Megan P, Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Watching the Bjork Royal Opera House dvd which is now MINE!! ALL MINE!!! MWAH ha ha!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Blimey it's only Tuesday! All sorts of good could be coming.

Settling on a honeymoon destination was nice. Doing an interview with some really friendly ppl at the BBC World Service. Winning the League Cup in LMA Manager.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

It actually being not freezing cold for band practice last night, meaning our drummer was not in a shitty mood, meaning we played well and had fun.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:20 (twenty-three years ago)

well - I got an extra 15p off the price of my newspaper because the woman in the newsagents misread the coupon

that's about it so far

j0e (j0e), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:20 (twenty-three years ago)

If the week started Sunday, then the best thing so far is that when I bought a NNCK CD at their show Sunday, the guy selling 'em gave me back too much change (which I didn't realize until I got home). Kinda sucks for the band, though. The second best thing is that I'm not dead.

hstencil, Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:22 (twenty-three years ago)

A friend has just given me a copy of the new Echoboy album. That's nice, but I'll give you a proper answer on Sunday.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Rah.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Finishing 95 percent of my Intro to Law take-home midterm, and realizing I probably will pass it.

mike a (mike a), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh and fuck me I'm forgetting stuff: I got a buncha CDs and some cash in the mail for free yesterday! And my old car insurance company refunded me like $90!

Life's been good to me so far...

hstencil, Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

i bought a ticket to go to NYC again:)

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:35 (twenty-three years ago)

The best thing is turning out to be the most confusing thing, but that's always the way it is, isn't it? I requited my crush. Now I bet *he's* going to get all weird on me...

kate, Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:39 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, I won the European Cup on FIFA 2002! Yay me!

and I had a good idea yesterday for what I will do for the ilxor 20 things thing.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:39 (twenty-three years ago)

and today at around 4:45 I learned to stop worrying and like Andrew WK! His new song, "We Want Fun" is the greatest wall of noise/Ramones/Kiss type song I've heard in ages, and the "kicking your legs in the air" dance is awesome.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

? How in the world could you NOT have liked Andrew WK, Jel? He seems tailor-made for ya! Not me, though. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

i saw a beenie man video

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

i played with cornelius! (ok i actually just touched their distortion pedal for a second)

minna (minna), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm glad you put in that extra info Minna! What would dan have said?

(yeah, Ned, I never liked Party Hard, I must have been going through a serious phase when that one was out)

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Joe Millionaire finally ended.

TMFTML (TMFTML), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:52 (twenty-three years ago)

haha jel i think he still has ample ammunition

minna (minna), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I made too much money walking up and down a street for a few hours on Sunday. God, I hope this isn't the best thing that happens to me all week.

No, it wasn't Santa Monica Blvd. It was for a TV commercial.

Arthur (Arthur), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 17:55 (twenty-three years ago)

best thing for me so far: managing to make a really nice photoshop montage-style graphic for my portfolio, and if it actually helps in getting me a new job then bonus

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 18:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I found out I might have whooping cough!

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 18:09 (twenty-three years ago)

If that's the best thing, don't share the worst.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 18:09 (twenty-three years ago)

No, no. It explains the horrible but not life-destroying cough I've had since, um, since before the tour (coughing much lately, Ned?). It's not fatal, it's just annoying, and it sounds like I have some decadant 19th Century disease! "Whoop, whoop!"

I go to the doctor this afternoon to confirm, but a coworker has been diagnosed and I have all the classic symptoms and so, frankly, I'm excited. I am not crazy! I have an actual sickness! Yay!

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 18:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Well that's good. :-) A bit of coughing here and there, yes, but nothing much.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 18:24 (twenty-three years ago)

School closed due to ice!! YAY!!!!

That Girl (thatgirl), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 19:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 19:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll let you know when it happens.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 19:04 (twenty-three years ago)

If we mean the last seven days, I had a great evening with some of my best friends on Saturday. If you mean this still-young new week, nothing yet (though I've been performing pretty well at work again, I think) - but then I have a date tomorrow, so things might pick up.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 21:17 (twenty-three years ago)

nothing at all.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 21:29 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm feeeling too overwhlemed with absolutely nothing to answer this question.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 22:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know. Nothing bad has happened yet, that's all I'm happy about.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 22:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw Stevo from Jackass in real life; I played five-a-side football; I had a couple of moments of realisation that I really shouldn't worry so much, and life is actually quite good :)

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 22:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Divya Noguchi (divya), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 23:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I did some pull ups!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 23:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Its a bit early in the week innit? I have a potential new flatmate coming to see the place today. Hopefully this will work out well, because I'm almost at the point of eating cat food I'm that broke.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 23:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I did some pull ups!

