so who is going then?

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Me!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I might, if it's not sold out by the time I haf mungy.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:51 (twenty-three years ago)

According to that news story, there will be one less stage at the festival this year. What do you reckon will get the chop? The second dance tent, perhaps? Or maybe the New Bands Tent.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Abso-fucking-lutely not. You nutters.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:53 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm torn - last year had its moments but i felt like there was something missing and i'm not sure i REALLY enjoyed it - and thats having bought a ticket whereas I hadnt before - I expect the line-up will be shite tho, who's gonna play? fuckin R.E.M.?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Radio 1 just said "a smaller dance tent".

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:58 (twenty-three years ago)

What, as in the smaller dance tent that was there last year, or will the main dance tent be smaller?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh sorry, they said the other dance tent had to go.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I WILL be there this year, having bought a ticket as soon as they go on sale.

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:01 (twenty-three years ago)

I will probably not be there as I have to go to a wedding.

Boo.

And the London Bootleg Orchestra was so going to headline the New Bands tent.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:02 (twenty-three years ago)

it was great last year! way fewer munters, more chilled atmosphere. Harder to find spangles, admittedly, but you can't have everything.

I hope they don't get rid of the New Bands Tent as the last few times I have seen lots of great stuff there. Maybe they will get rid of one of the dance tents... I mean do you really need a dance tent, the slapbag tent, and the Glade? isn't there another dance venue as well?

what they really need is a Pop Tent (I am saying this so people do not dub me ROCKIST).

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:03 (twenty-three years ago)

What Mark C said.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be enjoying Radiohead on Saturday night from the comfort of my couch at home.

leigh (leigh), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:05 (twenty-three years ago)

What they really need is a huge pup tent.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that a tent with a huge puppy in it, or a huge tent full of puppies?

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:18 (twenty-three years ago)

This year, I think it would be really good if they got loads of top-line alternative rock bands.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:19 (twenty-three years ago)

It's an enormous bra, Ricky.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I want to go!! But the money thing might mean I have to GRR and GRIT MY TEETH all in capital letters.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be there.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be there, representing the LBO.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

(do you see)

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that you pushing over a Portaloo?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:39 (twenty-three years ago)

There is also good news for the people I will be going with - Isabel is getting me a tent for my birthday so you will not be shamed by the unpleasant brown thing.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Har har so camping near the portaloos again har har

Toms Action Man tent is a work of wonder.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I will be donating it to a museum.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I liked our field last year. It was v handy for stuff and also things (and very far away from the 'ardkore hippies++). This year I will also attempt to bring a tent of my own so if I am germ-ridden I do not transmit my pox sorry Emma.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:51 (twenty-three years ago)

you will not be shamed by the unpleasant brown thing.

I don't even want to ask.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:54 (twenty-three years ago)

This year I will be going on a 3 month pre Glasto immune system boosting programme involving 1 billion grammes per day of echinacea, vit c, zinc etc. so poxes cannot penetrate my immune shield.

Emma, Tuesday, 18 February 2003 13:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Why don't you just get a Pete graft?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 14:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Pete hasn't done a days graft in ages. lazy sod.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 14:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Pete's DNA mingles with mine OVER MY DEAD BODY which would render the whole immune system boosting thing futile.

Emma, Tuesday, 18 February 2003 14:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I really wanna go but last year at T in the Park I got pushed over in a portaloo. I still get nightmares. I could get a catheter fitted I suppose....

smee (smee), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 14:08 (twenty-three years ago)

That is a good idea Emma, I shall attempt to do the same (and probably end up twisting an ankle or something anyway and only hearing the pounding techno beatz0r from my tent miles away).

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 14:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope there will be a tent full of puppies.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 15:09 (twenty-three years ago)

There are usually a couple near the Healing Field if it's nice weather.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 15:11 (twenty-three years ago)

and tickets go on sale...when then ?

time to revive the '02 thread all about glasto,
who's clever and can put up the link ?

god i'm going with all nobs on.

rem
radiohead
...prince ?

piscesboy, Tuesday, 18 February 2003 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

the experience i had at the Rizla tent on the Friday night coupled with the majestic sunny weather that accompanied our drive down to the site on the Wednesday are currently the only reasons i want to go again this year

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

WHat experience did you have in the Rizla tent on Friday. Cos I know what experience I had in the Rizla tent on Friday - and its name was Osymiso.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 16:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Rizla tent on Friday = highlight of Glastonbury 2002

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

f*ckin hell we were *all* in the rizla on the friday night then ?
if memory serves it ran /0symys0/erol/freelance hellraiser.

o what a night.
the p*lls weren't bad either.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:24 (twenty-three years ago)

ILXers (known to me) in/around the Rizla Tent on the Friday - me, Pete, Starry Sarah, Alix, Emma, Alan T, Carsmile

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh god otherwise known as the day after the Perry before... I seem to remember sitting on the floor at one point and feeling very chilled out indeed but I don't even think I was "altered" in any way... perhaps it was Tom's banana milk.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Banana milk? Along with the unpleasant brown thing, I now have the fear.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:29 (twenty-three years ago)

And you haven't even factored in the dad stools...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

unfortunately i missed all the hot bootleg action, and have been haunted by this missed opportunity ever since.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Alang you were there later I'm sure of it. I am sure of it because it was you who told me "House Of Jealous Lovers" was by The Rapture...wasn't it?

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:37 (twenty-three years ago)

yes i was in the Rizla cafe at exactly the same time as you ILX guys - this was before i became a regular on here of course - Osymyso was excellent, then later on came Erol Alkan with a brilliant set (will never forget that Rapture into Dead Or Alive moment) and the place absolutely exploded when Freelance Hellraiser entered the arena - you might have seen me i was drifting around in a fez hat. you couldnt move in there at that point but in the early evening it was nice and easy

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I was at fatboy/timo/darren emerson on the friday. rizla tent afterwards briefly, I danced to Flat Beat by Mr Oizo.

