murray would be a good fit for the celts i think but he feels like a guy who would go 4-5 picks later in a better draft

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 14:11 (eight years ago) link

he's just a pure shooter type?

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 14:12 (eight years ago) link

yeah he's a good shooter but big too like he could develop a post game. he might have trouble on defense cuz he isn't quick but the c's have good perimeter defenders already.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 14:13 (eight years ago) link

ok sure im down with that

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 14:29 (eight years ago) link

buzz about d'antoni to houston today. that's surely the thing to turn their struggling defense around

geometry-stabilized craft (art), Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:06 (eight years ago) link

not official, don't let me misrepresent, but he's had a couple of interviews is "an increasingly serious candidate" according to espn

geometry-stabilized craft (art), Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:08 (eight years ago) link

now this is going to be fun

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:08 (eight years ago) link

so many bad vibes with simmons. he's not a scorer, his jump shot mechanics are broken, and he's a whiny baby. even the australian national team doesnt like him.

ya he doesnt seem to be going out of his way to endear himself wonder if hell slip

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:12 (eight years ago) link

seems like the prevailing opinion is still that you can't pass on what could be a lebron-esque player but def a lot of naysayers coming out of the woodwork suddenly

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:24 (eight years ago) link

the whole not being able to shoot at all thing has got to be troubling

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:26 (eight years ago) link

"Opponents were able to neutralize him very effectively in the half-court as the season moved on, simply backing five feet off him. Simmons would respond by getting very passive in turn, looking very conscious about firing up jumpers, even late in games when his team desperately needed him to be aggressive. "

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:30 (eight years ago) link

2. Simmons’ box scores have grown increasingly hollow. One NBA executive described him as a “taller Rajon Rondo, a more athletic Evan Turner, or a skinnier Royce White.”

ow!

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:35 (eight years ago) link

sounds like he has a similar skillset to giannis tbh

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:36 (eight years ago) link

giannis is a freak tho

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:38 (eight years ago) link

yeah

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 15:41 (eight years ago) link

Id probably go with the dragon at 3, feel like a sweet shooting big euro dirk/zinger type would be huge for the c's. And if Kirilenko is a realistic comp that's good too- young Kirilenko was just a monster box score filler, that stretch when he and matrix were #1 fantasy picks because they would have like a steal a block and a couple threes every game now feels like a precursor to the ideal modern 4 man

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:36 (eight years ago) link

Or trade it to someone who thinks they see something in any player beyond Ingram/Simmons...last time ainge had a decent pick to work with he turned a fifth pick and some garbage into Ray Allen (and big baby ha)

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:38 (eight years ago) link

idk seems like simmons has a pretty low floor to me even if shooting never really quite gets there. he demonstrated his court vision & passing ability at LSU and will prob be able to finish at the rim and if he can guard both wings and bigs there's a draymond-esque skillset there.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:39 (eight years ago) link

if he can defend and shoot at dray green levels then he will be good i agree lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:41 (eight years ago) link

i feel like he really screwed up by going to LSU which i guess some people would say is a red flag but he was a young kid going to college in a diff country it's not crazy that he would pick a place where he could be close to a family member

i would still take ingram tho he's a year younger and i'd just rather take a shot on that offensive upside

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:42 (eight years ago) link

also wingspan is the new vertical

Spottie, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:43 (eight years ago) link

simmons has short arms throw him in the garbage

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:44 (eight years ago) link

yup

Spottie, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:45 (eight years ago) link

ingram has no torso, all legs n arms. nice shoulders tho, i bet he can bulk up pretty quick

Spottie, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:45 (eight years ago) link

if he can defend and shoot at dray green levels then he will be good i agree lol

― lag∞n, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 12:41 PM (27 seconds ago) Bookmark

i'm not saying he would be as good as draymond just that he could contribute in the same way that draymond does. having a big who can move and pass like that is pretty helpful.

i guess the worst case scenario is that he's essentially ricky rubio on the offensive end but can guard wings and bigs in small ball lineups which would be a disappointment but still a useful player!

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:46 (eight years ago) link

he's gonna be a playmaker so even if his shot never develops you're at least getting a player better than michael kidd gilcrhrist or whoever. like at absolute worst he's josh mcroberts or something, which again would kinda suck for a #1 overall pick but at least could really help you in certain situations.

but still ingram looks like he could be a perennial 25 ppg scorer so you know

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:48 (eight years ago) link

last time ainge had a decent pick he took marcus smart!

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:49 (eight years ago) link

is marcus smart good y/n? no one can answer that question still it seems

Spottie, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:50 (eight years ago) link

simmons prob has the tools to be an elite defender its just kinda difficult to project when everyones questioning his desire to do so

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:50 (eight years ago) link

yeah. idk ultimately he's 19 i'd still assume he's going to care enough at some point in the next like 5 years.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:51 (eight years ago) link

some guys do some guys dont, its his shooting that really gives me pause tho, like hes afraid to even shoot, he takes most of his shots around the basket with his off hand, i dont think u can come from that level to be even a decent shooter, thats pathological

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:56 (eight years ago) link

marcus smart was miserable on offense this season but he's an elite defender and showed some signs of life on offense in the playoffs

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:56 (eight years ago) link

it's weird but let's see what happens when he has real nba coaches working with him and not LSU or "australia" xp

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:57 (eight years ago) link

he came up in the american system fwiw been living here for like 5 years

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:05 (eight years ago) link

not that the aau is the best teaching environment or anything

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:05 (eight years ago) link

67% ft i guess cld be worse, some stats guys think that numbers a better predictor of future shooting ability than anything, which is kinda worrying for ingram cause he shot 68%

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:08 (eight years ago) link

ingram i wonder abt if hes one of those guys who looks like the perfect nba player but doesnt quite have the touch to ever be dominant, like he ends up shooting 35% from three instead of 40 and he never quite gets to the rim like u think he shd, hell prob be super solid at the very least and cld easily end up a superstar

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:10 (eight years ago) link

if i were simmons i'd be hiring whoever is best this summer to tear down/rebuild my shot and not worrying about whether my shoe deal is for like $7m or $10m but who knows maybe he has time for both.

w/ingram i'm curious how his body will fill out, he's like spindly rn and it's a little scary.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:18 (eight years ago) link

he has big shoulders wld think hell prob be more robust than durant at least

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:22 (eight years ago) link

And durant has been fine! The league is pretty kind to spindly dudes nowadays as long as you don't have a bad ankle or knee. Not too many bruisers around especially outside the center spot- probably the most punishing thing he'd face if he goes east is guarding Lebron four times a year

Oh yeah whoops

Tbf the sixth pick is definitely less valuable and that was a draft that was kinda (shrug emoji) outside the top three so it must have been less valuable as a trade chip

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:52 (eight years ago) link

its crazy to look at nba players legs they are almost all extremely thin, this is just what good jumping legs look like i guess

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:53 (eight years ago) link

yeah it's prob better long term to not have a couple tanks under your hips if you're gonna be running and jumping constantly for a dozen years

Clay, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 18:05 (eight years ago) link

lebro is the exception