This decade's Susan Powter or whatever her name was?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 01:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I might be flying to Australia early next week! (Sydney + Tasmania, if I go)

Yay, last minute travel.

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 06:04 (twenty-three years ago)

How can you come all the way here and eschew Melbourne! *sniff*

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 06:18 (twenty-three years ago)

speaking of melbourne, i just caught the train from there to sydney after a fantastic afternoon. i've been hanging out with this fashion designer guy for a bit and he gave me one of his shirts that normally cost like 150 bucks at genki/fat as a melbourne parting gift. which was a nice consolation for missing the cornelius gig.

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 06:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I got a £50 reward cheque for 'retaining' a customer's dodgy credit card.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 07:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw Sonic Youth - in Japan.

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 08:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I posted this on an ILM thread yesterday, but what the hell - when I'm happy I want people to know about it :-)

* * * *

I met for the first time a great and special human being about whose music I'd enthused on CoM (though we'd been emailing/'phoning each other for a while), and...well, we got on more than somewhat; it was a cathartic evening, we poured out our problems to each other openly and unreservedly. Happens that she's moving to London this weekend, and she wants us to be mates, wants to hang out with me, get drunk with me, go to gigs with me (and possibly DO gigs with me, but that's another story!), etc.
In other words, exactly what I've wanted for the last 18 months - a really good friend who's close at hand. And all because I wrote about her on my weblog.

And to think, if I'd done anything stupid last summer, I would have missed all of this...

* * * *

In other words, the best week of my life for nearly two years.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 26 February 2003 08:10 (twenty-three years ago)

go marcello!!

my life this week is currently absolute ruin, thanks to thesis, but will be much improved on friday. i live for weekends.

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 08:17 (twenty-three years ago)

that's awesome Marcello.

That Girl (thatgirl), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 08:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I started Uni! and I'm falling in love with my course I have a great legal teacher who makes all these german jokes & like most people wants to stop the war in Iraq. And picks fights over it. (yay)

He also said something like this. 'If you want to learn things, and be respected, it's going to take a lot of work, so stop complaining.'

so cool.

I also have another great tutor who we did some maths with yesterday, she can rock and roll you out. She was also dismissive of the complainies.

After being in the tafe system for a year, within which teacher's tend to say things like; 'Um, you may want to think about doing this assignment, it's no disaster if you don't do it. . I mean, just think about it, ok? you want counselling?'
it's refreshing like a refresher towel.

mmm, almost a really shit simile.

I have another teacher who's a new age FREAK, he made us do oriental head massages and ear massages before we started class and next class he's bringing ENYA and other CALMING music for class. His principal interests include jazz ballet and physics. I kind of knew I wasn't going to make any friends in this course when not one person even SMIRKED when he said that, had it not been for my rather impressive self control I would have been rolling around on the floor in hysterics.

There is also a cute boy. His name is Wes, he just got back from Vietnam and is a mature aged hottie with a political science degree to his name. We had a discussion about 'The quiet american' I made a tool of myself as I used far too many big words.

I think he may have fallen in with the 'dude, shyeah DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD' brigade. He used to work at metro as a bartender *blergh* and his hobbies include snowboarding. he always turns and listens when I say something. I ignore him, and then stare at him. This is going the way of all my other romances. i.e. unfulfilled.

WWWWWHhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

n.b. sorry for long post

nellie (minna), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 10:21 (twenty-three years ago)

and I didn't even talk about my new collection of knives! expensive knives rule. they're dreamy, like wes.

nellie (minna), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 10:23 (twenty-three years ago)

great to hear marcello!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 10:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm so happy about something that happened this week that I can't even talk about it. Let's just say I'm feeling Marcello-ish - and no I'm not his mystery musician woman.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 10:27 (twenty-three years ago)

come on Marcello, is it ABBA?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 10:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I booked tickets for the Jackass movie. And found a lovely place in Spain to go visit.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 10:37 (twenty-three years ago)

come on Marcello, is it ABBA?

