TWO WEEKS LEFT TO VOTE

I listed to Solstafir's Svartir Sandar a few times in the last month, and it definitely made my ballot b/c of those recent listens. I totally slept on that release in 2011, and missed out - it's excellent. I saw Pallbearer this past week, and loved 'em - would've voted for Foundations of Burden if it was listed, but was happy to vote for Sorrow and Extinction b/c it's probably slightly better for me personally. They opened for Baroness, which had the most weird bro-metal crowd I've ever seen in Chicago (surpassing Mastodon shows). Really just violent hateful little fuckers getting mad at every encroachment on space in Metro from someone that wasn't their buddy - it was weird. Not the loving moshy atmosphere of a Motorhead or Slayer show, that's for sure. Cough's Ritual Abuse should get some love too - their new one is excellent as well.

I probably would have turned my ballot in a couple weeks ago but I had to restart, and I'm being more careful this time.

I plan to vote. I'm in the middle of moving to a new house and I don't have internet so it's gonna have to wait but I should be able to get my ballot in before the deadline, I just won't be able to listen to everything I intended to.

20 is hardly enough to be very representative. My extreme metal poll had, I don't remember, but about that many and the results were pretty muddled there was a tiny point spread...

What's everyone's favorite Electric Wizard album? Dopethrone is an all-time classic but I think Black Masses is really great. I remember listening to it at least a dozen times when it first came out -- I don't do that a lot.

People tend to leave it til the last minute no matter how long the voting period is it would seem

Just had a look at the responses sheet as I hadn't checked it for a few days and we are actually over 30 ballots not sure how many are people revoting but we might be around 35 ballots

Obviously I want as many people as possible to vote in this but a low turnout would make the results pretty... interesting. Then again I was thinking the other day about how unpredictable the rollout will be anyway due to a lack of consensus, 10-15 years isn't enough time for records to be established into a canon or whatever. It also doesn't help that in this time frame metal has increasingly fragmented into so many different microgenres and variations.

I have got no idea what the top 10 will be. It's not like the 70s and 80s who you know who would dominate (sabbath/zep and Metallica/slayer)

I dunno if there would ever be enough interest but a 70s metal poll (maybe an 80s one after that) is something I'd fancy trying at some point next year.
Only problem is deciding what counts but that could make the poll thread interesting at least.

If it had been five years ago then Boris mightve won but I think their stock has totally collapsed now.
