Because we demand it!
so, whats for lunch?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 23 January 2003 14:58 (twenty-three years ago)

it was various buffet type sandwiches (well, quarters anyway) mainly beef and horseradish. But now, to soothe my savage throat I have a big lump of nummy ice cream

chris (chris), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:10 (twenty-three years ago)

mushroom canapé followed by jugged hare with sauté potatoes and lemon sorbet (in a real frozen lemon no less). With a carafe of the house red. My boss took four of us out for lunch today for 'all our hard work'. Nice.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

The menu was varied and eclectic. Today, for some reason, my tastes were not. I had a plate of brussel sprouts.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

a lunch box full of carrot sticks. i'm not on a diet or anything but i have a load of carrots to use up in the next couple of days. oh, i had an orange too. i will be ruddy starving by tea time.

rener (rener), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:38 (twenty-three years ago)

A packet of Quavers and two wee Mr Kipling apple pies. I have strange eating habits recently, it worries me.

smee (smee), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Also, you will be orange.

I'm eating lunch with everyone from work after a mandatory meeting. Mandatory lunch. But at least we're going out to a restaurant instead of being forced to eat something someone brings in.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I meant rener will be orange, not smee.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks for clearing that up, I was even more worried!

smee (smee), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:44 (twenty-three years ago)

canteen carrot and potato soup and some leftover rigatoni and bolognaise sauce from home

leigh (leigh), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Er, something. I still haven't even had breakfast.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Leftover stir-fry from last night featuring cashews, snow peas, chicken, lots of very hot peppers, and orange zest.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I had SWEDISH MEATBALLS (one of which was suspiciously pink on the inside, I did not eat it), a TON of spicy chickpeas and some broccoli in honour of the famed BOND d00d. Also I had a carton of Ribena, choosing to SHUN the Irn Bru which has so far been my lunchtime subsistence of choice.

I am now drinking cough medicine because I am a crip.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 23 January 2003 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Something called, laughably, a 'risotto bake'. It wasn't even made with rice!

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Food From and Inspired by Risotto!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I went home and made sandwiches. hmm, Chunky Dairylea triangles.

Graham (graham), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

They've got some sort of neanderthal superbowl buffet thing going in the cafeteria today, which I want no part of for $6.50. I guess I'll have a bowl of soup.

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Leftover pasta.

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Baked salmon and mange tout (salmon was on special offer when I went shopping today, it's going to be a Salmon Stake Week)

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 23 January 2003 17:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Or Steak even.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 23 January 2003 17:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Also, you will be orange.

hooray! tomorrow i will eat some spinach followed by a granny smith. this could be FUN!

rener (rener), Thursday, 23 January 2003 17:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to feed my non-size 28 ass by going to get pizza with sundried tomato pesto, spinach, mozarella, and artichoke hearts. Boo-yah!

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 23 January 2003 17:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Mmmm... I just had a roast beef sandwich with a side of potato salad from the deli across from work. Usually I don't go there cuz it's a bit expensive for what you get but since it's colder than Hoth out ("Your tawntawn won't make it past the second marker") I decided to stay close to home.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Thursday, 23 January 2003 17:40 (twenty-three years ago)

ramen noodles, but that was sort of disappointing for some reason. i wonder what's for dinner....

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

chicken caesar salad and Diet Coke

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel genuinely sorry for people outside the north west of England in that they do not have "Sayers". It's your one stop pasty shop, so beloved by a friend of mine that he bought an entire tray of their veggie sausage rolls last time he was here. From your stalwart Cheese and Onion Pasty, to the rich goodness of a Steak Slice and the awesome but unfortunately seasonal Turkey and Stuffing pasty, it is one of the wonders of the modern world.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Ham sandwich and a Belgian bun.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Instant soup and Vegitarian bacon cheese chips.

brg30 (brg30), Thursday, 23 January 2003 20:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Roast pork and Chinese broccoli.

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 23 January 2003 20:27 (twenty-three years ago)

some veggie sushi with an unholy amount of wasabi. and a glass of orange juice with wasabi in it. ok, no, i didn't put it in the orange juice, but i probably would've if i had thought of it at the time.

geeta, Thursday, 23 January 2003 20:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I wanted Sean to answer but he's probably off shaving the carrots.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 23 January 2003 21:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Grilled chicken and pasta, and now I'm having a hot chocolate (I can't stop drinking these lately).

