Honestly, you could set your watch by him.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

but i think it is a little harsh to call me a fuckhead, especially as i am doing this suede mp3 for you

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Lunchtime!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

"Mumma"?

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

See, Ally makes me laugh sometimes. I often think she might be alright.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

no thats ok, dont worry about it

still, could we lose a little of the being abusive and angry though?

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

First you cuss at people, then you're sorry you misspelled "momma"??!!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Unlike Kate or Blount. Though Kate is nowhere near as evil as Blount and I kinda understand why she gets pissed with my remarks, I just don't think she should...

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Is some fuckhead troll too UNBELIEVEABLY REPEATEDLY FUCKING STOOPID to figure this out?

(x-post - apols G :))

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

well, i think calum obviously likes people enough to stick around, when most of his posts get deleted, and i think we like him enough to reply

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not a troll, I'm a semi-troll. I only troll when I'm so bored that it's fun.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

exactly!

you enjoy it here, thats good, i just dont understand why you seem to get angry sometimes when your posts get deleted! it doesnt really matter, its all part of the fun

i mean, you wouldnt stick around if we didnt delete them, so everyone wins!

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

ps, i cant email the mp3 it will be too big, but as i said on the other thread, if it doesnt fit on my webspace i can burn to a cd for you

and this thread hasnt been deleted, because you have been friendly and considerate here (well, apart from the callign me a fuckhead thing, but thats not really anything to worry about)

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth, why don't you take this slightly creepy pity-friendship off ILE? Or start a "This is the thread where I say 'Calz, you're my kinda dude'"?

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh that'd be pretty cool. I'm pretty sure I can return the favour if there's anything you're interested in?!?

I think the "New" version is much better than the old personally. The old one tried to be serious and failed. It's impossible you see. It's just not in my nature.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think Calum is so awful either. It is kind of funny how angry he gets though, I mean you realize that no matter what your threads are going to be deleted so why do you mind? And if you mind, why do you keep posting? I find tenancity appealing though.

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

well im in edinburgh in february, i guess there will be a FAP and you'll meet some of the other ilxors if you like, i'm sure it will be just like on here!

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

785 new answers or deletion by morning.

Look, back in The Old Days, Calz, I tried to reason with you. I tried to explain why I was offended by what you posted. You just responded with these lame-ass high school "insults" and derrogatory comments about my appearance, my sex life, and other stupid, childish bullshit.

You were asked to quit it, you carried on doing it, in fact, you escalated. So other people (including myself) stooped to your level.

You carry on posting and begging for attention in a forum which has made it more than plain that it has no time for you. You deliberately ignore other people's feelings or requests, or even common or garden sensitivity - in fact, you seem to delight in making other people uncomfortable or hurting them, for your own "amusement". If that's not a dictionary definition of pathological behaviour, I don't know what is.

Your behaviour is offensive at best, and pathological at worst.

Yes, you have really, genuinely upset me over the past few days. If that's your idea of amusement and fun, well, congratulations. You're a bigger asshole than I thought.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

bric-a brac-a Byker Grove I I I I dooon't beleeeeve et!

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

This is getting weirder and weirder...

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i didnt alter it

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

adam as ever your timing is impeccable

ummm....yes. x-post, obviously.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Jess, for once, FUCK OFF.

Calum, thanks for the apology, but I'm sorry, but your apology is too little, too late.

It's not the offensiveness of your posts. It's how you have treated people (including me) again and again. I don't have the time for people who deliberately offend, piss off, and hurt other people for their own amusement and fun.

I really don't have anything else to say about it.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

yea, well, you treat people a certain way and they have a habit of reactign a certain way, regardless of the medium. i dont really think anythign of it, but all the time you have posted here, i mean, what have you actually got out of it. i dont really understand the point. just seems a bit of a waste of time.

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

why you gettin your shorts in a knot, brohemes?

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

[Crying wolf, very badly.]

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

now wtf, did i eat some iffy rye bread or something?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Why did someone delete Calum's apologies? Isn't that kinda childish, as if they never happened.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

i mean, yeah, while away a few hours at work, but you could have got a lot more if you had treated people differently, i dont really get the persistance with coming on here every single day to have a go at people, get deleted, have a go at people, get deleted ad nauseum. is that really what you want from anything? is that all?

