Xpost I can't tell who is being sarcastic or joking, but for the millionth time, we did get the oppo dump! Which is apparently, slowly, item-by-item, still being corroborated.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 10 March 2017 15:30 (seven years ago) link

we're in the post-dump trickle period iirc

We're in the all dump, all the time period now.

it is kinda hilarious seeing the Hannity types immediately scream for Obama investigation after Trump's evidence-less allegation whereas they're all "pump the brakes, this is all circumstantial" when it comes to Russia. which, y'know, actually has some evidence worth investigating.

wow, Trump down to -4 approval rating on Rasmussen poll that just came out.

For reference, his approval was highest on this poll (cos they've always had a Republican lean) and he started out at around +10. Pretty big swing, in line with the swings the other pollsters have shown.

it's almost like hannity types aren't really interested in being fair or balanced

pretty big swing

The biggest, most excellent swing

this is kinda like if we are all in the movie Bug, Trump is Michael Shannon's character, and the US has collectively decided to be Ashley Judd

deeerrrr it's been one month, pump the breaks CNN. a lot of this is still inherited from Obama, particularly since Trump hasn't really done much of anything in office yet.

Economists say it will be a challenge for Trump to fulfill his promise to create 25 million jobs over the next 10 years.

huh no shit

well there will be an uptick in morticians needed when the boomers begin dying en masse

waht, I am true black metal worrior (Neanderthal), Friday, 10 March 2017 15:54 (seven years ago) link

> create 25 million jobs

are there 25 million unemployed in the states?

koogs, Friday, 10 March 2017 15:57 (seven years ago) link

No, but once they eliminate the minimum wage, a whole lot of people will need some of those 25 million jobs. It's very forward thinking of the administration.

you guys need to pay better attention, Trump also promised to create 25 million people

waht, I am true black metal worrior (Neanderthal), Friday, 10 March 2017 16:00 (seven years ago) link

And I don't even think they're counting the jobs that will open up once people start dying in droves in their newly deregulated workplaces.

you can really taste the poor

kinda gamey

has US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson (recipient of the Russian Order of Friendship) explained yet why Wikileaks made public the CIA's cyber-espionage protocols and tactics? if i were comrade combover, i'd tell US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson (recipient of the Russian Order of Friendship) to blame it all on obama, and sic chaffetz back on hillz pronto, then lift the Crimean sanctions just to show the liberals who's boss. major tax cuts are at stake!

reggie (qualmsley), Friday, 10 March 2017 16:22 (seven years ago) link

Wait, are you saying you haven't heard any of the administration's vehement outrage towards Wikileaks over their dissemination of classified information? How could you possibly have missed it? They're completely livid about this outrageous violation and have vowed to take every possible step towards bringing Assange & co. to justice. As you would expect a presidential administration to do. You really should pay more attention to the news, friend.

Or maybe Turnip just made a jerk off motion at a camera while making a fart sound with his mouth. I can't remember which of those two things happened.

Sam Brownback might get out of Kansas: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/03/sam-brownback-might-not-be-governing-kansas-much-longer/519165/?utm_source=atltw

It's non sequiturs like this that really underlines to me how shitty republicans are: Brownback suffered his latest blow last week, when the Kansas Supreme Court ruled that the state’s funding of public schools violated the constitutional rights of minority students.

I'd been trying to discern when exactly the parties initially flipped and I had assumed it was a gradual process but based on something I was reading yesterday it sounds like it was more or less an instantaneous, catastrophic shift at the '64 GOP convention? And almost entirely (and unsurprisingly) because of race?

it isn't one moment, i wdn't say

don't forget there was a race brouhaha at the '64 Dem convention (two competing Mississippi delegations, one w/ Fannie Lou Hamer)

Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Friday, 10 March 2017 16:53 (seven years ago) link

I mean, I get that it was a confluence of a number of factors, but it seems like even a lot of GOP-ers were caught off guard by the sudden shift towards Goldwater extremism.

Nixon cut deal with Strom Thurmond in '68. That helped.

you still have liberal/centrist Republicans (like Jacob Javits) through the '70s

huh in that CJR stuff both beetbort and huffpo are a lot bigger in share qty than I woulda guessed vs old/"regular" media. sorta think huffpo seems more disproportionate to me.

wishy washy hippy variety hour (Hunt3r), Friday, 10 March 2017 17:22 (seven years ago) link

CJR could have also pointed out that breitbart infected the NYT and WaPo itself - by funding the work that produced Clinton Cash, which the WaPo and NYT then gained 'exclusive' publishing rights to the early scoops.