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 23 January 2003 21:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I want a double double from In 'N Out with fries and a chocolate shake... I'm having a chinese chicken salad. Damn.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 23 January 2003 21:43 (twenty-three years ago)

"shaving the carrots"

huh huh huh

(I forgot about that!)

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 23 January 2003 22:56 (twenty-three years ago)

You're only just having lunch??

B-b-but it's nearly bedtime.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 23 January 2003 23:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Prix-fixe Indian lunch on 6th street right next to the door so it was freezing where Matos and I charmed (bored) our lunchmates with frequent refereces to the joys of ILE. I had vegetable korma. MM had chicken something, I think. I also had really good spicy tea, but they forgot to put the milk in it as I asked so I couldn't be all Anglo-Indian.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 23 January 2003 23:55 (twenty-three years ago)

What the fuck?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I wanted Sean to answer but he's probably off shaving the carrots.
In reality, I have absolutely no clue what this is supposed to mean, but it sounds like it should be on the pubic hair trimming thread. I know that I grate carrots and sometimes use a veg peeler to put thin strips of carrot into salads, but...

To answer your question, though, I barely ever know, but it usually falls into one of these categories:
1) Asian noodles with vegetables and chicken
2) MACdonalds or something, on the days when I'm bad
3) Nothing at all but coffee, on the days when I'm at my worst

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 27 January 2003 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

grating the carrots, my mistake.

Geez, your a few days behind, keep up.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 27 January 2003 15:17 (twenty-three years ago)

These pretzels are making me thirsty.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 27 January 2003 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

grating the carrots, my mistake.
I still have no clue what this has to do with me. I don't think I've ever talked about carrots around you.

Geez, your a few days behind, keep up.
Oddly, I don't read every thread. Someone (ahem) had to point this out to me before I realized that some baseless speculation about me was taking place here.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 27 January 2003 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

You were describing all the steps involved in making your salad for lunch the next day and why you could not stay.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 27 January 2003 15:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I must have had more beer than I thought. Holy.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 27 January 2003 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm actually more surprised that you remembered that than the fact that I said it, considering what I heard about the rest of the evening.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 27 January 2003 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Im bad at pool no matter how much I drink.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 27 January 2003 16:20 (twenty-three years ago)

The answer today, by the way, was Teen Burgers from A&W. You can hear my arteries hardening, probably.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 27 January 2003 20:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Spinach pie, yum!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 27 January 2003 20:52 (twenty-three years ago)

spinach pie is great!

i made a greek salad and am baking bread now

days off = roXoR

geeta (geeta), Monday, 27 January 2003 21:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Perhaps the "shaving the carrots" innuendo happened after Sean left? We were getting a bit silly, and I might have been concussed from that fall I took. We're bad people.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 04:50 (twenty-three years ago)

today, a chicken burrito and red power ade

A Nairn (moretap), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 04:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I ate sushi for lunch today. My favorite is unagi.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 04:55 (twenty-three years ago)

school cafeteria burger and fries.

That Girl (thatgirl), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 04:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Steak and potato soup.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 04:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Two slices from Ray's Pizza, a blessing and a comfort.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 05:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Perhaps the "shaving the carrots" innuendo happened after Sean left?

No, we were trying to tempt him to stay and asking him what he was going to make for lunch and why the hell he claimed he had to be sober to make a salad. Carrot shavings or shave carrots was one of the steps. I merely thought it was a great euphanism.

Hey you may have fallen but at least neither of us was laying down on the pool tables, flashing a table of our friends.

Today, 2 sandwiches, one roast beef, the other Montreal smoked meat topped with a few slices of hot genoea salomi both on an Italian loaf.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Unagi = eel = one of my favorite sushis also.

For lunch today...

Smoked salmon wrap w/ capers & cream cheese & spinach...yummers!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 15:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I had thw worlds most boring lunch today. Micro Noodles

smee (smee), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

No, we were trying to tempt him to stay and asking him what he was going to make for lunch and why the hell he claimed he had to be sober to make a salad.