They can get rid of the Smirnoff Experience Tent or whatever for all I care, it didn't have anyone I was into anyway, though it's a shame if it means the other stuff will be packed. The Glade is classic and I'd be devastated if they didn't have DJs there, it was the best stage last year I thought, even if none of my favourites played there apart from the Stanton Warriors.

Anyway Radio 1's stage is better than any of the official dance ones, and had the biggest and probably most expensive dance act playing on the Thursday last year, apart from Fatboy, X-Press 2. It's annoying how I can't get involved in the speculation cos the djs all just announce a week or two before. I would love if Underworld played though obviously.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:40 (twenty-three years ago)

FC Kahuna, Audio Bullys and James n Eddy from XFM also DJ'd in there inbetween Osy, Erol and Roy

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

RONAN IF I COME AND UNDERWORLD PLAY I WILL SEE YOU DOWN THE FRONT

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

i really have to hear and see and generally experience 'Dinosaur Adventure 3D' live now you see

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah I saw it but it was before the album was out alas.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

i turned up at the tent after all the action. i don't recall no Rapture info. in fact, i don't think i'd even heard of the Rapture at that point.

best times i've had at glasto have been Underworld/Orbital/druckqs inspired, so if Underworld are lined up I will have to: a)Listen to the recent album (!) b)get sorted (as I believe the young uns say)

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 17:50 (twenty-three years ago)

DJ wise, I'd love to see Jacques Lu Cont, but it's such a lottery who knows.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 18:11 (twenty-three years ago)

What lottery? There is no lottery.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 18:15 (twenty-three years ago)

oh we need Jacques in the Dance Tent, plus a live PA from Tok Tok and Soffy O

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 18:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm thinking of going to Reading this year. When is Glasto, I reckon it might clash with Bon Jovi in Hyde Park. Do you think Tatu will play?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 18:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Do you mean 'play' play?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 18:21 (twenty-three years ago)

as in perform their wonderful songs (of course)

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 18:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope they have a tent full of preppies.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 21:31 (twenty-three years ago)

count me in obv.

FAP(erry), Brothers Bar, Jazz World, Thursday Nite, 7pm (onwards) LBO performance starting around 10 i'd guess...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 10:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd be very surprised if Underworld didn't headline the other stage on one night this year.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 10:33 (twenty-three years ago)

hmm, why did i think tix went on sale on saturday...

http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/INDEX.HTML

says 31st of march, and they should know i guess...

oh well, this is good as it gives me a chance to "save up" (haha)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 3 March 2003 09:41 (twenty-three years ago)

four weeks pass...
109 fucking quid?

Fuck. I guess I'll be able to sell it to the RickyT's of this world if I bottle out.

Graham (graham), Monday, 31 March 2003 09:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Dammit. Well, if tickets don't sell out for a month or so I can probably get one then if not HAVE FUN YOU MONEY-ED UP GETS.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 31 March 2003 09:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I just tried to buy my ticket:

"There were further errors found on your form.
There are not enough tickets left to cover the amount you requested. Please enter a lower amount or try back later when more tickets may have been allocated.
You should be taken back to the order form.
If you are not then please press the back button on your browser."

This has been agony. Slooooow. Way Ahead, Aloud, Ticketmaster, eFestivals all suck cock. *keeps trying*. 112,500 tickets do not sell out in that time. Especially when the websites dont work.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 31 March 2003 09:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I haven't had my confirmation email yet.

Graham (graham), Monday, 31 March 2003 09:29 (twenty-three years ago)

who is playing?

jel -- (jel), Monday, 31 March 2003 09:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha - everyone knows the ticks don't go on say until th 13th April. You have been hit but the oldest web hoax in the book and your credit cards will now get wiped.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 31 March 2003 09:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah well, I've just realised I only paid in the cheques that are meant to be paying for this on Friday, so it'll probably be wiped anyway.

Graham (graham), Monday, 31 March 2003 09:35 (twenty-three years ago)

The email's arrived. Make that £112.65. Dear God, they charge postage as well?

Graham (graham), Monday, 31 March 2003 10:38 (twenty-three years ago)

That's, like, a million euro!

Lara (Lara), Monday, 31 March 2003 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Right Graham I'll see you at Underworld on the Friday. I think I will buy my ticket this evening. I booked flights last night.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Who is supposed to be replacing Prince?

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Stereophonics. Ha ha.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:22 (twenty-three years ago)

EWWWWWWWWWW

To think I once considered going...

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Glasto update please?

Why is Prince not going? Will all his purple togs be in the wash?

Lara (Lara), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:30 (twenty-three years ago)

All of Pete's comments should be disregarded as he is cross cos he cannot go and is coming over all sour grapesy about it. ha.

Emma, Monday, 31 March 2003 12:30 (twenty-three years ago)

why can't you go Pete? (ps: ha ha)

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:32 (twenty-three years ago)

He was banned from the county of Somerset following an incident with some perry, a cowpat and a farmer's daughter.

Emma, Monday, 31 March 2003 12:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Not necessarily in that order.

I am at a wedding. Booo.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:37 (twenty-three years ago)

if they appeal to the local council and build a massive fence around him maybe the ban will be lifted

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:38 (twenty-three years ago)

But Ronan, how would you contain the smell?

Lara (Lara), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Matt - I had no luck either till I tried ticketline.co.uk, which worked without a hitch.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Dear MR GEE,

Many thanks for your recent order the details of which are below -

You have booked to attend GLASTONBURY 2003 at Worthy Farm Pilton-Somerset on
27-29th June

:-)

toby (tsg20), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:49 (twenty-three years ago)

!!!!!!!!!!!!
! STOP !
! RUBBING !
! IT !
! IN !
!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pete (Pete), Monday, 31 March 2003 12:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey Pete, there's plenty of other festivals - how about Reading? ha ha. sorry.

Emma, Monday, 31 March 2003 13:05 (twenty-three years ago)

you could pretend the couch was glastonbury, and play your favourite cds

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I am about to book two tickets on my creaky credit card. Ouch. Emma haf you booked already? You will be pleased to know I will not need to share a tent with you this year on a lot of levels. I will try not to get the POX also.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:08 (twenty-three years ago)

How quickly are these tickets likely to sell out?

