The countries in The Needle are the ones where there is sufficient Spotify activity to produce emerging-song signal, so more will appear automatically as Spotify adds countries, or as usage increases in countries where we've already launched...

A collection of The Golden Eagle Gospel Singers recorded work titled "Tone the Bell" was put up; this only supplements a Document album that was already on offer but it's an excellent opportunity for anyone unfamiliar with this music to try it now.I'll argue this is as strong and enjoyable and memorable as gospel music gets.

This seems pretty damning for labels. I guess by having Spotify take the rap for not paying artists the labels get away w doing the same and not taking the blame.

a question for glenn, global release day starts on Friday July 10th, will your Spotify sorting hat be switched to Friday updates from then onwards? as today is the last "New Music Tuesday" for Americans.
getting use to friday new releases is going to be strange.
in the UK new releases has always been Mondays, i thought Mondays would been a logical global release day - fresh start to the week = new releases.
discussion from 2010 @ npr
Why Albums Are Released On Tuesdays In The U.S.http://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2010/09/08/129725205/why-albums-are-released-on-tuesdays
I reckon one of key reasons for Tuesday release days in the US were historically associated with logistics i.e distribution physical product over such a large country. But in an era of streaming and downloads, to carry on with Tuesdays seemed a relic of the past.
but why friday and not monday. I wonder if the spotify top mngt agreed with the friday decision?
