jamie and brienne each have ones that were melted down from the very big sword i think

brienne and jon have them, jaime took the one that was supposed to be joffrey's i think, a handful of other lords have them

tyrion had a valyrian steel dagger but its prob long gone

eddard's valyrian sword was melted down into 2 by twyin and he gave them to jamie and joffrey. jamie gave his to brienne, and i guess tommen has joffrey's now.

the only thing stopping them from killing the undead was the lack of a way of making sharp enough swords

does a have a real world counterpart where during the middle ages smelting techniques were more advanced in parts of asia than europe and the steel was imported and v expensive and a big tech advantage for those who had it

asian dragons are significantly better for forging steel than european ones

did anyone notice the wildling that was chest deep in the freezing water by the dock, helping with the boat(?), before the whitewalkers even appeared? he was just hanging out in the water, holding the boat steady

the battle takes place at Hardhome, where the Wildlings have retreated after the earler battle at the Wall. so...the whitewalkers and the undead horde had to travel from the west to get to Hardhome, right? and no one saw them until they were about a mile away, avalanching down a mountain? come on guys you gotta send a scout or two out, this is embarrassing for you

i'll grant that the haunted forest is too scary to send scouts too. but what about the top of the mountain range that overlooks hardhome a mile away, or the piece of land east of scurry forest where the bays pinch in from the north and south? frankly, i'm beginning to think this entire show is just made up

where did all these wildlings originally come from? west of craster's keep and they've been pushed to the east as the whitewalkers come? what is north of fist of the first men? uncharted?

pretty sure we saw some of the scouts flying over the edge of the cliff with the rest of the dead guys.

Have the wildlings ever actually battled against the walkers before? It seemed like this was the first time they really had to deal with them in earnest.

i think up until then they'd only really tried running and uh, running.

xps to mordy, feels like in early show they were referring to reemergence of white walkers as in they have been keeping to their land beyond charted geography. Also the wall people referred to the number of horn blows having a code where three blows was white walkers but nobody had heard three blows for a thousand yrs or something along that line

i only made it to webelos in cub scouts, but iirc if you're close enough to be killed, you're not scouting correctly

Also, not sure about the "we'll give you some land" plan for the Wildlings. Is that on the West bank of the wall?

it looks in the map like if you go west enough you can just walk around the wall. why didn't the wildlings do that?

The wall is really more for the Wildlings, I think. The mountains in the west are supposed to be pretty rough going.

They'd get farming land in the Gift:

The Gift extends immediately south of the Wall, stretching from the eastern to western coasts of Westeros. The southern border is roughly at the same parallel as the southern tip of the island of Skagos (slightly further north than the northern edge of Bear Island). There are probably a few left over who haven't been murdered by wildlings but it's largely uninhabited.
