i agree that making 30 million dollars sounds pretty nice

ciderpress, Saturday, 9 July 2016 19:32 (seven years ago) link

ingram had kinda a baby draymond stat line last night, which I mean as a compliment - 12-4-1 with a steal and two blocks plus only one turnover (and presumably no nut kicks)

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Saturday, 9 July 2016 19:42 (seven years ago) link

Lol I was gonna mention the other day when the Warriors current roster was posted that there's still some garbage big men out there like Javale

I wouldn't go near that dude and this is probably the year he finally falls out of the league

There's a couple half decent bigs floating around- Terrence jones, kris Humphrey and...

They drafted a 7'6 dude

brimstead, Saturday, 9 July 2016 21:20 (seven years ago) link

he obv has tons to work on skillwise but ben simmons sees the floor remarkably well for someone of his size and age. in this summer league it still looks like he's barely trying or more like he's playing in a pick up game.

J0rdan S., Sunday, 10 July 2016 01:04 (seven years ago) link

Devin Booker is gonna be a star

moistest hoist (Spottie), Sunday, 10 July 2016 02:27 (seven years ago) link

ciderpress, Sunday, 10 July 2016 04:15 (seven years ago) link

it's kinda amazing to me to be living in a time when people earn money that can be expressed in reasonable percentages of a billion dollars to play basketball
all hail the free market

Current Nets depth chart:
PG: Lin, Levert
SG: Bogdanovic
SF: Hollis-Jefferson, Kilpatrick
PF: Booker, McCullough
C: Lopez, Hamilton
Yikes.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:22 (seven years ago) link

happy Lin's back in NY, at least

Nhex, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:36 (seven years ago) link

pretty sure those arent the positions of half of those guys but yeah that team is grim

ciderpress, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:37 (seven years ago) link

i cld tell u something abt exactly two of those players

lag∞n, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:39 (seven years ago) link

Trevor Booker probably the guy i'm least happy to be starting there

ciderpress, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:39 (seven years ago) link

kilpatrick and bojan can shoot but not play defense, hollis-jefferson can play defense but not shoot, and i don't know who the rest of those ppl are besides lin and brook lopez who we all know

ciderpress, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:42 (seven years ago) link

nets gonna sign sully prob lol

lag∞n, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:42 (seven years ago) link

omg that would actually work

ciderpress, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:44 (seven years ago) link

its destiny

lag∞n, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:46 (seven years ago) link

sully would be v solid for the nets and as such now I can only hope that another team signs him

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:48 (seven years ago) link

he wld be an improvement on that roster def but not really enough to move the needle imo

lag∞n, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:49 (seven years ago) link

this was one of the weirder consequences of the sixers not fielding a real team this past season:

ciderpress, Sunday, 10 July 2016 23:55 (seven years ago) link

in the past week the Blazers have spent over two hundred million dollars on meyers leonard, allen crabbe, evan turner, and festus ezeli

call all destroyer, Monday, 11 July 2016 00:17 (seven years ago) link

i prefer to think of it as over one fifth of a billion dollars

nomar, Monday, 11 July 2016 00:18 (seven years ago) link

really starting to feel like the offseason winners are the teams that didn't do anything or only touched the max guys

ciderpress, Monday, 11 July 2016 00:22 (seven years ago) link

yuup

lag∞n, Monday, 11 July 2016 00:25 (seven years ago) link

big free agent class next year

lag∞n, Monday, 11 July 2016 00:25 (seven years ago) link

1. Lillard/Napier
2. McCollum/Crabbe
3. Turner/Harkless?
4. Aminu/Davis/Leonard/Vonleh
5. Plumlee/Ezeli

From the salary floor to the luxury tax folks

Clay, Monday, 11 July 2016 00:29 (seven years ago) link

Also there's gotta be a frontcourt trade brewing bc yikes that's a whole lot of mediocrity bunched together

Clay, Monday, 11 July 2016 00:29 (seven years ago) link

imo that is a pretty unexceptional team for the amount of $ they spent

ciderpress, Monday, 11 July 2016 01:06 (seven years ago) link

all the signings except evan turner of course are defensible imo but ya taken as a group theyre not too impressive

lag∞n, Monday, 11 July 2016 01:09 (seven years ago) link

yeah if any team is indicative of the downside of the ballooning cap and how it can hurt a team it's portland's ridiculously bad summer

Clay, Monday, 11 July 2016 01:33 (seven years ago) link

and don't forget they'll have to max mccollum prob next summer and i think plumlee will be eligible for a rich extension too. and haven't even matched whatever $50mil offer harkless eventually gets.

Clay, Monday, 11 July 2016 01:34 (seven years ago) link

yeah i think the blazers may have locked themselves into an undesirable situation. their sick backcourt means they're a player away from being really really interesting and i would have been holding out for that possibility.

call all destroyer, Monday, 11 July 2016 02:24 (seven years ago) link

they played the warriors really well and everyone is young and will get better and they (over)paid for some depth. Think they'll be fine. They're prob not gonna lure a big name so that's the next best thing. The turner overpay is p weird tho.

moistest hoist (Spottie), Monday, 11 July 2016 02:29 (seven years ago) link

I'm sure we'll find out what happened with the Turner thing at some point. I think the idea was with the extensions they're signing next summer they had to use the money now or never use it, so the FO just outright panicked when parsons slipped away
