Interview with the Vampire TV series (2022)

Seven episodes of this! Who’s watching? I’m just catching up on it now.

Some absolutely lol lines in this which ofc is entirely in line with the source material

“I was a red-blooded son of the south, seeking ass before absolution.”

these vampires kinda gay fr

mh, Sunday, 23 October 2022 17:51 (three years ago)

It’s funny because it’s true and it’s also funny how extremely gay the process of becoming a vampire in this continuity is - and always has been. The drinking, the gasping, the savouring- even in the books when her vampires couldn’t have sex this was basically the next thing to it.

I really like the film adaptation but it’s so self serious. This is and always has been a very silly series and I don’t even mean that as an insult.

Thought the casting was amazing. The guy who plays Lestat actually playing French and speaking it as well was a nice surprise. Jacob Anderson is a really good Louis - introspective, grave, irresistibly drawn to Lestat. Lestat in this - and admittedly I’m only one episode in - probably the closest adaptation on first inspection. He even looks quite similar to the drawing on the old book covers.

https://pictures.abebooks.com/inventory/779886807.jpg

I liked the adaptational changes for Louis! Like, in the original book he’s a slave owner. It’s the least important part of his character. They do more to give him a background and family life in this first episode and that works for him too because he’s kind of depicted as being solitary and aloof even in his human life until the point he becomes a vampire. I saw an interview somewhere where the director was like “nobody wants to hear that story,” and honestly? Yes. They don’t make him a saint either, though. There’s still moral ambiguity.

I feel that you can’t really do this series without tons of DRAMA and DECADENCE and CATHOLICISM and everything and first episode delivered. Lestat veering from attached to fixated to obsessed to encouraging and back again is done really well, he’s a malign presence but one you like to see more of!

Also, modern day Louis living in Dubai is funny as fuck. Firstly, because if you’re going to buy an apartment where the sun is blocked out by specially made windows, then yeah, Dubai probably does that. Secondly, it’s a place where nobody is going to notice much if you never leave the house. Lastly, iirc from the one and only time I was in UAE, the sun sets early there. So all made sense but was also pretty funny. Maybe Louis got the money from being bought out by the techbros in San Francisco.

barry sito (gyac), Sunday, 23 October 2022 18:23 (three years ago)

Also, the book references are great. When Lestat talks about the violinist!

barry sito (gyac), Sunday, 23 October 2022 18:30 (three years ago)

I'm up to ep 3 on this, it's quite good fun and the Lestat guy is a huge improvement on Tom fk-ing Cruise in that crappy movie.

calzino, Sunday, 23 October 2022 18:53 (three years ago)

It is fun! That bit where there’s a quick cut from their fighting to the coffins and Lestat saying he doesn’t want to sleep angry is really funny.

barry sito (gyac), Sunday, 23 October 2022 18:59 (three years ago)

Did you eat the baby
DID YOU EAT THE BABY

barry sito (gyac), Sunday, 23 October 2022 19:02 (three years ago)

I vaguely remember they go to Europe in the movie, finished ep 5 and totally up for something similar happening in this. You sound like every Sorbonne student I've ever eaten.

calzino, Sunday, 23 October 2022 21:13 (three years ago)

Interview with Bailey Bass, who plays Claudia, here: https://decider.com/2022/10/23/interview-with-the-vampire-bailey-bass-claudia-interview/

I like this version of Claudia so far. Going with a 19 year old actress who could briefly play the character at age 14 works well.

mh, Monday, 24 October 2022 14:17 (three years ago)

Claudia’s age has always been controversial, I think she is 5(!) in the books, 10 in the film and so I have no objection to older. There’s a lot going on with the character that people found and find discomforting. I haven’t got to her yet.

barry sito (gyac), Monday, 24 October 2022 14:36 (three years ago)

I get how it'd kind of work in the books, the movie adaptation was creepy enough to hammer home the point that a kid never aging is fucked up, and the tv adaptation delivers a character that you're able to assign agency to and understand that this is an adult person. A ten year old is just never going to seem like an adult to us non-vampires, regardless of how great of a job Kirsten Dunst did

mh, Monday, 24 October 2022 14:41 (three years ago)