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

some of c-man's posts seem to have been deleted here

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i must have put some magic mushrooms in my curry for lunch by accident

ken c, Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

yea, it wasnt me, it looks like i am responding to kate now, and not to calum!

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

It's kinda stupid to delete the posts where he actually says he's sorry, no? Who's responsible for that?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

that'll teach ya to get involved charlton ;)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

don't sweat it, slick.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

It's kinda stupid to care what happens to C's posts IMO.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

but what if the apologies are just part of the game and not sincere. how can we ever know for sure? how? HOW? where does it end? END? who let the dogs out? OUT?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, ok, who the fuck is deleting everything the guy says? This is incredibly stupid and lame.

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

well, it doesnt really matter in the end does it? i think its a little late for people to take them seriously unfortunately, whether they are real or not

if you want to look at deletions, click show all details at the bottom of the thread, my entry there is a change on my own post

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Jess, for once could you answer this question seriously: why do you make an insulting, smartarse comment after Kate makes every effort to be serious and rational even though it's barely deserved?

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

everyone needs to take a chill pill, poindexter.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally, AFAIK (and I'm not a mod any more so this may have changed) policy is that anything C says about anything can be deleted at any time by any mod.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

(answer: because she's not trying to be either "serious" or "rational", she's continuing the game with calum, even subconsciously. otherwise she wouldn't say a word at this point. see tico's xpost.)

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, point understood. But consciously I suspect she's genuinely upset about the whole thing, so why piss her off further?

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Well policy is AFAIK anything ever could be deleted/changed by anyone who feels like it, I mean it's not a democracy, I'm merely commenting that this is the stupidest shit. Who cares? Kate GET OVER IT. Calum WHY DO YOU BOTHER. Ned IT'S NOT COOL TO JUST GO AROUND DELETING EVERYTHING EVER IN FACT IT'S KIND OF HIGH SCHOOL. Gareth FEEL THE VOIBE etc.

gah fiddo is OTM as usual.

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i disagree with that policy in theory but i won't lose sleep over it i guess

and now back to the wall

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

gareth is fucking with all our minds bigtime, ban him!

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

because a. i suspect it's mostly show histrionics and b. at the end of the day, if it's harder to close the browswer window than it is easier to totally flip out, there's something deeper at work.

steve i kiss you.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I get the impression she's quite seriously hurt, and took what i was saying very seriously.

Ally - you're correct. I "bother" because at times ILX can be amusing, for all its Blounts - I still have a fondness towrds aspects of this little place...

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, as someone who also gets easily but genuinely upset over these things, I can sympathise with Kate. Why make people feel shitty when there's no need is my point, I guess.

(yes yes I'm a hypocrite, I know, I know)

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned IT'S NOT COOL TO JUST GO AROUND DELETING EVERYTHING EVER IN FACT IT'S KIND OF HIGH SCHOOL

Granted, I was not sure whether to delete the whole thread. Calum's posts are not to be believed at any point.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

the way c-man keeps referring to Blount is quite funny - the humour lying in the fact that c-man got really annoyed because blount allegedly signed him up to porn mailing lists, even tho it seems clear from other posts that C-MAN LOVES PORN and i would've thought he would be grateful.

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

What? How are you to know if they've not to be believed? I wish to remind you that I am currently nothing more than words on an online message forum. I could be a 25 stone socially inept slob for all you know, or a fecking 14 year old school kid. How would you know otherwise?

I'm sorry mate, but my posts in response to Kate were to be believed and fuck you if you think otherwise.

P.S. C-Man got very pissed because Blount signed him up to all sorts of shit and not just porn. Of which I only reference on ILX because it's considered taboo. Really.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

frankly the use of moderation privileges on this board is just ridiculous anyway. I mean the Necrophilia thread still exists but Chris Barrus and JBR bitching about Dee saying she has a crush on him gets deleted right away!! And Calum doesn't get to say anything any more but let's keep all the old shit around! Why can't we give Spinktor and Helltime Producto moderation privileges, they're MY friends!

