ah sorry, i'm not beefing with you scott, just annoyed at the conversation from earlier in the day.

NC was blue in 08 and otherwise hasn't gone Dem since Carter. not even for clinton! it keeps seeming like it might be appropriate to just call it purple - the margins have changed a LOT since the bush years - and IIRC it was solidly in clinton's column circa september/october. but in the end it wasn't close.

yeah for the record "secession" is ridic and in no way would i support it. but gotta wonder if a Trump WH and v possibly a GOP majority gone wild for 4-8 years might have the left reexamining their stance on "states' rights"

There is no fighting the Trump part of the country. Let them have their racist, tax-free heartland.

What the fuck was all of this about?

Treeship, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 02:12 (seven years ago) link

In any case, this person's understanding of "red state" America is an obscene cartoon. Lots of different kinds of people live lots of different kinds of places. Demonizing all of them just plays into the hands of right wing demagogues who tell their audiences that liberal elitists demonize them.

I had a moment of weakness after the 'he didn't really mean wiretapping' shit today and went full-blown worst case scenario. it was a bad trip that I brought you along on. Apologies. I know it's absurd, but I want things to be different.

Hey man, we get it. Oh btw you now have to do penance with the rest of us on this endless thread.

Apparently the Trump camp put together their own AHCA estimates that were even uglier than the CBS ones.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-03-13/tillerson-used-alias-email-for-climate-messages-n-y-says

New York says Secretary of State Rex Tillerson used an email alias to discuss climate change while he was Exxon Mobil Corp.’s chief executive: Wayne Tracker.

Tillerson sent messages from the account to discuss the risks posed by climate change, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a court filing about his office’s fraud investigation of the company. Tillerson, whose middle name is Wayne, used the Wayne Tracker account on the Exxon system from at least 2008 through 2015, Schneiderman said.

and donald trump saw a kindred spirit

yet again, that is so ridiculous that i laugh out loud at it if it were a plot element in a movie or a book

dear exxon employees,

as a reminder, climate change is a hoax and also exxon is a leader in renewable energy development AND we might believe in climate change, but more research is needed. in the meantime, please send all messages related to climate change to our new environmental specialist, my top assistant who shall never be seen with me in the same room at the same time, that's right, i'm talking about "Wayne Tracker". please send emails about climate change to wa✧✧✧.r✧✧.trac✧✧✧@exxonmo✧✧✧.c✧✧.

Thanks!!

Every time I hear about people suggesting secession I'm reminded of the French aristocracy wanting to just before the French Revolution. Not sure how they thought they could physically secede and it didn't work out very well for them in the end as they were disposed of in other ways.

Conspiracy theorists have pointed to a number of recent deaths of Russian diplomats in the past four months.

Aren't we past the 'theorist' stage yet?

Oronov died aged 69 after spending three months at a specialist terminal cancer hospital in the US. His family gave a statement to the press iirc. He was neither Russian, nor a diplomat.

Doesn't the article call him a Ukrainian businessman? Nobody called him a Russian diplomat. Anyway, people connected to Trump and Russia and or Ukraine dying of natural causes all over the place.

What's the conspiracy theory here - Cohen's brother's father-in-law knows the Ukrainian MP who suggested a peace plan to Cohen and, despite Ukraine, Russia and the US all rejecting the proposal, the MP denying he gave it to Cohen and Cohen denying he passed anything on to Trump, Oronov needed to be silenced - by giving him terminal cancer months ago?

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 13:47 (seven years ago) link

There are a LOT of people connected to Trump and Russia and or Ukraine ;)

And tbf Russian men have a really low life expectancy. Because of all the cigarettes and vodka and political assassinations.

For more than 80 years now, we—the residents of what some people like to call Blue America, but which I prefer to think of as the United States of We Pay Our Own Damn Way—have shelled out far more in federal tax monies than we took in. We have funded massive infrastructure projects in your rural counties, subsidized your schools and your power plants and your nursing homes, sent you entire industries, and simultaneously absorbed the most destitute, unskilled, and oppressed portions of your populations, white and black alike.

that bluexit article is fucking vile and tremendously stupid, that person should be beaten.

blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 14:36 (seven years ago) link

yeah here's the thing the schools are still not doing great, nor are the nursing homes

also agriculture wasn't "sent" anywhere unless you're using an insanely long historical view

So, Trump makes bombshell BS claim that Obama tapped his phones. Doubles down and demands an investigation. Congress calls him on his bluff, and requests any proof related to the wiretap, if it exists. Justice department responds by ... requesting a delay. How weird is that?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 14:43 (seven years ago) link

it's not weird if you've grown up with money and never had a boss besides daddy. from that perspective, consequences are literally unthinkable

reggie (qualmsley), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 14:49 (seven years ago) link

what i still can't get over is how weird it was that james comey made so much noise about hillary nine days before the election, even while michael flynn was a paid turkish lobbyist and roger stone was tweeting guccifer, among 911 other impossible to imagine even five years ago shenanigans that were going down

reggie (qualmsley), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 14:54 (seven years ago) link

yeah "weird"

james comey trying to get into that "history's greatest monster" competition

mh 😏, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 14:57 (seven years ago) link

IMHO Comey is behind all the deaths you listed - he lined up Oronov as the fall guy for the doomed "peace plan" because he already knew his prognosis - and ShariVari is a CI, too
I have a newsletter