Sheesh, I was just saying that I had to go home to make sure it got done at ALL. The last thing I was going to do, if I staggered in at 11pm, is try to cook anything (or shred anything...or shave anything. Oh no! Dan Perry to thread!)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

a crisp sandwich

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

i had sandwiches that i made last night containing parma ham/cherry tomatoes/taleggio/nice olive oil. they were great.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

A bagel. Chex mix. Tea.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 21:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Cheesecake! (so healthy, I know)

M, Tuesday, 28 January 2003 21:19 (twenty-three years ago)

three weeks pass...
I'm meeting Jared, the Subway Guy at the Subway across the street today!!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 20 February 2003 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm sort of broke today so I'm having a bubble tea for lunch. $1.50 for iced milk tea with a bunch of tapioca balls in it. It's very filling.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 21 February 2003 06:16 (twenty-three years ago)

It's Friday so there is going tom be some delicious fish dish - I JUST KNOW IT. Will update on bloated return!

Lara (Lara), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I've already eaten my cheese rolls. For breakfast though had a choc croissant fresh from the oven! Oh, the joys of being mates with the head chef of the uni's poshest hall! For tea I am having booze.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Cheese and onion omlette.

Ed (dali), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:42 (twenty-three years ago)

THING!!!

Even though I actually feel too sick too eat and I bet my purple sprouting broccoli has sprouted and gone bad...

kate, Friday, 21 February 2003 12:44 (twenty-three years ago)

My head hurts, so a liberal application of greasy sausage rolls from Greggs downstairs will be the trick, methinks. Although I was just wishing that I'd made nice couscous with cherry tomatoes and spring onions before going out last night. I had the ingredients, why didn't I do it? Because Justin Timerlake was performing on the Brits TV coverage. Bah humbug.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Greggs... ::drools:: Not as nice as Percy Ingles (it's called PERCYS!!! I love it!!! Anything called Percy just HAS to be good!) but mmmmmm. Dammit, I have to walk past the Greggs to go buy batteries in Leather Lane, can I resist?

kate, Friday, 21 February 2003 12:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Of course not. Simply smell the filthy aromas emanating from the doorway, lunge past the single teenage mothers crowding the place with their pushchairs, purchase sweet sweet lard. Feel disgusted with self. Buy batteries.

I may also buy a nice piece of fruit from the posh greengrocers next door on the other side of the office in order to adjust my karmic balance.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch? I shall shortly be taking advantage of the ceremonious departure from our esteemed institution of a group of Japanese students to GORGE MYSELF on finger food. Num.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

As long as there's sake to go with, and hence a drunken Archel on wobbly language tape recovery duties this afternoon. Tee hee.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:53 (twenty-three years ago)

either leftover mac and cheese or a slimfast bar. These are about the only options I have at home. Otherwise it's eating in the school cafeteria. F Grade meat dumped on chips and cheese or mystery meat burger with a funny aftertaste. ::shudder::

That Girl (thatgirl), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Mm I usually get quite aggressive when I've been daytime tippling. So it'll be all 'NO EMAILING on these PCs you FUCKERS' and 'NO MOBILE PHONES EVER AGAIN' and 'WHO'S taken our ONLY COPY of Test Your Listening???' etc etc.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 21 February 2003 13:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I can actually resist Greggs. I can NOT resist Percys. On Hoxton Street, there was a Greggs and a Percys right next door to each other, it was like walking the gauntlet trying to get home. The lovely ladies of Percy's would just see me coming and get the apple turnovers out... Why don't they have Percys West of Old Street? it doesn't seem fair!

Somehow the THING that I am making seems less and less appealing...

kate, Friday, 21 February 2003 13:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I am going to have hommos and turkish coffee for my lunch.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 21 February 2003 13:06 (twenty-three years ago)

You're going to a Turkish bath with some homos? Way to go DV! Women at the FAP, men for lunch!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 13:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Suzy is at the Turkish Baths right now! She always told me she went for the sauna! And all along she was going for the HOMOS?!?!? I feel so LIED TO...

Mmmm, I really want Percy's. I am actually contemplating walking all the way to Hoxton for some.