S1E6 has a TWIST

I wonder how much of this shit Louis has been lying about

mh, Sunday, 30 October 2022 15:41 (three years ago)

I need to watch the last few episodes bc have been distracted this week! I really liked Claudia when she was introduced.

he's really more of a child than the vampire that's stuck looking like a teenager

mh, Monday, 7 November 2022 19:55 (three years ago)

They used the same Haydn piece that was used in the film, love it

after several days on “the milk,” (gyac), Monday, 7 November 2022 20:00 (three years ago)

if it weren't for the the present day timeline where the retelling is taking place you'd think that Louis is going to spend a thousand uninterrupted years simping for Lestat

mh, Monday, 7 November 2022 20:13 (three years ago)

Rashid is apparently thousands of years old and imbued with ancient wisdom, but he still gets off on doing that "oooh, I could levitate over a doll's house" routine to startled mortals!

calzino, Monday, 7 November 2022 20:31 (three years ago)

That season ending omg. I thought he was Armand since the end of 6, and also, another casting choice I like, like in the novels Armand is maybe 14 and looks like a child and also everyone fancies him and…yeah.

Also there totally is/was a Louis/Lestat/Armand triangle in the series.

The thing I’m thinking about though is that Daniel (the journalist) ends up with Armand?

I looked up Assad Zaman (the actor who plays him) to see how old he is and he’s 38! Also loled at this on one of his casting pages:

Geordie (Native), Pakistani, Middle Eastern General, General Scottish, RP, Cockney

Can’t believe we were robbed of Geordie Armand.

Tbf he said he was only 500 or so years old, practically a baby really

after several days on “the milk,” (gyac), Monday, 7 November 2022 20:54 (three years ago)

I thought he said thousands, must have heard it wrong.

calzino, Monday, 7 November 2022 20:57 (three years ago)

ok i just started ep1 and I love it

you cant do this story without giving over to the OTT of it all and the movie did up to a point but i like that they have freedom here to push it to the full extent

it still feels inherently anne rice with all her kookiness but the new touches are welcome too, they struck a good balance. updating louis is such a great call bc he becomes interesting again & gives you a new way into a well trodden character

love how they lean into the violence & power of lestat & the goriness of the vampirism

lestat casting is A+

i did not expect to be this impressed right out of the gate, i’m SO in

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 8 November 2022 06:04 (three years ago)

"lestat casting is A+"

RIP tom cruise. I couldn't remember the details but this good casting choice does highlight how the author was correct about her misgivings over the movie at the time.

calzino, Tuesday, 8 November 2022 06:38 (three years ago)

to be clear i do actually like Cruise as Lestat as well

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 8 November 2022 15:15 (three years ago)

Cruise as Lestat is good! But the film is way too serious for the source material.

after several days on “the milk,” (gyac), Tuesday, 8 November 2022 15:15 (three years ago)

yeah i agree

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 8 November 2022 15:17 (three years ago)

I can much more easily see this continuity’s Lestat with a short lived campy rock career than I could Tom Cruise.

It’s really funny to see people rereading the book and sharing “spoilers” like this. Also, has inspired me to reread. The books are so cheesy but compulsive?

i am very fond of the books - the Mayfair Witches trilogy is fun too

one of my friends in high school got into her erotic fiction, all the nom de plume Rampling/Roquelare stuff, and she’d read racy bits to us while we ate lunch lol

but it helped contextualize the vampire novels when i read them, high drama high camp INTENSE EMOTIONS it’s very good fun

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 8 November 2022 17:00 (three years ago)

Incredibly otm. I’ve never read the witches books and I’m aware of the racy stuff by its reputation only - but I gather it was proper filth?

we’re progressing very slowly through the series but gosh I really do love it

we just finished ep5: the louis-lestat blowup over claudia was insanely epic… and the charles manson needledrop over the credits was ~chef’s kiss*

three weeks pass...

finished s1

goddamn, really impressed.

i said to mr veg, Louis is such a fucking balloon. he never really commits to a conviction. and Claudia, just true helldemon.

most of all i think they really captured Lestat so well, the lure of him, the massive ego, the violence. like he feels much more tangible and layered in this version. Cruise was good but it was a caricature. this version feels like everyone read the book & embraced it as a text, whereas the movie had a bit of ironic remove because of the time obv, like no one could really say with a straight face that they were making a vampire movie

anyway. 5 stars no notes. makes me want to reread the book again.

