would help if he had any sort of clue abt moving in the post--dude got stripped multiple times down there.

7 turnovers!

hugging used to mean something (call all destroyer), Monday, 8 June 2009 03:07 (fourteen years ago) link

bynum only played 16 minutes, so that means pau's on howard for most of the game. now according to official measurements gasol is 260 and howard is 265 but i find that hard to believe. seems like howard could push pau around/just out-muscle the guy. i guess if he had a more diverse post game? i don't really know what the solution with howard is.

xp

yeah absolutely. it would also help if he made his post move sooner. how many times does he stand there waiting for the lakers d to set before he makes his first step? xxp

collardio gelatinous, Monday, 8 June 2009 03:09 (fourteen years ago) link

howard doesn't have much of a post game at all yet.

collardio gelatinous, Monday, 8 June 2009 03:09 (fourteen years ago) link

this is the big unspoken thing about howard--dude is never going to develop the post game ppl are envisioning for him.

hugging used to mean something (call all destroyer), Monday, 8 June 2009 03:10 (fourteen years ago) link

how do you know?

Kobe: "We have to literally be inside their jerseys when they shoot the basketball."

xp i was reading simmons i think and he was otm about this--post moves are something you kind of either get intuitively or you don't.

"there's something joyless about this series, is it just me?"

This Ace of Base is driving me crazy (forksclovetofu), Monday, 8 June 2009 03:13 (fourteen years ago) link

howard obviously has a lot to work on but give credit to the lakers - theyre not letting him get shots off at all, fouling him hard and often and making him go 1-2 from the line every time.

and why?!? (k3vin k.), Monday, 8 June 2009 03:14 (fourteen years ago) link

lakers def doing their job.

collardio gelatinous, Monday, 8 June 2009 03:17 (fourteen years ago) link

oh and btw the joylessness comes from the fact that the one and only interesting story in this series is whether or not kobe Gets His

hugging used to mean something (call all destroyer), Monday, 8 June 2009 03:19 (fourteen years ago) link

and whether phil passes red

collardio gelatinous, Monday, 8 June 2009 03:20 (fourteen years ago) link

the "adam morrison is going to get a ring" storyline is pretty interesting to me.

(a more parochial concern, obv) xp

collardio gelatinous, Monday, 8 June 2009 03:21 (fourteen years ago) link

Rashard Lewis and Hedo are dope, imo.

got a taste of what to expect in orlando. hedo played some good defense imo. kobe has no fear though. after masterminding the end of the denver series he went back to brute force in game 1 and a long period of tentative 'playmaking' in this game, snapping out of it just in time and going for his. i think he's gonna destroy game 3. big lo

so many bad calls on both sides

~'-.,,.-'~'-. .-'~'-.,,.-'~ (tremendoid), Monday, 8 June 2009 05:57 (fourteen years ago) link

kobe got a couple all-star calls late but it wasn't too one-sided...have to expect the home team to get the calls

and why?!? (k3vin k.), Monday, 8 June 2009 06:00 (fourteen years ago) link

the nba is under fire i don't think we can expect anything other than this slow ticky tack bs

I'm really hoping tonight's game is a good one. I missed Sunday's due to a party for my wife's birthday (not complaining, just saying), and I missed the third quarter of Game One due to unforeseen idiocy on the part of who I was watching it with.

I'll take an LA win either way, though.

great game but holy shit the magic have to shoot over 60 percent to beat LA

collardio gelatinous, Wednesday, 10 June 2009 04:01 (fourteen years ago) link

alright i think all those worst series ever claims can be put to rest, both teams were shooting over 60 pct well into the third quarter, much better ball movement by orlando and (yes) they started to hit their shots. just glad this isnt going to be a sweep

makeitstop (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 10 June 2009 04:17 (fourteen years ago) link

it's hard to imagine orlando a)playing better than that or b)playing that well for three more games

Or the Lakers shooting that poorly from the line. Ugh. Kobe: Hit your f-ing shots, dude.

Two Will Get You Three (B.L.A.M.), Wednesday, 10 June 2009 07:00 (fourteen years ago) link

big shots man, kobe/rest of team switched mojo at the half, he was bobbling the ball and even missed a pretty easy layup for him. i like how you can just about tell whether or not rashard's shot is going in before he even brings it above his waist. and the only thing i like about an orl win is it means stan van gundy is 'on' during the press conference afterwards, dude got jokes
