fabulous quote:

"It pisses me off, but my wife pisses me off, too, and we’re still married,” said Dan Peuschold, 62, as he shared a $13 pitcher of beer with friends Saturday afternoon at the Hiawatha Bar & Grill in the Wisconsin village of Sturtevant.

Other Trump voters in Racine County say they don’t like that the wealthy may be first to secure a tax cut, but they’re giving the new president the benefit of the doubt that they’ll eventually see lower taxes, too.

“You would think they would be more for the lower-income people,” said David Fiskum, 62, a retired small business owner dining at a hamburger restaurant in the city of Racine. “I wish they had a better bill than what they’ve proposed.”

why would you think this

Rachel Luther Queen (DJP), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:22 (seven years ago) link

because you are a gullible moron

As if on cue:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/steve-bannon-and-the-making-of-an-economic-nationalist-1489516113

The introductory story's been told before but I still can't get over Bannon thinking "There was an injustice and the rich people got away with things in 2008! So I'll repeat that in 2017."

reggie (qualmsley), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:33 (seven years ago) link

so is barron behind the breitbart assaults on trumpcare or has breitbart turned on its former boss?

mark s, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:35 (seven years ago) link

yeah there's a hole in bannon's worldview a mile wide. the gop isnt going to give you your precious nazi style public work program for the common man. they dont give a fuck. sorry dude.

carthago delenda est (mayor jingleberries), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:35 (seven years ago) link

the rift between breitbort and the GOP over Trumpcare is kind of hilarious

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:36 (seven years ago) link

Bannon's not in charge of Beetbort anymore

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:38 (seven years ago) link

dunno why anyone's surprised that groups whose sole reason for existence is opposition (Freedom Caucus, Beetbort etc.) are reverting to form

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:39 (seven years ago) link

we should probably start taking bets on when the fringe right turns against Trump as an apostate against true conservatism. Maybe a full year?

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:40 (seven years ago) link

Depending on which fringe you're talking about, they've been turning on him all along.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:41 (seven years ago) link

well I don't consider the NRO fringe really

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:42 (seven years ago) link

If last year demonstrated anything, it's how little following the NRO etc really had.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:43 (seven years ago) link

but I get what you mean, it's a "big tent" lol

xp

latest approval figures are encouraging fwiw

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:44 (seven years ago) link

I guess I'm thinking about the fringe rightists who were hardcore Trumpists/his most ardent advocates - Beetbort, Alex Jones, various hate groups, those kind of people.

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:44 (seven years ago) link

link? xp

global tetrahedron, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:44 (seven years ago) link

so is barron behind the breitbart assaults on trumpcare or has breitbart turned on its former boss?

I know this was a typo, but Breitbart's politics are dumb enough that yeah, I could imagine a 10-year-old being in charge.

If you imagine it is Barron in control of the government right now, everything makes more sense.

dunno why anyone's surprised that groups whose sole reason for existence is opposition (Freedom Caucus, Beetbort etc.) are reverting to form

why would Beetbort be in opposition to their own guy though

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 19:59 (seven years ago) link

cuz he's not "their own guy" anymore, now he belongs to everybody

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:01 (seven years ago) link

also governing not the same as just being an asshole that shouts things in public

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:01 (seven years ago) link

Brietbart are indie fans, basically.

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:04 (seven years ago) link

@DougHenwood
Ryancare or Trumpcare or Dontcare or whatever would remove the economic burden of what the Nazis called useless eaters

Trump's America, March 2017: Using His Inside VOICE

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:40 (seven years ago) link

You mean just like Trump divested from everything and now remains totally uninvolved in his businesses? Uh huh.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:42 (seven years ago) link

do you guys have any idea about the internecine conflicts that constantly swirl around in Breitbart? Remember when Lewandowski punched one of their reporters? Remember how staffers/editors complained about Bannon's excessive pro-Trump angle? They're a gang of vengeful crackpots all out to stab each other in the back. If it's in their collective interests to turn on Trump and their former boss I don't see any reason why they wouldn't and, as noted above, they already have begun to on AHCA.

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:44 (seven years ago) link

The Mercers have their own agenda, which leans way more libertarian than Bannon's. They'll want repeal and replace to be a two-step, interrupted.

Sanpaku, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:45 (seven years ago) link

or are you guys gettin on yr tinfoil 5D Chess hats again and think that Bannon ordered his former employees to sabotage Trump and come out against the AHCA. Like, how does that make sense.

xp

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:45 (seven years ago) link

I think Bannon works for Bannon and sees Trump as a means to an apocalyptic end.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:50 (seven years ago) link

Mercers pushing an agenda closer to the FreedomWorks et al. line than Trump on AHCA makes sense re: the Beetbort opposition to the GOP bill

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 20:51 (seven years ago) link

lol sorry abt the bannon/barron typo, actually meant harkonnen obv

that's one of those Vic Berger 'shops, I think

frogbs, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 21:20 (seven years ago) link

Bannon doesn't actually have a face, just an interlinked network of bloated pustules

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 21:22 (seven years ago) link

if bannon is the last heir of house harkonnen he's more beast rabban than feyd rautha

carthago delenda est (mayor jingleberries), Tuesday, 14 March 2017 21:27 (seven years ago) link

Miller is obviously Feyd

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 21:33 (seven years ago) link

And thanks a lot for that, Bed.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 14 March 2017 21:35 (seven years ago) link
