make a point. the last graph is prob the best way to look at it.

Bumgarner doesn't suffer fools lightly. Another way to say that is that he is a Grade-A redass, probably the red-assiest player we've seen since Jeff Kent. It makes me roll my eyes. It makes me smile.

slothroprhymes, Thursday, 30 April 2015 19:28 (eight years ago) link

tbh MadBum is kinda embarrassing.

A-Hanisi Coates (Leee), Thursday, 30 April 2015 20:45 (eight years ago) link

fuck him and the horse he rode in on

polyphonic, Thursday, 30 April 2015 20:46 (eight years ago) link

Yeah he really embarrassed the Giants last October.

schwantz, Thursday, 30 April 2015 22:02 (eight years ago) link

it's okay we have Hunter Pence, the ying to madbum's yang.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 30 April 2015 22:08 (eight years ago) link

Andy K, Friday, 1 May 2015 00:15 (eight years ago) link

After much deliberation, I have decided to unveil my new DN.

Madison Dumbbarfer (Leee), Friday, 1 May 2015 17:44 (eight years ago) link

An enemy or home team player's personality is generally a nonissue for me, unless we're talking a mouthy princess like Cole Hamels.

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Friday, 1 May 2015 17:48 (eight years ago) link

i enjoy the "odious" personalities when they upset fans/media for not having "class" or whatever.

brimstead, Friday, 1 May 2015 20:23 (eight years ago) link

madbum's transformation into (roid?) raging hulkamaniac is pretty awesome

brimstead, Friday, 1 May 2015 20:25 (eight years ago) link

lol the lacking class part is nbd as far as im concerned - the issue is the unwritten rule horseshit, that's so petty, not to mention if you're trying to be macho pettiness sort of cuts that right down

slothroprhymes, Friday, 1 May 2015 20:27 (eight years ago) link

(not that you /should/ try and be ubermacho but like if that's his goal idk seems like doing it wrong)

slothroprhymes, Friday, 1 May 2015 20:28 (eight years ago) link

wait people hate madbum now?

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Friday, 1 May 2015 20:31 (eight years ago) link

haha not hate he's just been going 0 to 100 real quick in baseball redass mode in a couple of back to back incidents

slothroprhymes, Friday, 1 May 2015 20:33 (eight years ago) link

i don't hate him i just wanted to say the horse thing

polyphonic, Friday, 1 May 2015 20:34 (eight years ago) link

hot heads are fun!

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Friday, 1 May 2015 20:36 (eight years ago) link

#wegonnabechampionship (Spottie), Friday, 1 May 2015 20:37 (eight years ago) link

Don't walk back that horse, man.

Madison Dumbbarfer (Leee), Friday, 1 May 2015 21:10 (eight years ago) link

It's called dressage, leee

polyphonic, Friday, 1 May 2015 21:13 (eight years ago) link

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Friday, 1 May 2015 21:34 (eight years ago) link

can't wait to see the bottom of our rotation (everyone not Madison) against Trout. time to pad your stats bud.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 1 May 2015 23:03 (eight years ago) link

Guerrero been in the league like 10 days and he can do a 360 because he can't hit Bums ball out of the ball park? fuck him!

http://www.csnbayarea.com/giants/krukow-tells-dodgers-guerrero-grab-some-pine-meat

On a 3-2 pitch, he flied out to right field. And upon making contact, was visibly frustrated with himself.

Madison Bumgarner did not take kindly to this, and as Guerrero ran past Bumgarner on his way back to the dugout, replays show the 2014 World Series MVP tell Guerrero, "You're not that (expletive) good, man. You're not that (expletive good)."

Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow weighed in on the situation Wednesday morning.

[PAVLOVIC: Rewind: Bumgarner finds his form as Giants top Dodgers]

"He (Guerrero) does kind of a 360 out of the box and that ticked off Bumgarner," Krukow explained on KNBR 680-AM. "Number one: he ain't been here that long to be doing stuff like that. And he basically told him, 'You ain't good enough to start doing this.' He told him twice. And the response from Guerrero was, 'head down, yes sir, thank you, thank you sir, yes sir.' He was very respectful and humble, which he should have been.

"You don't have any time up here, and here's a guy who's a legend out there on the hill, you don't do anything that shows him up. And in Bumgarner's mind, he did ... he became humbled quite quickly and the thing was forgotten, but Bumgarner let him know...

yeah, maybe feeling do get hurt way too much but Bum was right, earn your stripes.

and yeah, fuck the Dodgers! yeah i'm drunk

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 May 2015 03:52 (eight years ago) link

you will miss me this year =-)

just feel like i need to step away....................................

Bee OK, Saturday, 2 May 2015 04:05 (eight years ago) link

...this is the sort of stuff that almost makes me want to give up on baseball full stop, like what even is this unwritten rule right way crap

w/e though I guess it is what it is

slothroprhymes, Saturday, 2 May 2015 05:02 (eight years ago) link

so we can say it: Lincecum is having a good season so far.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 3 May 2015 21:59 (eight years ago) link

Better trade him while he's hot!

Madison Dumbbarfer (Leee), Sunday, 3 May 2015 22:04 (eight years ago) link

@SFGiants
Tim Hudson is the first #SFGiants pitcher to allow 15 or more hits in a game since Gaylord Perry gave up 16 on Sept. 28, 1968 vs. CIN

mookieproof, Friday, 8 May 2015 04:06 (eight years ago) link

Another pretty good game by Timmy.

And McGee finally homered.

Van Horn Street, Saturday, 9 May 2015 04:59 (eight years ago) link

Ichiro is with the Marlins now?!??

Madison Dumbbarfer (Leee), Monday, 11 May 2015 18:04 (eight years ago) link

yea one year deal

slothroprhymes, Monday, 11 May 2015 18:08 (eight years ago) link

Welcome back Hunter Pence.

Bee OK, Saturday, 16 May 2015 23:08 (eight years ago) link

Timmy still walks a lot and doesn't strikeout as much as he did during the xFIP unlucky year. I'd wait a bit to make any conclusion about his form.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 20 May 2015 22:19 (eight years ago) link

Sounds like a Decal (i.e. student-led) class for 1 unit.

Madison Dumbbarfer (Leee), Wednesday, 20 May 2015 22:22 (eight years ago) link

I'm going to the game tomorrow, first time I'll be at a game since the Bonds era, and the first time I've watched 9 innings since 2012.

Madison Dumbbarfer (Leee), Wednesday, 20 May 2015 22:23 (eight years ago) link

or maybe just someplace where he can smoke doobs and scarf peanuts in peace

mookieproof, Friday, 4 September 2015 16:03 (eight years ago) link

wow that is legit incredible

Spottie, Friday, 4 September 2015 16:39 (eight years ago) link

I'm guessing the first baseman clipped the ball enough to change its path, and that's why Panik overshot it?

:wq (Leee), Friday, 4 September 2015 16:43 (eight years ago) link

rip

mookieproof, Saturday, 5 September 2015 04:04 (eight years ago) link

i like Jeremy Affeldt take on things. i think he is right and that is not because i'm a Giants fan but interesting to hear from a 14-year major leaguer.
