What are nice places to live in Australia apart from Melbourne & Sydney?

curious person, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

they are the only nice places in the whole of australia.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

and there are serious question marks over sydney

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

tamworth is very nice. lots of coffee shops.

mullywaster, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh. Melbourne's too flat and Sydney's too expensive. What about Brisbane?

curious person, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah thats where i live.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I've heard Brisbane's improved. True?

curious person, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry curious person, what you're asking is a highly objective question. What do you define as "a nice place to live"?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

improved in what sense?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

brisvegas: too hot, not close enough to the coast, located in Queensland.

mullygasper, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

not close enough to the coast? Are you on drugs? It's ON the coast.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

*shamefully admits to never having been there*

mullywaster, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I quite like Perth.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I have heard that Perth is death but Margaret River is nice. Perth is certainly a fuck of a long way from anywhere.

My criteria for a nice place to live: not too expensive, cosmopolitan feel, city buzz, beaches nearby, nice climate, affordable accommodation, good restaurants/bars/nightlife, nice rural areas nearby for days weekends away.

curious person, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

hi

CAss (CAss), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

not sydney then.

isn't brissy on the river rather thatn the coast?

how about umina?

o, hi CAss.

mullygasper, Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Free-o!

mullygasper, Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

melbourne too flat? madness

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

im fascinated by sharks. has anyone seen one in real life?

CAss (CAss), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

not too expensive, cosmopolitan feel, city buzz, beaches nearby, nice climate, affordable accommodation, good restaurants/bars/nightlife, nice rural areas nearby for days weekends away.

sounds like where i am, except it's kinda expensive..

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Brisbane is on the river but the sunshine coast is an hours drive north, the gold coast is an hours drive south and stradbroke island is an hour out to see, theres a semi-cosmo feel in the right suburbs, it's still quite cheap to live here compared to sydney and melbourne.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

out to sea i mean...duh i must be tired.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i collected 8 shark eggs walking the beach last satdee

mullygasper, Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i once found a shark egg in greece. i think it was a shark egg at least.

CAss (CAss), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 09:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

WODONGA!

hey you sydney peeps i just played a gig supporting Miss Moon tonight. she is my nu hero.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

hey! i was born in wodonga!!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i am getting drunk...NO XXXX!

hey Di yeeeeeas! who is miss moon? how was the gig?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

in fact i spent my formative years there

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i spent a couple of formative weeks there, with my sister and brother-in-law :-). miss moon is a spoken word/multimedia artist type from sydney, and she came to us to entertain feminist queer style with pink zebra print mini-skirt and bra-top and a giant fake muff which she chopped off while standing on top of a television, ranting "hey there cunt face!"

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

sounds pretty awesome. I've not heard of her before.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

now i feel boring that the best live experience i've had this year was loungey piano pop

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

hey, it's all about the music maaaaaaannnn!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

o wait! is does ms moon do stuff about moths and stuff? kind of a people like us associate? i have a weird disc by her!!!

wodanga...great name. today we drove through wallabadar!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

wodonga mully, it's WO-DONG-A

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

wo-dong-a

got it

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Miss Moon didn't say anything about moths tonight. she sometimes reminded me of miranda july. yeah she is "kind of a people like us associate", if i am interpreting that sentence correctly.

wodonga IS a cool name! and do you know whats even cooler? it has a street called warratah way! that my sister lived on!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

hehehehe

sorry. my husband consistently calls it "whoa-donger" and it pisses me off.

ah di, i think i know what part of wondonga that's in. funny i haven't lived there sincei was 13 and yet the whole place is etched in my memory.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost) okay i turn in now, another shutups gig tomorrow. goodnight you lovely aussie mongrels.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Hello antipodeans! Are we allowed to plug friends' bands who are coming to play for you? Go see Pipas! Clap and cheer and make them feel welcome! They are touring with the Lucksmiths at the beginning of May. Thank you.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

yay i heard today that pipas were on the way. i will be there for sure.

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

so you're taking me?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm they're on apr 30th so yeah most likely!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

oh! nighty night ms lurex.

we do this thing with the kids where we say lets make u a story and one of us says like the first couple of sentences and then the next person continues the tale and after spending time with voni's relatives it has turned into scatology:

ME: there was a gorilla named sam and he was riding a motorbike throught the bush and came to a field and he stopped and...

BRYN: he did a HUGE poo and picked it up and threw it at a great big idiot and the idiot farted and...

DYLAN: he ate the poo and put the fart in a big bottle and drank it with a little bit of wee-wee...

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

awesome.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

haha

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm fucking huge. I could break a bed just looking at it sideways :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:34 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

hi di!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Saturday, 17 April 2004 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

how were the mushies?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Saturday, 17 April 2004 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

hey ipso! hows your weekend going? the mushies were hmmmm not so fun, made me feel pretty disconnected from everyone. i managed to have a good time anyway, thanks to the renderers, the chills (on form for once!) and an impromptu clean reunion. and theres a gay bar in dunedin again! HALLELUJHA!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 17 April 2004 23:13 (twenty-two years ago)

rockin'. Last gay bar i went to i was totally thinking i'd hook up and I don't know, something happened and i didn't. Mind you this was about 3 or 4 years ago.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Saturday, 17 April 2004 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

the bar i went to is called the pit, and its very festive, but it needs a better cocktail menu.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 17 April 2004 23:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Theres a dyke bar up here called the tongue and groove i was supposed to go to with some friends recently but I couldn't be arsed.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Saturday, 17 April 2004 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi everyone. I went to Luna Park last night. Now I know where they still play happy hardcore - on the Tango. Thats the one with the carriages that go round and round.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 17 April 2004 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

sounds positively vomituous

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Saturday, 17 April 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i had a dream last night and colin was in it. i don't actually remember anything about it other than that

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 18 April 2004 00:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't go on this other ride cos someone had just spewed on it. I asked the attendant if people spewed on it often? She said, 'We've already had 12 spews today'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 07:31 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 07:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 April 2004 08:18 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

We've been slobby geeks all weekend, coding and playing SimCity and not doing any cleaning, the house is a sty, sometimes I feel like such a child :(

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 18 April 2004 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

hehhehehe, nothing wrong with that. This place i'm in is slobby central. I haven't seen the bedroom floor for weeks, months even...

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

WHATS COVERING THE FLOOR??

