How young is TOO young?

I'm 25. Is it wrong of me to be eyeing these lovely 18 year olds (and some younger) I'm meeting on Friendster and other such sites? I feel so creepy.

the angry cowboy (dick), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

The solution is to join GusGus.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

HALF PLUS SEVEN RULE! YOU ARE IN DIRECT VIOLATION!

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you already know the answer to this or you wouldn't be asking.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, when most of my female friends were 14-16, they had (obviously smarmy) boyfriends who were 18-22. Now that I'm in my twenties, who the FUCK are these twenty year olds who would consider sleeping with a sixteen year old?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Truth hurts, Huckleberry! Maybe I will create a new profile in which I lie and say I too am 18, then that way, they won't KNOW I'm creepy.

Yeah! Genius.

the angry cowboy (dick), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha Cprek owns half-plus-seven rule OH NO HE DIHN'T!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I met my wife when she was 16 and I was 19 Jordan - that's only one year out!

Fancying 18 year olds - fine (also maybe unavoidable)

Doing something about it - hmmm.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost)

haha!

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

It's fine. Don't listen to 'em.

I think...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

(Should I be sad that no one besides maybe Ned will think my first post was clever/funny?)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Fancying 18 yr olds = U&K. Its not creepy-young now, is it!

Johnney B (Johnney B), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

It depends how old you are. We had a 40 year old boss who leched vainly after au pairs and it was just creepy and undignified.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

If you're old enough to have sired them at 15, you;re too old...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

(NB, I was 16 and dating a 19 yr old [who had 21 yr old boyfriend when she was 15 or something], so yeah)

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

being 25 as well, i'm perfectly happy to ogle any females between the age of 18 and 40 (though exceptions are possible)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'm 25 too. I've decided.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Can we talk about Calvin S Club now?

Mmmm.

Miss Marianna, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

you 25 year olds have 4 years to reach your peak @ 29 - midpoint between 18-40

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought dudes hit their peak at 19?

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

that's a year wasted then.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

yup. I didn't hook up at all when I was 19.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

i remember Melissa mentioned on ilx she had a Nerve dating profile, [the age range was upto 35], but I think that was set to be inclusive of Radiohead members ;-)

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm rapidly going past that peak with all these birthdays i've been having lately

ken c, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

if i catch up on the last ten years within the next four that would be nice (tho tiring)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Should I be sad that no one besides maybe Ned will think my first post was clever/funny?

There's gotta be one other fan at least.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember my going away party when I left Calgary, just after turning 20, very drunkenly telling the girl I had been crushing on (who had a big scary-looking bf) how she had missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime.
Of course, I'm actually about a thousand times better in the sack now than I was then. But that's technique, not raw manliness.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I confess that I was ever so slightly perving on a 23 year old the other day (who is that? he's hot! yes, he is. he's also 23. Owwww)

may pang (maypang), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I like GusGus but have no idea what the joke is. I only have the latest album. It's pretty cool though. They are a real DAN (ce) act.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

HALF PLUS SEVEN RULE! YOU ARE IN DIRECT VIOLATION!

I like to imagine this as Dan with a revolving police light strapped to his head, running around with a huge white weather balloon.

"Orange Alert! Orange Alert! Twentysomethings ogling teenagers! Orange Alert!"

El Santo Claus (Kingfish), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

How do you tell when someone's "leching," and is it related to age? I'm over-friendly sometimes w/ppl I'm kinda into but that has never raised eyebrows as far as I know, it's just cause, you know, I can be that way (I get away with it by being ridiculously enthusiastic w/guys, too). Once I reach 40 will I have to play it all cool w/people in their mid-20s, like I'm barely impressed by them?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

does 'barely impressed' mean 'not a fullon erection'?

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

29? Really? OK I'm 29 then

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, do the maths: 29 = midpoint between 18-40 = ideal age for choice

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

We could tell this guy was leching cos he kept bringing in photographs of his au pairs, asking the male staffers if they thought the a.p.s were hot, and on one occasion bringing one into the office and almost literally parading her, and then coming back after a lunch date with her (for which he had specially hired a BMW on expenses!) to ask us all what we thought.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

(Ronan, you need _This Is Normal_, specifically the song "Teenage Sensation".)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, we are evile to-day. Nickalicious doubly so.

