it said it would go pay for messages in the sfweekly article a few weeks ago, but for messages only, not for just membership. They were running banner ads for about one day a week ago but those seem to have disappeared.

I have been looking around on this myspace site and I thought I would let you in on a little idea I had. So I’m throwing a prom, but it’s not a regular prom, it’s a secret prom. Allyzay, I *think* Tom is the administrator of the site. I was introduced to myspace a couple of months ago by a friend here in Oxford and I have to say I absolutely adore it! Part of this is the interface I think. This is always going to be a matter of personal preference. But I just like the design and find it has just the right number of features and is easy to navigate around. Although I also have an account with OK Cupid, I prefer Myspace as I am somewhat suspicious of the OK Cupid tests and the way they purport to show how much of a match you are with other ppl - anyhting based on questionnaires is always bound to be somewhat suspect, as I doubt anyone is 100% honest on them and some answers will depend on yr mood and suchlike. I would like to think that nobody takes the % match thing on OK Cupid too seriously, but it would be naive of me to assume this is true for all its users.

I think my liking for Myspace can be gauged in the context of the fact that I was flamed in it - enough to put a lot of ppl off I suspect - yets till think it's a Good Thing.

I joined myspace last year or two when Friendster was very buggy and rumored to be turning into a paying service. They have more features but Friendster is slowly catching up. Myspace tends to be much sluttier and I get hit on by more creepy married men then I do on friendster.