(Yes, I am just getting off on writing Percy over and over again with impunity cause I'm talking about a tearoom and not a crush)

kate, Friday, 21 February 2003 13:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I am going to have hommos and turkish coffee for my lunch.

The DV has a very cultured palate. I had a vegetable tortilla but there must have been a sale on mushroom and I hate them. It was yuck. I had some Jelly Tots for dessert, though. So, order is restored!

Lara (Lara), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am eating potato curry and DAL for lunch - I made a big batch yesterday. It is even nicer today!!

I need a HUGE BAR OF MILK CHOCOLATE though.

Sarah (starry), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Curries are best when they mature. You need to watch them and guzzle them down just before the mould begins to sprout!

Lara (Lara), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick's patented 3-day-uni-chilli was always an event. Spicy on the first day, hot on the second, painful but rewarding on the third!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick's patented 3-day-uuni-chilli was always an event. Spicy on the first day, hot on the second, painful but rewarding on the third!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:12 (twenty-three years ago)

So good he posted twice!

Lara (Lara), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I was too hungry for hommos so I ordered a panini, which then took forever to appear. Grrrr!

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

My usual ciabatta with ham and cheese, except then I went for a beer with a close friend (Andrew L's former flatmate!).

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 21 February 2003 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Shepards Pie leftovers from last night and a spare pickle from todays vendor meeting.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 21 February 2003 20:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Ooh! I just had a tasty chunk of chewy herby bread liberally interpolated with big squishy black olives, followed by a lovely apple turnover. From the Greek patisserie across Wood Green High Road, which (for those of you eagerly awaiting new installments of The Matrix) is called Neo's. Yum.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 6 March 2003 14:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Cous cous w/ lentils soup, cheese crackers with peanut butter (the kind from vending machines)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 6 March 2003 19:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Food of some sort, but what? And I'm two minutes away from it...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 March 2003 19:58 (twenty-three years ago)

need a burrito today...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 6 March 2003 20:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm having Spring Vegetable Cup-a-Soup, some wasabi peas I found under some papers on my desk, and gummi worms. I live a poor existence.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 March 2003 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I want gummy worms!

Sarah McL (coco), Thursday, 6 March 2003 20:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll send you some. Someone in our office brought in a whole tub!

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 6 March 2003 20:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Ended up going for a baby spinach salad and some frozen yogurt, that works.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 March 2003 21:08 (twenty-three years ago)

four months pass...
Breakfast before lunch, so its revive time for this thread.

Lunch is today chicken and onions in a peanut sauce (supplied by the good folks at presidents choice) on rice. Of course varying amounts of pepper, chili powder and tabasco is also present.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Peanuts. Ungh.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Nothing. I literally have 37 cents to my name, and I am usually too busy in the morning to think to bring a lunch.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

A cup of vegetarian beef-noodle soup.

NA. (Nick A.), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

fish and chips and mushy peas and curry sauce and a seat in the sun and a beer - all after work and all lovely

james (james), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Smoked sausage, celery, and a Diet Coke.

j.lu (j.lu), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Lunch today is an elegant mystery. I will solve it in due course.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Cigarettes and coffee.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Maple syrup and jam. Oh wait.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Wheat Thins

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Samosas and coconut macaroons.

Jodi (Celerina), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

meeting food = chicken wraps, tuna sandwiches, slices of watermelon and OJ, quite nice really.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Otherwise it's eating in the school cafeteria. F Grade meat dumped on chips and cheese or mystery meat burger with a funny aftertaste. ::shudder::

I have to eat in a "school" cafeteria, too. This office resembles high school in so so many ways, from the big pep rally banners ("GM Overnight Test Drive! Yay!") to the food. Most days, the menu is pretty bleak. Brown with a side of green, and a roll -- $5. Today it looks okay. Pork chops with broccoli and cauliflower and vegetable soup. And I still have salad from yesterday, because that's what I eat most every day, and the things are huge.

Is there such a thing as "lettuce poisoning"? Cause I think I may be running a risk of it.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh! What I wouldn't give for some meeting food! Those lunch trays from Jason's Deli are amazing. I'm dreaming of a fruit cup and some coldcuts.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Lunch today was a pesto chicken sandwich at Fazoli's (an Italian fast food type place, for those who don't know it). They do not roast their roasted red peppers enough, but for four bucks, it was pretty good. I'd meant to have a salad today, though, cause I've got a crapload of work to do and work best hungry; but we were near the area and hungry.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Kenan, I wish I ate like you salad! my body is envious of yours.

