ILXOR life swap

If you could swap lives with someone on ILX, who would it be? Currently for me I am torn betweens Tep's creativity & Gareth as he travels to the most amazing places & has such enthusiasm for them!
So, there are no rules as such to this one. Gender can be put aside along with familes & s/o's. It could be for a day, a week or longer. You decide!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

You don't have to saddle the other person with your life either!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Definitely Gareth, just because I am envious of all the trips he gets to make.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I am keen to go to Australia and magically swapping my life with an IlXoR seems to be a cheap way to do that. I would pick Toraneko as she seems to have an exotic and glamorous lifestyle. Toraneko's side of the deal is a bit less exciting - I hope she's a Dr Who fan.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth has fantastic travel experiences, but he works such long hours, I could never do that, despite the obvious advantages it brings.

I know this will sound boring, but I'm lucky enough to be very happy with my life at the minute. Having said that, it would be nice to swop it with an ILXOR abroad for a while though, to see what it's like, and also with a male, for the experience....

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Go with Gareth, my creativity (thank you!) is wasted on "Hegel and Marx on dialectical movement in history" today. And besides, I mostly write about vampires and guns :)

I don't think I would trade lives, but if I were forced to, I would probably go with one of the NYC Ilxors so I could see the city from their point of view.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone with breasts. Or, seeing as Tep just mentioned writing about vampires and guns, Tep.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

B-b-but vampires rule!!!

Btw, this is no refelction on my life as I am very happy with my life at the moment! It's just a, you know, what if situ!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to have to go with Vicky's ILXor male abroad answer. I dunno which one, but he has to have a cat and listen to good music.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

that would be me. you get to keep guitaring too

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

(But vampire books don't sell! Sorry, I'm still dwelling on that in the back of my head.)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Wha? What about Ann Rice?

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'd switch lives with Phil.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Anne Rice and Laurell K Hamilton are probably half the problem; the market is flooded (and Rice is ending her vampire chronicles, maybe not coincidentally).

But yeah, I thought the market was fine, too, as long as the book was good, but my rejection amounted to "we would publish this if it wasn't about vampires. We can't sell vampires. Please send us your next book. If it's not about vampires."

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

That's terrible! I guess the goths have ruined it for everyone.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I really want to write a book about vampires, too. With guns. And bizarre metaphysical theories of time and spirit.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess I should swap lives with Phil as well, then he can finally get his mitts on my fiance...

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll do a swap with an ILXOR who has a good record collection (you know who you are) though i like Tom's ans of doing a swap with an ILXOR from australia though i'll include NZ too, as i'd like to visit both countries someday.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:13 (twenty-two years ago)

If everything I've heard is true, the SPENCER CHOW without a shadow of a doubt.

Although being Momus for a week could be fun. I second Toraneko, as well.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I really want to write a book about vampires, too. With guns. And bizarre metaphysical theories of time and spirit.

See, Nick is already me.

(This has been disheartening mostly because I was already writing the sequel, which is all about the weirdness of being very very very old and having perfect recall of 900 years, and how that affects your place in Catholicism ... etc. But with guns. Tep's novels = religious imagery + guns.)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, Chaki.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

If I switched with Spencer Chow, I'd immediately become a famous Hollywood actor.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

hulkington, just for the sake of it...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Mine was gonna be about how it affected the vamp's relationships with real people; ie; even people it loves are like mayflies.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, I like that. In mine -- in the first one, it starts with the protagonist running from vamps who want to kill him cause he used to be a vamp and now he isn't (he doesn't remember why; this is the clock of the first book, trying to find out why he's mortal now). I don't get a chance to explore how it affects his relationships until the second book, where he's divorced because he was relentlessly training his daughter from age 8 to kill vampires.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

With guns.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

(And armor-piercing stakes, actually.)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea. Are any of you rich and hot?

Mandee, Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm quite hot at the moment Mandee.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know, maybe Dan Perry, he seems a carefree happy man. Except when talking about JT obviously.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

My opening scene was gonna be the vampyre running away from men with dogs and guns, actually, until all but one of the men with dogs & guns loses him, and the vampyre eats the last man.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to switch places with Archel, then, but I'd put on some short shorts to keep cool.