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 6 January 2023 05:46 (three years ago)

You should! You’re right about the ironic remove of the film as well.

I watched the first ep of Mayfair Witches

seems less artfully made than Interview, everything looks a little cheaper? idk. I’ll watch the whole thing regardless

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 12 January 2023 06:47 (three years ago)

Haven’t watched this yet but I will. Have you read that series? I know nothing about it.

(haven't watched any of this yet (interview i mean) despite yr strong and compelling recommendation, poster gyac, bcz i am currently trying to save money on everything except storage until i move house and sadly that includes streaming subs!)

(but once i move i will be back ITT no doubt)

mark s, Thursday, 12 January 2023 12:30 (three years ago)

Watched the first episode of Mayfair and agree with VG’s comment about the production quality - it seemed very Hallmark channel?

I’m actually reading the first book, The Witching Hour, and I’m about 10% in (it’s about 1000 pages long). The first twenty or so minutes of this show is confusing as fuck if you haven’t read this book, which is not great for an adaptation. It’s unfair to compare a bit but I watched both this and The Last of Us with my husband last night & he did not get the start of it at all. It’s not so much show don’t tell as just “idk here’s some stuff that happened”. Iirc this is the first time this series has been adapted, so unlike Interview with the Vampire which is already more of a known quantity, you kind of need to ease the audience in?

There’s also the kind of YA quality to the whole thing. Again, I’m not that far into the book? But the book is dark, and the tone is quite off?

I don’t know, I will probably keep watching while I read the book (I really like the book!) but it’s not as great as IWtV was from the start. Hopefully it gets better?!

bit high, bitch (gyac), Wednesday, 18 January 2023 13:28 (three years ago)

Mayfair Witches is so bad. So bad!

I’m not sure I can manage a third episode, I might just continue reading the book (which is great!)

i watched s2e1 and we are so back <3

new Claudia actress pretty good! same intensity, zero chill, no notes

also i need to state for the record what a genius bit of casting it has been for this series to have fuckin BOGOSIAN THA GOD as the interviewer

he grounds the whole thing so well with the epic sarcasm & eye rolls & just (stares, Bogosianly)

it really helps it play for a modern audience along with the story/character changes

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 21 May 2024 04:20 (two years ago)

I did not expect this to be so funny. Lestat breaking the priests' legs to fit them in the crypt lol

papal hotwife (milo z), Saturday, 25 May 2024 03:25 (two years ago)

I loved that bit where Santiago is snooping around Louis's pseudo-arty photography with a withering look on his face and he spits "wanker!". Ben Daniels has been excellent in S2.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Monday, 3 June 2024 17:08 (two years ago)

it's kind of funny because he's much more pretentious than Louis but that's just the kind of nasty hypocrite he is.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Monday, 3 June 2024 17:12 (two years ago)

Ep 12 “Dont Be Afraid Just Start The Tape”

i love how this show continues to color between the lines of the actual story so well… the Armand of this flashback episode is so good!

also loved Bogosian meta-mocking the interviewer’s “and then what?”

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 13 June 2024 05:08 (two years ago)

the trial-by-circus ep was so good

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Sunday, 23 June 2024 23:55 (two years ago)

love how well they’ve made Lestat/Louis/Armand feel like relationships, the weight of everything they survive feels so real, way more than even Rice did. It’s so fucking good.

