How could you tell things like that ? You're silly guys ! Do you think that's a way to treat people and do you really like music as you pretend ? I doubt ! I'm a 27 years old french fan of the Corrs and I'm proud of it !!! they're a very respectable family, not your case certainly... Also, I listen a lot of rock, metal (lyric metal and doom/gothic principally), classical and celtic music, so I can't understand this total childishness ! It's distressing and really stupid !!!

Doyle from France

Doyle, Thursday, 26 December 2002 17:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

"Well, maybe it's because the pampered tosspots were sat like royalty observing the peasantry at play and were only there because their PR ppl thought they needed to be "seen" at an Iggy show that the old fecker got so rankled."

Or, could it be they were there because they happen to like (although I don't understand how anyone could) his music? Heavens no! No, they came because their popularity is dropping, and going to an Iggy Pop concert is going to help them get "hot" again. So you're saying if you go to one of the fucker's concerts, you're suddenly immensely popular? When did he get crowned king of the world!? ... No wait, on second thought, where can I get tickets!?

The Corrs should have sued him. Caroline is pregnant for God's sake!

And yes, I'm a big Corrs fan, and proud of it. So go on and leave me breathless with all your childish, idiotic comments now.

No one will be listening to the Corrs' music in twenty years. Iggy, meanwhile, has earned his place, and should be treated with respect.

"Iggy, meanwhile, has earned his place, and should be treated with respect."

Oh, so just because you think that The Corrs will be long forgotten in twenty years time it means that you can spit on them?! Grow up.

Kenne, Monday, 6 January 2003 20:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

Everyone should be treated with respect. There's no excuse for spitting on someone when they have done nothing wrong to you.

Kenne, Monday, 6 January 2003 20:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

If the Corrs were surprised by Iggy's actions, they clearly weren't very well versed in the man's oeuvre. They got what they deserved.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 6 January 2003 20:44 (twenty-one years ago) link

no one deserves to be spat at.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 6 January 2003 20:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

"They got what they deserved."

What did they do to deserve that? Just because they went to one of his shows they deserved to be spat at?! Anyone who believes it's normal to spit at people for absolutely no reason other then hating them, is insane.

Kenne, Monday, 6 January 2003 21:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh btw, this should be interesting for you people: Iggy admitted he acted like a lunatic.

Quote from an interview with Andrea from December 4th:
Didn't you get abuse from Iggy Pop at one of his gigs?
Unfortunately, that's true. We have the same tour manager and we were in a box and I didn't want to make a spectacle of myself by dancing all night. The last thing you want is for the audience to be distracted by someone from another band being there. It's a respect thing. He got quite frightening, swearing at us and trying to throw things at us from the stage.

So you'll be buying no more Iggy albums?
No. It frightened me; I was sitting beside my pregnant sister. It was looking very scary - he has apologised but I think he was out of order. It wasn't because it was us; he would have done the same to anyone up there and I find that behaviour disgusting.
I have no idea why Jim didn't do anything. Because he didn't want to make a bigger scene?

Kenne (Kenne), Monday, 6 January 2003 21:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Iggy's been acting like a lunatic for the entirety of his career and there is *MORE* than enough evidence available to support it (i.e. maybe the Corr throng should've considered that before attending.) Iggy ain't Wayne Newton.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 6 January 2003 21:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

haha "the Corr thong"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 6 January 2003 21:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

Kenne, I come from a town not fifteen miles from where the Corrs originate. I know of these people. And they do not "dig" Funhouse.

Venga, Monday, 6 January 2003 22:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

What a sad lot of people you are.

You find that entertaining?

Even if you weren't a fan of the Corrs, wouldn't common decency indicate that not only do you not spit at people, you do not terrorise a pregnant woman? Hell! She could have miscarried or anything!

And it should go for everyone, not just because OMG, Iggy Pop is such a maniac and people should expect those kinds of things.

NO ONE should have to be treated like that, whether they're at an Iggy Pop concert or a S Club 7 concert. No one has the right to act like that.

And you ask why Jim Corr didn't retaliate? He may be protective of his sisters, but he's certainly not stupid. Anything that he did, he would probably have been set upon by people such as yourselves.

Drumchik, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 09:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

wouldn't common decency indicate that not only do you not spit at people, you do not terrorise a pregnant woman?
But what if it had been a GWAR show? If you're a pregnant woman and you feel you MUST see Iggy Pop, you best watch Iggy Pop on TV.

Hell! She could have miscarried or anything!
Spit has been known to have that effect. Second hand smoke at a concert, however, is fine. (I dunno - is there smoking at shows over there?)

If they had spit back at him (real lugey-like) and shouted "I got a right!" he would have laughed... next time they'll know.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 13:43 (twenty-one years ago) link

What the hell was a pregnant woman doing at an Iggy Pop show to begin with?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 15:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

The watusi?

Dan "Laugh-In" Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 15:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

This is the dumbest thread of all time. Iggy acted like a lunatic because Iggy acts like a lunatic. That's his fucking job! He's made a thirty-year career out of acting like a lunatic. As Mark S noted way upthread, in 1970 Iggy would have got the audience to spit at him, rather than the other way 'round.

The right answer:
If they had spit back at him (real lugey-like) and shouted "I got a right!" he would have laughed... next time they'll know.

J (Jay), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 15:02 (twenty-one years ago) link

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 15:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm surprised he didn't do more, to be honest.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 15:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

"I have no idea why Jim didn't do anything. Because he didn't want to make a bigger scene?"
"He may be protective of his sisters, but he's certainly not stupid. Anything that he did, he would probably have been set upon by people such as yourselves."