El Santo Claus (Kingfish), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd hit 25 cousins

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

that's the limit though.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

unless you get vouchers from someone who doesn't have 25 cousins to hit.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there a system set up like pollution credits?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm 35.

i just dated a 23 year old,
before that a 28 year old,
and i am now dating a 31 year old.

my rationalization for dating younger girls has always hinged on the fact that boys (well, THIS boy) are so much dumber than girls, at least "emotionally" -- it started to backfire on me with the 23 year old, who, while gorgeous, is a tad too tolerant of drama than i'd like.

that's the thing with dating younger people -- they tend to have much more of a tolerance for stupid shit -- acting out, 3 hour arguments that really should only last 5 minutes, and the like.

yetimike (McGonigal), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

that said, younger females are much more easily impressed by all the dumb shit that women my age see right through.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:09 (twenty-two years ago)

YOUNG PEOPLE R ALL GAY

ken c, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I've always dated older women. My girlfriend is 5 years older than me. But every now and then, just for a second, I wonder if it would be nice to date someone who ISN'T more mature than me, someone who would be impressed by my wealth of experience and all that.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Mike: Well, or more specifically, that the problem with anyone who doesn't have much experience with dating. Sometimes even people in their 30s who have little dating history can pull that shit.

Ken: I wish!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I am of negative age.. i'm -17 and a half.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

don't go paraphrasing winger db

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

ha donut bitch = class 71

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't imagine actually wanting to be in a relationship with someone who was 18. First of all, 18-year-olds are idiots. Have you ever had to hang out with one? Two words: college freshman. Complete idiots. Secondly, I have a 21-year-old sister, so to me, dating anyone her age or younger would be creepy. But you know, the heart wants what the heart wants.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

blount, funny you mention Winger's "17"... (heh heh)

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

you know digging their profile is entirely different than being around them in person. i was around some drunk 20 year old girls last week and I felt like a parent watching their kids get amped up on too much sugar. Settle down!

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Nick, once again you have confused dating with licking.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i was around some drunk 20 year old girls last week and I felt like a parent watching their kids get amped up on too much sugar.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Do people still "date"?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently the new trend in dating is not talking

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i was so ahead of my time

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i've dated guys 5 years younger than me and up to 12 years older than me.

hopefully, the latter doesn't know that he was known to my friends as 'old guy'...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i have dated a girl five years younger than me, and a girl seven years older than me.

fuckt: nine years younger, twenty one years older

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

12 and 13 here also

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

There comes a time when you have to realize that all those 25 year old jerks who dated the suicide girls in high school are actually YOU.

So enjoy it.

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

And congratulations to Mr. Blount.

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was in college my friends and I would always get excited when the new crop came in. Lets see, so I would have been around 20 and the youngest girl was 18....

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't wait.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Last summer I was driving around Boston on my way to a friends house and I was on Commonwealth Ave between B.U. and B.C. and there was an abundance of young girls. So I pulled up to a red light in my hot ride (98 Nissan Sentra no hubcaps). This really hot girl pulls up along side of me with her windows down and pumping "U Don't Have To Call." Me, im sweating my ass of in the Sentra because I have no AC. So I decide to flip the station to whatever she had on, because she was enjoying it and dancing around. So I flipped it, turned it up and put the seat back a bit. She looked over at me, I winked at her, she flipped me off and sped off. It was then I realized I don't have the technique anymore. Nor the body.

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm keeping my drunk post-adolescents to myself, @d@m

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

actually I think you were at work friday night.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Does sex bracelet sex count?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the shit that happens to me all the time. Driving on the mass pike one afternoon, going along in the middle lane I inexplicably went in for "the pick". A car full of hot young girls pull up along side of me, I had no idea. And im knuckle deep. I look over and there they are pointing and laughing and I could read one girls lips "did you see that, disgusting." I pulled off the next exit.

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, you are my hapless romcom lead character.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

"knuckle deep"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 18:12 (twenty-two years ago)

First cousins are out. Second cousins are oh so IN.

andy, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Former U.S. Presidents to thread!