Lara (Lara), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I got a nice man to book my ticket for me as we are not allowed modern interweb access on Mondays before 14:00. The nice man booked 4, 2 for me & him and 2 extra. No doubt these have been snapped up but it might be worth checking with him Sarah?

You are welcome to share a tent with us. (this might be a lie). I have commenced the immune system boosting programme. So far today I have had no booze. at all!

Emma, Monday, 31 March 2003 13:12 (twenty-three years ago)

pete don't panic.
even if it sells out in record time,
there are message boards at efestivals
and virtual festivals, and last year i got
one for a mate at face value from one
(cant recall which) 2 weeks before the fest.
it's always the way - there are always
masses of cancellations/people who can't go/ etc.
try also the mojo message board.

piscesboy, Monday, 31 March 2003 13:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I will probably be selling my tickets for a tenner in mid-June...

Lara (Lara), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

do you reckon the war will still be on during Glasto? maybe on the last day they could draft all festival goers and ship us off to Iraq to retake Um Qasr.

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Re-take?? Take, you mean?

Lara (Lara), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

blimey, booking through aloud.com was well easy, maybe it's just cos i missed the rush first thing this morning...

zoe ball just said "tickets were selling out fast" on xfm, and gave a stupidly long list of bands who are "rumoured to be playing" including eminem (unlikely), ozric tentacles (only too bloody likely) and SUGABABES (blimX0r, in the mis-teeq slot i'd imagine).

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:53 (twenty-three years ago)

bah, my order was going swimmingly until it turned out the Co-op bank had a server crash this morning (OR THAT'S THEIR STORY AT LEAST). I have re-ordered through aloud. no probs.

Alan (Alan), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:53 (twenty-three years ago)

You are not the nice man I thought you to be?

Lara (Lara), Monday, 31 March 2003 13:57 (twenty-three years ago)

oh and if sugababes are headlining the dance tent I'll, I'll, I'll get fucked and wander around the glade

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 31 March 2003 14:04 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, poor old ronan, if there's one pop band in the dance tent on the saturday, where else can you possibly hear any dancy-dancy music?

...apart from the second stage, the glade, rizla (if it's there), possibly jazz, certainly several of the green fields and, oh yes, every burger van on site...

...pity the poor indie boy why don't you ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 31 March 2003 14:28 (twenty-three years ago)

don't forget the radio 1 stage Steve, haha. Nah I'd just like to actually spend some time in the dance tent, I thought it was a nice setup but noone I liked played there really. Having said that yeah what am I complaining about, radio1 stage and the glade are pretty stunning.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 31 March 2003 14:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Hold on, back up a minute.

Dear MR GEE,

Toby, is that your actual surname? I thought you were being phonetic and stuff.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 31 March 2003 14:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Cheers for that Steve, ticketline were odd with me but aloud.com = no probs! Top jums and two tickets for me.

GIVE ME MONEY other ticket wanting person :)

Sarah (starry), Monday, 31 March 2003 14:44 (twenty-three years ago)

HOORAY! I will give you money at booze up, yes?

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 31 March 2003 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to be seeing the bset live band on planet earth that weekend, yay!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 31 March 2003 15:02 (twenty-three years ago)

What booze up?

Sarah (starry), Monday, 31 March 2003 15:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Sure thing Ronan!

Graham (graham), Monday, 31 March 2003 15:24 (twenty-three years ago)

jel, i didn't know poison had reformed...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 06:56 (twenty-three years ago)

eh, it's sold out.

COCKFARM.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 07:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Whaaaaat?! Already?! DV, I was getting some odd error messages whilst trying to book yesterday so perhaps trying some other booking places might 'elp?

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 07:43 (twenty-three years ago)

does anyone know any of these mysterious other booking places? the one I've tried is also sold out.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I got mine through aloud.com...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:06 (twenty-three years ago)

That's the main (and only official) one, and it's sold out. As is ticketline. Jebus.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Cockgoblins. I can't believe they sold out of 135000 tickets in 24 hours

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:21 (twenty-three years ago)

They usually release some more later (though a trickle) - and don't worry, be happy. There's a grebt wedding in Guildford that weekend you can go to instead.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:22 (twenty-three years ago)

And one in Edinburgh too...

Glasto 2003 is GO(ne)

chris (chris), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Ticketmaster and First Call had sold out yesterday. The only other one I can think of is Stargreen.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Crikey. It's for the best I didn't get that Gamecube...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:41 (twenty-three years ago)

have fun y'all

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 08:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Touts have credit cards too shock!

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 09:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Toby, is that your actual surname? I thought you were being phonetic and stuff.

Yes.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 09:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Maha! The headliner for the third night is Moby.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:28 (twenty-three years ago)

"other places" = cockfarmers on e-bay asking £150+ methinks...

this is true bastardry of the highest order, i take it people were ordering 4, then another 4 ad infinitum.

also putting a bid in on e-bay is risky for any number of reasons, not least the fact that tix usually aren't sent out til beginning of june.

oh christ, moby... come back prince'sjazzset all is forgiven

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:29 (twenty-three years ago)

You can usually pick one up off someone along the way for not too much. If all else fails, pounce on people about to give up their spare tickets to a tout and get into a fight.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:31 (twenty-three years ago)

a mud fight!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I wonder why they sold out so quickly. It was weeks before I bought mine last year. I blame the sunny weather and legions of Radiohead fans.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Is there ecstacy in the Glastonbury mud and/or free sex? The clamor for tickets is kind of surprising.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe the war has addled everyone's brains.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:35 (twenty-three years ago)

In answer to your question, Nicole - yes almost certainly.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:36 (twenty-three years ago)

This is what happens when you announce Radiohead and REM as headliners months before tickets go on sale. There's a lot to be said for keeping the lineup secret.

I suspect there will be an awful lot of small groups this year. Of the 15 odd people that were supposed to be coming with me, only one has bought a ticket.