Rock star action coming for season three:

According to an AMC press release: “In season three, resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller Interview With the Vampire, the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can—by starting a band and going on tour. Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed, and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time, and trauma. No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.”

such a great finale, delivers all the beats I was anticipating as a fan and still ups the ante

armand became such an interesting character this season, and they timed it right at the moment where i was completely bored by him, and they make that spefic element of the finale payoff so beautifully

acting all round is just chef’s kiss x 1000

“I never got into this business to do anything other than make believe and pretend. I feel more whole when I’m being somebody else than when I’m my own self, so the more deeply we can pretend when we’re making the show, the more deeply we can get into all of this, the higher I get from it. And when you’ve got guys like this who are ready to fly, I want to go flying with them.”

lovely stuff

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 14 July 2024 01:56 (two years ago)

While there hasn't been any official confirmation that Bogosian's performance and the character's background are inspired by Bourdain, it's hard to deny the similarities. Bogosian looks a bit like Bourdain, but his voice and inflections are almost identical to the late chef's. His snarky sense of humor is also reminiscent of Bourdain's, as he comments on Louis's various exploits with refreshing candor. While Daniel isn't the one being interviewed, he occasionally shares snippets of information about his own life, and we discover that he's a former drug addict (Bourdain struggled with heroin addiction), he used to write about food and restaurants, and he's been married twice (same as Bourdain).

E B does look and vibe a lot like Bourdain in this.

I can report that it is glorious

Her prose is so rich & insanely detailed, every paragraph is like its own little tapestry. I love it.

Finished the novel a couple of nights ago and... the show was better? Can't remember the last time I came away with that opinion but the show is a richer world top to bottom, TV Louis, Lestat and Claudia are all more fascinating characters, Armand certainly is by virtue of screen time if nothing else.

yes! i enjoyed them. (tbh i cant remember much of Taltos but the other 2 were v good) There’s only three in that series so it’s a bit easier to wrap your arms around that one.

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 22 April 2025 17:38 (one year ago)

Ta VG.

Can see she wrote those much earlier too than some of the Chronicles ones

groovypanda, Tuesday, 22 April 2025 17:44 (one year ago)

yeah a good rule of thumb, for me anyway, is 80’s/90’s Anne Rice is mostly good/fun/worthwhile.
The 00’s is when she really starts to noticeably lose the plot (literally and figuratively) and that stuff is very much a crapshoot, emphasis on crap lol

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 22 April 2025 18:01 (one year ago)

i stopped the vampire books after Tale of the Body Thief and even that was pushing it; IMO the first two are the only great ones.

The Witching Hour was great, maybe my favorite book of hers, but I didn't care that much for the follow up and then didn't pursue anything past it.

i am less interested in Talamasca but new Lestat trailer looks awwwwwesome as we knew to be true

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 27 July 2025 06:01 (eleven months ago)

Is Talamasca by the same people who make IWTV? Might be interested then

groovypanda, Monday, 28 July 2025 16:03 (eleven months ago)

Yeah it's a spinoff series.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 28 July 2025 16:04 (eleven months ago)

the talamasca agents or w/e were more prominent in the Mayfair Witches series but it's... not good

They're pretty prominent in the main series too once you get past the first couple of books

and thanks Ned xp

sidebar observation re Anne’s Vampire Chronicles

so far I have reread Interview, Vampire Lestat and am halfway thru Queen of The Damned … and i can say with authority that this woman is ALLERGIC to straightforward narrative

Interview is the only time she consistently tells a story. Vampire Lestat is 90% old vampires telling their backstory to other old vampires (through a third party who is telling their story to Lestat) Yay?
Lestat end with a couple of chapters of story and ends on a cliffanger — Queen of the Damned picks up the story KIND OF in the first 2 chapters and then proceeds to take us through a series of labyrinthine side story cul-de-sacs that are about every possible minor character and walk-on extra that refer tangentially to Lestat but there are zero (0) chapers involving Lestat himself or the story at hand for the first 2/3 of Queen of The Damned

I love her she is the best but omg she is insane & easily distracted by her own shiny new ideas.

