That Bloomberg piece is so fucking heartbreaking and enraging.

as noted somewhere else, too, months ago: he's never actually been a CEO of a publicly traded company. his business is entirely his own and has never been subject to any kind of oversight

Was talking about just this with my wife last night. He's never even been responsible to shareholders! He must be losing his tiny mind.

Oh, and this is a truly joyous public pants-shitting. And after the travel ban fiasco, it's Strike Two. Really looking forward to his third power move, if this is how well 1 and 2 have gone.

Trump would strike out at T ball.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 24 March 2017 17:20 (seven years ago) link

I would guess he'll revert to a flurry of Executive Orders that are mostly symbolic to let the stink out of the news a little

Roger Stone is feisty!

Roger Stone tells me we wants to voluntarily testify before house intel. And in public. Letter from his lawyer will say that.

“(Bannon) has told the president to keep a shit list on this,” one official told The Daily Beast. "He wants a running tally of (the Republicans) who want to sink this…Not sure if I'd call it an 'enemies list,' per se, but I wouldn't want to be on it."

this seems benign until you realize Bannon's payback comes in the form of Breitbart brownshirt trolls not so much conventional political means

He left something on the field alright.

Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY), a key Trump ally in Congress, said part of the problem predicting Friday's vote result is that communications have broken down among House Republicans. "I've never seen this. People are refusing to talk to each other. They're storming past each other. This is not good," he told reporters. "There is bitterness within our conference that's going to take time to heal."

Swap out the bill for a one-pager that lowers Medicare’s eligibility age to 18, hold the vote. Boom, Trump declares victory.

Ned are you licking your chops for Darrel Issa's 2018 house campaign? Not sure if you're closer to OC than LA but I want this fucker to squirm.

Another no vote from Dave Joyce, meaning:

https://twitter.com/stevenportnoy/status/845331426065219586

Ned Raggett, Friday, 24 March 2017 17:52 (seven years ago) link

h8 to indulge in 5th-dimensional chess about these dingbats but i'm nervous

is there any possibility that the republicans are, essentially, faking the 'no' votes and that there will be a sea change at the last minute -- a move designed to demoralize the left / shore up trump's image as a last-minute dealmaker?

or am i just giving everyone way too much credit

jason waterfalls (gbx), Friday, 24 March 2017 17:53 (seven years ago) link

so does Ryan lose the speakership over this?

generally speaking, a Rep that publicly commits to vote one way and then actually votes another on the floor will get pilloried/laughed out of office

Οὖτις, Friday, 24 March 2017 17:54 (seven years ago) link

like Trump admin actually thinks no Congressmen will be brazen enough to vote "no" when that's, like, a thing they do, and often.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 24 March 2017 17:56 (seven years ago) link

man the wheels are really coming off now

According to [new Quinnipiac] poll, which surveyed 1,056 voters nationwide from March 16-21, 66 percent of respondents said they wanted an independent commission to investigate the links between Trump campaign advisers and the Russian government, compared to 29 percent who did not think so. Sixty-five percent of respondents think alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election is either “very important” or “somewhat important,” and 63 percent said they were “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” about Trump’s relationship with Russia.