So who's coming then? Hands up.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I I I

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Me.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:47 (twenty-three years ago)

This thread title was kinda prophetic wasn't it?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I am! I'm so glad I forgot to wait for cheques to clear - I should get away with it though.

This is probably a good time to ask does anyone want to share a tent? The plan is to find some Oxford people who are going, but if that doesn't work out (NB I do have a tent of my own).

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:48 (twenty-three years ago)

N. is that pictogram meant to represent you and two equally skinny mates?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 11:55 (twenty-three years ago)

It is the stilt man with a comedy nob.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 12:06 (twenty-three years ago)

A self portrait?

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 12:12 (twenty-three years ago)

We're back on track.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 12:13 (twenty-three years ago)

The day Nick desribes himself as a comedy nob is the day you become redundant Nicole.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 12:14 (twenty-three years ago)

SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.

This is a fucking disaster, delete me, DELETE ME FOREVER.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 13:28 (twenty-three years ago)

bah, I started this thread and EVERYONE IN THE WORLD is going to Glasto except me.

and Ronan, evidently.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 13:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not going either and I've never been to one, if it makes you feel any better.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 13:34 (twenty-three years ago)

thank you Jesus, my brother and his flatmate had a mixup whereby flatmate got a ticket for my brother and my brother got one for himself, he emailed me just now to answer my cry for help text message. Thank god.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Wow. Good thing I bought tix for Mrs Mooro & her two mates last night, by the look of things. aloud.com was saying there were only 4 left when I placed my order but I thought they were just shitting me.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 13:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Mooro polished off the stock of Glasto tickets! Cor.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 14:10 (twenty-three years ago)

he is to blame.

CRUCIFY HIM.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 19:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Shouldn't we be blaming hstencil?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 19:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Now now, Martin. No one likes a show off.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 19:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I think if we all took that attitude, Graham, ILX would grind to a halt.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 19:23 (twenty-three years ago)

To defeat the touts all that is needed is for the power of the internet to be harnessed. Everyone going to Glastonbury with spare tickets they need to offload should arrange to meet those needing them at a place nearby. If demand outstrips supply or vice versa then a perfect market price can perhaps be allowed to evolve.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 19:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I want Glastonbury to give capitalism back to the people.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 19:28 (twenty-three years ago)

bah, this never used to be a problem for us 'fence-jumpers' but after witnessing the magical Superfence last year i dont fancy my chances much

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 19:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Last years was kind of empty compared to usual because of the lack of fence-jumpers. I would have thought they could have released more tickets as a result.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 19:42 (twenty-three years ago)

someone just told me that there are over four hundred listings on eBay for glastonbury tickets already. and some people are bidding a million pounds.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 22:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, this is actually true.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 22:35 (twenty-three years ago)

cheeky bastard.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 22:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Now I wish I had bought Glastonbury tickets, just so I could make a fortune on ebay.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

aw, bless the poor e-bay seller:

On 01-Apr-03 at 20:13:27 BST, seller added the following information:
DUE TO PRANKSTERS BIDS CAN ONLY BE ACCEPTED FROM EBAYERS WITH A BID HISTORY - ANY BIDS FROM FROM 0 RATED BUYERS WILL BE REMOVED SORRY

twat...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 06:51 (twenty-three years ago)

wait a month until these cockfarmers' credit card bills come in. i'll bet prices will go down a bit then.

rener (rener), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 07:47 (twenty-three years ago)

There must be loads of cockfarmers doing this so yeah prices will go down alot, people aren't going to pay that much.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 09:19 (twenty-three years ago)

that much=one million pounds?

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 09:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I bought mine for 3.6 million and Keith Gillespie plus 10000 for each goal he scores and an extra 10000 for each time I use the ticket.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 09:49 (twenty-three years ago)

eBay?

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 09:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronan, I hate to be the one to break this to you but I've heard from a fairly reliable source that The Glade this year will not be there in its usual beats and bleeps form. I am gutted about this.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 4 April 2003 09:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I read the first line of that post Matt and was thinking it was going to end with "but I've stolen your ticket" or something. That's a shame, it was the coolest.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 April 2003 10:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Mrs Mooro says she read somewhere that the organisers are e-mailing e-bay sellers to remind them that as Glasto tickets are non-transferable they won't be receiving their allocation now. Haha. If this is indeed true, does that mean that more tix could be released for sale again soon?

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 11:38 (twenty-three years ago)

they're trying to reclaim the tickets from the shysters who bought them to sell on ebay - they've been scanning ebay and noting the e-mail addresses of the people selling, over 500 reclaimed already apparently...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I heard this, too. good news. even though I don't want tickets.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Where did you read this? Any chance of a linx0r?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:09 (twenty-three years ago)

the Glasto website says this. but I imagine they would find it hard to do in practice.

DVfans: it looks like I will be at glasto after all. winner.

DV (dirtyvicar), Wednesday, 9 April 2003 13:42 (twenty-three years ago)

three weeks pass...
I know nothing about non-transferable but a friend in New York has 2 tickets she can't use if anyone wants to buy them for face value.

Have fun, whoever's going.

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 1 May 2003 11:40 (twenty-three years ago)

bump bump bump

is anyone else getting excited yet :)

also is anyone still without tixs, things seem to have sorted themselves out now for most of the people i know (apart from the wedding soemone is going to not being cancelled yet ;)) .

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 08:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Need to sort out getting there now. Limo? Chopper?

(Oh yeah and tent and sleeping bag, I forgot about those. Although I do already have GLASTO HYGIENE haha items ready and waiting)!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 08:30 (twenty-three years ago)

those 2 tix are tempting me Felicity, i'll take no action just yet tho as i'm still not sure i can/REALLY wanna go

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 08:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah you can borrow Ol' Brown Faithful if you want.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not getting excited yet btw.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Felicity, I know two people who would wuv those two tickets. mail me offlist if Stevem doesn't want 'em or you need to shift 'em fast or something.