Mandee, Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I would switch places with Mike Hanle y, and spend every day sitting in my pants playing guitar and writing a song about monkeys.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Fret not, Tep, good will out and publishing will happen and etc. :-)

As for me? Good heavens, for a start, whoever would want to swap with me, and could you handle carrying the hair in the proper fashion? I do envy Gareth his trips but I seem to do a fair amount of those too, so hm.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I've thought about this and there isn't anyone I'd swap with either, at all, this worries me a bit.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Ned :)

My opening scene was gonna be the vampyre running away from men with dogs and guns, actually, until all but one of the men with dogs & guns loses him, and the vampyre eats the last man.

Not the dogs?

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

No. Why would a vampyre eat a dog? Unless he had some mustard with him. I was thinking it could be a kids book.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I like my life very much, wouldn't trade it for anyone, not here not elsewhere.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Dudes, just switch the vampires to zombies, and voila! Instant commercial success!

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

or young wizards, or maybe young career women who go out to lunch a lot

chris (chris), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, second question, if you could be any other poster FOR ONE WEEK ONLY, who would it be?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Erm, isn't that just the same question but with a week limit?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

No. Why would a vampyre eat a dog? Unless he had some mustard with him. I was thinking it could be a kids book.

Dogs have blood, too!

This is a question I didn't think to raise, actually -- whether vampires must feed on human blood; if so, why; if not, what the .. er, nutritional differences are ... cross-species.

Hrm.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

PP - no, because then people who are perfectly happy with their lives can go and have a metaphysical holiday.

I also wouldn't mind being Dr C, just because it might be fun to be married with kids for a week and play in a band and, like, be good at football and stuff.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I don't like this twee ass "I love my life! I'd never switch!" bullshit on this thread. You're not permanently switching people! Stop trying to impress everyone with your post, I mean I don't want to really switch lives, I'm quite pleased with it but if I was GOING to switch lives, I'd be all about being Phil for like 3 days.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I just don't think I'd switch because I'd get behind on work! That's not twee, it's obsessive workaholism.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd be Ally and make many men's lives miserable.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Hrmph.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

wife slop

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh see, i think, although I kinda meant that anyway as my choices were for to be for a change as I am happy with my life!
But i like the 'metaphysical holiday' aspect of it!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to be Phil for the same 3 days that Ally is. I just want to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Chris P (Chris P), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd be ally, then everyone would think i was 30 instead of saying, "no, you're never that old" to me...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd be Sarah so I could have sex with me.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I think if Chris, Phil and I all occupied the same body for a day armaggedon would occur.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I don't like this twee ass "I love my life! I'd never switch!" bullshit on this thread. You're not permanently switching people!
Yes Ally, I agree, thank you!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I would also quite happily be Ronan for a night but only if I could revert to my normal self at about 5.30 and skip the monstrous ruin.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd be Sarah so I could have sex with me.
I thought about this too. Not being sarah to have sex with you obv! phew! i meant being james for a day or so, to see how much whingeing i actually do! Oh & see how good my technique really is!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt - i would've thought that was the main reason for being ronan!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Matt, if you want we could do it in shifts thereby forever spazzing out to endless tunes?

It doesn't sound that tempting when put that way.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to be Manimal but he doesn't post here.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Tep, ever think about making your vampire story into a comic? In any event, is the first novel published? I'm genuinely innerested in reading it.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd swap with ned or momus. i'd swap with trife, but that would only make me slightly less annoying.

and spencer chow isn't a famous hollywood actor, he just takes pictures with famous hollywood actors.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

No, what I'm saying is that IF I became Spencer Chow for a week, I'd make him become a famous actor. I don't know why he hasn't done this already.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

He would be like a cooler Spader (if a cooler Spader is possible).

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

This is what I'm saying. It doesn't make any sense.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

He's waiting for the right moment.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Stop trying to impress everyone with your post, I mean I don't want to really switch lives,

No, Ally, I don't want to be you, this thread surprisingly isn't about you and fuck you for calling me twee.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, where's Graham when I need him...