Today: Ramen noodles with siracha sauce and a beer.

That Girl (thatgirl), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

pineapple sherbet

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

lahmajun. lemonade.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Tep, I say this as a friend: stay away from Fazoli's! It tastes decent, but I always feel ill afterwards. Haven't had a sandwich there though--just pasta--so those might be okay.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmm.. Lunch with mom at a Mexican restaurant appropriately named MEXICO. I got a cheese enchilada and some spanish rice. Water to drink. Then we split a virgin pina colada.

Sarah MCLusky (coco), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

4 blocks tofu, 2 slices of grilled eggplant, one hardboiled egg, a handful of chickpeas/garbonzo beans... my coworker predicted i'll be eating my desk by 3pm.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

a really runny "all-natural" pbj + tostitos

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'm thinking Fazoli's is a bit on the heavy side and a bit on the greasy side. The girlfriend really likes their fettucine alfredo for some reason, and craves this with odd frequency. It's right next to the sushi place, though, so when that craving doesn't strike I steer us in favor of that.

Am in fact feeling a bit eh. Should've stuck to salad. Pesto chicken is not the fuel on which to write a Hobbes-and-Locke paper.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

ever notice all girlfriends love fetticine alfredo < /seinfeld >

chaki (chaki), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

ugh, i feel all greasy and unsatisfied now

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

It took me a few visits to realize that Fazoli's is just an Italian McDonald's.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Jess I sympathize, PB&J is an all-too-common lunch copout for me.

But today I went nuts and had a poutine. I'd forgotten how much it rules.

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Though I couldn't finish the damn thing.

Note to Mtl visitors: if you're in the Old Montreal area & you don't want to blow a wad on lunch, check out Louigi's poutine! Some of the best in the city!

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too, it's gotten kinda bad. But I am going to a semi-"nice" place to eat in an hour so maybe I can keep the badness at bay.

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Eating out is my greatest indulgence. that's depressing

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

You'd think if I had to have some kind of Great Indulgence it'd be something a little more exotic, like bathing in truffle oil or something

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha mine too! getting a burrito is my de sadean vice.

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

And ordering in food, Chinese or Indian, which I refer to as "doing a Bad Thing." easily the most depressingly banal use of that statement ever.

*stomach growls*

For lunch today, I had a bag of Cheetos and a 20-oz bottle of Diet Coke. But wait, that's not all! I also had a bottle of water I brought home with me, too.

Lord knows what dinner's going to be. I am craving Hamburger Helper something awful. What else would taste good right now, dream of dreams, is a Thanksgiving-style dinner. Even some hot dogs and homemade cole slaw would be nice for dinner.

Hmph.

I've had lunch already, sandwich and gloopy, polymer-based chicken soup, nothing to write home about. But waiting for me in my fridge at home is most of the rest of a Chicago-style pizza from (appropriately) Chicago's Pizza. It's so good the second day. The sauce is a thing of perfection. The cheese is neverending. Mine has spinach and mushrooms as well. I am going to walk in the door, run to the refrigerator, throw open the door, say, "Hellooooo beautiful!" and just push my face into about three slices.

And then, a nap.

I have a microwave curry concoction at my desk, but I'm thinking about going to Potbelly's instead!

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Friday, 19 November 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost

Ok... is the pregnant lady going to leave her lunch at a swanky restaurant? And then you're going to pick it up for her?

I'd expect it to be cold.

Kenan (kenan), Friday, 19 November 2004 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG potbelly's! I'm going to do a yahoo search right now and find the nearest one. Couldn't be that far, right?

Kenan (kenan), Friday, 19 November 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

There's one right around the corner from me.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Friday, 19 November 2004 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

kelsey (kelstarry), Friday, 19 November 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I always say, you can name anything anything. You can name a white boy "Sanjay" if you really want to. People will get used to it.