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 08:43 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 08:54 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 08:56 (twenty-two years ago)

For shame!

So, re that thread about girl pants on men... what's the verdict ladies? Hott? And wot about the fringe over one eye?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yes. Stop it, you're turning me on!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

With the open fly look, I suppose the underwear beecomes important.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:13 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm anti-underwear.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not a fan but jesus, those elephant ones are pretty special.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

the trunk would be pretty sad looking most of the time

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi mully.

So the elephant jocks protrude through the girls pants? And then the white belt and the floppy fringe over one eye.

This is beyond the outer reaches of cool.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

we haven't had a champagne jam like this in ages.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, isn't it great? And only because we're all drunk at the same time.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah! rock!!!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:34 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Sami Jhylaggurkel (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Vegetables are essential for sound mind in sound body. Yet I feel we are noble and violent in our carnivorous cravings and this should be respected, is it not so? Cowardly is the lion who behaves to act like a lamb.

Janne Karlsson (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you a man or a wilder beast Janne? Our highness is surely the very overcoming of craving like an animal.

Sami Jhyllakurgel (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

you know what the fucking hilarious thing is?

Janne Karlsson is my swedish uncles name.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

does he sport the elephant?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I am watching the original version of the ring on the good old SBS. It's meant to be much scarier than the hollywood version, and I was scared by it. I might have nightmares.

x-post.

I dunno, he's pretty big all over, so probably has quite a hefty elephant. Ewwww....i'm talking bout my uncle!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

is this a commonly held belief or scientific fact about the bigness thing?

sorry i thought uncle was some kind of code.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

no idea my husband is about the same size and rather under-sized. So I guess it's a lie.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

o man, does he read ilx?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Janne Karlsson is my swedish uncles name.

haha is that right? I picked the name cos it was the name of a former boyfriend of my sister's.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

big felly col? viking hat?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

nope. :-D

do you really think i'd say something like that if he did?

x-post. Honest to god truth but he's been married since the early 70's so I doubt it's the same guy.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

No, skinny, tall, good looking in a crazy mixed up way. He was a punk though, not a metalhead. (x-post)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

out of nowhere the boys have picked up the term "buckethead" as an insult.

"you're a bucket head!"
"no! you a bucket head! you a big buckethead!!!"
"you're a poopoo buckethead!!!"
"you a poo poo wee wee buckethead!"

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 18 April 2004 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

That's interesting. It's similar to the conversations my 4 yr old girl has with her 4 yr old neighbour:

"You poo head!"
"You wee wee head!"

etc

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't know you *both* had kids.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yup. I've only got one though.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

got any plans for more colin?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Not for six years. You?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

no fucking way.

the sooner they spay me the better.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah but they are so good to snuggle.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

probably. :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I won't tell you it's worth it though. I am not one of those smug parents. Far from it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 18 April 2004 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I am and will continue to be too irresponsible to look after a child. I can barely look after myself.

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 18 April 2004 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

so when are you in melbourne?

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 April 2004 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Ess have you been to Launceston? (I can't remember).
We should return on some sort of weird "finding our roots" kick or something. HMMM! My alcoholic mechanics roots.

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Monday, 19 April 2004 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Next month Surace Noise. Nut now I'm shaking in my shoes, I mean, what if you think we sound like origami??

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 19 April 2004 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

surace? nut?

it's not origami's sound i object to really, it's the singer's desperate (and cringeworthy) desire to come across as a cross between jon spencer and corin tucker, which she fails at in a miserably terrible way.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 April 2004 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

jim you ain't here often enough.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 19 April 2004 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

That was deliberate: 'Sure Ace' is what we call you round these parts. 'Nut now' simply refers to the fact I'm a little bit nuts right now.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:14 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry! i do try to pop in as often as i can...

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought it was kinda funny how they all wanted to look like Carrie

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

funnypathetic

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:30 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry, i don't know why i dislike them so much. it's definitely more than their music, which at best isn't bad and at worst is forgettable.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Pathetically funny's my favourite type! I've only seen them that one time at the S-K support, but God they were awful. Dedicated a song to STS, world's worst drummer, too.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:35 (twenty-two years ago)

sure ace...i think thats the name of the guy who took my sisters virginity???

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:36 (twenty-two years ago)

hey c. I've been heaps (well three times, but fairly long times) - all my relatives were there when I was a kid. my tassie roots = lumberjacks!

i am v.near.def going to melbourne/launceston this year (ch4rlotte's artwurld mother was in the bookstore today, & apparently there's some sort of insane airport-tax-including auckland-melbourne fare for $119, wtf?!? sadly google is not helping).

etc, Monday, 19 April 2004 05:40 (twenty-two years ago)

my drummer's other bandmates are all from laun'ston. or "inceston" as they like to call it

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, that's about what it is, we paid it that time

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:59 (twenty-two years ago)

whats so bad about sts' drumming?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 19 April 2004 06:15 (twenty-two years ago)

what's sts?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 19 April 2004 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

what do you mean ripped out the wall? I need specifics.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

mully, this may help?

http://www.coateshomecentre.com.au/tips_tricks/tip_gyprock_repair.htm

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm getting a headcold... please kill me k thx.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

how would you like to go honey?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

we had to replace a water heater and wanted it outside so the plumber had to cut a hole in the wall to redirect the plumbing and our 2nd bathrooms therefore had a huge hole in the wall so i pulled the whole plasterboard wall off and am gonna replace/repaint. the tiles at skirting board level are a bastard and theres also a powerpoint and the dunny water pipe to come through the wall.

i have never done this before. how hard can it be? measure. snap the gyprock to size. disconnect the electrix and the water. cut wee holes (using a drill and a hacksaw blade???) in the new gyprock at the right spots. wack the new boards in. nail. replace the tiles.

xpost thanks col

kills trayce.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

How about calling in an expert?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i agree with colin, if you've not done this before i'm afraid you've got an extremely high chance of fucking it up.

I've done plastering before and repaired plaster. This is not an easy job.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i have no money :-(

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmmm....I thought that might be the reason you wanted to do it yourself.

Well you can only try I guess.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaah. OK, do lotsa research on the net, have a chat at the hardware store, get it straight in your mind, then do it. Make sure the electrical and water is off, of course.

