delighted here by the notion that LJ somehow managed to order hand-made paperbacks from Onstad a dozen or so times over five years without ever clicking onto the front page of the site and discovering the strips appearing there

the paperbacks were printed iirc

(there are very many structural, content, and business-model-related reasons that they were not in newspapers, but that's not what he asked / amused me two years ago)
