surefire recipe for success gets another ingredient! http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/club-for-growth-opposes-gop-obamacare-replacement-235772

So this wikileaks thing is meant to distract the CIA from going after Trump, right?

Possibly, but also to sow more public distrust in the IC and attempt to give some credence to the argument that Obama had them spy on Trump

sounds about right, maybe voodoo's second thing "give credence to argument that obama had them spy on trump" is a stretch but yea this is definitely about sowing distrust in the CIA

marcos, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 17:52 (seven years ago) link

at what point and why did wikileaks become a little arm of the kremlin

Is the hypothesis that Russia hacked the CIA?

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 17:56 (seven years ago) link

So what's the date of these documents, anyway.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 17:57 (seven years ago) link

Obviously it won't provide any type of proof that Obama did anything, because he didn't, but it does have some documents that illustrate some of their more covert hacking techniques, including one that disguises the country of origin of CIA hacks, It'll provide plenty of material which the conspiracy nuts can try to use to connect dots that aren't there.

Well the thing here is:

A statement by Club for Growth president David McIntosh said “the problems with this bill are not just what’s in it, but also what’s missing: namely, the critical free-market solution of selling health insurance across state lines.”

Now: this is something Trump made a part of his stump speeches, and he said as much in a tweet today, I gather. Combined with there supposedly being two more 'phases' in the plan, it's possible it's mean to surface, but why it didn't surface sooner and why this has been handled the way it has = stupidity abounds, again.

insurance across state lines is moronic. 'oh I got this real cheap insurance from alabama I just need to fly 2,500 miles to see a doctor in network'

insurance across state lines is moronic

It's also directly at odds with the Federalist philosophizing behind the House GOP plan. Per WaPoo:

House Republicans on Monday released long-anticipated legislation to supplant the Affordable Care Act with a more conservative vision for the nation’s health care system, replacing federal insurance subsidies with a new form of individual tax credits and grants to help states shape their own policies.

Which means more of those "invisible imaginary lines" that Trump says inhibit better/cheaper health care.

The "across state lines" thing has been a sign they've been waving around as cure-all since 2006, right? I just remember the continually pointing to it as the thing tying their hands and preventing the market from showering down goodness upon all

I've got to admit, for the first time since the election I think I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. Russia stuff, ACA stuff, travel stuff, all at once. It feels like it's been the same day over and over again for a year.

This jumped out at me:

In general, the impact of the Republican bill would be particularly severe for older individuals, ages 55 to 64. Their costs would increase by $5,269 if the bill went into effect today and by $6,971 in 2020. Individuals with income below 250 percent of the federal poverty line would see their costs increase by $2,945 today and by $4,061 in 2020.

This is the GOP base why are they fucking them over? Freedom? You'd think they'd at least try to soak young people who never vote for them, but according to the article above they're the only ones 'saving' anything..

The GOP doesn't give a fuck about its base, who will continue voting for them as long as the party stays right with god on abortion, gay rights and non-whites.
