good thing it'll be bulls vs magic then huh!

could be who knows this series will likely kill me either way

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:22 (fifteen years ago) link

btw i am quite certain pp is injured

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:23 (fifteen years ago) link

also have to say this series has been officiated horribly - not necessarily in favor of one team just strangely inconsistently and in a manner that detracts from the drama and beauty of the game

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:26 (fifteen years ago) link

i thought so too. gimp vs gimp with him and salmons is what it looked like. how can you leave salmons out there on an island with him in crunch time after he hit basically the same shot twice before??? if bulls pull out the series they may be the worst coached team to ever win a series.

Better bring out that wheelchair

carne asada, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:27 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah not trapping pierce was a huge wtf - not like the celtics are stacked w/scorers these days - of course doc has been giving as good as he gets w/these fucked up line ups

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:29 (fifteen years ago) link

not to mention not fouling when up by three in game 4 etc etc

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:30 (fifteen years ago) link

rest of series the ref'ing was bad both ways, but tonight i really thought the bulls got the worst of it. d rose for one got hacked on about 4 shots near the hoop w/o a whistle. foul on big bad brad at the end shoulda been flagrant. good thing about that play is vinny mignt--MIGHT--realize that there are other options for last minute plays besides clearing out for bg for the contested 20ft fallaway.

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:31 (fifteen years ago) link

who were the other shooters on the floor when pierce hit that? house? and....??

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:32 (fifteen years ago) link

theyre not gonna call a flagrant on the last play of the game - which is why rondo was smart to reach in there and remove brad millers teeth - but how abt fouling ray allen out on two tickytack off the ball fouls in one minute

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:34 (fifteen years ago) link

i think lots of coaches are going overboard with cutesy lineups, overcoaching
xp yeah i didn't even see what happened on the double foul, didn't have my magnifying glass on me

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:35 (fifteen years ago) link

dont recall who was there - ray was fould out so house is really the only other shooter they have - big baby can his from 18

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:35 (fifteen years ago) link

i don't have tix to thursday's game, so bulls have a chance. (i went to last thurs game and was not surprised. i seriously have the worst luck w/seeing games in person, you don't even know)

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:38 (fifteen years ago) link

hm should we let the truth do the exact same thing he just did twice or should we let the immortal big baby beat us with an 18 footer hmmmmmmmm

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:39 (fifteen years ago) link

but fuck does rondo have a nose for the ball. it's cute how his fake behind the back pass has become a nervous tic at this point *slurp slurp*

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 05:42 (fifteen years ago) link

ought so too. gimp vs gimp with him and salmons is what it looked like. how can you leave salmons out there on an island with him in crunch time after he hit basically the same shot twice before??? if bulls pull out the series they may be the worst coached team to ever win a series.

^^seriously - it was hilarious hearing doug collins analyzing the bulls' defense tonight, like when he spent like 3 straight celtics' possessions talking about how ben gordon shouldn't be shadowing tony allen so closely because allen will not make a 3 - i bet collins went to the hotel after the game and raided the mini bar and cried for 2 hours - either that or he's planning to kill del negro

GOON carter cash (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 07:26 (fifteen years ago) link

though i'm not really sure why people want that rondo foul to be flagrant the celtics definitely benefited from some no-calls last night. still in a 2-point OT game abt 1000000000 thing could have gone either way so what are you going to do?

remarkable win given that the c's big man "rotation" now consists of perk and baby playing 95% of the minutes cept when they are spelled by post-concussion brian scalabrine.

"though i'm not really sure why people want that rondo foul to be flagrant the celtics definitely benefited from some no-calls last night."

Cuz he fouled Brad Miller's face and hard enough that Miller ended up looking like John Merrick as he was taking his free throws.

"if bulls pull out the series they may be the worst coached team to ever win a series."