I think these theories as to why The Man-Corr didn't immediately leap to his feet and give Iggy the thrashing he so clearly and richly deserves, actually made me laugh even harder than the original story!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 15:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

That was, no doubt, DAMN HELL INDECENT of Iggy or whoever he is, to abuse those two who had done nothing wrong (except show up at his concert of corrs)! They should've sued him or something! Yes, I agree with Drumchik! You DO NOT spit in someone's hair, you DO NOT throw a mike in the direction of a PREGNANT WOMAN and you DO NOT have the right to act like that!

Phoebe, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 23:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

iggy pop had no right to do what he did, the feckin skank.

but who cares what you losers think of them, do they care ? no! they care about the fans they have, the fans they have had from the beginning and who has supported them throughout. not sad losers like iggypop, goodness, i would never even heard of iggy pop if he had never done the theme song to trainspotting.

if u dont like the corrs stop talking about them and wasting time.

idiots, go do something constructive with your time than talk about people you obviously dont know at all!!!

ajc, Thursday, 9 January 2003 00:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

The Corrs fuckin' suck and you suck for liking'em!

Motel Hell (vassifer), Thursday, 9 January 2003 00:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

I am sure he knew she was a PREGNANT WOMAN too. I agree, the smoke at a rock concert was more dangerous than the spit or the TERROR OF IGGY POP.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 9 January 2003 01:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

You guys obviously haven't heard The Corrs' music or know their lives as well as we Corrs fans do. Had you known... And you're all out of your mind to love music from a guy that looks like a Gollum and spits on pregnant woman. It wasn't Andrea that got hit, it was Caroline. Iggy should fucking get off the music industry for being such a bitch that he is!

No one will be listening to the Corrs' music in twenty years. Iggy, meanwhile, has earned his place, and should be treated with respect.

How naive you are to think that we Corrs fans will ever forget them! You have no idea how hard i'm laughing right now.

corrs2thecore, Thursday, 9 January 2003 03:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

While I certainly wish I knew the minutiae of their lives as well as you Corrs fans do, I have a feeling most of you Corrs fans aren't all that familiar with Mr. Pop.
This is a man that used to carve up his torso with broken glass during his live performances. He used to deliberately bait his audiences. It's part of his performance I think if you willingly go to an Iggy Pop show, you accept a certain amount of risk that you may be drenched with saliva or blood. You certainly shouldn't be shocked that he did something outrageous. Like J said, he's been doing this for about 30 years.
If I went to a Corrs show, I would accept the risk of being bored to tears. See, I would know what I was getting into.

Death to the Corrs.

Joolz Fargo (vassifer), Thursday, 9 January 2003 04:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

Know why he spat on them? They make more money than him. They have ten thousands more devoted fans. They make brilliant music. They are down to earth. They are beautiful. They are talented. They have personalities the world can identify with. They can release a crap album (as if it would ever happen!) and it would still reach number one in ever continent the world over. These are all things Mr. Pop is not familiar with, and is very obviously jealous of.
The list of the greatness of the Corrs would go on, but unlike you sad Iggy Pop fans i have a life.

Oh. My. God.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 9 January 2003 09:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 9 January 2003 11:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

What fools you all are. Have you not realised something that is so obviously in your face?
Pepole on the booard are all up in arms about how much they love/hate the Corrs, or love/hate Iggy Pop, and why he would spit on someone at his concert. But surely you must have thought of this...
why The Corrs, and not someone else. He must have some form of respect for them,
1.Or he would have completely ignored them. He wouldn't of given them even more publicity, a thing that so many of you bevlieve they don't need anymore of.
2. He wouldn't have said sorry.

I am fully aware that going to an Iggy concert is one where you the audience have to take some risks, but remember, it was not the Corrs who made their presence known, but Iggy himself. If the Corrs wanted the attention, they would have found a way to do it, like all humans do, but they didn't.

Think about it, if Iggy hated them so much, he would ignore them. Isn't that what we do to those we hate? I know i do.

Sit and think about what you're saying before your emotions run terribly wild, and leave you with an impression that may not be one you wish to see tomorrow, or even show your kids.

That is all i have to say on this

Rhino, Thursday, 9 January 2003 11:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

"Think about it, if Iggy hated them so much, he would ignore them. Isn't that what we do to those we hate? I know i do."

Personally I prefer to bludgeon them to death with a large, heavy, blunt instrument; cut their bloody, still-twitching corpse into chunks first with a chainsaw then into smaller pieces with a sharp kitchen knife; collect all the pieces and wrap them in black bin-liners (it pays to buy good quality bin-liners for this, otherwise you often need to use a second one, which is time consuming amd may well work out to be more expensive in the long run) then bury them under the patio.... but each to their own.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 9 January 2003 11:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

...but peanut butter is cheaper, more traditional, and much more aesthetic.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Thursday, 9 January 2003 11:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

Colin, you leave me breathless. Stewart, you're forgiven, not forgotten. And so on and so forth.

B.Rad (Brad), Thursday, 9 January 2003 11:47 (twenty-one years ago) link

I thought Iggy didn't even know who they were... he just spat toward (on) them because they were in their own safe & elite area.

..And rude, indecent, people don't deserveblah, ... YES! That's what Iggy Pop IS!

The Corrs were just watching and taking no part in the show. Iggy was just trying to get them involved. ...man.

-- stevem (bluesk...), January 6th, 2003.

If Iggy is who I think/hope he is, he would've done 10-fold worse on Kelly Osborne.

also, someone said Iggy had no right to spit on stage. He has every right to spit on stage. It's part of his show, and this is no hidden fact. When you go to the "guy who spits on people show-- you cant complain when you get spit on
