Think it was vinegar though now that you mention it I'm curious

tsrobodo, Monday, 1 June 2015 06:08 (eight years ago) link

Probably my favorite episode of the series

tsrobodo, Monday, 1 June 2015 06:08 (eight years ago) link

vinegar would make a lot more sense, people DO put mignonette on oysters
i swear i heard vanilla though

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Monday, 1 June 2015 06:10 (eight years ago) link

the last half of that episode was the most metal thing we will ever see on television

Clay, Monday, 1 June 2015 06:40 (eight years ago) link

Well it did feature Mastadon.

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 1 June 2015 07:58 (eight years ago) link

great episode - each thread was interesting, not least maisie williams' fire oyster-merchant hairdo.

so what's the deal with rob's sword? is it the fact he was wielding it or is it just that he never knew it was dragonglass?

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Monday, 1 June 2015 08:18 (eight years ago) link

john's sword i mean

Valyrian steel, I think

polyphonic, Monday, 1 June 2015 08:21 (eight years ago) link

was there some thing before about his real father being a targeryen?

xpost i thought valyrian steel had stopped sponsoring this show

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Monday, 1 June 2015 08:22 (eight years ago) link

there's a popular theory about who his parents are

polyphonic, Monday, 1 June 2015 08:25 (eight years ago) link

did samwell inadvertantly convince that kid to kill j.s.

(o), Monday, 1 June 2015 08:26 (eight years ago) link

Yeah, great episode, one of the most satisfying for all the stuff they managed to fit in, but it was really dumb of Jon to admit to killing Mance without laying out the circumstances first.

I thought the ice king that Jon smashed came back but it must be a similar looking ice king.

Wondering what percentage of the wildlings survived. Perhaps Jon should have been more careful because maybe without him, none of the wildlings would be allowed back, but maybe the advance of the white walkers changes what crows would allow. Doesn't look like there's a big tribe of giants. That one giant must be hardy as fuck to swim through freezing water.
In season 2 I thought white walkers would simply advance until they killed everyone but obviously they've been doing other stuff, going back and forth. Otherwise they would have killed loads in season 3.

Keeping in mind that the cast of the show have repeatedly said episode 10 is going to have a major shocker that's supposed to be bigger than anything before. I'm going to guess it's not totally due to characters dying. Perhaps something with Arya coming into totally new territory.

I was hoping Cersei will die this season but now I want her to at least get revenge on the Sparrows.

There's a lot to fit into next two episodes. They're called "The Dance of Dragons" and "Mother's Mercy". I presume the mother is either Daenerys or Cersei.

Add to missing list: Brynden Tully. Maybe he'll come in and kill someone.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 1 June 2015 12:27 (eight years ago) link

Also wondering how much of the wildlings were killed behind those doors. Looked like a lot.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 1 June 2015 12:30 (eight years ago) link

it was really dumb of Jon to admit to killing Mance without laying out the circumstances first.

this was really bad writing. like it's a sensitive situation and he just decides to clown them by announcing he shot an arrow "through his heart", conveniently paving the way for pirate steve to show his trust for him.

also the "he may be prettier than my daughters" thing didn't work too well with that incredibly striking scandinavian-looking female wildling standing there.

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Monday, 1 June 2015 12:46 (eight years ago) link

how did i miss striking scandinavians?!

so how many seasons will it take for the whitewalkers to cross the river?

Karl Malone, Monday, 1 June 2015 13:49 (eight years ago) link

Jon admitting to killing Mance w/o context was pretty consistent with how dumb Jon's always been

Xxxxxp didn't the sparrow guy say 'mother's mercy' is what the tyrells would get if they plead guilty for their sins? I'm guessing it's not actually hugely merciful

Blandford Forum, Monday, 1 June 2015 14:20 (eight years ago) link

probably you get sent to a nunnery way in the south where a bunch of monsters are attacking

Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 1 June 2015 14:22 (eight years ago) link

Guessing that Cersei thinks it sounds quite nice, confesses to having Lancelot kill Robert, shagging Lancelot etc. and them discovers that it isn't actually that great.