DV (dirtyvicar), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I am permanently excited.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Does Ole Brown Faithful have a few draught problems? I guess I could always bring GAFFER TAPE. I could perhaps also bring a parasol to avoid the no nice little canopy problem which occurs when waking up early with a DREADFUL PERRY INDUCED HANGOVER in the morning dew... ugggggh.

I shall make sure to bring some fizzygood.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I found OBF to be fairly warm though the canopylessness can annoy.

I am excited now you've mentioned the perry. On holiday I was denied the chance to tell my terrifying ghost story "The Haunted Perry" so perhaps I will do better at Glasto.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Hurrah thanks Tico I will take you up on the offer. OBF is very recognisable. I shall also attempt to dress as a 1970s Brownie Guide throughout Glasto to enjoy the full OBF experience. I will attempt to share someone elses canape if need be.

Mmm, canapes.

You will have to help me put it up though. I am no good at stuff like putting up tents, taking down tents, packing away tents ect ect.

Make sure to tell ghost story with uplit torchlight. Cor I wonder where my torch has gone. Torch = U&K Glasto item.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok I just read that Wall of Sound are doing the Saturday night in the dance tent, so jon carter, erol alkan, 2 many djs, jacques lu cont and the chemical brothers are djing.

that's that evening sorted out then.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I will have to get in shape.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I am permanently excited.

This is my new motto.

Cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I will have to steel myself for the Perry onslaught by er... drinking lots of babycham.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 09:59 (twenty-three years ago)

ronan where did you read that !!!???

just shows you how erol has gone thru th roof
in the past year, in 2002 he was in the rizla tent.
the rizla was so waaaay better than the real
dance tent last year,
butt looks like there might be competition this time
to say nothing of a clash with radiohead !

piscesboy, Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Glasto 2002 Rizla Tent = Sex Pistols Manchester gig

(except replace "became famous" with "posts on ILX")

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 10:36 (twenty-three years ago)

It was on the aptly named E-Festivals.co.uk pisces.

I wasn't at the Rizla much, I was at the Glade a bit and the dance tent a little bit, lineup this year is already ten times better than last year as far as I'm concerned.

X-Press 2 and Plump Djs are also confirmed.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 11:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah, your torch was in the wine rack in Mentality Towers last time I saw it. I know someone who would definitely like any spare Glasto tickets, if anyone has them.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh bugger. Farewell Glasto Torch I will have to buy another cos I do not remember packing it up. Where did I get it from last time?

I am sure one of the Stow's many pound shops will sell me a dodgy torch.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 13:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh! I thought you meant Stow-on-the-Wold! This computer is severely rub and the screen is completely out of focus, so I am going to bugger off now before I get a headache. It won't let me change the settings at all. It won't even let me open a new window even. RUB RUB RUB..

alix (alix), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 13:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I bought a spare torch (one of those pit miner head-mounted orbital-cyclops type) last year when i couldn't find my little maglight. it then turned up packed inside my tent. you can have that if you like

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 13:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh superb! Thanks Alang. I shall bring a pit helment.

I shall certainly be DISTINCTIVE this year.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:01 (twenty-three years ago)

How is the Stow working out for you? Sorry I couldn't make it on Saturday, my stomach had other plans.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:30 (twenty-three years ago)

It's proving dreadful to get anywhere - huge delays yesterday just getting to H&I, and huge delays this morning as well. I don't know what caused them yesterday, but I know this morning was someone under a train @ Finsbury Park... but I reckon it's just a run of bad luck so far.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:34 (twenty-three years ago)

probably, my journey in was fine this morning, but then I get to central at about half seven. It's ok in the main.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 14:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I am liking the Stow. Be nice if we had hot water, heating and I had a bed, but whatever. Just no one expect me to smell nice/ be happy next time you see me. Don't worry about saturday, Chris, I made my crippled friend lug bags instead. He loved it. Like physiotherapy but only costing as much as a travelcard...

alix (alix), Wednesday, 7 May 2003 16:26 (twenty-three years ago)

r.e.m. 'currently rehearsing 70 songs' according to
the NME !!!!

mmmmmm i have the banjo intro to 'i believe' in my head.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 13 May 2003 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

r.e.m. 'currently rehearsing 70 songs' according to
the NME !!!!

I had no idea they hated the English that much.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

They're all ten-minute long extended remix versions too.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 13:41 (twenty-three years ago)

They're actually the only band on the bill on Friday.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 13:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm currently rehearsing 70 jibes to make about REM and why I won't be going to watch them.

That was number 1.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 13:43 (twenty-three years ago)

must try harder

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Ooh - and we have hot water now!

We will probably not be taking it to Glastonbury though.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 13 May 2003 13:46 (twenty-three years ago)

http://www.festivals.co.uk/news/030523a.shtml

e-festivals' rumour front page.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 25 May 2003 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Hurrah - I can escape Radiohead by going to see John Cale!

The Other Stage looks completely avoidable.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 25 May 2003 12:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Has anyone actually received their ticket yet?

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 25 May 2003 12:35 (twenty-three years ago)

no, but you can trace it on the website and the royal mail website with your reference number, did they not send you an email about it?

from aloud 21/5:

If you would like to track your order please visit
http://www.wayahead-secure.co.uk/aloudnew/ordertracking.asp
with your original booking reference number where you will be able to
receive a real-time update.
Once the order has been despatched from our offices, the tracker will
provide you with a special
delivery number which you can use on the Royal Mail Website
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/default/all/home?paf_gear_id=1800001&paf_gm=content&paf_dm=full
to trace the tickets to your door.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 07:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks Steve. I got mine from a different agency. I'll have a look to see if they have something similar.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 08:02 (twenty-three years ago)

hey mew are playing now too !

piscesboy, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 17:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 May 2003 09:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Manics officially not popular enough to headline major festival anymore shockah!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 May 2003 09:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Didn't I hear that Yo La Tengo were going to be in the New Bands stage?? CLASSIC.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 29 May 2003 09:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Leningrad Cowboys look like the best band ever.

