industry plant is just the term going around for rappers who aren't "organically" popular or w/e, that they've come in thru the major label system

its a silly term at some level but ppl throw it around a lot, raury wore an 'industry plant' t-shirt on the xxl cover in an effort to shake that reputation or own it

a year or two ago i would be against this name bc we'd had a running pattern of calling the LCD rap trend of the year, but lately we haven't really been doing that anyway

actually industry plant works bcuz the thread was originally named after an (organically grown) LCD rap trend given that liking such was a minority/contrarian opinoin at that poine on the internet. in 2016 every music writer is going to be jacking off to 21 savage so liking industry plants is now the minority/contrarian stance.

also industry plant is easy to remember unlike "CORP low bar just to appear hip to teens"