Just think - if you get it right, your wife is going to go 'my hero' and give you anything, ANYTHING, you want!!! Good luck, soldier. Go for gold.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Then maybe you can put up some shelves.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

make a spice rack even.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

the last shelves i made fell down within the hour! i am used to bricks and planks shelves :-(

still, i'm gonna do it. you can all laugh after.

col i do the research. its that moment when something soesn't quite work and i try to force it and...

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll be praying for you gaz. :P

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:22 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, OK, I know what you're talking about there. But you're aware of that now - so it's less likely to happen. Also, if you have a back up plan, and take things in stages, with each stage being one from which you can go back a step if necessary...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:24 (twenty-two years ago)

FUCKING BASTARD SHITFUCK.

i haven't ruined anything but the guy who put it up sure skimped or something. i can't pull the nails out. the head snaps off, so i haveta punch em back into the studs. also he floor tiled after doing the walls - sensible i guess - but a bastard for me to cut out.

you know that feeling when things should be straightforward, but...

*sigh* i thought this was gonna take 3 or 4 hours.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

goodbye weekend.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:52 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:57 (twenty-two years ago)

You just never know! There are all kinds of people here. They talk a load of crap, but they are secretly employed as a very sensible, useful person. Consider yourself, for example.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I love this "secretly" part ;)

"Oh no, my real job as a sensible accountant has been found out by all on ILX OH NO!"

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi mully. Hi surface noisey!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

hi coliny!

do you like the idea gaz and i had upthread?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I do! But only if I get to wear a tea cosy on my head and act like Iggy on Countdown.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll rest sunglasses atop my head and look like i haven't slept in weeks

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Then it's settled. We need that Sami guy to manage us. He can kick in a few heads, get us into the A list.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi Trayce! I didn't realise you were here too until I had the masochistic urge to scroll upthread.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Im only half here, i think Im coming down with something, Ive been feeling run down for a day or two, but no fullblown cold wtf wahhh.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i will be spending a little less time here during the day. i've been warned about my high internet use :( :( :(

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

this place is actually a little more enjoyable when you turn images off. who'da thunk it?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

You must show yourself to be a good person, sir.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 03:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Whee!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 03:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I will be excited to look after your project. The tea cosy is a great berzerker innovation dating from the distant past.

Sami Jhyllmagrube (gaz), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Plz kill me k thx... feel so ill... fever rising... urge to kill all goths from perth rising...

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't really get why they bug you so much!

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

goths from perth in melb? its a pilgrimmage? a hoard?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Jim - I have a history, shall we say. IRC #gothic. Long time ago, mon. Basically all the perth goth girlies decided I was a total beeyotch and spread a lot of slander about me, and they'd never even spoken a word to me let alone met me before.

Plus I loathe Octaine with everything I can loathe a person with. And she's ex-perth (I think).

I dunno, its irrational Im sure. Maybe my fever speaking.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

it's the vapours!!

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 05:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 05:58 (twenty-two years ago)

*wonders if oops is watching and will rescue me* ;P

(god I'm a tart)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 05:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Sami, should you choose to manage this shit band there may be some actions I will pertain to you. Do not make me send my familiar. Did you dream, I think, last night, of a one-eyed black cat? So.

Janne Karlsson (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Oops? Ooops! Come at once and bring your smelling salts!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Alone, alone on the bringy Sheepfuxors thread...

Hey guess what? In the past 2 days I've had two separate emails about 'The Cicada That Ate Five Dock' by Outline. One woman offered to send me a copy of the album, plus an ep, and the other told me that it had been requested on FBI!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Cicada!
Cicada!
Cicada!
That! Ate! Five! Dock!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

take her up on it!!!

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I have, jim. I sent her a very grateful email.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

woo hooo

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

This might interest some of you, especially you jim. I'm reading an autobiography (in manuscript, unpublished) of one of the guys from Dist*ant Loc*st. I've only got the first chapter, but it includes the famous account of Mr Bowie dropping in on their set at the Evil Star. It's brilliantly funny in a very, very bleak way, and beautifully written for a book of its kind. Some other familiar faces crop up.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh, is it going to get published?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope so, I really do, it's a rivetting read to say the least. But I've already asked him and he says he hasn't approached anyone.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for apporaching anyone. I'd like to help if I could.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe whoever did "blunt" or the go-betweens biog perhaps?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Blunt - very good. I will look into it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Go Betweens? I'll check it out. Also, maybe, Jack M*rks' book - 'Sorry', about that guy from the E*sybeats. Not sure who the publisher is.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

God, those days at the Evil Star. The paranoia. The hopelessness. The alcohol.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

the easybeats one was pan macmillan

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanx.

I suppose all authors are half in dread of seeing their cruel pen-portraits going into print. Perhaps he isn't so keen to publish this memoir, as he hasn't approached any publishers I think.

He had a few:

I'm Spartacus - the one John Peel went ape over was a song called 'Donna Is Distressed' - great song.

I, Spartacus

and finally:

Ironballs McGonagall

which is a great name, don't you think?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm thinking of the spartacus ones. newcastle lad, yeah?

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 22 April 2004 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Not sure - actually he was more a friend of Mr M@c, but we used to say hi when we met at gigs. I did get to see Spartacus on one or two occasions. They were good. I remember a female keyboard player who never touched the keyboard. 'Sorry' is a wild and crazy story, worth reading.

Gaz, me, Melissa, Rachey at the rsl? Will be in Canberra on Anzac W'end tho.

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 22 April 2004 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Input needs fixing and tone switch needs replacing (the plastic tip is missing). I've offered to drop $50 off the price if the guy accepts the switch how it is, (functioning but not aesthetically pleasing) So i'm yet to hear. I'm just so fucking glad i'm rid of it finally. $500 isn't much but it's enough to make me do a silly dance around the loungeroom :)

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 22 April 2004 01:58 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, how did R react?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 23 April 2004 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, she wasn't too fazed. She liked the bit about sounding like a washed up trashbag wandering up Oxford St in fishnets. That was very accurate.

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 24 April 2004 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i am drunk and my bands totally fucking rule dunedin. gay bars that are secretly open on anzac day are the best.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 24 April 2004 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

my friends bands also rule dunedin.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 24 April 2004 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 04:36 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

happy post anzac day mully. Kids eh? they get you up in the morning.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

happy post anzac day. what did you people do? i just sat around home watching videos with my flatmates. movies watched: breakfast at tiffany's, mystery science theatre 3000, and boys don't cry. the wine my boss gave me as a leaving gift was disgusting, but it made me quite drunk.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

We hung out on Sun in Canberra with R's old friends and the little bear. One of R's friends is a sculptor. He gave the little bear a giant foam hamburger and chips, and several fake rubber milkshakes on a bench. She was thrilled. It's part of his junk food series. He gave us a sign that said, "I'm with stupid" with a pointing hand cast in bronze. It's a classic, because it's such a waste of bronze.

