It's funny... the more time moves forward, the more Liam Gallagher stays in 1996!

In general, I don't give a shit about this guy, or his brother, or Blur, or any of it. But part of me really wants this album's first-week sales to be in the low triple digits. Just so maybe the music journalism world will move on, the way the music listening world has.

Me too, and I liked both Blur and Oasis in the '90s. But yeah, people have moved on, and this includes Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher.

Tremble, ye mighty:
Liam Gallagher has announced the title of his debut solo single ‘Wall of Glass’ which is now available to pre-order from https://wbr.ec/wallofglass_itunes. ‘Wall Of Glass’ is the first track to preview his forthcoming album ‘As You Were’. If you had to make an equation of all the elements that made the early Oasis singles so apocalyptically good – huge waves of guitar hooks, a melody you can’t shake, a thunderous rhythm and Liam Gallagher’s voice delivering an unbelievably catchy chorus - then ‘Wall Of Glass’ would be the result. Boosted by a contemporary, bass-heavy production, it’s a track that provides a fresh new angle to Liam’s sound while maintaining the traits that made him such an influential artist. With undeniable power and a yearning menace, it’s hard to recall a time that Liam has sung better – it’s like hearing him for the first time.
(This said his O2 Ritz show next week in Manchester will have all profits going to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, so good on him for that.)

Can menace be "yearning"?
― chr1sb3singer, Friday, 26 May 2017 13:12 (six years ago) link
Also Can Menace Be Yearning? would have been a fantastic album title.

A menacing yearn

eheh, an ILX cover album would be fun if - for once - the idea was to make an album that could really be an alternate version of the real album, not just the titles or the lenghts.chances are the ILX version would be much better than the original !

Bonehead would have been better used in the acapella LF
― calstars, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 10:16 (six years ago) link
i wonder how bonehead fills his days
what i'm saying really is that we need an interior life of bonehead thread

eheh. somehow, that makes me wonder what a scrabble game would have looked like with the original line up.

xxpostit reminds me of an intw of the G bros where noel said he didn't even know what "acquiesce" meant (liam then said HE knew, to which noel replied "define the word then? use it in a sentence")ah the good times.
― AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 10:30 (six years ago) link
definitely !
actually, liam could reform the original line up, minus noel, of course.

.. which is what I'm planning for mine. I have a skeleton track ready, just needs a three-syllable title. Ooh, look! Some.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 10:31 (six years ago) link
In fact, I might bagsy "Paper Crown" now.
Then again, fairs fair...
― Mark G, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 10:32 (six years ago) link
hum... ok, if this is done, I might take a track. but I guess the original tracklist is required (there might be some b-sides or else in that setlist).
― AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 10:36 (six years ago) link
Well, quite.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 10:40 (six years ago) link
can we have a whip-round and hire bonehead, guigsy and tony mccarroll to lay down the rhythm tracks on ilx's version? i imagine they're all looking for a gig

lol @ modern bonehead.

ah, liam might even end up singing our versions instead of his !
― AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 10:48 (six years ago) link
Yeah we need an actual tracklist in full before proceeding, but obviously take these initial cues if you like...