This is true, but it's not like Rivers has been setting the world on fire either.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 12:31 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't know if it's at all possible, but I was watching the Spurs and thinking "what if they had Boozer" and kept going hmmmmmmmmm

at this point, i'm willing to accept almost anyone to oust ginobili from his "big 3" position he has so he can be better used as a 6th man in earnest (ie 20-25 minutes a game regular season) instead of the last hopes for the spurs playoffs every year and oops oh no my body is broked because i spend every game landing sideways onto peoples feet and throwing my self around trying to get phantom foul call, but have fun in the playoffs guys!

hammurabi's chode (m bison), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 12:44 (fifteen years ago) link

spurs are in a tough spot - ginobili and to a lesser extent duncan are breaking down and the rest of their rotation has too many old guys and scrubs - boozer could help a lot w/duncan and ginobilis responsibilities but then youve still got to pick up a couple solid rotation players - spurs started bonner bowen and finley last night - ugly!

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 12:51 (fifteen years ago) link

booner is str8 garbage imo. like him personally, but as a playa, he lacks fiyah, he was absolutely of no use in this series. his one responsibility on offense is to hit threes to space the floor and he clunked all of them the last 2 games, pitiful. finley still has some game, but he's old as fuck. bowen is a pillar of the community and an honorary sa dude 4 life, i will say nothing untoward about the man. but he should be play fewer minutes in basketball games. mason was pretty useless this series, too, but i think he was still feeling things. gooden, too.

george hill stepped the fuck up, love this guy. udoka, too, both lack some offensive refinement, but they're great on the ball defenders.

just kind of a weird transition right now. duncan is still hofer first ballot, but he's not gonna do it every night, and parker is their offensive leader, so they gotta figure out how to make that work. i still think their window to win titles isn't closed with maybe one big piece and a key bench player (lol that's most teams, i guess, doomed to the middle of the pack now).

― Alex in SF, Wednesday, April 29, 2009 8:30 AM

i didn't like that play and felt bad for miller. he looked super-bummed in the bulls huddle after he missed both fts

really seemed like a ref had it out for ray allen last night, some real regular season calls that have no business in the playoffs

Dr. Phil, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 13:14 (fifteen years ago) link

did howard get suspended yet

Dr. Phil, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 13:25 (fifteen years ago) link

though i'm not really sure why people want that rondo foul to be flagrant

because it was? and because the refs were already reviewing the play anyway? because miller was still dazed when shooting what would've been the game tying ft in ot of a tight-as-can-be series?

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 13:41 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah i reviewed the def of flagrant and u guys are right

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 13:43 (fifteen years ago) link

he reached inside the mans mouth and ripped out his teeth - but it was on the final play of the game so its ok :)

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 13:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Brad Miller also has a very punchable face so it's possible the refs were sympathetic.

ironic for a guy who plays on the same team as Bruce Bowen

its considered neighborly to hip check a guy into the riverwalk

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 16:33 (fifteen years ago) link

As it was called a regular personal foul, Miller had to shoot the free throws himself, or be replaced by a Bull of Doc Rivers' choosing. Miller shot, and missed, while blinking again and again, apparently impaired by the fumes of the compound used to close the wounds in his mouth.

If it had been called a flagrant, Vinny Del Negro could have specified the shooter of his choice (in the playoffs, Ben Gordon, John Salmons, Derrick Rose and Tyrus Thomas are all over 80%), and the Bulls would have had the ball after the shots.

With a flagrant, the Bulls would have been favorites to win. Without a flagrant, a blow to the head of the guy shooting for the game is a savvy tactic.

besides the refs had already removed ray allen from the game for no reason

paul pierce is some country strong

p?nico (ice cr?m), Wednesday, 29 April 2009 16:50 (fifteen years ago) link

I think it's a case by case thing. I think there is a good argument that this foul was egregious enough that a flagrant would not have been a bad call.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 29 April 2009 16:53 (fifteen years ago) link

"besides the refs had already removed ray allen from the game for no reason"

No reason besides committing a foul.