Then we drove back to Syd.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

we went up putty beach in the bouddi nat park and done a little walk and me and the boy clambered around the rocks and almost too late i noticed the tide and these fucking huge waves and my heart leapt to my mouth but we managed to get back to safety ok.

i am at fucking work.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

'fucking work'? Is this your second job?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

o shit

THE rod (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Do we call you when we can't satisfy the man or woman we love? Are you a kind of superhero?

Cannibalism is still very much on Ned's mind.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

*waits for His Omnipience to appear*

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

He's finally sleeping. Or sleeping it off. Long pig can wreak havoc with one's digestion.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:19 (twenty-two years ago)

mully, your job is SOOOO much better than mine, why are you always complaining? I'LL take your job any day, just let me know!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Let me tell you what I did on Thurs: I revised a manual for scheduling hearings and booking interpreters. I mean, Diana, where was your sweet honeyed voice?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i was not born to work

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

born not to work?

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

so you would empathise with that Uncanny X-Men song?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i dunno why. i am really lazy. its not like i've had a silver spoon in my mouth.

what are you all doing today? is it sunny out?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

sunnyish. cold.

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i am doing squat diddly

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

R wants to go to Bronte beach. Screw women and their urge to enjoy sunny weather. Screw sunny weather.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

what did you feel like doing col?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

staying here and chatting fart with you losers.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

what're your chances?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:55 (twenty-two years ago)

minimal.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 25 April 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

It isnt fair, you're all on hols. Well, except gaz, who seems to work as much as my Nick does, but anyway.

I'm at work, but I am thinking that because the rest of the company are based in Syd/Robina (Gold COast) no one should call or complain today as they'll think we're off too! Hahar. Plus Smellstra wholesale are shut, so theres not a lot I can do. I think I'll fart about planning my flat re-arrangement project.

Jim, hola! Hows Kate? Wheres MelW? Are we all meeting up or anything this week?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

col tell R i am suicidal and you have to talk me through it.

Hi Trayce. what is your flat rearrangement project?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Melbourne sucks. I should be outside having fun or sex or something.

Yes I know I'm talking out of place, just wanted to have a whinge. Sorry.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

thats fine adam, thats fine.

who are you?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi dere gaz! My flat is a 2brm job, and one bedroom is cosy double-size (ie it'll fit a double bed and dresser and nowt else) and the main one is HUGE - possibly even bigger than the living room. Its really silly having a bed and dresser in this big empty space while the small back room which is cosier and quieter fills up with junk. I decided we should swap rooms - the small room can be a nice cosy sleeping room, and the big room is going to become a studio - desks for 2, all our PCs/printers/laptops/etc, I'ma buy some kind of MIDI interface kbd so I can use Fruity/Cubase properly, and we can get painting and things done also. Beanbag chairs and futon sofabed will also be added. I want it to be like a big playpen for geeky adults.

Now all I need is some money, heh.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Hiya Autumn I was wondering when you'd pop in here! You're a damn funny dude :)

Where in Melb are you at? If youre someone I know I'll freak out.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:09 (twenty-two years ago)

that sounds like a great idea Trayce.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

St Kilda. I haven't read any of this thread. :)

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in St Kilda as well... well, St Kilda East. Jim's in the area too. Andrew was, but no longer.

Southside reprasent, or something (god why do I keep using AliG speak, when I hate it so?)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

St Kilda East? You're kidding? We're probably neighbours.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha! Probably! I live near the cemetary... Alex*ndra st. I have met people by chance who live in the same st before so nothing'd suprise me...

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, we're virtually neighbours.

I'm the other side of Alma, but only just.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Woah, weeeiiird. OK next time me and young Jim up thar *points up at surfacenoise* go to Pause, you should come along!

Unless you plan on never meeting any ILXors ever, which really is wise I think hahar ;)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I love Pause. Had my 30th lunch there.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too, Ive been going since it first opened, the guys that run/work the bar are just lovely and always say hi when I pop in. Which isnt as much anymore :(

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Now gaz, theres plenty of the ol' Trayce to go round...

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

*waits for His Omnipience to appear*

You rang?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm at work Ned. I need cheering up. How's California?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Weather's fucking great. Went down to the beach first thing in the morning and enjoyed the peace and warmth. Wrote up the IRON MAIDEN CHEF thing, then had a brilliant brunch and did some shopping and then came home to sleep in the peaceful afternoon heat listening to Flying Saucer Attack. Just got off the phone with two people I hadn't talked with in a while. Come out and visit, I tell you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

unlikely at present, sad to say. still i live in hope.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, everyone should visit, so you can be wassailed accordingly, cause you all rock etc. And also because out here you are less likely to devour me as a side dish with your koala tacos.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Thats what YOU think!

>:)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:18 (twenty-two years ago)

IN other news... OMG I am #13 in the statscock! IM EVEN AHEAD OF JIM.

What the hell!?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

so you speak the truth: there IS enough of you to go 'round!

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

hey trayce pick any day but tonight or tuesday for drinks and we're there

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:40 (twenty-two years ago)

So anything Weds-Fri is good eh? Cool by me. Hmm.. either Weds or Thursday at Pause would be good for me... actually Weds might be best as I think Nick actually has a day off work for once.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

sold

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Thats what YOU think!

>:)

WAH!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually on second thoughts Ned, you're quite right! You won't be a side dish... but DESSERT!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 01:53 (twenty-two years ago)

cos you're SOOOOOO sweet!

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I left that unsaid, but thanks for running with it gaz ;D I'm sure Ned is quaking puking in his shoes now.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 26 April 2004 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 26 April 2004 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

There are that many enthusiasts for that other topic on ILX that you could probably fit them all together like Lego and they'd be quite happy.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 26 April 2004 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

we got dissed on the minnesota thread :( some people are sick of us

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Inevitable. It's always nice to pass the time with you lot, but perhaps we could take it somewhere else?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 26 April 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

We're being dissed? Humourless fucks, first its the LOL thread and now this.