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't Candyman this thread!

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

G****** B**???

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

K*t M*rco WHERE ARE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and FYI, Noodles, there are at least three people on this thread who I was talking to, ie gave the "I don't wanna switch" answer. Which is thread ruining, and in no way playing the game. So yeah, Graham to thread to tell you to eat a bag of dicks.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Tep, ever think about making your vampire story into a comic? In any event, is the first novel published? I'm genuinely innerested in reading it.

The first one's the one that was just rejected (and promptly sent to the next fish), unfortunately. I can email you a copy of the manuscript, though, if you don't mind a largish (~900K, I think) attachment -- is your ILE address your proper address?

I hadn't thought about a comic. Writing a comic script is a very different discipline ... the publisher of my short story collection is moving into comic publishing as well, so I would try out a short script with them first, I think.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd switch with Calz and run out in front of traffic

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

the tep comic ... zombie blow-job man!

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

then I'd switch with Tracer and send all his records to my home address

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

as soon as that was done I'd switch with Barrus and send all his Mac gadgets to my home address

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd switch with G31r H0ngr0, sell off all his britpop and prog records, and replace them all with the entire collected works of James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, Fela Kuti, and Parliament-Funkadelic. I'd also get him melanin treatments and a big afro wig, and let him back into his body midway through a Wu-Tang Clan gig.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Zombie Blowjob Man NEEDS a theme song, a la Secret Agent Man.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

then I'd switch with Momus and strand him with my parents for a month in the Tennessee hills with no internet just for laffs

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

wu-tang? shit nick, yer being too kind to the geirbot. drop him off at a jay-z concert!

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, tom, momus might like being in TN w/ no internet. it'd remind him of scotland.

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i would swap with chaki

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

tom since i'd be living in YOUR house i'd get all my records back bwahahahaha. I'd be psyched for a body-swap, I want security clearance, dammit.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I would swap with Cozen so I could call myself Diamond Dave.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

So yeah, Graham to thread to tell you to eat a bag of dicks.

How about a nice Marcello rant from the past for Ally:
And you Ally can just FUCK OFF AND DIE. DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE TELL ME WHAT I CAN AND CAN'T READ.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd like to body swap with Marcello and as Marcello post on a thread where George Gosset is currently posting. kill two birds with one stone!

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Noodles, you recognize that you aren't making any sense and are acting at least as self-absorbed as you're accusing Ally of being, right?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

wait - is Noodles being serious?

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

It's hilarious how many of you would use the swap privelege for evil!

I would like to swap with DJ Grizz so I can experience true fame.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

wait - is Noodles being serious?

I don't know! I like pretending he is, though, as it lets me act all superior and annoying.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I would like someone to swap with me so they can do my dissertation on Evil for me.

David. (Cozen), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

burn 'em a copy of the last sigur ros CD ... say that that is evil, and why would a just God allow such a thing to exist?

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha I hope Noodles is being serious, it makes me love him so much more. SELF-CENTERED GIT. PISS OFF.

I want to swap bodies with Gale, whatever happened to her?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

She just posted to ILM the other day!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Like I read ILM, wtf.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

You should read more! It's a magical and mystical adventure!

http://www.acclaim.com/games/southpark/luvshack/images/minigames/chickenlover.jpg

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, I'm officially completely confused.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Tep, this email is well and kosher. Send those guntoting vamps my way.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh my God, Ned! That's beautiful.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

*bows* I knew you would enjoy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Noodles, I'm glad you're you too. Now go eat a dick. ;)

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

which one of you is the biggest gang-bangin' thug ass playa for life? i'd swap with you.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem: Who Screwed Pizza Christ?

Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I say Ramosi: crack deals gone wrong, brutal beatdown of the guy who made a move on your girl, aww yeah...

Aaron A., Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

ronan!! or mark s

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaron A., Wednesday, 13 August 2003 01:51 (twenty-two years ago)

You'd like to see that Kim, wouldn't you?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'm sick like that. Also, bring slugs.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Kim in slug fuckery SHOCKAH!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Take my life and all its insane lovers NOW, please.