Fuck this. Calum wins this thread by a long shot.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i can understand that mark, but i don't know if i've ever seen anyone post anything to ilz that would seriously make me hurt inside (at least for more than 20 mins), especially an obvious troll like calum. "it's just the internet" is a cliche but a true one, i think. (i'ma hypocrite on some level too, here.)

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe there weren't enough dwarves or summat

this thread is just odd, massive deletions don't help this though

chris (chris), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Why don't we all go make some jokes about our own dicks and how big they are

TOMBOT, Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

you first big boy.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

c-man that's my point - how can we believe anything you say after all the things you've said before? this is your problem now. this is why threads like this exist but all your useless other ones get deleted.

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I could be a 25 stone socially inept slob for all you know, or a fecking 14 year old school kid.

so these were the two you first thought of as well?!

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Being insulted by trolls is just life, and part of the internet, totally. It's when people you think are your friends turn round and shit on you and you can't see why - it's just as (maybe "almost as") upsetting as it would be in real life. Internet friendships are fragile and very muffled, but they're still real on most of the levels that matter.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry mate, but my posts in response to Kate were to be believed and fuck you if you think otherwise.

see i did actually believe they were because i (perhaps foolishly sometimes) believe in the inherent good naturedness of people - but like that guy who ran up to me on the street as i walked home the other night asking for cab fare money because his little daughter had been in a car crash and he had to get to the hospital (he was holding a pacifier for effect...??) you just can't help but wonder (i still gave him some money tho)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

: p

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's look at some threads that got deleted...

Sleeper Vs Echobelly (oooh really offensive that one)
Top 10 Music Events of 2003 (yikes!)
Top 10 Worst Music Events of 2003 (double yikes)

And loads more I can barely remember. It is indeed pathetic, I mean - I'm all for careful moderation. Blount Googled me once and found info about me that's no longer online, but nevertheless the saddo posted it all over ILX. I don't know what he was trying to prove but I thought that was bang out of order as it meant anyone could basically locate me and phone me.

That aside though, I think removing threads about topics you disagree with is just plain silly. In my opinion anyway.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

it is also plain silly and pathetic just to start threads to wind some people here up though which is what you have blatantly done on countless occasions..

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Calum's behavior has only once ever escaped the realm of timekilling amusement for me and frankly Kenan Hebert and Momus piss me off WAY more than he ever has, boy if only I was a moderator

The "policy" it seems is to keep Kate from getting her panties in a knot and to feel sorry for her.

Calum, when Blount fucks with you I think it's the funniest shit ever, you don't find it amusing?

TOMBOT, Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, get a sense of humour, c-man.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I would appreciate it if the other posters on ILX did not tell me how I should or shouldn't feel, or how I should or shouldn't react.

I don't know why Calum is coming over all apologetic now - perhaps he's being serious, perhaps it's more game, perhaps he's got an incentive to be nice now that someone on ILX has something that he wants (Gareth and his Suede files, perhaps). I don't buy "apologies" by themselves unless they are accompanied by a change in behaviour - which is ultimately why I achieved peace with Doomie. Not because he apologised, but because he stopped insulting/stalking/acting like a cunt to me, and turned into a reasonable human being online.

I don't know why I'm continuing the argument - because I'm stressed out at work, and I don't need one more little niggling bit of stress pushing me over the edge. I've said my peace, now I can continue working until whatever time tonight I get finished.

For once I have the feeling that I've fallen into bizarro-land where for the first time, Calum and I are actually having a *real* conversation where we are listening to one another, and the REST of ILX have to pipe in with personal comments just to be a greek chorus of idiocy.

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

he will now say he does find it funny and that he's just playing along with blount

truth = impossible

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

But but but you abuse people for fun Calum, doesn't that make it fair play? I'm looking forward to hearing your argument.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 11 December 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

dogmatix looks so sad

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

but who's the Zander?

chris (chris), Thursday, 11 December 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I doubt my threads on ILX will change per se - my sense of humour is to wind people up. Certainly, I never apologised for the threads, but I will apologies for personal insults if, as it turns out, they actually result in hurting people. Thus, if I've hurt Kate then I think I should say sorry, which is what I have done. I never meant to upset her. Suede files have nothing to do with it.

