xp abbott: I'm one of those dorks that likes to read the archives of boards I'm on. But yeah -- definite learning curve.

I have to say I'm shocked and amazed you aren't a long-term regular posting under another name!

Oh I have a question now: do you share Dleone's predilection for far-out progressive awesomeness?

thank you, flipper, for nickelback (country matters), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:14 (fourteen years ago) link

Milton kinda looks like he could be my bf's older brother. I don't want to embarrass MP any further - he's kinda shy like that.

xp dleone and I have some similar musical interests -- his band is pretty good. We both like Magma.

(I'm curious if you know any of the people I knew who went to Brown now!)

her performance (ie, her pubes) stood out for me (HI DERE), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:16 (fourteen years ago) link

it's possible! I had kinda a bad reputation there ... nothing too significant or noteworthy ... but still, to the point where I sometimes hope that people don't remember me. I met a former classmate at a professional event, and he fortunately did not remember who I was.

incomprehensible Kool-Aid swallower (sarahel), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:18 (fourteen years ago) link

Most of the folks I know are computer ppl: 4D4m Sm1th '97, Chr1st1 4nd3rs3n '97 , G30rg3 K31th '95-'96 (also a big Irish fiddle dude)... There was also a dude named D4n J0hns0n who was in my high school class who went there on a running scholarship to study engineering (he was '95) and a pre-med cellist named L1s4 M1lls ('97). (There are others I was introduced but I'm blanking on names now; one I think was named B3tsy Hurd and I think she was '96...? And maybe Sc0tt R0l4nd '97? Plus a ton of other computer guys I haven't seen since like 1999.)

her performance (ie, her pubes) stood out for me (HI DERE), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:25 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh yeah, this dude named J0sh Br0wn, I can't remember if he was '96 or '97.

(I used to live with G30rg3 and 4d4m, which is how I met all of these people.)

her performance (ie, her pubes) stood out for me (HI DERE), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:26 (fourteen years ago) link

xp Dan: fuck - 4D4m, L1s4, and Sc0tt were all housemates of mine. Sc0tt, his now-wife, me, my bf at the time and another housemate all did shrooms together on the 4th of July once. We played Boggle waiting for them to kick in.

the Brown Alumni Magazine without fail contributes to feelings of inadequacy and insignificance. It's kinda like women's magazines that make you feel unattractive.

incomprehensible Kool-Aid swallower (sarahel), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:49 (fourteen years ago) link

no my cousin is "successful" :/

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:49 (fourteen years ago) link

seriously - the last issue featured a story about an attractive blond woman who predicted the financial crisis.

Modern Culture and Media, though you could major in Art-Semiotics, which I wasn't cool enough to do, because I was intimidated by having to take a studio art class and art history, because there were a lot of other students that had art history classes in high school, and I went to crappy public school that didn't.

can't find any rolling thread for music marketing/PR ppl

i started volunteering for a local music festival, so i said i would do publicity, and they finally sent me a copy of the press list, and i think it hasn't been updated in 10 years

so far I've got:
one contact that died 9 yrs ago
a dozen contacts for two major local publications that are defunct
almost every other publication leads to a "buy this domain" page
