MILDURA!! that's where that funny Italian cooking man from the telly is from.

chris (chris), Friday, 13 June 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Famous for that, Chris, but also for being the arse end of nowhere.

Quite a nice place, especially before the Murray silted up, but the natives....ohmigawd! I worked a couple of fruit-harvesting seasons there and the townies hated us, practically battened the town down until we all buggered off back where we came from. It was Dim Redneck City, especially the local Progress Assoc movers-and-shakers. If Pauline Hanson had been a Victorian she'd have come from Mildura. Or Shepparton.

Fred Nerk, Friday, 13 June 2003 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

N: Orcas Island, Wash.
S: Tampa, Fla.
E: Boston, Mass. (or possibly just inside Maine)
W: Los Angeles, Calif. (though it's hard to tell from the tiny map I'm looking at if that's more West than, say, the Oregon coast)

South: Great Ocean Road, VIC, Australia (replaces Arequipa, Peru)
East: Sydney, NSW, Australia (replaces Rome, Italy)
West: Vancouver, BC, Canada
