2nd base ump said Lagares ran out of the baseline when avoiding the shortstop on his way to third. Shortstop wasn't even attempting a tag, Would have been 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs, instead was a double play.

so it was different umps on sat and sun, but the sat ump (3b carlos torrws) was overruled on sun (2b rob drake), perhaps for perceived overcompensation if not as a handoff

in a 9 inning game that the cardinals only lost by 4 runs (true, they scored 5 runs in the 9th to make it relatively close, but still, #mathenaging)

Syndergaard joined Nolan Ryan, Jose Fernandez and Clayton Kershaw (three in a row) as the only pitchers since 1913 to have consecutive double-digit strikeout games without allowing a walk or an earned run. Dwight Gooden (September 1984) is the only other Mets pitcher to reach double digits in strikeouts with no walks in back-to-back games.

pretty crazy, to me, that that feat is as rare as it is. like no one in the 60s did that?