You know though I have thought about suggesting we start an actual board - would it be worth bothering? D'you think we'd all use it?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh hang on, I thought someone was genuinely having a go at us - he only said he was sick of our threads, like meh thats nothing :)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

what in fact we are doing is giving people ideas about starting successful threads based around people living in the same area as you. eventually all threads will be like "Part 6: Northern Belgium represent!". Which would be sad.

and why i think a board of our own is not a good idea...i DO post on IRE occasionally. Mybe we could just colonise that?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

These are really FAVP threads: Fancy a Virtual Pint

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:24 (twenty-two years ago)

as i am almost always drunk on them this is true

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Thing is, it didnt have to be a location-exclusiev thing anyway. Di (it was Di wasnt it?) started this because we kept rambling crap in other threads, off topic. I actually wish more non-aussies would pop their heads in and cha. I guess thats what the "this is..." threads ended up being for, which is funny because thats totally not what they started out as.

The demarcation as I see it (and feel free to disagree) is between topic threads, with proper discussion on said topic (and arguments and etc), vs general AIM style chatting.

The interesting thing is some of the people whining about this, LOL threads etc are probably people who quite happily particiapated in AIM chats with others. Now *that* used to piss me off because it is by nature exlusionary (if you werent there, you'll never know what was said). At least here, you can come to it hours later and read what was said...

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

exclusiev = exclusive
cha=chat

I am so fucking tired. Nick didnt get home from work til after 1.30am (and he started at 9am that day poor bastard), and I couldnt sleep properly til he did, and I was up again at 8, so I feel like shit now.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:42 (twenty-two years ago)

lets make the next thread title welcoming in a chat way and STILL talk aussie crap on it!!!

sorry to hear Trayce. hope tonight is better. you will need your strength for wed!

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god thats right. Weds is still happening yes? Wake up Jim! (I feel like I am in a Wiggles episode all of a sudden)

What happened to MelissaW? Has anyone met her or heard from her? I thought we were going to try anf FAP with her and isnt she in Melb this week? Or gone again already?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Play your guitar with Murray!
Play your guitar with him!

jeffs a funny looking fella isn't he? is capt feathrswrd anthony's brother?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone should tell Paul M*c to remix the Wiggles *looks at Col*

;P

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

The Wiggasociatives!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

lets start a thread called mongrels with kids and then we won't have to listen to Trayce ;P

(Trayce Col has rmxed them!)

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 01:58 (twenty-two years ago)

ah yes, the Wiggles. Playing here soon, you know.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

He has!? I fear.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

are you going Ned?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

he has! its happy hardcore style!

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I know people who are. Their children were insistent. I had to explain to them how to use Ticketmaster these days.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

It's an Itch-* and Scratch-* remix on The Wiggles Movie Album, and it's called 'Point Your Finger'. I am reliably informed that our boisterous happy hardcore remix is hated by parents the world over and makes little children cry.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god, and here I was kidding about it! That is hilariously great :D

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 02:09 (twenty-two years ago)

KOALA TACOS AND ROTTEN EMU LOINS, SHOVED DOWN DRAINS!! omgWTF!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

YUM! Garnish with ragout of ned

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey I said there were crokkodils down the drain not emus, god dammit!!! ;)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 03:19 (twenty-two years ago)

gaz all the komëit cds were gone, but i got the caretaker cd, three cds on morr, a sea scouts album and a nic dalton psychedelic joint

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought the crocs in the drains was a NYC thing, not an oz thing!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It is, but I like the idea we have ... I dont know, sea-crocs. Or huge flocks of soiled budgies.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 03:26 (twenty-two years ago)

bugger. o well. hope yours are good jim!

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i just read on the front page of the herald that rats who eat kangaroos are less likely to become obese.

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

is that a euphemism?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, jim. 'Sydney Morning Herald' is of course a euphemism for 'sh*t rag'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i dunno. i think they tested rats reactions to eating roo but they didn't put it that way.
also: you bought a what? a ?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

nic dalton psychedelic joint???

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

heheh

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

"a can-opened mind" by love and death. nic dalton does experimental psych that sounds like everything else nic dalton does

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:53 (twenty-two years ago)

amiable hooky pop then?

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

slower and less hooks but yeah

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:56 (twenty-two years ago)

perhaps also a little too self-consciously tripped out

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

if yesterday was bad today is shaping up as worse.

NEWS AT IT HAPPENS

mullygrubber (gaz), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

poor gaz :( wassup?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

nothing. the usual. if you designed a new website which contained archived and new radio programs which are supposed to be uploaded by the broadcaster would you not give anyone any training and then send out emails saying the librarians (who also haven't had any training) are experts and can help you do your job?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

most likely not.

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

plus i just had to give a reference for one of my team which means she's got another job which means...fuck, i don't wanna think about it.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

rats deserting a sinking ship?

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Gosh it sounds just like my workplace!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 01:07 (twenty-two years ago)

mine too!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry guys. bad stretch. maybe ALL workplaces are like that?

(hah col...that means there will be a job opening!!!)

make sure you take photos tonight.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Ive brought my camera, never fear ;)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

yipe

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay pictures!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Well you know, Ive been looking at the NYC FAP pics and I'm jealous - so many ILXors in one place! So much karaoke madness! So much booze! So, the least we can do is add to the mayhem, that is if anyone much shows up tonight ;) Plus, Stevie etc has demanded I drink one for all the NZers (this is not a good thing).

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

haha: how many nz'ers are there?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

These days Im not sure! Di, donna, Stevie, rainy... thats 4 drinks more than I should have as it is ;P

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Oops and Andrew. And I probably missed someone. God sorry guys.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

oops aint nz

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

yay i wanna see the melbourne pixors so that i can see all y'all mongrels in one place!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

meep

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

so how was it you drunkarsds?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

you also forgot duane

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 22:13 (twenty-two years ago)

hi ms lurex. how is the day shaping up?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

duane, tell anecdote.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

keh?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I am sooooo tired. Last night was cool, but hardly a FAP ;) Bit too quiet. O well.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

my day is shaping up good! we've had almost an ENTIRE WEEK OF SUN in dunedin, its blowing my mind! i'm revising my thesis proposal, which isn't blowing my mind.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:14 (twenty-two years ago)

mully, duane apparently has a good anecdote which he hasn't told yet. I can't remember what it was about, I just remember he still hasn't told it.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)

are there photos of duane anywhere?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

the anecdote is about kim fowley

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:21 (twenty-two years ago)

there are some here

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah it wasn't really a FAP, Tim was there but other than that it was fairly sparsely attended

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

wez da photos den Trayce?