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I would switch with Luna, come to TX, do the nipple thing and make out with myself.

(or I'd just switch w/Ms. Laura cause I think she's got the set-up.)

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 05:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i wanna be chaki -- because i wouldn't have to ditch my zappa records and he's a real mack-daddy!

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Ramosi fer sure

nnnh oh oh nnnh nnnh oh (James Blount), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 05:31 (twenty-two years ago)

People wanting to be people to sex other people/themselves... man this is starting to sound like a bad Being John Malkovich flashback.

And vampire stories DON'T sell because they are all horribly lame and have been done 1000001 times, hello - M:TG/V:TM/every other roleplaying bore ever, plus LiveJournal nerds.

ie dont blame goths - blame nerdy roleplayer geeks and Buffy fans. Its all their fault. Goths get blamed for everything, man.

PS I am not a goth.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 06:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Tracye, I would want to be Luna primarily b/c I want to make out with Luna and short of becoming her and forcing myself to come to TX I can't think of how else that would happen.

I make out with myself every day. . .damn.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 06:14 (twenty-two years ago)

you could make a luna doll and make out with that ...

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 06:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The sex toy thread was last week Tad.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 06:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Ain't nothin' like the real thing baby...

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 06:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Momus. Just to see how he'd react to being incarnated as a stoned philistine burnout with no style sense whatever. It would be like 'Flow My Tears the Policeman Said'

dave q, Wednesday, 13 August 2003 06:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd switch with ned.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 08:30 (twenty-two years ago)

And vampire stories DON'T sell because they are all horribly lame and have been done 1000001 times, hello

Not all of them! Mine isn't. And it hasn't been done before.

But like I put in cover letter #2, it's less a vampire story than it is a story with vampires in it.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

C'mon! Doesn't anyone want to be me? DJ lifestyle, great shoes, BMI of 16 despite nightly pint of Ben & Jerry's? I fucking rock! Actually, I don't, which is why I'd be Di so I could have actual musical talent.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

BMI of 16 despite nightly pint of Ben & Jerry's
I would love to be you teeny for this fact alone!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Yah, I would like to be Teeny for a bit. Not for the BMI though.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't yours, like, 10?

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

mm

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually 16.3

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Nobody wants to be me?!? Rockstar life, cats, access to NA's cd collection...? I guess it's cuz you're all scared of the paparazzi.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

(and my inability to spell)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Plus you get to do the wild thang with me. That's right, the wild thang.

NA (Nick A.), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Bang goes any chance of wanting to be Sarah. Way to go, NA.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick, stop saying 'the wild thing.'

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick life swapped with Tone Loc, he can't help it.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Funky Cold Nickina

i'd switch with ned.

Aw. But hey! That means I could dress in some of the coolest clothes around and rock out on stage without apology! That rules!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally seems like she's having non-stop fun all the damn time, so I'd switch with her.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I would too, but I hate barbeque sauce.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

What if you could substitute the sauce of your choice?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not like the bbq sauce is an everyday occurance, people.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Well then never mind! Who'd want to swap with you?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

why would i want to swap with any of you, i live the high life.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Usually it's hoummus!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Now that was a crosspost.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i got bitches in the livin room gettin it on
and they ain't leavin til six in the mornin.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Funny, cause I was thinking I wanted to switch with you, Sam, and do the very same thing!

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I would switch with Dan for, among other things, the professional singing part. Or maybe jel, for the equanimity.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Right, I wasn't sure until today: now it's definitely Luna or Sam.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd swap with Ned, I'm used to working in a library, and Ned's library seems more exciting than mine.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Tough choice, but I'd switch with Luna (for her taste in classic cars);

Spencer (for his swerve-ablity)

or

Ned (for that massive CD collection)

.....if I didn't enjoy who I am.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, the classic cars. That was why I wanted to swap with Luna. Cars.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd swap with Martin while he was swapping with me or Sam.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, we should go see Freaky Friday together!