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 9 August 2025 18:15 (eleven months ago)

also every Queen of the Damned chapter starts w a quote from Stan’s poetry because reasons/free publicity i guess? purely based on the poetry quoted i cant see anyone running out to read the collection titled (checks notes) “Whiteboy”(1976) but go off i guess

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 9 August 2025 18:19 (eleven months ago)

its very funny

Anne Rice was a LOT in every possible way <3

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 9 August 2025 18:20 (eleven months ago)

anyway it seems i had memoryholed the contents of all these books mostly because i barely recall any of it with this reread (despite reading these books a lot as a teen)

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 9 August 2025 18:56 (eleven months ago)

I've read the first 8 or 9 books in the last year and every subsequent book seems to be worse than the one before in terms of going off on 2, 3 or even 4 hundred pages of tangent where one of the characters tells the backstory of themselves/another character before returning to the main story for the last few chapters.

Currently reading the first Mayfair book and am on about page 700 (of 1,200) and that fucker left the main story behind about 400 odd pages ago with no end in sight yet to the entire fucking history of every single Mayfair. I can't even remember what the main characters were called at this point lol

groovypanda, Saturday, 9 August 2025 19:34 (eleven months ago)

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 June 2026 05:56 (one month ago)

That was an absolute blast. And utterly chaotic. So much to take in it almost demands a rewatch. Sam Reid just incredible.

groovypanda, Tuesday, 9 June 2026 19:37 (one month ago)

I was trying to figure out what one of Lestat's songs sounded like and determined I was thinking of "A Little Bit Alexis" from Schitt's Creek

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 9 June 2026 19:54 (one month ago)

I started watching this on Netflix in slightly grudging way. "Fine, I'll watch it, whatever, there's nothing else on" and am absolutely hooked. Watched season one over two days, and now I'm trying to ration out the episodes so I don't just burn through the whole thing immediately and be back to square one with nothing to watch. It's so good! I have nothing more insightful to say.

trishyb, Monday, 15 June 2026 13:44 (one month ago)

YAY :D

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 15 June 2026 14:53 (one month ago)

i stopped the vampire books after Tale of the Body Thief and even that was pushing it; IMO the first two are the only great ones.

I read the first two because someone else strong-armed me into it "oh, you like vampires, you'll love these", but I didn't really love them, and I don't really know why. All the lengthy descriptions of the blood feasting and exactly how it felt were not my thing, even though I understood that they gave these books a sexy edge and also gave vampires a reason to actually enjoy being vampires. But I'm glad that this series has just decided to replace the sexy blood thing with straightforward sexiness. Clothes still excellent, though. And even though when one thinks of Interview with the Vampire, one thinks of Paris, I was impressed by the wartime Romania episode. Gotta get those oldey worldey Europeans in there. It took me a while to place dudeface from the Gilded Age, but he was very good.

trishyb, Monday, 15 June 2026 15:27 (one month ago)

Yeah the updates the show has made to the period/timeline, and just modernizing it in a way that it retains the camp & melodrama but doesn’t feels so, idk, dusty & out of time
— they’ve made great choices so far

But it’s also one of those rare shows that really does revere the source material. Despite the update they’re not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. You can tell Rolin Jones, the writers & cast are pretty enamored with Rice & committed to serving the story. Just, in their own way.

Episode 2 was a LOT
It’s going to take some time for me to get used to the accent work; but I’m still having a ball.

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 15 June 2026 17:42 (one month ago)

and now I'm trying to ration out the episodes so I don't just burn through the whole thing immediately and be back to square one with nothing to watch. It's so good! I have nothing more insightful to say.

Lol. Lmao, even.

One of the many things I love about this show is the real sets, real locations, real costumes, real time taken over plot points but no feeling that anything is being spun out unnecessarily. I enjoyed it so much. And now I have to decide if I'm going to watch Lestat week by week or save it up and... who am I kidding.

trishyb, Friday, 19 June 2026 12:54 (one month ago)

Episode 3 “Toronto” a wild gnarly ride. I love all the fuckery.

music video Magnus looked like Peter Murphy I was fucking HOWLING it was so funny … and then the way they were gloves-off with his actual memory, like, not that I was “glad” but i felt the story was really served there. I always found that transformation so awful & brutal. For me another good signpost that Rollin Jones still gets this story in all the right ways.

That being said, Nicky didn’t really look very “Nicky” to me? like, so we’re just casting a regular-degular guy here? He was very shrug. But he did play the madness well at least.