Kenan (kenan), Friday, 19 November 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought I was going to hate the lunch that I had so lovingly prepared [read: diet food] but it's yummy! Tasty rice salad that has chickpeas, cucumber, celery, butter beans, mixed taco beans (black eyed beans, kidney beans etc) in a spicy tomato sauce. Yum yum!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 12 January 2005 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds good!

I've got rubbish economy Sainsburys Cauliflower Cheese because the good stuff was in a bloody tin package that couldn't be nuked! Drat!

Just had a wrap from Star Chicken (which is like the future of semi-fast food).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I had... OH, GOD!... a beef and meatball combo sandwich. The bread was purely decorative.

sunburned and snowblind (kenan), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

You ever eat something that just makes you feel like less of a human being? That's where I am. I am a pathetic, bloated sack of meat. I'm going to have to waddle home today.

sunburned and snowblind (kenan), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 17 March 2005 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 17 March 2005 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a bridie. Now I have indigestion. It was worth it.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 17 March 2005 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 17 March 2005 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Today we're having BIG OFFICE ST. PADDY'S DAY/BIG BASKETBALL GAMEDAY POTLUCK. Some of the offerings include: corned beef and cabbage, soda bread galore, shitty overcooked green beans, some kinda rice pilaf with lots of green things in it, a big bread bowl of kick-ass spinach dip, a bunch of other crappy crap prepared probably late last night in anger by my coworkers, and blue koolaid! And we get to watch a basketball game on a big tv and not do like JACK SHIT at all!

ianinportland (ianinportland), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a salad from Rocky Roccoco's for lunch, but we're making shrimp po' boys for dinner!

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you ever wish you could cross-list your posts onto multiple threads. I just revived a "fake meat" thread with what I'm having for lunch.

Jordan -- Rocky Rococo's? Are those still around? We used to have them in the Chicago area and then about 15 years ago they all turned into Pizza Huts.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

What I've had to eat today by n/a:
Breakfast - cup o' coffee
Midmorning snack - reduced fat Cheese Nips
Lunch - avocado, pretzel nuggets, RC cola

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, they used to be all over Wisconsin but I think there was a culling at some point. There is one in the mall where my office is, right down the hall. Luckily I've stopped eating the greasy blocks of pizza they serve there in favor of the salad bar.

Even better, though, is the Rocky Roccoco's Party Pizzeria by my apartment. They serve beer and have air hockey (and a movie theater for kids, but who cares about that) there!

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep having these really disgusting-smelling burps.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Leftover pizza, Old English.

kirsten (kirsten), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I still have half a sandwich! I believe I will step outside for a moment and eat it. It's quite nice out today.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Jeez! I thought pizza and Old English was a good lunch. I usually have a handful of peanuts or something.

kirsten (kirsten), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Gabbnebb wins at lunch.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

The sandwich was pretty good, although it was supposed to have fresh mozzarella on it but they were out, so I had provelone instead. It also had a good tomato, basil, cucumber, and basalmic dressing on it, and the bread was quite nice. I got sleepy after I ate it and took a couch nap, I hope nobody missed me at work.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

couch nap!

I am green with envy.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Gyros!

I am hungry with envy.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Er.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

no lunch

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

CWP/JBR: It was not so heavenly, being from an old man on the street and all. But I must say that I'd never considered doing Italian sausage like a gyro, and it turns out to be a good idea -- the tzatziki does a good job of cutting any fatty or greasy tendencies in the sausage itself.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

lunch was a $2.99 turkey/provo kaiser from fry's (the supermarket not the electronics chain). and a propel "fitness water," lemon flavor.

cindy williams permafrost (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Lunch is right now, and it is a chicken breast marinated in soy and honey that I fried and sliced up, over a bed of jasmine rice with some stir fried leek, spinach and mushroom.

ian quiche-lorraine (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:24 (twenty years ago)

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:25 (twenty years ago)

We had some uh... I forgot. Ratatouille! That's it. With rice and baked minced meat.

nathalie's pocket revolution (stevie nixed), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

This is one of those days where it seems like there isn't enough food in the world.

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Lunch was a tomato sandwich, some chips (crisps) and a Reed's Ginger Ale. I crave bacon, so tonight is going to be bacon, biscuits and gravy, and fried eggs. Possibly a pot of coffee also.