(Obviously I am holding out for this years Shibusashirazu Orchestra here)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 29 May 2003 09:50 (twenty-three years ago)

bah, you need the loony band on the FRIDAY dinner time to get your juices flowing for the weekend innit :)

flaming lips on the main stage though, that's going to be a bit odd...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 29 May 2003 10:26 (twenty-three years ago)

it's going to be the flaming lips big crossover moment and
they're going to be all over the music press as having wiped the f-ing floor with the yorke-ettes.
now i like radiohead a lot don't get me wrong, but the reports i've
heard from the lips shows have been along the lines of evangelism.
people have literally been bursting into tears.

piscesboy, Thursday, 29 May 2003 10:37 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe, but haven't FL gone kinda rub with their latest album?

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 29 May 2003 10:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Attention ! Starry, i recommend on the Sunday the trip-rock soundscapes of The Gathering [well it's the closest Glastonbury gets to goth]

[Additional Glasto comment: I know people go for the whole get away from the city experience - living in a field for the weekend in rural England, but there is a whole wodge of crap every year at Glastonbury - more so this year looking at the risible line up]

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 29 May 2003 10:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Alternately DJM I could stand inside a portaloo and rock it backwards and forwards until it falls over...

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 29 May 2003 10:51 (twenty-three years ago)

EVERY year is a risible line up. FACT. somehow when you get there you can salvage a decent time out of it despite everything (and the Manic Street Sweepers)

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 29 May 2003 11:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Christ, 3 bands I actually want to see and that's pushing it. All the more time spent drinking on a Dad Stool, then.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 29 May 2003 11:41 (twenty-three years ago)

but these are the rub stages, all the good stuffs on the new bands and dance and [interestingly re-named] oneworld stages (eg streets, sugababes, 2 many djs etc etc).

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 29 May 2003 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I know I know. I just wanted to big up the Dad Stool.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 29 May 2003 11:46 (twenty-three years ago)

go dad stool! go dad stool! etc etc i never did scan in that pic of us on the dad stools did i?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 29 May 2003 12:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Poor Bryan Ferry.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 29 May 2003 12:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 30 May 2003 07:46 (twenty-three years ago)

The Glade area and the neighbouring Dome will then play host to the Warp after hours extravaganza - electronic brainfloss until 4am from Plaid, Aphex Twin, Chris Clark and Tomp.

4am! *drool* *slaver*

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 30 May 2003 07:47 (twenty-three years ago)

sorry, but what was all that "oh the glade's going to be two blokes with a transistor radio this year"??

but, more importantly, are bodger and badger headlining the kids field?????

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 30 May 2003 08:15 (twenty-three years ago)

loads o stuff. Streets, Soulwax, Sugababes, plaid, goldfrapp, doves, lemonjelly, nightmares on wax, fatboy slim, junior senior, moloko, lamb, polyphonic spree, INSPIRAL CARPETS.

that's a weekend for me without all the other stuff glasto's about.

Alan (Alan), Friday, 30 May 2003 08:18 (twenty-three years ago)

wow, 9.45 world stage on Friday - possibly biggest regret for me not being there, that would be brilliant.

chris (chris), Friday, 30 May 2003 08:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Plaid live = roxor.

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 30 May 2003 08:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I want to know who 'Barry Krishna' is.

3.30-5.30pm: Yes

HAHA! Two hour Proggathon!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 30 May 2003 08:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Flipping heck THE SKATALITES. I am so there.

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 30 May 2003 08:20 (twenty-three years ago)

bah curse you Yes, can we survive two hours without going within a country mile of the perry stall???

[hmm, so if the manics finish at 10, that still leaves a good hour to get over to the streets] NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG NOW...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 30 May 2003 08:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Fucking hell I'm excited. And there's still four weeks to go. Why can't we go NOW?!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 30 May 2003 08:56 (twenty-three years ago)

aw, bless.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 30 May 2003 09:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd quite like to see Tricky at the New Tent on Sunday, but the option of setting fire to it on Friday and ridding the world of Lemon Jelly/ Death in Vegas & fans may be too much to pass up.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 30 May 2003 10:23 (twenty-three years ago)

bah, Arthur Brown isn't playing after all.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 30 May 2003 10:40 (twenty-three years ago)

are Death In Vegas ever going to escape the New Bands tent?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:28 (twenty-three years ago)

most of what i want to see clashes so i probably wont bother going...shame, as it would be otherwise well worth it what with so many ILXers going

stevem (blueski), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:37 (twenty-three years ago)

are you scared of making decisions steve? "oh no, siobhan dounghy or yes, i just can't DECIDE!!!!" [head explodes] :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 30 May 2003 12:46 (twenty-three years ago)

no the clashes just really really piss me off...why would you have Radiohead and Super Furries on at the same time? there's no logic to it at all...surprised Mogwai are on so early but it would be great to watch them and De La Soul in succession on the same stage

stevem (blueski), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Death In Vegas played the Other Stage a few years ago, I'm pretty sure.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)

And who's this young whippersnapper headlining the New Bands tent? John Cage? Never heard of 'im.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Cale, even ;)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:11 (twenty-three years ago)

radiohead and superfurries are on at the same tiime so there isn't a mass attack of narcolepsy across the site as people with nothing better to do potter over to look at wonkyhead and fall crashing to the floor. The superfurries prevent this.

chris (chris), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not going & I'm gutted, as I've just found out the Streets are gonna be there! :-( have fun u lot!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Christ look at that dance lineup! That wipes the floor with last years!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 30 May 2003 17:39 (twenty-three years ago)

http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/2003/mook/content.html

now it's possible that this map is just rubbish, but it seems to imply a bit of a move for t'other stage...

also it's missing at least three stages...
(woohoo, only three weeks!!)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 21:21 (twenty-three years ago)

is yr first Freaky Trigger Club Nite going to be a Galsto-themed nite?

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 21:26 (twenty-three years ago)

is yr first Freaky Trigger Club Nite going to be a Glasto-themed nite?

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 21:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, that Other stage is over in the Glade!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Am I right in thinking that apart from The Rapture the Other Stage can fuck off?

