Saw Aaron Neville last night (with a band featuring his brother Charles on sax) at the reopened Howard Theatre. Wow,at 71, he can still sing. Quite a range. Did 2 hours worth of covers--"A A change is Gonna Come," "Ain't No Sunshine," "Be My Baby," "Work with me Annie"....

Me too (but Aaron did not sing it last night. I forget the name of the Neville Brothers song he did. He always does "Tell it Like it is" both solo and with the Neville Brothers, but that's not the one I am thinking of.)

i also love this song. had a huge impact on me when i first heard it. i've played it for a number of people over the years, but some are turned off by the slick production & arrangement. squares.

ennnh... I can take or leave both of those covers. For a band that has long struggled to capture on a recording what makes them great, I think Yellow Moon does a good job, slickness or no. Decent originals, and some cool covers by Dylan and Link Wray. 1990s, post-Aaron duetting with Linda Ronstadt, is where the production really starts to get gloopy.

album loses steam in the back half, but the dylan covers are both great, also link wray's "fire & brimstone", sam cooke's "a change is gonna come". most of the originals aren't quite at that level (title track excepted), but i do like "my blood" and "sister rosa".

"A Change Is Gonna Come" is total Oh Mercy territory, with some dissonant synth leading into the sax solo. Great one.