Don't be daft, it must be Tatu. Anyway great news.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

1.Mrs.Dr. C is going to New York ON CONCORDE!!!! Probably.

2. I got my annual bonus - record buying frenzy in the area!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 11:33 (twenty-three years ago)

My new computer arrived at least a week before I was expecting it!

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 11:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Is it the Audio Bullys Marcello? (i live in hope)

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 11:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I got bought dinner! Yay Fiorentina pizza num num. And I met some nice new mentalists too, and had a nice pint of two of beer. And I might FINALLY have someone to swap Pokémon with in London!

YES!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 11:46 (twenty-three years ago)

The best thing that happened me was my parents told me they're going away again this weekend, so I now have somewhere to go with my friends and drink/smoke following Felix Da Housecat this weekend, whom I have never seen and can't wait to, one of my heroes to be honest.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 11:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I went to see the Be Good Tanyas on Monday! And when I got home Matt had made GNOCCHI!

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 12:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I went and bought the Andrew WK album.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Marcello - is it Sarah Michelle Gellar?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I got the tattoo I've been wanting for close to ten years. Went great. Then I went to a used book store and found a B. Kliban book I've been looking for for a while.

Douglas (Douglas), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

now be sensible matt, what would buffy be doing in a pub on ealing broadway of a late winter tuesday evening? anyway i think mr prinze beat me to her.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 26 February 2003 15:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Hurrah for Marcello! And for Spencer too, that suave man. He is suave you know.

I might be flying to Australia early next week! (Sydney + Tasmania, if I go)

What? And not inviting the rest of us? *weeps*

You do have to go to Melbourne, they are all most cool down there. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 15:40 (twenty-three years ago)

yay for Ealing! and Marcello!

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 15:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I got to stay home yesterday because of ice on the roads.

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I sorted out all the dodgy financial things that have depressed me! (I have been hiding from sorting out many things of this ilk, on Monday I gritted my teeth and now I feel so much better and have saved myself money. Okay, so it's just juggling debt, but it will go away. Hurrah!)

And I got two comissions and some holiday cover work. Money coming in1 Hurrah!

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:34 (twenty-three years ago)

yay anna!

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay Marcello!

And YAY Anna - mail me, you haven't surfaced since Carlos and Esther took you away with them!

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I got this weird letter from a college today saying "We liked your application so when we mail out final decisions in April don't worry, you'll get in." What's THAT? Is that binding? I have a feeling it's not...should I get my hopes up more?

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 20:32 (twenty-three years ago)

(my otherwise best thing this week was going shopping for a lacy shawl and pointy shoes for prom, going to a concert at school, and making up with a friend. 'twas a good weekend.)

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 20:33 (twenty-three years ago)

can i ask what the college was maria? seems like a weird letter, but def. sounds like more on the side of good news than bad

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 21:18 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm not saying what college it is because it's not definite, so i don't want to go around telling all my friends. and one of my friends reads this forum so that could be embarrassing if i get rejected. it's a pretty selective school though, i was pretty sure i'd get rejected before i got the letter (which is why i posted in the best thing board, though i'm not sure what to make of it).

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 21:21 (twenty-three years ago)

since it's a selective school, maybe this is one of the things they do to keep your interest, never heard about this kind of action in my day though, maybe you could talk to your counselor, the vagueness of the letter is sort of turning me against them, but if it's a place you want to go seems like a positve development, and sounds like you will be in good standing for the rest of your applications, good luck and keep us posted, also it was statsistically proven on the gilmore girls last nite that having sex = not getting into harvard, not having sex = getting into yale & harvard

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 21:28 (twenty-three years ago)

i didn't apply to yale or harvard! if only i had known how good my chances were! hehe.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 21:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm tempted to nominate Anna's and especially Marcello's good news upthread, but it might be my first date this evening with a woman I really like, and she liked me too (she said so, and that she was keen to see me again, before we got up to go - this is not the norm for cyberdating, in my experience, so it seems very promising).

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 23:26 (twenty-three years ago)

maria, if you don't get in to that school, I will find and beat the admissions people repeatedly with a large stick.

liz! (liz!), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 23:42 (twenty-three years ago)

hehe! thanks liz. you have The Power. (hush about the letter though, i don't want to start rumors.)

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 23:42 (twenty-three years ago)

good luck with that college maria, i hope it works out!

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 23:47 (twenty-three years ago)

The doctor says that as of today my bloodwork is looking better and better and I might not have to have another spinal tap and bone marrow draw for a couple of months. Yippee!

