itt deepdream yr pics

same source photo, same filter. I like the higher resolution on the dreamscope collage, but the deepart one is seamless whereas the dreamscope one is way too busy and artifact-ridden for my taste.

They all use the same algorithm that Google open sourced about a year ago, but apparently with different default settings

There might also be an element of randomness at play since this is all supposed to be using neural networks, right?

yeah, I've run the same photo/filter combos more than once and gotten slightly different results.

I've been reading this article about the history of neural networks. apparently deepart.io and ostagram.ru use a more recent open-source algorithm developed by German researcher Leon Gatys, who isn't affiliated with Google's DeepDream project. the Dreamscope app (which everyone was using itt a year ago) originally used Google code, but I'm not sure if it still does. it doesn't seem like any of these apps has customization settings at the moment, but I'm sure that will come eventually.