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Friday: Primal Scream, Electric Six, and I know some people who will go for iddlywiddly

Saturday: Super Furry Animals, and Love

and on Sunday, Doves.

But it's not exciting new music, for that yow want the New Bands tent, with Death In Vegas, John Cale, Tricky (this joke has to made at least once per Glastonbury).

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 5 June 2003 07:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh - I missed Love. Thanks.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 5 June 2003 07:46 (twenty-three years ago)

that joke "needs" to be made at least once every twenty posts by the looks of things...

we can all go and yawn at pete yorn, arf arf arf

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 5 June 2003 07:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Three weeks to get the giant neon sign ready.

I got my ticket this morning!!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 5 June 2003 08:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Have I said Bah! yet?

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 5 June 2003 09:38 (twenty-three years ago)

you can put a line right through the oneworld stage listings.

major clash headache : mew and de la soul on the first day
(gutted about this)

getting from the dance tent to the main stage is
a doddle, but new bands to main stage is an all-dayer.

piscesboy, Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:05 (twenty-three years ago)

well *this* should prove a talking point
check it out !! :

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/somerset/2964710.stm

how's this for sending out bad vibes just before the fest ?

got a ticket this yer ?
paid like a trooper every year (even in 98 after the horror
of the year before) ?

well u may NOT be going next year !

well cheers !

piscesboy, Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:31 (twenty-three years ago)

That is so dumb. Most people will have 1 mate buying tix for a group. So next year another mate from the group will buy tix. They just haven't thought it through have they?

Emma, Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:34 (twenty-three years ago)

That sounds like a bad idea to me, wouldn't that encourage people to try to sneak in instead of buying a ticket?

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes exactly which is what the whole fence is for. I'd be very surprised if it actually happened.

What will happen next year what with the fiasco this year and than ideas like the above is that EVERY mate in the group will try and buy tickets for the whole group and then most will sell on/cancel the spares. It's going to be mentalism in its purest form.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Quite frankly I'll believe it when I see it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:50 (twenty-three years ago)

People will just hide in bushes for 12 months. It's ridiculous.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:53 (twenty-three years ago)

(sigh) i hate to be a gloom-monger here but just
read that there's no rizla cafe this year.

gutted gutted gutted.

where shall we go now for after-hours good stuff ?
don't say the glade.

piscesboy, Thursday, 5 June 2003 12:56 (twenty-three years ago)

pisces, the new tent is possibly closer to the main stage than the dance tent...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:47 (twenty-three years ago)

My lovely shiny tix are here. I am full of the glee

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 09:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Mine too. It is all good.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 09:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I have just heard that Glastonbury has been cancelled. Ha ha.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 10:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pete stop tormenting yourself (and us) by reading this thread. I will bring you back a souvenir and you can watch on telly. You aren't missing out at all (much).

Emma, Wednesday, 11 June 2003 10:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Pete - you are ownly missing what will be the best weekend anyone in the world has this year. So no problem.

DV (dirtyvicar), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not going as I've heard that the Government will run out their new Logan's run style euthanasia for the over thirties policy at Glasto this year.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I will escape over the fence on stilts with Jenny Agutter.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:16 (twenty-three years ago)

dammit i want to go again now - if anyone ends up with spare ticket then mail me

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:30 (twenty-three years ago)

WHERE'S MY TICKET????

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:40 (twenty-three years ago)

oh it looks like it's been sent, hopefully it'll be on the coffee table when i get home as meg is on a late today.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

one great thing about Glastonbury is the fence looks very like the Apartheid Wall. i bet the same shifty companies build both.

DV (dirtyvicar), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Ich Bin Ein Bumpkiner

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 15:42 (twenty-three years ago)

yay i've got my ticket!! spent some time studying the map last nite, thinking "ooh look, they've moved that set of toilets" etc...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 12 June 2003 07:21 (twenty-three years ago)

chris that's hillarious. mmmmm jenny agutter in logan's run.

piscesboy, Thursday, 12 June 2003 09:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm just worried that no-one there will remember 1942 and the Blackout Glastonbury.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 12 June 2003 11:43 (twenty-three years ago)

My ticket is with my brother in London, I can't wait for this. God I can't wait. Pisces good after hours maybe at the Radio1 stage unless they go progbreakbeat again, layo and bushwacka last year was the worst DJ set I've ever seen and I was really wasted.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 12 June 2003 15:54 (twenty-three years ago)

DOn't forget the ultimate Glasto warm-up at Parker Place on Weds 25th!!!

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 12 June 2003 16:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Alas I am not going via London!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 12 June 2003 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Breaking news:

Zwan cancel Glasto & other live dates [due to family matters]
http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/7257.html

for those going to The Glastonbury Festival: New Order fansite: WorldinMotion note:

Hybrid Live with special guest Peter Hook (New Order) at Glastonbury on 28th June.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 12 June 2003 20:43 (twenty-three years ago)

aw, i was quite looking forward to zwan, the singles are rocking...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 13 June 2003 07:32 (twenty-three years ago)

It just gets better and better doesnt it.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 13 June 2003 08:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I really like a lot of the Zwan album but I am positive that Herr Corgan would find some way to make it into a horrible pompous whiny prog-fest on stage, so I'm kind of relieved they've pulled out. Hopefully this means more Mogwai time as well :)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 13 June 2003 08:57 (twenty-three years ago)

OK in that case I retract my above post.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 13 June 2003 09:11 (twenty-three years ago)

let's talk about hats

Alan (Alan), Friday, 13 June 2003 09:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I was going to start a 'Festival Headwear - Search and Destroy' thread, but ph34r the consequences.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 13 June 2003 09:17 (twenty-three years ago)

are there pics of you in a twat hat matt?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 13 June 2003 11:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay, some innocents have been spared from the clutches of Corgan.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 13 June 2003 11:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Twat hats = work of Satan, obviously, along with girls getting up on blokes' shoulders right in front of you.

Although someone has given me a wicker cowboy hat that I am considering taking to Glasto. Just to keep the sun off, natch (and yes I am aware this is wishful thinking).

