If you're talking Timmy Turner, dumbass, then yes. Since it was his follow up to a Hot 100 #1 hit and was massively hyped, I'd consider it a minor hit at 34.

T shirt has so far peaked at 37....

"...and Migos' "T-Shirt," from Culture, vaults 37-19." http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7678133/hot-100-ed-sheeran-shape-of-you-zayn-taylor-swift-surge-to
I was replying to J0rdan's "there's a long phenomenon of songs having short bursts of chart relevancy at the very beginning of their life cycles going back to itunes sales getting incorporated into chart data" - the point being that such long phenomenas are changing so that the past might not be the best way of assessing what will happen to a song like T-Shirt. Also, the weeknd is a strange point of comparison since his chart success largely derives from him catering to the old business model of letting the label take care of the marketing, writing songs for radio etc etc. He's not playing the Migos game.
― human and working on getting beer (longneck), Tuesday, 7 February 2017 08:53 (seven years ago) link
no, what's changing is that songs that should have been bigger are getting more attention, but it doesn't change songs artificially launched into the top cf 'timmy turner' or 't-shirt'...per rtc tho yes t shirt is better than timmy turner
― Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 7 February 2017 09:39 (seven years ago) link
if t-shirt had come pre- bad & boujee, it would not be a hit
― Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 7 February 2017 09:40 (seven years ago) link
'say sum' is more of a hit than 't shirt' it just had the bad fortune to come before the colossus that is 'bad & boujee'

also you're kidding yourself if you think migos aren't 'writing songs for radio'
― Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 7 February 2017 09:43 (seven years ago) link
Well good luck with your alternative facts, deej. Every song comes out after another song. And Migos are writing the same type of songs that they always did about the same subject matter. That they do it better than on their last album and have developed their pop sensibilities quite a bit does not make Culture comparable to Starboy, sorry. Radio plays Bad & Boujee because it is already a hit but B&B was not written for radio and radio didn't make it a hit in the first place.
What's "artificial" about the streaming charts though? Those are the songs listeners actively seek out, unless you want to make an argument about playlists like Rap Caviar "skewing" the stats. As mentioned above, today T-Shirt is at number 7 on the US spotify chart: https://spotifycharts.com/regional/us/daily/latest How does that not reflect its actual popularity?
― human and working on getting beer (longneck), Tuesday, 7 February 2017 09:49 (seven years ago) link
They should have put cocoon on the album though.
― human and working on getting beer (longneck), Tuesday, 7 February 2017 09:54 (seven years ago) link
agree its obv not another breakthru full spectrum cultural moment like 'b&b' but no one was rly claiming that either
"songs artificially launched into the top" there is a fine diff between zeitgeist and hypebeast and u know this... both distortive but only one is artificial
― r|t|c, Tuesday, 7 February 2017 10:10 (seven years ago) link
i might add by the by that it actually sounds awesome on the radio but i suppose the relevance of that depends on what radio is being discussed
― r|t|c, Tuesday, 7 February 2017 10:13 (seven years ago) link
wait why does streaming numbers not count into what is a hit?
isn't that the dominant form of music listening now?
― blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 7 February 2017 16:17 (seven years ago) link
if you search for "Migos" on apple music and tap on Bad and Boujee (probably why ppl are searching for Migos atm) then T-Shirt will start auto-playing after it finishes
if that happens on at least one other service, we know at least the first ten seconds of T-Shirt will be a hit because it takes a sec to hit the back button

kreayshawn's youtube views prove that youtube views are a metric of a song being a "hit"