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

(thnx jim. i had a completely diff image of him in my head for some reason)

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't think trayce took any after all that, but then i did have six beers so anything is possible

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I took like, 3 pix. One of the bar, one of Jim and Kate, and one of Jim and this guy we know off LJ who isnt an ILXor who showed up. I felt silly taking pix when hardly anyone was about. There's so few of us it makes it hard to FAP.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

so when you all coming to marrickville? there is really truly no chance i will get to melb in the next, o, 2 years.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:34 (twenty-two years ago)

prolly later in the year.. i do fancy a holiday to sydney sometime soon

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Any Kim Fowley anecdote is going to be a good anecdote, I suspect.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 28 April 2004 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

beep beep beep

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I ate too much butter chicken and spinach tofu. Eeurrghh. Also... so tired... so so tired... getting abt 5 hours a night sleep is not doing either of us much good :( Than god for weekends.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm singing with the bites tonight

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i am concerned that i'm going to cock it up royally

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

You'll be fine, you're a good singer! Why would you cock it up?

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't know the songs quite as well as i should :) i'm probably going to regret volunteering but it might be a larf. it's only for two songs.

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh ahhr think of it like karaoke ;)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, it should be done in a spirit of fun.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

and in a haze of spirits

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 02:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Speaking of spirits, writingstatic tells me that Acland Cellars has GOLDSHLAGER in stock. I want some! But at $60 a bottle.. uhh... I dunno.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:07 (twenty-two years ago)

break a leg jim!

i just played soccer for an hour and a quarter. first time since november. i scored what is called on the telly a *scorcher*

now my legs are setting hard like concrete.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

are they filling up with fluid

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:15 (twenty-two years ago)

if someone wanted me "iced" right now they would not need to make me concrete boots. they could just throw me as is into the harbour.

come to think of it they could do that anytime as i am a crap swimmer.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Did I mention I dreamed I played a whole gig with Whitehouse? I mean, it was a 45 minute set! I dreamed the whole set! They liked my input and invited me to tour UK as third member.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i have always thought of you as a third member. "colin: useful as a third member"

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm glad you think about Colins member gaz.

Oh wait.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i only have two hands Trayce

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Colin: useful, has third member

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:39 (twenty-two years ago)

"third"

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

ok. colin: (about as) useful as a third member

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

there are occasions where a third member would've been very useful to me mully. And if you cannot imagine such occasions, I feel sorry for your loved ones.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:45 (twenty-two years ago)

did those occasions involve a grandfather clock, gavin, or the trade union club col?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that a rhetorical question?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 03:56 (twenty-two years ago)

That was a rhetorical question.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:00 (twenty-two years ago)

where's ipso anyway? No offence to the rest of you losers, but this place is dead without her.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:00 (twenty-two years ago)

jim has killed her and hidden her body in his attic.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:02 (twenty-two years ago)

and where is Di? and I'm Passing Open Windows? And duane (he who tells not the Kim Fowley anecdote)?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:05 (twenty-two years ago)

What's all this about death?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:07 (twenty-two years ago)

And even Ned has been suspiciously quiet today... gaz... is that TACO stuck to your face!!!

OMG xpost haha

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:07 (twenty-two years ago)

ipso's right here.. in the attic

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:07 (twenty-two years ago)

has duane EVER been on a sheepfuckers thread? IPOW isn't antipodean. Di seems to appear very early in the morning.

i'm sorry if i am not good enough for you col.

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

ok - who threw that taco?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

FOOD FITE

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course you good enuff for me mully. It was a lovers' tiff.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

duane's only appearance: this is the thread where those flaming aussie mongrels talk to the kiwi sheepfuckers

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:11 (twenty-two years ago)

it was you Raggett wasn't it? you're the only one here who even eats those koala things!!!

*lobs curried prawn at Ned*

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:12 (twenty-two years ago)

mmmm curried prawn

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, g'day mates, Foster's and shrimps on the barbie?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Australians don't call them 'shrimps.' Hogan's a spacktard.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

we also DON'T FUCKING DRINK FOSTERS OK!!!???

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:20 (twenty-two years ago)

eff the curried prawns, I want garlic ones.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:22 (twenty-two years ago)

*throws garlic prawn at Trayce's head*

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, you just gave yourself away as a non-Australian by mentioning shrimps and Fosters. Americans also give themselves away by referring to 'outback steakhouses'.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

*chucks battered sav at cols back*

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Silly Mole, the references were totally intentional. As Autumn and Mullygrubber noted sorrowfully.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

We don't do irony or subtlety here, city boy.

Oh my god, mully, was that your second member I felt slithering down my back?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Foolish is the man who underestimates Ned's knowledge of Australian culture. Dammit, he's even heard of The Victims...

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:26 (twenty-two years ago)

*shakes up can of vb and sprays Ned*

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Alright! Let's wreck some heads!!!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Such outrageousness!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Up yaz, I love Foster's Export. 329875239857923 times better than that shit in a can people call VB.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you actually do the maths on that one, Autumn? I'm impressed.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

my asparagus piss is better than VB

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I kept it conservative so people would take me seriously. The actual factor is closer to 32987523986000, but I'm crap with fractions.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:30 (twenty-two years ago)

fosters export hahahaha

yes true jim

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

my asparagus piss is better than VB
-- the surface noise

yes true jim

-- mullygrubber

I'm shocked that you both actually know this.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not hard, when you consider the low low probability of anything being as bad as VB.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

"this is a far superior drink to meths"

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

my wife bought me beer when she went shopping this week!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:41 (twenty-two years ago)

she bought tooheys red

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:41 (twenty-two years ago)

it makes me fart

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

she will find out tonight

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Remember how we talked about that 'stopping two sentences earlier' thing?

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Why assume she doesn't like it, Autumn?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

OMG Jim you just reminded me I should see if Posh Nosh is on tonight.

SCRUBBBERS!!!!!!!

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god:

Simon is devastated after he learns of the death of his beloved tennis coach Jose Luis. So in honour of Jose Luis, Minty uses chorizo sausage to make her Spanish version of toad in the hole - Crapos en el Bujo.

