Design Crimes: corporations ditching classic logos for newer logos that are duds

Ever notice the arrow in the Ex? I think that's more intentional.

This observation is very OTM, however, the story I heard was that when Phil Knight was in his selling-shoes-out-the-back-of-his-car days, he noticed a co-worker doodling on a note pad. He said that he liked the little soosh design he had drawn and offered to buy the "rights" to it for something like $35.

I like the new xerox font. Looks like those 3D beach ball logos are very in.

urghhh way too snuggly, and facebook + xbox doesn't compute on any level. i can almost understand moving away from the (classic) rock of gibraltar thing but if so 'speed' and/or and 'intelligence' would have been more industry appropriate.

My favorites are the ugly black and red logos. Yo, you are on the internet, don't lead me to think I am doing business with some angry macho steroids guy.

i like the lower case, minimal logos so common these days. the latest pepsi one is cool.

Love how in the Starbucks thing "We become a publicly traded company" coincides with "Mermaid chick is no longer visibly spreading her tail-leg thingies"

The new logo makes it look more like a government agency.

I like it though.

Now it looks kinda more like "I brought you these two fish"

Actually it's appropriate because starbucks coffee kinda tastes like there were fish in the coffeemaker

the new one isn't terrible (apart from the shineyness effect thing) but the old one is so charming.
