I can't make heads or tails of the Sears rebrand:

corporations keeping absolutely terrible logos around forever and ever.

Ooh, I've got one! Whenever I see one of these trucks on the road, I assume some executive in 1961 was like "we're a trucking company, I don't give a fuck about branding, just draw something up and get back to doing real work. You have five minutes.", and the company has steadfastly maintained that position ever since:

Haha, 'ol J.B Hunt himself seems like just the kind of guy who'd say something like what I imagined:

Same logo since at least the early 80s. Looks like it was made with a potato stamp.

2018 has to be better (snoball), Friday, 4 May 2018 19:42 (five years ago) link

two years pass...

Gm and Kia have also both just unveiled some very lacklustre redesigns.

I mean, the Kia one looks a bit better than the old one, but Trent Reznor might not be pleased and no way does it read as K I A

GM discovers the instagram logo

I think the WB one isn't too bad as far as these things go. It's just a bit of a throwback. Usually logos without shading and gradients and beveling and and that kind of crap are better imo.

the GM one reminds me of this fancy top shelf ice cream brand that uses chemical symbols for their flavors ... Like Pb for Peanut Butter Stracciatela

The Kia one looks like a stretched version of the Nxivm sex cult brand -- the one the women got

sarahell, Wednesday, 20 January 2021 02:48 (three years ago) link

any company that goes from upper case to lower case letters in its logo is a washed up company that refuses to age with dignity. it has the same impact of a 60 year old wearing clothes featuring the supreme logo.

treeship., Wednesday, 20 January 2021 03:07 (three years ago) link

i agree about the kia nxivm-inspired logo. that is a company trying to build new associations in the mind of the consumer. exploiting neurolplasticity. growth hacking.

sarahell's comparison of "gm" to fancy ice cream logo is otm.

kinda annoyed now that I did this image search finding out that they have an Orange Honey Cardamom flavor that is not sold at my grocery store
