This season is the rest of the series.

Old Lynch's Sex Paragraph (Phil D.), Thursday, 22 June 2017 00:22 (six years ago) link

I read it was two shorter seasons. 13 hours split over two seasons.

Einstein, Kazanga, Sitar (abanana), Thursday, 22 June 2017 00:30 (six years ago) link

That is correct.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 22 June 2017 00:44 (six years ago) link

I am nostalgic for the enthusiasm I felt for this show in the early seasons. knowing it's going to end, I'm like, okay, what are we going to replace this with to pass the time?

El Tomboto, Friday, 23 June 2017 03:15 (six years ago) link

GRRM smiles and reminds you of the four spinoff series. You will never leave the Westeros TV Cinematic Universe. Give in to it.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 June 2017 04:12 (six years ago) link

TV Cinematic Universe

I feel like this phrase contains multitudes

El Tomboto, Friday, 23 June 2017 04:22 (six years ago) link

We live in a world where the phrase 'Sony Marvel Universe' is used without irony.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 June 2017 04:28 (six years ago) link

I believe that is the 'Spider-verse'.

chap, Friday, 23 June 2017 08:56 (six years ago) link

I'm talking about the big screen universe of everything on the small screen

El Tomboto, Friday, 23 June 2017 11:39 (six years ago) link

like mister ed winding up on the OG battlestar galactica with everybody from coronation street, except everything is on a bigger budget and is 2.5 hours long
the big bad of the TVCU is probably dark willow from buffy

El Tomboto, Friday, 23 June 2017 13:59 (six years ago) link

A noble dream!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 June 2017 14:41 (six years ago) link

Would love a Coronation street/GOT mashup.

Heavy Doors (jed_), Saturday, 24 June 2017 00:53 (six years ago) link

I went on a float trip last weekend and my friend Dan revealed the entire ending of game of thrones. So it's pretty much ruined for me now. Just watching now to see how they capture it, I guess

Karl Malone, Saturday, 24 June 2017 02:44 (six years ago) link

It involves flames. And "snow"

Karl Malone, Saturday, 24 June 2017 03:00 (six years ago) link

If you didn't figure out the likely conclusion after season 1 then I don't what to tell you - shit is based on a "song of ice and fire" for crying out loud

El Tomboto, Saturday, 24 June 2017 12:26 (six years ago) link

Gee there's this existential threat to the whole human race coming down and it's all about cold and ice and you can only beat it with fire - and waaayyy over here there's dragons who breathe - oh man I got it! I got it dudes! They're all going to catch rock leprosy and die.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 24 June 2017 12:29 (six years ago) link

Close. They will fight the ice with rock hyraxes.

they were definitely getting ready to do things, though. definitely setting the table for things to happen

Karl Malone, Monday, 17 July 2017 07:33 (six years ago) link

putting the pieces back on the table, like they literally did in the last scene

good ep but I cringed hard at "we never did talk about Tommen" or w/ever, there must have been a thousand more graceful ways to introduce that subject

I like that the White Walkers now have at least three giants. that should make things fun.

Old Lynch's Sex Paragraph (Phil D.), Monday, 17 July 2017 14:16 (six years ago) link

Pilous Asbæk is so bad at this.

Frederik B, Monday, 17 July 2017 14:20 (six years ago) link

i have a hopeful theory that arya killing house frey was a symbolic gesture of the end of OTT rapesploitation and stupidly gratuitous female nudity on GoT, a tacit acknowledgement that the audience has grown to the point where those are bad directions to take the most popular show on television. whole lotta thick leather doublets on all the female leads in the first ep!
