just because...

hilarious to suggest that women need to vote for hrc because bitches need to stick together, and pretty funny too to imply that the mainstream media gives obama a free ride at her expense; if '30 rock' goes this way it will get boring very quickly, but i doubt it

Dimension 5ive, Sunday, 24 February 2008 16:27 (sixteen years ago) link

i dunno i used to get real madtv vibes & think she was really untalented but now i kinda think shes the funniest person on the show

truth. snl has always been the original american idol. there's often these moments when a new performer "breaks". wiig's moment was doing nancy pelosi, up until then she had been a waste of space, but the second she started doing pelosi's intensity eye stares she had the crowd eating out of the palm of her hand.

Tina Fey as Daisy on Rock of Love 2 was scary accurate! Actually all of them were scary accurate.

That pill commercial had me screaming with laughter! "Buy yourself a hat and hold the f*** out of it." haha

HI DERE, Sunday, 24 February 2008 16:59 (sixteen years ago) link

i laughed at the first bleep but nothing else in that

and what, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:03 (sixteen years ago) link

reminded me of arrested development

and what, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Tina rolling into work with an axe was basically exactly what I wanted to see.

HI DERE, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:06 (sixteen years ago) link

I love Fred Armisen, and I understand that they're kind of in a pinch, but his Obama is horrible.

totally.

and why are they in that pinch, i wonder.

s1ocki, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:09 (sixteen years ago) link

OMG the birth control pill commercial! Tina Fey with an axe! HOTT.

kate78, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:11 (sixteen years ago) link

i thought i heard kenan was gonna be obama

and what, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:12 (sixteen years ago) link

I totally get the pro-HRC slant displayed last night. The have a killer Bill impersonator and a killer Hillary impersonator but no Barack impersonator. They should just acknowledge that and let Kenan do some ridiculous completely un-Obamalike character, maybe as a split with Armisen so they end up with a Jeckyll/Hyde routine.

HI DERE, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:15 (sixteen years ago) link

So glad it's back. I don't think the audience got the milkshake sketch but Hader's impression and phrasing was awesome.

Michael F Gill, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:23 (sixteen years ago) link

the "I'M FINISHED!" followed by the little musical doop-dee-doo had me rofling.

For some reason last night I remembered Toonces after forgetting about it for a long time. One of their best bits ever, imho.

Hurting 2, Sunday, 24 February 2008 17:43 (sixteen years ago) link

remembering toonces, a memoir by hurting 2

xpost Tina Fex with a PINK axe. So perfect.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 24 February 2008 18:12 (sixteen years ago) link

only skit i saw was the milkshake one and i thought it was a disaster. i think the idea of plainview hosting a real food network show has potential, or it'd at least be better than bill hader literally reciting lines from the straight from the movie while kenan does the aw-shucks thing. armisen's chigurh was awful.

carrie underwood was cool though

jeff, Sunday, 24 February 2008 19:47 (sixteen years ago) link

carrie underwood's first song was great

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_Rose_Wilson

"Casey Rose Wilson is an actress most widely known as a featured member of the cast of Saturday Night Live (SNL)."

she is so widely known for that.

s1ocki, Sunday, 24 February 2008 21:27 (sixteen years ago) link

i didnt know there was a new girl on snl so every time i saw this young hot chick in the sketches i assumed it was carrie underwood and i was like damn shes better than amy poehler

and what, Sunday, 24 February 2008 21:36 (sixteen years ago) link

hilarious to suggest that women need to vote for hrc because bitches need to stick together, and pretty funny too to imply that the mainstream media gives obama a free ride at her expense

it was funny.

dan selzer, Sunday, 24 February 2008 22:22 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah it's not like it was convincing but it helps to keep perspective re: the election.

tremendoid, Sunday, 24 February 2008 23:06 (sixteen years ago) link

this new girl is pretty ridic

and what, Sunday, 9 March 2008 05:55 (sixteen years ago) link

SNL is running weirdly hot and cold this year (or at least since the strike). Last week was largely awful, but this week most of the sketches are genuinely funny. Amy Adams is probably helping a little, but I've finally decided Amy Pohler is a genius.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 9 March 2008 06:00 (sixteen years ago) link

i kinda go back n forth on poehler being a genius or the most unpleasant person ive ever seen in my life. i only caught the last 20 minutes tonight & nothing was funny but that new girl is bangin

and what, Sunday, 9 March 2008 06:01 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah so far I like the new girl, she really made that stupid dancing sketch work.

really liking Bill Hader lately.

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 9 March 2008 06:15 (sixteen years ago) link

and what:

we shall meet. pistols at dawn for the hand of casey rose wilson.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Sunday, 9 March 2008 06:22 (sixteen years ago) link

last two mostly sucked except for digital short and the School of Excellence, but tonight was much better. I do get sick of recurring characters, like Penelope, and that was a mostly weak Tim Calhoun...the best Tim Calhoun skits may be my favorite things ever.

dan selzer, Sunday, 9 March 2008 06:25 (sixteen years ago) link

still annoys me that 'digital short' is now a thing that people talk about like it's a big deal buzzword. it's a pre-taped sketch, BFD.

yeah we definitely don't need anymore Penelope sketches, though. shit is getting as repetitive as the Will Ferrell cheerleader shit at this point.

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 9 March 2008 06:30 (sixteen years ago) link

still annoys me that 'digital short' is now a thing that people talk about like it's a big deal buzzword.

People don't do this anymore. Dick In A Box was like 1.5 years ago.

Can anyone who is older than me and from New York enlighten me on what Tookie Styles was influenced by?

Whiney G. Weingarten, Sunday, 9 March 2008 06:33 (sixteen years ago) link

jean k jean haha

tremendoid, Sunday, 9 March 2008 08:20 (sixteen years ago) link

It's really too bad Amy Adams isn't a regular cast member, because I could see myself laughing through at least 10 more of those "Mirror Image" sketches.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 9 March 2008 08:22 (sixteen years ago) link

she's pretty funny.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 9 March 2008 09:08 (sixteen years ago) link

they were the worst band ive ever seen on snl i thnk. whiney: petey green?

chaki, Sunday, 9 March 2008 09:08 (sixteen years ago) link

chaki old bean i expect we'll disagree like gentlemen on this matter.

tremendoid, Sunday, 9 March 2008 09:23 (sixteen years ago) link

yah but you have to admit keyboard player's scarf was total ball licker style, they had no energy, and the singer was contrived and has a terrible voice as well as the worst guitar tone ive ever heard.

chaki, Sunday, 9 March 2008 09:29 (sixteen years ago) link

the guitar tone was laid on kind of thick i'll give you that.

tremendoid, Sunday, 9 March 2008 09:37 (sixteen years ago) link