Likewise, if you don't like my threads don't read them.

No I don't find Blount amusing. He's shown by his emails to me to be especially dumb (labelling me an anti-semite for being oppossed to circumcising children and being against kosher meat) and he has consistently spent his time Googling me to find out as much info as he can (which is sad) and singing me up to all sorts of shit, as well as posting me enormous spam attachments from his personal email.

I don't find that funny at all. I think the guy is a dick.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

on the basis of that i think blount is just a NERD with too much time on his hands, haha

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 11 December 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

one of us then

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 11 December 2003 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't understand why anyone would be nice over Suede files! Suede are terrible these days!

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Attitude was ace, Oxygen was lovely and Lost in TV, Oceans and Untitled... Morning are gorgeous. So there.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

The only recent Suede stuff I like is basically just Everything Will Flow and even that I only like the remix. I just can't listen to Brett's voice, he's gone like beyond shrill.

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

*let the poisons hatch out*

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Probably a seperate thread here, but since 99% of sane people agree Suede lost it when they released Head Music then I can still think of ten classics that come from the post Coming Up days:

*Oxygen
*Attitude
*Since you went Away
*Crackhead
*Simon
*Untitled... Morning
*Oceans
*Lost in TV
*Indian Strings (the sole highlight on Head Music)
*Obsessions (OK, not classc, but alright and I ran out)

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha I'd say separate thread too but they'd just delete it!! Post while you still can you fool!!! Anyway I haven't really given the album much of a chance because I really disliked Coming Up so I might be being unfair, but you don't think Brett's voice has changed quite noticably with each album since the self-titled album?

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I only thought it really visibly changed with A New Morning where he got so much more throaty. Though the arguement goes that they got more and more shit the worse his hair got! Give me the floppy haired androgyny from yesteryear anytime!!!

Coming Up is great. I think that By the Sea is gorgeous, especially, and Saturday Night is perfect. Some of the B-sides from then were great too (This Time, Another No One, Every Monday Morning etc). I really think they were on a high at this point... but Head Music? Uergh!

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:47 (twenty-two years ago)

The b-sides from Coming Up are better than the album tracks! That's the amusing part of it.

Well it's not particularly amusing I guess.

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't even be bothered making fun of calum's 'his voice visibly changed'.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

"the sound of the streets" was a classic suede b-side, i think it was from one of the "coming up" singles. great! i've always maintained that "head music" was underrated...

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

suede were undeterred.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Hush up, you like Billy Joel for heaven's sake.

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Employing the phrase "I've always maintained that" in a discussion of Suede on an internet messageboard takes the same kind of skill as not laughing during S&M.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Never could get into Head Music as a whole, though "Electricity" and "Elephant Man" made me bounce.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I stopped listening to billy joel when his beard audibly appeared.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

"she's the shape of a cigarette" is still a great line.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

No it's not.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

yes it is.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

We need some expert commentary for this intriguing battle of wits.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Good thing you're around, cumbucket!

Allyzay, Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

N. you hurt my feelings!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Spencer, you are a fine man and did not intend to hurt your feelings.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

why would someone intend to hurt their own feelings?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Shut up.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I hurt my feelings.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, I was too subtly referencing something else. Non-issue/poor joke.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 11 December 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

So does this mean you're going to behave from now on, Calum? Like Steve, I honestly believe in the good naturedness of people, which is why I took your apologies for real (and found it really childish that someone deleted them, making you look worse than you already do). We'll see if you can prove me right...

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 12 December 2003 08:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Wintermuté (Wintermute), Friday, 12 December 2003 08:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 12 December 2003 08:20 (twenty-two years ago)

well yes. but also TEH CUTETS

Wintermuté (Wintermute), Friday, 12 December 2003 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like the woman who keeps returning to her abusing husband, because "this time he's really changed".

(Yet if we don't allow for the people to change, as unlikely as it might seem, we might as well start supporting the death penalty.)

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 12 December 2003 08:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to know why two perfectly harmless threads on ILM were removed. It's obvious, moderators, that even your own postees are getting fed up of this shit.