Its the final too, I better not forget.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I take it Simon and Jose were very close?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Really regretting picking 'Autumn Almanac' as a username.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Why? I like it. I was about to compliment you on it. It's fittingly seasonal. And seasonally fitting.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

change it to "the ides of march"

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Mole: Yeah, but people calling me either 'Autumn' or 'Almanac' all the time is a bit odd.

At least I didn't sign up now, my username would be 'Dance of the Mad Bastards.'

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

we could call you addy?

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:05 (twenty-two years ago)

How about Auty?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Or "Spring Snot"

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, a PWEI fan, ripper Rita!

(Dear god, did I just say that?)

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I had to call myself Trayce cos the only other option would have been "you there" or "stupid goth" so you know, eh.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Addy's good, it's my name, kind of.

PWEI? Yep. This week I've gone through the entire back catalogue, including such obscure treasures as Box Frenzy.

Autumn Alman Yak (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha ripper Rita!!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Boxy Frenzy isn't obscure, ya nanahead :) God, I even have "Now for a Feast" on casette. Heh.

First live band I saw was PWEI back in 89 at the ANU bar, Some junky fell face-first into Sullivans creek and drowned while we were waiting out the front. Or was that at Jesus Jones? Its all such a blur.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

HAHA Blur, geddit? I kill me.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay PWEI!

Anyway I command all the good Australian/NZ people to go post on the thread I just started about El Diablo Robotico, cause she's cool. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw them at the Corner on the Dos Dedos tour. Literally screamed myself hoarse. Bloody fantastic.

You have Feast on tape? I have it on CD!!!omgwtflol, and the There is No Love Between Us EP on CD as well. And bucketloads of singles, including a vinyl picture disc 12" of Karmadrome, which looks fantastic.

Autumn Alman Yak (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a 10 inch ep of 92 degrees/something else, with a cardboard stencil thingy of PWEI shaped as a gun (the words that is, not Clints wang).

PWEI are grate live.

I have to go and drink free shitty booze now. My company is folding today, to be swallowed by its mighty leader company! So um... booze. Have fun y'all I'll probably be back on later as I have no life.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too! Although I'm too scared to play with the stencil in case I break it. Crabb does the vocals on that one, innit?

I've got the video collection somewhere too, goes up to Cure for Sanity from memory. Can't remember what it's called.

Autumn Alman Yak (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Have a good weekend everyone.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 30 April 2004 05:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm back ya bastards! Had a few wines at our work "merging" party, har, then got a lift home (yay) and now I'm settled down for a good night of um, drinking. Yes.

So, Adam, tell me more about your music interests, I find them interesting and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

KAAAAAATE!!!!!

col missed you ;-P

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 30 April 2004 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Wahey gaz!

Ahh PWEI memories. Many of mine are attached firmly to clubbing in Canberra when I was a wee nipper of a gal. There used to be this place called the Manhattan which was a gay bar that somehow turned into an indie/goth place. I remember hearing "Can U Dig It?" and leaping out of my seat to dance. This was back in the day where they'd play "Babys got a Gun" by RatCat and I'd be the only one dancing cos no one else knew who the were.

Then again I'd dance to "Ride on Time" or whatever, because I was a spaz.

Wait, what do I mean "was".

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 07:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Woo Jim! Hey, we'll be at the Lounge this afternoon for a friends thing, some kinda couply anniversary excuse to get pished do. If you're not doing anything you should drop by, there'll be loads of people there (warning: many of them will probably be goths, roleplayers and/or both).

Morning all! Finally I got a good nights sleep.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 30 April 2004 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

glad the night went well jim. ours was no so good.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

My flatmate met the bass player from Mi-Sex yesterday.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not so good Col?

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

warning: many of them will probably be goths, roleplayers and/or both

An Australian tribe of Teenys!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce, we only had a 2 song performance and for the first song R's mic didn't work. The whole thing was a bit of a schmozzle and we were sorta out of our element. Early in the night too, not many people. Huh. I want a good gig, it's been a bad run. Just one good gig will be fine.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry to hear it Col, thats a bummer :(

Ned: hehe! A tribe of Teenys would be cool!

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Mr. Col, all will yet be well. I have faith I do.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

If the Raggett believes, then I believe.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks too Trayce for your sympathy. Er - did anyone hear me up there? My flatmate met the bassplayer from Mi-Sex!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I know not this Mi-Sex, but I await the CDR of legend.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah yes, the CD-R of legend... many have spoken of this mythological CD but no evidence of its existence has been found... which leads me to think it may be a myth, a symbol of inner transformation, not to be taken literally but metaphorically, as a guide perhaps, to the inner quest.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Pig's Arse; The Inner Quest

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 1 May 2004 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

where is nicole's thread that ned mentioned earlier? i can't find it and i'm lazy.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 1 May 2004 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

It is here!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 1 May 2004 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i was unhappy with the vinyl transfers of the flame fortune and kids in the kitchen so i'm waiting til i get my new stylus before having another crack at it. it'll happen. one day, when you least expect it.

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 1 May 2004 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I BELIEVE!

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 1 May 2004 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 1 May 2004 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

WE WILL ASCEND

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 1 May 2004 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

UP UP. ABOVE THE SAVAGE SHAME OF OUR HERITAGE. BEYOND THE CREEPING CRINGE OF OUR WOEFUL & MISGUIDED FAITH IN THE EVIL EMPIRE. TO BECOME. TO GRASP OUR DESTINY. TO ASCEND.

mullygrubber (gaz), Saturday, 1 May 2004 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 1 May 2004 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 06:46 (twenty-two years ago)

we've counted our pennies and we can just make it to Melb if we live on toast, homemade tomato soup and vodka for the next fortnight.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Saturday, 1 May 2004 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

and this would be a change how?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 2 May 2004 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

no BLTs at cafes; no impulse record purchases; no impulse clothing purchases for R; no major grocery expeditions; no ground coffee *sob*; no taxis.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 05:44 (twenty-two years ago)

aren't you getting paid for your gigs? i'll buy you a beer when you're down here if it helps

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 05:58 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 2 May 2004 05:59 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:03 (twenty-two years ago)

we're getting a very small sum jim, based on entries, maybe around the $100-150 mark. We're doing it for fun more than money.