El Santo Claus (Kingfish), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

(Pops head in window) Yoouuu raaannngggg? (Wild applause)

Grover Cleveland (Nick A.), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, doesn't it make you wonder that the majority of people who answered this thread were male...from the looks of it, and from what I can tell by simple observation, the ladies don't usually go after young boys. And what's up with us thinking it's some sort of conquest when we do manage to get a younger one? I mean, I know all the answers to my own questions, but I still feel all ick.

the angry cowboy (dick), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha conquest I claim this innocent virginal beauty in the name of America!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:52 (twenty-two years ago)

we're just smarter about spilling the beans.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:52 (twenty-two years ago)

It can be creepy when one is a captive audience when in the wooing..(i.e. school, retail, etc.) (and I stress "can", because I've been asked out on a date several times by a captive audience while she was on duty, so to speak, kinda making me a semi-captive audience by proxy), otherwise, as long as both are very upfront about their intentions for each other and are mature enough*, then age doesn't really matter.

*"mature enough" meaning first and foremost a) LEGAL, b) mature enough to realize the consequences on self and other party, and c) is cautious enough. All of the above have very subjective definitions, I'll grant.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

But I'm sure that if I were to try to date one of these girls (who seem to be all over me in interweb land), I wouldn't hear the end of it from most of the people I associate with. Why would I want to do that? Because she's tiny compared to the mature, my age girls I come across?

the angry cowboy (dick), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

B-but at least Jess, Blount, Colette & I have been in relationships where the woman is older?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

When you were teens? Like, older 20-something or 30-ish women wanted to date you when you were just learning to drive and such? See, it's just not the same.

the angry cowboy (dick), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was 16 my girlfriend was 19, when I was 17 she was in college (granted, I was a young senior in high school). I see your point though.

Maybe more 30-ish women should be perving on high school boys.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

If we have to involve mathematics, tt should not so such be about age difference but age multiplication. If your age is at least 2.5 or 3 times greater than his or hers, then, for example, that's where things could be weird.

Then again, amongst some male gay friends I know, I'm aware of plenty of 20-year-olds "bois" that prey on dudes that are at least 50 and vice versa, and they general seem fine with it. *shrug*

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

my last girlfriend was 4 years older than me.

El Santo Claus (Kingfish), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, who's going to draft the first SMAT test to solve all of this nonsense? (Sexual Maturity Apptitude Test)

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

OTM, sir. OTM.

the angry cowboy (dick), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I confess that I have surely fancied 18 year olds. I work in a university, and see lots of people around, some of whom are sexy, some of whom are surely that young. I'm not dumb enough to think I am in with a chance, but it's not that they are too young for me, it's understanding that I am far too old (and unattractive) for them. (If any hot young people would like to correct that impression, my email is below.)

Biggest age gap for someone I've had sex with: 18 years, when I was 42. I know several people of 24 or less with whom I really enjoy talking (there are several just within London ILX for instance), but this person was one of the most vacuous people I've ever met. And one of the hottest. We fucked a couple of times, but the conversation was impossible, and it was never going to last. The oldest person I've had sex with was 3 years older than me, around the same time (my wild days after over 20 years of monogamy).

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

you're a bit of a horndog martin

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

You're just jealous.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

NA otm.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, OF COURSE I'm OTM. Duh!

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

At least, you're honest about being an undercover horndog, NA. (And no, that doesn't mean you have to act on your hormones!)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I notice that no hot 18 year olds have corrected me yet.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:28 (twenty-two years ago)

martin they need to bottle your essence or something.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Fiddo, you're asking for the impossible.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

thirty is too young if they look like they're twelve.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

That explains my solo state, then.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Hm. I'm 24 and have resolved not to go lower than 18 for obvious reasons, prime among them distancing myself from those who cannot grow up. Maybe this is a decent guideline: take it as it comes. If you meet an 18-yr-old in a club or something, suspend May-December thoughts, and go for it. But if you think about it too much in your spare time and pursue it until it becomes an 'entitlement' kind of thinking where you idealize this kind of thing, you're a bit of a write off, even if you try to reclaim it by joking. Sorry.

DarrensCoq, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm starting to get worried, because the age range at which I fancy girls isn't keeping up with my actual aging. I think this certainly means i must become a rock star as a career.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

DarrensCoq?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

my fancying age range has definitely moved with my age. which i'm quite pleased about actually.

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

18 and 24 isn't so much May-December as it is April-May.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not even sure that I know what "May-December" means. I just looked at the jobs thread and realized I don't know what "pagination" and "invigilator" mean, and these words even have workforces behind them.

DarrensCoq, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

it's more like april 3rd-april 27th.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Everyone I've ever dated (haha, all six of 'em) has been older than me -- although most were within a year and a half. One was four and a half years older, though. (I was 18; she was 22.)