C-Man (C-Man), Friday, 12 December 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Or we're just getting fed up with yours.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Postees is a twee word anyway.

smee (smee), Friday, 12 December 2003 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

those threads were harmless shit and I don't see why they should've been deleted.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 12 December 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

NOT IN MY NAME!

stevem (blueski), Friday, 12 December 2003 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

FWIW, I didn't delete any threads today on ILM (or here), but I'm assuming whoever did had good reason for doing so (ie, Calum started his usual wankfests or the like then pretended he was a victim).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

ok but I looked at them earlier and I didn't read any 'nasty' stuff on them. something might have developed but i don't know if it did.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

This is probably going to sound really weird coming from me, but...

Maybe it's time to moderate how we moderate Calum? I agree with continuing to delete offensive, graphic, and obviously Blount-baiting garbage, but honestly. Carrot and stick reinforcement. Not deleting and responding politely to politely-phrased threads (such as the Suede one that I posted to) would be a good way of positively reinforcing New Calum for polite behaviour. I mean, he can't prove either way if he actually means his apology unless we give him a chance.

But, you know, I'm not a moderator, and I understand why the decision was taken. (I mean, I turned off this thread the moment the Blount-baiting started up again.)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

The Blount-baiting is part of why I personally can't take him seriously at all -- a couple of mods have been flooded by private mails from him obstrepously demanding 'action' be taken against Blount for SPAM MAIL THAT EVERYONE GETS IN REGULAR AMOUNTS BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THE NET WORKS. More to the point, he's said as much that his goal is to wind people up regularly, so while it's true he can't prove either way personally I think the burden is solely his to bear in the first place if people find him to be untrustworthy. I am, however, not every mod.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Righty - firstly, there was no reason to remove either thread. People responded to them and they never degenerated into shit.

Secondly, as I've stressed (and this is my last word on this)... yes, you get lots of spam mail in your hotmail account. But I also have two yahoo accounts and another email account as well, where I have spam protection and NEVER EVER EVER got spam in any of them until a certain Mr Blount Googled me and found my personal details. After a flurry of spam mail (including spam coming from Blount's OWN EMAIL ACCOUNTS SENT TO ME WITH LARGE ATTACHMENTS DESIGNED TO BLOCK MY ACCOUNT) I traced the spam to his own ISP with the help of some mailing lists that traced him on my behalf.

I was also getting the SAME SPAM mail in all of my accounts (including my hotmail account) at this time. At the SAME TIME. Coincidence? I think not.

That is my last word on it, but if you still don't see Blount as the arsehole he is, let me say that he also found out my work address from relentless Googling of my name and searching for my every movement online. He's obsessed.

C-Man (C-Man), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

only with you

stevem (blueski), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

don't squander the goodwill some are starting to feel towards you, calum. stop banging on and on about blount.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

and this is my last word on this

Ha.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

It was my LAST WORD, but I'm still very, very, very pissed off about it.

for the record, I think my threads are usually jovial but I'm not going to post anything that attacks a member of the forum, my apology to Kate was genuine, as i mentioned.

C-Man (C-Man), Friday, 12 December 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

1. blounts sense of humour is also only to wind people up. same as you

2. if you like this place stay. it is a shame that no one likes you, but if you are happy here then that is the main thing. but i really wouldnt let ilx piss you off. after all, you dont have to be here, and then it woudnt piss you off. you wouldnt be pissed off anymore, and nobody would miss you. but, like i say, if you are happy then you might as well spend your time here, is no big deal

3. it isnt a democracy, im sorry about that. but nowhere does it say 'free speech'. nowhere. your threads might get deleted again, they might not. im afraid thats just life. it might be better if you didnt complain quite so much. i dont see why you get quite so angry about it all the time. for someone whose m.o is winding people up, you seem to be letting it wind you up a little bit too much also. if something gets deleted again, just deal with it, thats life

4. good luck, im sure we can all get along, just try not to lose your temper so much, then i think we can all enjoy your threads to their full potential (unless i delete them;))

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 12 December 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

oh , and just out of interest, how did it go with winding up those people at that other site, that pashmina sent you to. was that as rewarding as doing it here, or less so? and how has it gone on other boards, any winding up success there? (i recommend the Trash board, i'm sure that one will get be rewarding also)

and, finally, lets start an Edinburgh FAP thread! (i hope you are the same in real life, that would be funny!)