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

it was good

s1utsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I would swap with Jel as he seems to have it pretty together, but that would mean he'd have to be me (I think?) and that wouldn't be very nice.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I would switch with Maryann but she's gone so maybe i would choose minna; I've always wanted to be a mysterious waif, and I guess living in Australia and having an accent would be a kind of nice bonus.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 13 August 2003 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to be Phil for the same 3 days that Ally is. I just want to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I volunteer my body as a vehicle for an ILX Herman's Head sort of sitcom. or maybe it would be more interesting as ally.

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 14 August 2003 03:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Mary, I hate to be so corny but I read this thread and thought of you too. Is that too schmaltzy or what. And I really like Minna too. But ACTUALLY it is very strange you would say 'life swap' with me. I think you don't know much about where I live. Of course I would have great advantages by swapping with you. I dreamt that I flew to Denmark in a 'fugue' once and it was cool because I hate travelling but I just woke up there. So it would be kind of like my dream. I would also like to be Tracer Hand or BNW because they seem like nice friends. With each other I mean. But are they actually friends in real life?

m.s (m .s), Thursday, 14 August 2003 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I changed my mind about the latter two, because I think I just saw a photo of them drinking, and I don't want to get a hangover.

m.s (m .s), Thursday, 14 August 2003 06:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't honestly blame anyone for not wanting to swap with me

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 14 August 2003 07:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i want to switch with you so i can say i'm STRONGO HULKINGTON, welcome. and to have people chastise me for not living up to my potential instead of being an underachieving overachiever.

youn, Thursday, 14 August 2003 07:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I would swap with Ben Williams and/or Andy Battaglia because THEY'VE HEARD THE NEW BASEMENT JAXX ALBUM AND I HAVEN'T waaaah

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i would like to swap with someone who enjoys cooking, because i'd love to be able to do it properly, if only to enjoy the food at the end. as it is my problem is not so much being unable to follow recipes, more...that the entire process, from the shopping to the chopping and everything else, just gets me totally stressed out, and i basically hate it.

otherwise i'm v happy with my life compared with everyone else on ilx, unless someone out there is some sort of lady of leisure with pots of money and no need to work for a living.

i mean, moving's a good work out, right?

tehresa, Friday, 25 July 2008 15:38 (seventeen years ago)

tehresa, Friday, 25 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

That picture is very Escher-like. I couldn't tell at first whether it was shot from the top of the staircase or the bottom.

jaymc, Friday, 25 July 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)

That's the coming out of - the new place has an elevator.

I'm thinking it wouldn't be too bad to quit someone else's job.

Jaq, Friday, 25 July 2008 16:03 (seventeen years ago)

it is just difficult. like... he is out of town today so i can't do it. there is always something getting in the way of my unemployment.

moving furniture down stairs is really awkward!

tehresa, Friday, 25 July 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)

I resigned my last job over the phone. I was stuck in LA area though with no idea when I would see my boss next though.

I can imagine starting this as a service business.

Jaq, Friday, 25 July 2008 16:09 (seventeen years ago)

chicago kevin, Friday, 25 July 2008 18:08 (seventeen years ago)

there is not a single person who has ever posted here that I have ever wanted to be though at times I wish I was as chill as some of the sub-board folks and the antipodeans. I occasionally envy Keith or Stet who actually know how to get computers to do things besides break and crash but we all play to our own strengths.

El Tomboto, Friday, 25 July 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

lol kevin I am having my first meal of the day but I had to go see Hellboy 2 at 11:05 and there wasn't time beforehand. After my burrito though it's all videogames, crosswords and drinking from here to bedtime.

i woke up late, got to work late, did not have time for food or coffee and could not find my glasses. this is not my best day so far.

i'm fantasizing about french toast and coffee and bacon and sausage and eggs and most of all fresh squeezed orange juice.

chicago kevin, Friday, 25 July 2008 18:13 (seventeen years ago)

The very question doesn't make any sense to my small brane. If I were them, I wouldn't be me wanting to be them, right? Or, if it were my consciousness in their body with their circumstances, my consciousness would be permanently changed and I'd probably fuck up their life in one way or another out of pure inadvertance. I've never wanted to be someone else. I have admired, studied, imitated, and envied other people, but I can't say I'd want to be them, per se.