And my live-in SO finished the first draft of his thesis and submitted it today, so now I have someone to rub my feet again, now that he's not so preoccupied and walking around saying stuff like "but if the diameter is increased and the speed stopped down, then the reflective coating cosign would be independent of the interferometry Fourier results."

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Thursday, 27 February 2003 00:39 (twenty-three years ago)

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 27 February 2003 07:42 (twenty-three years ago)

actually the best thing that happened to me this week is really that my band did some recording and so far its been killer... (i say so far cos vocal overdubs are a fucking bitch). mostly i'm looking forward to doing backwards guitar solos!!!!!!!!!

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 27 February 2003 07:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Gf got a job in Ipswich, hence imminent move back to Colchester from Guildford, bought a pair of Mordaunt-Short 906's which I'm running in at the moment and appear to be rather good.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Thursday, 27 February 2003 11:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Setting foot inside a recording studio for the first time in 15 or 16 years. Where have all the cylinders gone?

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 27 February 2003 12:04 (twenty-three years ago)

finally fixed a time to see my phd supervisor and discuss my work (or lack thereof), having realised that not seeing him because i wasn't working was a bad idea, cos seeing him might actually make me do some work. anyway, we looked at where i was stuck and it turned out that i wasn't being stupid *but* on the other hand i can get round the difficultly.

so now i feel way more positive about my phd and maths in general, and i can probably finish writing up my first paper in the next week. result!

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 27 February 2003 12:15 (twenty-three years ago)

and i had chips with curry sauce yesterday.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 27 February 2003 22:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I joined a band.

PH34R the consequences.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 February 2003 11:38 (twenty-three years ago)

My week picked up on Wednesday, I won a copy of Original Pirate Material and got this (awful) 2002 summary thing printed in an Irish magazine which will remain nameless. I read the summary again and it's ridiculous, I thank my friend in it towards the end. I had OPM already but it was a cd-r and I lost it. Also the other choices were Flaming Lips, QOTSA and something else I was scared of.

Also on Wednesday I recieved Andy K's disco mix cd in the post and I listened to it in the shower, then I got out of the shower and realised I knew and really liked Dirty Talk by Klein and MBO so I played that a few times and danced for a while which left me tired enough to actually sleep properly for the first time in ages.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 28 February 2003 13:04 (twenty-three years ago)

My PC which has been playing up is fixed so I can burn Cd's again, huzzah. I've been downloading loads of goodies from Slsk before it goes belly up.

Got the plans for the extension to our house this morning. Looks pretty good. Downside is my record buying's going to be curtailed in the next few months.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Friday, 28 February 2003 13:30 (twenty-three years ago)

rex jr., Saturday, 1 March 2003 16:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm up for it Billy- I won't get another chance 'cos they'll be out of service in a year or so.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Saturday, 1 March 2003 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi all. I'm new here, just thought I'd take the opportunity to congratulate everyone on their good news/good times, esp. Marcello - makes all the effort worthwhile, doesn't it? Hope the date went well Martin!

Nathan Webb (Nathan Webb), Saturday, 1 March 2003 22:26 (twenty-three years ago)

mine just went sour! Felix cancelled. major : ((((((((((, i was so looking forward to it. : ( once more for good measure. I'm still going out but it won't be the same, I'd never seen him.

It did go well, thanks Nathan - and welcome. I like her. Only problem is she's a bit busy at the moment (I'm 99% sure it's real!) so I'm not sure when I will get to see her next.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 1 March 2003 22:35 (twenty-three years ago)

I got an ISSN for my scrappy wee art booklet thingy!

the first four digits are two less than the last four in my new phone number at my lovely new house and the next four are the name of a Chris Knox song I like! Oh how I like getting in with nice ordering systems.

My car is now back out of the shop and it wasn't as expensive as theoriginal estimate - by more than $100.00. And a distant relative sent me a large check - apparently to make-up for having forgotten Christmas and birthdays for years. So Ihave to decide whether to use the money to pay off some medical bills or buy some new books. Probably a bit of both.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 05:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I got some yummy grapes on the way to work this morning. It's been a slow week so far...

