When I was a kid, there was this sports talk host on the radio who'd have Metallica playing in the background on Friday nights during his show, and "One" was a staple. For young me, listening to this spooky moody song in the dark was an otherworldly, invigorating atmosphere.

That said, I hope the one (pun!) from MOP beats the one from RTL for #1.

Man that video freaked me out when we saw the world premiere.

I even used to have a cassette I recorded off of the television, so I could have a version with "What is democracy?" dropped in here and there.

Even though I've heard it a million times I still love it - it's so vivid & emotional

I had the "two of one" cassette. Don't remember much about it, but sometimes when the moon is right, Lars' "...and Jason Robards as, uh, the dad" cycles on repeat through my head.

I got the top five, but not in the right order. Best album: Master of Puppets, shark-jump: Cliff's death. (I still like AJFA, in its own obsessive, claustrophobic way. And Garage Days, obviously! But the band really lost something and never got it back when Cliff died.)
