Knew it was coming, but still very upset about Paul Ray. Heard so much great music on his shows.

As one of the main songwriters for Miami label TK Records, Reid penned a string of songs in the Sixties and Seventies for numerous soul and funk artists, including Gwen McCrae's "Rocking Chair" and Betty Wright's "Clean Up Woman." He also wrote tracks for KC & The Sunshine Band, Sam & Dave and Bobby Byrd before giving birth to Blowfly, his outlet for performing comedic, explicit songs that over the years traversed the genres of soul, R&B and hip-hop; Blowfly is considered one of the earliest rappers. "He laid the foundation for hip-hop with 'Shake Your Ass' and 'Rap Dirty'

when i saw whiney last night we talked about how gen xers and earlier are gonna have near meaningful daily celebrity deaths now because we're in an era now of people aging out who made their bones in the first generation of 70's / 80's media saturation. I don't THINK this is just a lot of us getting old?

i'm just glad Springsteen is gonna outlive me at this point, cuz i would not be able to take the 6 weeks of gnashing after that one.

Springsteen is going to outlive us all.

Jeez, I just got word that the guy who got the local branch of the Quiz company I'm with going (and who'd since left for other ventures, but remained our mentor and guru) passed from a massive heart attack last night.

Andy Dog, Matt Johnson's brother and the artist for all of The The's art/album covers over the years has passed away. He actually sent me a nice message once after I'd written about the art for the "Sweet Bird of Truth" sleeve. R.I.P. to him.

Didn't realized Johnson had two brothers. (Also didn't realize that apparently Matt Johnson has a cameo in Star Wars.)

SHE was, until six days ago, the young woman who did not exist. Excised from school photographs, barred from class theatrical productions and left off the list of scholastic achievements displayed on her college noticeboard, Flora Keays has been forced, by law, to remain invisible. Until now.

I get the impression Sara Keys agreed to the injunction initially for "not being bothered by press, allowed to live their life in privacy" reasons, until she discovered what it actually meant, at which point it was too late..