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 08:24 (twenty-three years ago)

The prefered foods for my pet tortoise are, in order: fresh dandelions, "turtle grass" (some weird scallion-lookin weed the Cambodian market sometimes has), tortoise chow. If I can't score any of those, I usually get her cabbage to tide her over. A few days ago, while peeling off some cabbage leaves to throw in her pen, it suddenly dawned on me that I *love* cabbage, and I never get to eat it! So I cooked up some of the cabbage I had for the reptile, and ate it up. I'm so smart. (Sadly, this is not the first time this has happened with me & pet food.)

Dave Fischer, Tuesday, 4 March 2003 08:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I got my ticket for the Celtic v Liverpool game, and my ticket for the CIS Cup Final. And my Belle and Sebastian tickets. And I won a Scalextric set, though I may have mentioned that somewhere else already.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 20:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw The Beatrice Arthur Special last night. I think I may be scarred for life, but whatever. Also, I splurged and got the new issue of East Village Inky.

The best thing was supposed to happen today, but maybe it will happen tomorrow.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 21:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Jesus, that's great news, Marcello.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 21:34 (twenty-three years ago)

hmm, vv quiet week so far for me, but i did manage to find 30 grand ish (possibly more) we should be claiming at work that we weren't because of our cocking useless student records system, which made the principal happy when she came in to see us.

in terms of last seven days, friday nite in the pub was tops, as was going to see jackass on saturday.

reading this thread has made me happy :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 22:55 (twenty-three years ago)

i got a postcard in the mail from a friend of mine. :-)

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 5 March 2003 00:30 (twenty-three years ago)

another best thing that happened to me this week is that my old best friend from oamaru e-mailed me and said she's gonna come down to dunedin and see my band play on the 21st. i couldn't be happier!

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 6 March 2003 01:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I passed my Pedogagy and Professional Responsibilty exam with a 265 out of 300 score.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 6 March 2003 08:05 (twenty-three years ago)

i was just approached by random anonymous gay boys, who told me in no uncertain terms that i have "great style". i could do nought but beam back at them.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 18 March 2003 00:48 (twenty-three years ago)

and whats more, our dumm gig at the crown got cancelled, only to be replaced by a better gig at the cellars bar with iso12 and the futurians, among others. YAY!

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 18 March 2003 04:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I managed to freak out Dang on the "Roll Up The Rim..." thread, and I applied for a new job that pays 65% more than the one I have now, and I'm qualified for it! It feels good to be qualified.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 18 March 2003 05:51 (twenty-three years ago)

This week... in fact, people on here being nice to me about my being bummed out. Most people are quite nasty about it. Thanks. Really.

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Tuesday, 18 March 2003 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I got to come home again.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 18 March 2003 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I might move soon. The weather is finally spring-like. I'm feeling less anxiety about my job. Hopefully I'll get to hang out with a very cool person tonight, but if not that's cool too.

hstencil, Tuesday, 18 March 2003 15:32 (twenty-three years ago)

SXSW was a lot of fun.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 18 March 2003 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

eleven months pass...
this *week*? hmmm, let's see. the best thing that happned to me this week was a small medical breakthrough. the second best thing was that someone appreciated me. for the first time in like ten years. it was nice to be appreciated.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 28 February 2004 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

ten months pass...
What really sucks is that I got a letter from the government about that job that I applied for that I was so excited about - 6 MONTHS AFTER I APPLIED FOR IT so I didn't go for the test and interviews. FUCK. I could be snowmobiling in the arctic RIGHT NOW.

Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 8 January 2005 06:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Couldn't you contact them re: the extremely large delay in receiving the notification letter, Bryan? Maybe they could inform you of furture test and interview dates and times or something that you might be able to get into... ?

Best thing for me last week: A co-worker of mine is retiring at the end of January and I found out the replacement who'll be coming in next week to train for her job will be a female ABOUT THE SAME AGE I AM!!! This is super-exciting for me because I work in an office filled with women in their 40s - 60s and I NEVER really get to chatting with any of them because I can't relate to them or their lives. I might be able to gain a work friend now!!

Samantha Baker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 8 January 2005 07:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i went to target.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 8 January 2005 07:02 (twenty-one years ago)

All I had to do was show up for the test but the test day was 3 days after I started my last job in the middle of the work day. If I'd known how that job was gonna turn out I would've gone for sure but at the time it didn't seem like such a good idea. Very sad.

Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 8 January 2005 07:05 (twenty-one years ago)

A review of mine actually appeared in Entertainment Weekly.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 8 January 2005 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)