Well, yes, mully, exactly.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:04 (twenty-two years ago)

We've been listening to Ollie Olsen's 80's project, 'No' - 'Once We Were Scum Now We Are God' - a friend brought it round.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:05 (twenty-two years ago)

the version with the plastic sleeve?

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, the red plastic sleeve!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:11 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Fri the 14th at The Pony, jim. I can taste that beer already.

Then, gaz, we're playing Sun 16th at C*ndy's Appt with DITC & MK. I hope to see you there? Haha, it should be fun. Not sure why the young goths have taken a shine to us, but never look a gift horse in the mouth.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:17 (twenty-two years ago)

whoaaa Pones.. my favourite friday night hangout

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:20 (twenty-two years ago)

ah, jim, you're such a - ahem - 'coolsie'. Did I say it right? Is that what the kids are saying?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:21 (twenty-two years ago)

coolsie - that's me! from my chucks to my band t-shirts..

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:22 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:24 (twenty-two years ago)

(it's indie)

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a No album - "Glory for the Shit for Brains". Its not too bad. I like "where are we going", good hammering industrial stuff years before its time, I suppose.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:30 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently the title is a reference to michael hutchence

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got that one too. Good in its class. I am puzzled that Ollie recycles his lyrics so much from one band to the next.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:34 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently the title is a reference to michael hutchence

Oh really? Interesting considering they worked together later on.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:37 (twenty-two years ago)

haha i'm kidding :P

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, you fooled me too.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a bit worried about The Pony though/ It seems like a really violent place - people get their beards pulled and so forth.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:43 (twenty-two years ago)

it's only violent after 5-ish in the morning. or if you harass the bouncers

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:44 (twenty-two years ago)

but no need to worry unless you've grown a beard recently

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:44 (twenty-two years ago)

colin, yesterday

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never grown a beard, often wonder what it would look like.

I'd better warn Rachael not to beat the crap out of anyone.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Who is that guy? I want to kiss him.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:47 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I also wish I looked like this:

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 06:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 07:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Whereas in real life (ha!) I look like the second guy from the top in this picture, only with glasses on:

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 07:03 (twenty-two years ago)

haha xpost its true.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 2 May 2004 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

And here's the kind of man that Trayce might find alluring:

http://www.rbgilbert.com/images/robhalford.jpg

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 07:09 (twenty-two years ago)

He'll be at the MK gig, I suspect, only younger.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 07:10 (twenty-two years ago)

AND NAKED

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 2 May 2004 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

What's up with J*hn St*vens still on American Id*l? He's a bit flat, a bit weak... why is he still there? Puzzling.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 07:37 (twenty-two years ago)

wot, the noizewerks guy?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 2 May 2004 07:55 (twenty-two years ago)

my sweet scented, demented, jezebel!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 2 May 2004 08:03 (twenty-two years ago)

The Noiseworks guy is your sweet scented demented Jezebel? That surprises me - he'd make a pretty ugly woman.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 08:54 (twenty-two years ago)

oh don't be silly, menwomen are never ugly!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 2 May 2004 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

except for john cougar meloncamp

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 2 May 2004 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought you were all menwomen down there.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 May 2004 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

and thats why you fit right in sweetness :-P

in other news it is a new week. will the upcoming changes be for good or woe?

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 2 May 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to shake off my disappointments this week and start afresh. Time for a new birth into a new karmic cycle.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 2 May 2004 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

excellent news colin.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 2 May 2004 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Who is that bald rogue? He looks like he's not bald at all but wearing a fake baldy-wig.

I'm not a manwoman but I am a blokette.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 2 May 2004 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Trayce, that's Rob Halford from Judas Priest in his making-a-goth-industrial-album-with-Trent-Reznor phase.

Judas Priest as goths? I fear, as Ned would say.

*hands Jim a box of tissues*

I think we're gonna get DSL! WOO! (I can get a $40 a month staff discount - DSL for $20 a month, suck on that, wastrels!)

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 2 May 2004 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

i am sad and pissed off already Trayce. don't rub it in.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 2 May 2004 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw sorry :(

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 2 May 2004 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 3 May 2004 00:06 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I just got told to "sort my filthy box out". Boy it's great to be home.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Monday, 3 May 2004 00:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Erm... "filthy box", dare we ask? heh :/

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 May 2004 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

sort it!

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

So whats with the ton of idiots on the board today? I'm really easygoing with internet stuff but even my patience is stretching at the demands of the short attention span ADD kidset thats appeared. Anything more intellectual than "omgwtf haha this pic is funneh" is decried as "boring".

Oh the youth of today.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

on one thread i told her there was a thread for that kind of stuff and nominated this one. she refused.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha! Nice try.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Shes not greek. No way in hell. Maybe she lives there - MAYBE - but she reeks of greek australian teenager. I went to school with, and worked with, people exactly like her. Their little world was the WHOLE world, and if it doesnt exist to THEM, it doesnt exist at all! "Its not right because I dont agree with it"

Ugh it reminds me of Queanbeyan and makes me want to kick some heads.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

wasn't she on the previous sheepfuckers thread though? a couple of weeks ago? and seemed almost reasonable?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Breathe in, Trayce...breathe out...breathe in... now imagine all your enemies arrayed before you. Imagine youself forgiving them. Imagine that your forgiveness is accepted. Now: kick in their heads.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh. She was yeah. Reasonable maybe, bothering to get the vibe of the board and join in? Nah. Jumping into the middle of a well thought out thread like the fame one and saying crap like "wtf none of you are famous, losers" and "ok this is boring now" as soon as people actually got into discourse, thats just childish, like a 14year old complaining because she doesnt "get it".

Fine, dont get it - just dont expect US to bend it to make YOU more interested kiddo. Fuck off to LiveJournal. Raar!

Having said all that I'm enjoying dogging her round on threads and being a smartarse >:) Is that mean of me?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

you are blount to her col

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

She's col?? My god!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I am feeling a bit Blount/Alex ish today, indeed. Heh. Curmudgeonly. I like being crankylady sometimes.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought of her as a blountish aja.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 May 2004 02:09 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

My toes point at right angles to my feet, and as a consequence I can't walk.

Is that the kind of thing you want?

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I can turn my right foot around so it faces the other way. Fun fact! Its grate at parties, freaks the fuck out of drunk people. I walk in going "I BROKE MY ANKLE". Hilarity ensues.
