Why have I been listening to so much sunshine pop recently instead of this? Is it too disingenuous to add things that I discover within the last two days?

i decided since there's not really a lot of time to research new things to just submit a ballot. almost hit 50, which was surprising, i wasn't expecting to get past 20

It took me four days to realise this was addressed to me, but anyway, I don't find Boris' droney stuff very interesting I'm afraid. I listened to Flood a few weeks ago and found it as tedious as I always do. I know I repped for Corrupted upthread but they're a real anomoly in music taste because my attention span just isn't long enough for most really slow-burning music.

I thought It was meant for Imago as well

but tbh it should be aimed at everyone who hasnt heard them esp those who have only heard pink and smile

Generally speaking I'm with ultros on not being able to weather most slow-burning music. That I like doom at all is something of a mystery to me, but I think as long as it's brutal/weirdly intricate/emotive enough I can overlook the slowness.

sludge is a faster brutal form of doom. then theres stoner rock/metal which is fuzzier and more MC5/Stooges or psychedelic influenced doom.

and of course there is drone metal and if you like Sunn o))) then you should like Boris drone metal

I'm not really into doom much -- tho I think it is actually easier to approach than most other extreme metal. I can say I was into Electric Wizard, Sleep and Sunn O))) (let alone Black Sabbath or Trouble) before I was into, say, Autopsy or Darkthrone. Some of that stuff ended up on my ballot, and I actually voted for one funeral doom record too-- there are moments where it hits the spot. Most days tho I want something faster/harder.

As far as sludge, I didn't actually vote for any Melvins or Boris, but I like the early Melvins stuff just fine.

Pretty much all of the death metal fans on the rolling thread havent voted btw. So if there's a lack of DM in the results please blame them (unless you can persuade them to vote)

I voted for OM but not with any great amount of enthusiasm.

I have a lot of almost inarticulable pickiness when it comes to metal. For instance, I don't like a lot of sludge vocals and I couldn't really say why. I also like my metal/psychedelia crossovers to be more esoteric and impenetrable than anything like the Stooges. Sunn0))) on my ballot a little though so I will definitely listen to these Boris tracks.

btw folks if you are doing a mixed ranking , leave a space between the ranked part (at the top of the ballot) and the unranked part
