On #MNTwins' pending hiring of Falvey - and what it says about baseball's front-office hiring practices. Column:

Spot on. If owners are simply hiring this archetype, minorities have no shot, and a lot of good baseball people are screwed.

i'm still amazed by that bichette season. i don't know if it's the worst on there, but he hit .298 w/34 HR and 133 RBI, scored 107 runs, slugged .541, and his WAR was still -2.3

they're all buying their minor league teams now, so expect less movement

that doesn't mean they can afford to pay the players, of course

i don't understand rooting against SF when the alternative is STL, the only team that is worse

qualx, Saturday, 1 October 2016 05:39 (seven years ago) link

Mets fan wd rather face Carlos Martinez than Bumgarner

but if SF, at least in Queens

i'm not sure there's been a team as good by record and as thoroughly boring to watch - barring wild bumgarner performances - as this decade's giants

@dschoenfield
LeMahieu does follow in a long list of batters who didn't have the guts of Ted Williams. Bill Madlock was the king of sitting on a title.