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

(will I get my ass kicked if I mention that a great deal of C-dawg's ILM thread-titles put me on the verge of wet undies with laughter?)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd love to know what calum is like IRL. i'd fly out to edinburugh just to find out! next, a geir hongro FAP.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Shit guys, you'll be disappointed. I just tend to blether on about politics and eye up the bar totty.

Just your normal fella.

C-Man (C-Man), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been off-line all day, and I don't really know what to think of all this, but w/r/t blount, I think it's fair to re-state that calum, on three seperate occasions that I can remember posted here, a publically accessible, googlable bulletin board, the false and libelous accusation that blount harboured ch|ld p0rn in his computer. He was warned the first time, and a link to the demon libel case was provided as an example of why this is a bad idea (iirc - i can't be bothered to google it coz i'm tired - the person who owns the server is liable for any libel damages, in uk law at least, it was a 'test case' etc) but he did it again twice. Somewhere in the archives there is still one of the posts, with the name deleted. even if 'c' is telling the truth w/r/t blount mailbombing him, wtf, I mean I can sit here and type that I wouldn't mailbomb myself, but then no-one has accused me of such a thing. I don't know what I'd do if someone did. I'd be plenty pissed off, that's for sure, and I think I'd bear a grudge. How odd that this is not mentioned here by 'himself'. I wish i could say it's the worst and stupidest and most horrible thing anyone's posted here, but there was one worse thing that got deleted. Oh well.

when I was bleating on the moderator thread about some stupid troll thread thee other day, someone said something like, 'that's the way the internet is'. Well, that's all very well, and probably true, but what appealed to me about this board, and still appeals a lot is that it is not like 'the rest of the internet' in a lot of ways. I don't know about anyone else's experience, but just about every other list or board I use is pretty much men only. Like 97 male posters, and 2 female posters, or s.th. like that. Obv, I'm a man, and I'm mainly attracted to women and stuff, and I suppose I'm comfortable-ish, or at least able to operate in such situations, but I _much_ prefer mixed company, both online and IRL. That's one of the best things about this place, and because of this, I tend to get especially annoyed by some fucking goon acting like it's a boy's locker room, posting shit that could be lifted straight from the pages of fhm or maxim, or creeping out on female posters, scouring archived posts they've made about sexuality b/c they're looking looking for ammo to use in stupid shit flamewars.

More later, or poss. tomorrow, I've got myself all annoyed now.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 12 December 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

C-Man vs. Bob Saget

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Friday, 12 December 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave Coulier

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 12 December 2003 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

How odd that this is not mentioned here by 'himself'.

Come now, that would give the game away.

I admit to being a bit cheesed over some of the talk that what I did yesterday with his posts was either arbitrary or done because of Kate, but at the same time I won't pretend that I handled things yesterday smoothly myself. What it boils down to is what I have said -- Calum has no grounds for legitimate complaint and has wasted any goodwill or consideration completely if he had any to begin with. Even yesterday, when he was trying to portray himself as a wounded lamb, he trotted out the anti-Blount talk, AGAIN, which rather undercuts any point he was trying to make. There is nothing worth considering which comes from him.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I suddenly started getting lots of spam [up to fifty pieces of per day] in my yahoo! account, about four months ago, after getting only the occassional one or two. I am guessing that this is blount's fault.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

can i blame my premature balding on blount?

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone cut me off in traffic today and I know Blount must have put him up to it. I could just tell.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I blame him for my flu, I do.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

RJG (RJG), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish he'd do my homework for me.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah well, I got a mysterious (approx) seven-fold increase in spam almost overnight after getting into an argmnt w/a nazi sociopath on a musician's bulletin board where blount never posts, BUT IT'S sTILL HIS FAULT, OBV!!!1

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

My headache? All down to Blount.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

poor hstencil is obviously no longer to blame for ANYTHING

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

c-man didn't really make much of an effort at the-gas-station, gareth, he made no attempt to engage w/the people there, it was just stuff like:

'who here is gay?'

http://www.the-gas-station.com/messages.cfm?thread_id=55086&lastdays=59#444645

'u r all gay'

http://www.the-gas-station.com/messages.cfm?thread_id=55084&lastdays=60#444579

plus he added to an already existing thread w/this: "this forum is the gayest ever, you all are gay, yuo=fagot' etc etc etc

http://www.the-gas-station.com/messages.cfm?thread_id=55033&lastdays=59#444590

he also posted some snidey thread abt me, but like I give a shit, I only care abt 5 people there at most, and they all know me from other forums.