Jennifer Ehle’s Gabriela continues to be completely wtf. In bad ways.

But back to the good. That scene w Louis & the waitress at the end. I gasped at seeing her & sobbed a little, was so unprepared for what that felt like!

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 June 2026 06:28 (one month ago)

Yep, another absolutely stellar episode. Just give Sam Reid all the awards now.

Gabriella sex scene was hilarious. Also lol at "What can I say? Serving cunt has its consequences"

groovypanda, Thursday, 25 June 2026 19:23 (one month ago)

"Don't do that. Just think it. I'm a vampire, just like you. Only, I didn't disrespect my face like you done. Is that Jar-Jar Binks dunking a basketball?"

If your ass is a Bible, 213 will regulate (Neanderthal), Saturday, 27 June 2026 03:35 (four weeks ago)

Agreed. Have been impressed at the quality throughout so far!

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 27 June 2026 03:42 (four weeks ago)

Maybe it wouldn't work, but in my head it's a bit of a pity that the whole of Lestat's life is getting the same number of episodes as the whole of Louis's life, when it's a much longer life. So the people who were significant to him get at most a few scenes to make their mark before they're gone. Like, I know that goes with the whole coked-up, out-of-control rush of this season, but I just sometimes wish that some bits could be a little more leisurely so you could get a chance to experience them a bit better before they're gone.

trishyb, Monday, 29 June 2026 09:36 (three weeks ago)

I agree, it would be nice to get a bit more time w them!
Plus you lose a little context with the chaotic back & forth time jumps. at the end of each ep you have to get your bearings of what actually happened lol

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 29 June 2026 14:47 (three weeks ago)

Mr Trish watched a bit of episode 4 over my shoulder last night. "Does he ever wear a shirt?" was his main question.

trishyb, Monday, 29 June 2026 14:57 (three weeks ago)

Haha! Answer is uh, sporadically

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 29 June 2026 15:04 (three weeks ago)

"He favours a cunty little kimono," was my answer.

trishyb, Monday, 29 June 2026 15:31 (three weeks ago)

Nailed it

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 29 June 2026 15:47 (three weeks ago)

I am soooo behind with this, but now I’m watching s2 finally and I love it!!! I’ll be back later with some thoughts but mental apparition Lestat is used sparingly but amazingly

Lestat: LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING ABOUT THE VAMPIRE ARMAND FROM WHEN I KNEW HIM

Armand: (reveals he knows Louis has been lying to him the whole time and he’s very disappointed)

Lestat: STILL A CUNT

hat stays on (gyac), Sunday, 5 July 2026 18:21 (two weeks ago)

A+

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 5 July 2026 18:29 (two weeks ago)

The way Lestat constantly undercuts all of Armand’s self-seriousness is one of many things that makes the show great

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 5 July 2026 18:30 (two weeks ago)

Only two episodes left! Goddammit.

trishyb, Sunday, 5 July 2026 18:40 (two weeks ago)

This week’s episode, damn. That Claudia song “Stained Glass Eyes”? Actually made me cry.

Also I’m so impressed with the adaptational changes, still, constantly. The way they’ve cut to the chase with all of the Marius Akasha stuff. Like they speed-run it but in such a smart way.

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 6 July 2026 05:39 (two weeks ago)

Up to final episode of s2 and that show trial in the theatre. Lestat just appearing behind the American soldier and Santiago hamming it tf up obviously highlights. Don’t know if you know this but this series is GAY GAY GAY and GAY ALL THE WAY.

hat stays on (gyac), Monday, 6 July 2026 10:18 (two weeks ago)

IT’S A GREAT FUCKING READ AND YOU’RE A HACK

hat stays on (gyac), Monday, 6 July 2026 17:56 (two weeks ago)

Lmao

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 6 July 2026 18:41 (two weeks ago)

I have not really cared about this season. Lestat’s way less interesting than Louis, the unlistenable music is a good gag until you make me listen to it for 5 minutes/episode, the vampire incest stuff is all “shock me shock me shock me with that deviant behavior.”