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

man i'm practically on some graduate shit compared to everyone cept blount

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Darren, the idea is that you're born in January and you die an old geezer in December, and so a May-December relationship is one where someone is in the May part of their life and the other person is in the December part.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

COOL.

I know an 18-year old currently dating a 30-year old banker or stock broker or something. It's very creepy.

(Even creepier - her older brother is now dating the banker/broker's younger sister.)

18 is well within my age range, but still would seem creepy. If one of you is old enough to drink legally, the other one should be, and all that. Lingering effects of the creeps who dated my female friends in high school - "don't be that guy."

That's not creepy. That's cool.

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

That first part.

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

The part with the hot girl.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah.

lordamercy have i perved on some older women (one of my dad's colleagues this summer with the camille p haircut, hoo wee oo) ('your son is so cute' she says to him) (haha sorry pop! gotcha!) but 4 yrs older is my max. only dated someone younger once, and only a year.

i'm kind of a narcissist prick it turns out.

My 36-yr-old ex-boyfriend is dating a 22 yr old. Seems fine. In general if you're old enough to be the person's mother/father, then it's no good. Also an adult dating under 18 not good.

The youngest i go is 5 yrs younger than me. Otherwise, I've discovered, there's just not as much to talk about.

Well, if it's just sex, how much do you really need to talk?

This thread is making me feel like a weirdo!

I'm 32. My current partner is 21. All I can say is so fucking what? I dont look 32, and he doesnt look 21, so no one questions us until I tell them - and then I get given shit, even from my friends and it irritates me.

I was involved with a guy 8 years OLDER than me some time ago, and he was the most emmotionally stunted person Ive ever met. Ive known plenty of guys well over 25 who still act like twats, and more than a few well under 25 who are lovely, mature, thoughtful people with real goals and hard work ethic.

My partner is one of those people. He treats me with more respect, kindness, generosity and heart-burting love than I've ever had from a partner, and he's working really hard towards his chosen career in which he is really talented.

Whos to say those of us over 25 are any more grown up?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

My last boyfriend was 19, when I was 29. He was so adorable that I hardly noticed that he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, so to speak. My husband's 6 years younger than I am.

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:01 (twenty-two years ago)

... groan... I caught myself, when looking at my cousin's website, seeing his WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too young, relation aside, daughter, and thinking "hm, she's going to grow up to be quite the..."

AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! AGUUUUUUUUUUUH!

I should, to quote Boris the Sprinkler's 1-3, be locked in a cage.

What I've actually done? 17-year-old at what 27; 42-year-old at 17.

Ann Sterzinger (Ann Sterzinger), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce OTM. I don't know how you could make a hard and fast (ahem) rule about something like this.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks oops :)

To be honest my first thought was "who thinks of anyone in terms of age???" I dont. I sure think of how old people ACT - but NOT HOW OLD THEY ARE.

Legality notwithstanding of course, even I'd draw the line at 18 ;)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, I found out recently while doing my security clearance paperwork all over again that the relationship between the birthdates of my parents is almost exactly the same as the relationship between my birthday and my girlfriend's (one year, eleven months, 1-2 days)

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, me too re: 18. Even that seems a lil creepy to me, as most 18 year olds already seem very young to me. The fact that it's legal for a 50 year old man to have sex with an 18 year old girl is odd.
It's an arbitrary cut-off point ('how old are you?' '17' 'oh, good day then...' 'but i'll be 18 in 5 minutes' 'you don't say?'), but it's as good a point as any I suppose. Isn't that legal age under 16 in some southern states?

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Too young is different for different people.

At 26 I dated a 28-year-old and a 20-year-old, both pretty similar as it turned out maturity-wise though the 20-year-old was a bit vacuous (but in general, not due to age). Both were too young in that they didn't really have much of a clue as to what they were all about personally.

After that both girls I've dated have been 3-4 years younger, which seems about right for me as my social development was a little later than most my age.

webcrack (music=crack), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Oops, I think the legal age is under 16 if you're married in some southern states.

webcrack (music=crack), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

14-year olds can still get married in Texas (w/ parental consent) and start pumping out babies.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Awesome.

may pang (maypang), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 03:57 (twenty-two years ago)

And yet they can't sell vibrators. Ya gotta love it!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 04:03 (twenty-two years ago)

That's why they allow them to get married so young!

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 04:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahahah :D

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)