Apart from that cinema forum he posted on, what other forums has our demented animal lover posted on I wonder?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 12 December 2003 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

please burn all my records and fuck right off

It has to be said that in recent years the noted Bernard temper has been applied brilliantly to apt targets (I'm thinking of him telling off the drunk loudmouths at his LA show back in 1998 or so).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

The logic used in that second paragraph is astounding!

oops (Oops), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Right, I've just deleted a couple more vicious personal attacks from Calum, at new targets. I am now joining the ranks, for the first time, of the mods who are automatically deleting EVERYTHING I identify as Calum posts, whatever they say.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

(sorry it means Oops's post makes no sense)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

huh? what happened there? the paragraph i was referring to got deleted

(xpost ah I see)

oops (Oops), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

He's posted the attack on Pashmina, with the usual petty hate and gross stupidity, four times now. I will keep deleting them.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

and he's started threatening me now - fortunately in a way that makes no sense at all.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

We have nothing against facists, Calum.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

now I'm a facist it seems! Hurrah!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate faces, Martin! They are so inconvenient!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, being able to get a glimpse of C posts is now like seeing an eclipse or an aurora, except all the ass end of it.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:40 (twenty-two years ago)

"Oh funny man. funny little man."

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, since I suspect there might be complaints that somehow we're treating him 'unfairly' or something, I'll quote a sample of what he keeps posting here to give you an idea as to why we're all tired of him. The majority of his rant was about Norman, actually, so please don't assume I'm just doing this because I feel I've received a dread insult (which I haven't): And Ned is a penis. I actually emailed him off board in LA to ask him to meet for a quiet pint with myself and some friends whilst I was in LA. Perhaps Ned still has my nice invitation somewhere which he can post here instead of slagging me off and making no response to it? Maybe just deleting this entire message will work eh? Because that's the best way - slag me off but don't allow any response. I think postees here would surely be interested in knowing about Ned posting shit about me here but unable to actually make the effort to meet me in real life. What a fucking loser. Pathetic.

(Keep in mind I had no intention or desire to ever meet Calum, of course.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

when are suede playing in glasgow?

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, I am happy if you want to keep the attack on you in print, Ned - it's his usual loathsome but ineffectual, ill-directed stuff - but should we leave it to Norman to make/not make decisions on the other part?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, Ned. Thank you for the snapshot, the ESSENCE of this aurora Boring-All-Of-Us.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I'll reedit the quote to just keep the attack on me, then. If Norman doesn't mind the full quote, we can reinclude it as an example.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Calum claiming to be a woman in the stuff aimed at Norman? He can't STILL think Pashmina is female, surely?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Calum will claim that Pash is female, that anyone tired of his antics has no life, that he is the only victim at the hands of evil moderators, that nobody understands his jokes, ANYTHING to avoid admitting he is a fuckup. The act is old.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 13 December 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

is there any chance that calum could threaten to mail the ilx board owner or call the police again? i loved that. that was fun!

charltonlido (gareth), Saturday, 13 December 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, Im sure the Australian police will really give a monkeys about all this =)

This thread is odd, mainly because, to those who came in late, its hard to take the line as canon ("C is being like THIS") because youre all deleting all the proof!

Conversely, if he admits he likes to wind ppl up, thats fine, he just gotta take it in his stride if others like blount do the same back to him - some trolls/flamers take that in their stride and love a fight (and I agree with nickalicious, sometimes it can be damn funny) but I guess floods of crap aren't warranted.

I dunno, Ive not said anything much on this issue in the time Ive been on ILX but it all seems blown a lot more out of proportion than perhaps it need be because of all the attention some people pay it.

*shrug*