Lady Sovereign (Citizen) (milo z), Monday, 6 July 2026 18:52 (two weeks ago)

it's been a bit of a mess, but I think this latest episode was one of the strongest despite the very long song

whimsical skeedaddler (Moodles), Monday, 6 July 2026 19:06 (two weeks ago)

RONG the songs are great (cries)

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 6 July 2026 19:18 (two weeks ago)

I’m ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ about the songs but all the rest of that stuff is straight out of the books

hat stays on (gyac), Monday, 6 July 2026 19:56 (two weeks ago)

Lestat goes hunting wolves with his Dogue de Bordeaux!

hat stays on (gyac), Tuesday, 7 July 2026 14:20 (two weeks ago)

I really enjoy this show's sense of humour. Watching a sad vampire and his friend pedalo slowly back to shore after high emotions was very funny.

trishyb, Wednesday, 8 July 2026 09:14 (two weeks ago)

and when he first crashes out over the novel, clutching the book & crossing stuff out was SO good

nEEEEEVeR FUCKEEEENG HAPPENED!!!!!!!!!

hat stays on (gyac), Wednesday, 8 July 2026 19:21 (two weeks ago)

I’m only two episodes in mainly because I’m too lazy to pirate this so I’m having to watch it on Dailymotion on my phone (!!!) but I’m really pleased with the songs, I always thought them as sounding fucking terrible from the books so the fact they’re vaguely listenable is a huge W. I have to agree with Lestat and the critics though, Long Face kind of fucking sucks!

hat stays on (gyac), Wednesday, 8 July 2026 19:24 (two weeks ago)

Yeah the songs in the book are my least favorite thing

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 8 July 2026 19:41 (two weeks ago)

This is coming to Netflix on the 20th so just after the season ends on AMC, will probably rewatch then

hat stays on (gyac), Thursday, 9 July 2026 09:57 (two weeks ago)

I tell my husband that I am rewatching them all on Netflix so it asks AMC for another season. As fas as I know it hasn't been renewed yet.

trishyb, Sunday, 12 July 2026 15:21 (one week ago)

Anyway, quite the eventful episode.

trishyb, Sunday, 12 July 2026 15:55 (one week ago)

I heard on House of R podcast that AMC is fully supportive of further
season/s so that they can cover Queen of the Damned & Body Thief. Nothing announced yet so far but still, encouraging nonetheless

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 12 July 2026 17:29 (one week ago)

I’m really struggling with watching this on my phone ngl so I might wait till it comes to Netflix to finish

hat stays on (gyac), Sunday, 12 July 2026 18:33 (one week ago)

Yeah watching on phone seems like it would be not-great

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 12 July 2026 19:32 (one week ago)

Another killer episode.. maybe my favorite so far?

Reid & Anderson just have the best chemistry, I love the show so much but exponentially more when they’re together. And I appreciate that Jones has shaped the show around that to some extent.

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 13 July 2026 04:47 (one week ago)

UK peeps who aren't watching this via other means: the entire third season will be available to watch on iPlayer from 23 July

trishyb, Thursday, 16 July 2026 18:13 (one week ago)

And from a link on Reddit, various snippets that hint S4 is (hopefully) pretty much happening:

totally agree

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 17 July 2026 23:14 (one week ago)

Wait a minute, two mismatched guys with a wisecracking teen, one of them plays piano, sleeps with a lot of women, has a bitchy comeback for everything, and believes he's god's gift? They already are doing a reboot of Two and a Half Men.

Bog Dork (koogs), Saturday, 18 July 2026 13:47 (one week ago)

And they actually showed the first two seasons on BBC 2. It wasn’t an iPlayer-only deal.

Yeah, first two seasons are on iPlayer now xp

It's one of the best shows on TV in recent years and sadly, not many seem to watch it

did anyone watch the Talamasca series? if it's more of a slog than the Mayfair Witches one, I probably won't make an effort. that show had a handful of useful episodes across two seasons

mh, Monday, 20 July 2026 21:09 (five days ago)

Nah, unless it turns out I really can’t follow the main story without them, I’m not that interested.