Blandford Forum, Monday, 1 June 2015 14:29 (eight years ago) link

lol Lancelot, thanks phone

idk why ppl loved that ep quite so hard but it was cool when dany revealed herself to be a revolutionary

i didn't completely understand the interaction between cersei and the...guy who i recognize but can't remember really. seems like he was hinting at some sort of move he could pull to get her out of there?

Karl Malone, Monday, 1 June 2015 14:41 (eight years ago) link

he was being kinda coy

lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 14:42 (eight years ago) link

Blandford Forum, Monday, 1 June 2015 14:44 (eight years ago) link

o right he did say something abt the maester right

qyburn, her disgraced former maester dude. him saying there's a way out is p much telling her "uhhh youre fucked you should probably confess," but saying "the work continues" is qyburn-code for "your zombie guardian is almost ready"

slothroprhymes, Monday, 1 June 2015 14:56 (eight years ago) link

that said even a frankenclegane could prob be defeated somehow i highly doubt that it just singlehandedly kills all of cersei's 9 zillion enemies

slothroprhymes, Monday, 1 June 2015 14:57 (eight years ago) link

Trial by combat?

Blandford Forum, Monday, 1 June 2015 15:01 (eight years ago) link

Can imagine Qyburn sitting on Mountain's shoulders and throwing dangerous chemicals.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 1 June 2015 15:07 (eight years ago) link

somebody's been playing bloodbourne

Trial by combat is such an unfair advantage for the people who have access to giant grunts

Karl Malone, Monday, 1 June 2015 15:18 (eight years ago) link

really enjoyed seeing cersei licking water off the floor. she is the worst, i hate her.

ian, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:26 (eight years ago) link

lol

lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:27 (eight years ago) link

Cersei scene made me think of KISS's "Lick It Up" so that was some kind of positive. The battle scene was a pleasant surprise, although I don't think they shot it very well - all those abrupt/jump-cut shots of people bludgeoning each other, that's not how you do a well-orchestrated battle scene imo

Οὖτις, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:31 (eight years ago) link

i think the point was that it was m/l a one-sided bloodbath rather than a battle

slothroprhymes, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:33 (eight years ago) link

sure

why can't zombies go in the water?

Οὖτις, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:34 (eight years ago) link

maybe they dissolve.

ian, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:35 (eight years ago) link

they should just walk along the ocean floor underneath the boats then when the boats arrive at their destination the zombies just walk up out of the water behind them "oh hai"

Οὖτις, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:35 (eight years ago) link

it chills them to the bone ha ha

if a dude (the night's king) who only needs to go flicka the wrist to raise fresh dead from the fields solely as a parting troll gesture wanted to kill everyone then and there, he prob would have

slothroprhymes, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:40 (eight years ago) link

its seems like the white walkers r gonna be hard to defeat only dragons prob cld do it

lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:42 (eight years ago) link

i bet dragon glass, valarian steel, and dragon fire all kill white walkers

lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:43 (eight years ago) link

seems like normal fire should work on the normal zombies tho

anonanon, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:44 (eight years ago) link

isn't there another valyrian blade out there? who has it? jamie? or bronn or brienne? i can't really remember.

Mordy, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:44 (eight years ago) link

Xpost #killallwhitewalkers

Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 1 June 2015 16:45 (eight years ago) link

jamie and brienne each have ones that were melted down from the very big sword i think

lag∞n, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:46 (eight years ago) link

brienne and jon have them, jaime took the one that was supposed to be joffrey's i think, a handful of other lords have them

tyrion had a valyrian steel dagger but its prob long gone

slothroprhymes, Monday, 1 June 2015 16:47 (eight years ago) link

eddard's valyrian sword was melted down into 2 by twyin and he gave them to jamie and joffrey. jamie gave his to brienne, and i guess tommen has joffrey's now.