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 13 June 2003 12:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Sombreros should be the hat of choice.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 13 June 2003 12:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I only have a small tent, making sombreros a problem :(

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 13 June 2003 13:08 (twenty-three years ago)

a folding panama hat is your only choice then

chris (chris), Friday, 13 June 2003 13:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Surely it is illegal to wear Panama hats unless you are wearing a crisply ironed all-white outfit?

This could be awkward for Glasto, obviously. And I am not old and venerable and Peter O'Toolish for it. Sadly.

Also socio-identification with 19th Century racist colonial governers and - ARGH stop where are you taking me?!!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 13 June 2003 13:41 (twenty-three years ago)

B-b-but the man from Del Monte. He say YES!

Pete (Pete), Friday, 13 June 2003 13:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay, some innocents have been spared from the clutches of Corgan.

It is a sad and wrong thing that Nicole should so blithely deliver this heresy unto the masses.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 June 2003 13:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Corgan will now fly over Glastonbury in his evil weather machine and unleash the deluge

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 14 June 2003 13:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I can see him flying around in such an object, yes.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 June 2003 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

....and wearing a clown outfit and crying.

Nicole (Nicole), Saturday, 14 June 2003 14:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I sense bitterness towards one of heaven's own avatars, but the heathen will never understand. *retreats in priestly vestments*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 June 2003 14:35 (twenty-three years ago)

BILLY CORGAN ROXX!!!!!!

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 14 June 2003 15:02 (twenty-three years ago)

raaaaaaar corgan cancels !!
(dances round room).

please lord david gray next.

piscesboy, Sunday, 15 June 2003 00:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Oi Tico gizza tent eh?

Sarah (starry), Sunday, 15 June 2003 04:13 (twenty-three years ago)

cumming in next week's NME: Glasto special: 2 free durex performa!, a milk choco energy bar: Go-co and a festival guide!

this reminds of that stoopid cardboard box with Select magazine in the 90s.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 19 June 2003 20:18 (twenty-three years ago)

No Glasto for me, this year. Sigh.

Once I looked at the lineup , I said, "Damn!"

(Starry, I sent you an email yesterday. Did you get it?)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 19 June 2003 20:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I am far too excited.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 19 June 2003 20:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I will be there in TWO DAYS TIME!!!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 23 June 2003 09:35 (twenty-three years ago)

time to start worrying about the glasto weather.

Alan (Alan), Monday, 23 June 2003 09:37 (twenty-three years ago)

*gets out his rain-making kit gleefully*

stevem (blueski), Monday, 23 June 2003 10:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I have - with my sacrifice - made sure that this years Glastonbury will have the best weather evah.

If I had blown out the wedding and gone it would have pissed down instead.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 23 June 2003 10:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Thursday looks warm but overcast.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 23 June 2003 11:14 (twenty-three years ago)

have you noticed how the beeb has now made it's glasto coverage as central as wimbledon and ascot to "BBC Summer", i think this is grebt.

i must say i was getting minor heebie-jeebies vis a vis muddiness when it was pi$$ing down last night...

..but i'm sure we'll be fine :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 23 June 2003 13:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Remeber, if civilization collapses I'm in charge.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 23 June 2003 13:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Me too re rain last night. In my work stress induced insomniac state it was the last thing I needed.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 23 June 2003 13:26 (twenty-three years ago)

age of empires, not civilization.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 23 June 2003 13:30 (twenty-three years ago)

that bbc article better be right

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 23 June 2003 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

is there an fap? I am so buying cheap booze outside this year like a true scumbag.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 23 June 2003 21:11 (twenty-three years ago)

NB Ronan both the shop and pub in pilton will be shut, so you may want to purchase cheap bouze (no glass bottles though!) well away from site :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 07:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Box of Sainsbury's red wine, you can't go wrong.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 07:23 (twenty-three years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 07:24 (twenty-three years ago)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1138

Some rain now forecast for Friday. Saturday - sunny intervals.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:32 (twenty-three years ago)

still quite warm though.

i'm going to have to go and buy some wellies now aren't i?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm hoping that means 'occasional showers'.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Mrs Mooro bought 3 pairs of wellies yesterday, one for herself & one each for her two Glasto-virgin mates.

Will Glasto have mud slides if it pisses down?

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Will anyone's tent end up 50 feet from where it was set? No.

Will there be big areas of mud where the young and emotional will flap about and enmudden anyone in a mile radius? Absolutely.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:45 (twenty-three years ago)

was there any consensus on where was cool
2 go late-night dancin in light of the rizla no-show ?

don't say the glade.

who knows who's on radio 1 outdoor stage this year ?
there's never any listings in the programme.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:49 (twenty-three years ago)

hey Mooro, are you coming to Glasto, or just Mrs Mooro?

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 11:16 (twenty-three years ago)

why do i keep reading these threads? i'm such a sadist. you could at least start talking about the toilets and favourite band-clashes to remind me why its okay that i'm not gonna be there, grr.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 11:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Not me, DV! I like my comfort too much to go & sit in a muddy field for 3 or 4 days AND to have anything of value nicked.

And then you have to listen to all that dodgy music as well.

Give me a nice holiday camp by the seaside with proper showers, a cooker & a pub anyday.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 11:23 (twenty-three years ago)

i second that emotion.

angela (angela), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

There's nothing emotional about it! You second that logic, you mean.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 11:58 (twenty-three years ago)

true, but i was trying to keep with the "dodgy music" theme.

angela (angela), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 12:06 (twenty-three years ago)

You second that WUSSINESS, you mean.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 12:23 (twenty-three years ago)

certainly that's another way of putting it.

angela (angela), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 12:35 (twenty-three years ago)

If you have to keep your wristband on for an extra month, though, definitely not worth it (to socialise with other soap-dodgers).

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 14:07 (twenty-three years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I expect the Wolves flag to be flying extra high and extra proud this year, all day in front of the Pyramid Stage like it does year in year out.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 15:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I am so excited! I will be there circa midday tomorrow. oh god it's going to be cool.
