lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

It's hot in herre. We wear nothing.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:08 (twenty-two years ago)

And as I was telling Ned, we like American tourists.

And your money.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

But please leave your politicians at home.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

a friend of mine from high school went, your country looks cool as hell (though hot as hell, heat-wise).

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Accra has experienced something of a renaissaince though.

Take the airport. It's had its first extension in 1000 years. I was really proud, though I almost died getting my trolley down the long sloping platform between floors. It's beginning to look modern and clean. The work is still going on but it seems they plan to put a net cafe and restaurant and maybe a shop or 2 in there soon.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I read me Barima's latest mail to friends, and he talked about nightclubs and parties and merriment. A fine thing!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Then there's the houses - there are a few gated communities around and they look like suburban America. Property investment here is u&k as no doubt your friend would tell ya. I hear Shaggy's interested.

Though I probably have no chance of starting a discopunk night here, the clubbing scene is not bad at all (hi ned!).

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

as i said earlier, my dad's friend has a giant house there now. it seems like an amazing trip, even if i would have to put up with lots of "aunts."

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Aunts give me the ph3ar.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

They will happily tell you whatever's on their mind, be it women's troubles to the high use of witch doctors in families and will, whether they're your aunt or not actually, accuse you of trying to corrupt their kids.

They throw nice parties though (in that you eat and drink a lot and then get the hell out).

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i think they give him the ph3ar, too. he has yet to take up permanent residence.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanx, hstencil.

Giant houses are the thing. Property is on a roll because everyone is beginning to get paid beter, new money flows and they see they're neighbours' places and think "Biggah and bettah!"

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Swank, I say.

I wanna go there and be the dour quiet weird DJ who succeeds by default. Or not.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Amusingly, Ghana's new money is like a giant example of how money doesn't buy you class/taste/better paint jobs.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

As my friend Stripey has long noted, any episode of Cribs will demonstrate the same scenario.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh.

We should hold a Club Popular over here. I'm sick of hearing every hip hop/r'n'b/dancehall banger from last year now, in addition to shocking pop-trance euro cheese.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Being related to like, half of Accra and Kumasi each, I meet a new "relative" or three every week.
And your friend has "the ph3ar".

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevie Wonder played in my uncle's garden though. I'm petitioning James Murphy to write a song about it.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not sure if he's more aphr4id of aunts or of military goons.. he was a part of the first democratically-elected government in the 70s.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

The latter may invade your house and itimidate you. The former may invade your house and - ah, you get the picture.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

shit is crazy. he had to flee in the middle of the night in a rowboat!

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the members of the previous gov are OK for now, corruption runs rife as it is, but even the ex-Pres can be called in to be asked about a few political killings and walk out no probs after 2 hours.

I'm not saying crazy shit like that won't happen now, but you'd be OK nonetheless. E-mail me if he has a history of military-related probs.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i believe i recieved an urget email from the prime minister of ghana once

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

God knows what he wanted.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"all Africans email alike" -strongo

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

"Help us, oh mighty STRONGO!"

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, yeah, Nigeria's TWO countries over, Jess.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i get a lot of those emails! i can't be expected to keep them and the penis enlargers straight!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha "penis enlargers straight"

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

The internet is cheap if you know where to look. Too cheap.

I've been on all day and it'll cost me a little over 5 bucks.

And I'm broke.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

"99 problems but a penis ain't one."

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

is that what he meant by "this is not a ho in the sense of having a pussy"?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

"if an African's emailing I feel bad for you son"

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

EXCELSIOR!

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Alright, more tomorrow, since as Anna noted elsewhere, my brane is MELTED.

(It rained yesterday and today, so the temp's dropped about 2 degrees)

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

The only other Ghanaians I know are all called Eshun and tell me that their dad fled in the early '70s when government officials and prison inmates did their periodic Changing Rooms thing (K0dw0 tells me if you're not in charge, you're in jail. Now his dad works for Norhampton County Council or summat).

B, when are you coming back?

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 13 May 2004 08:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm back in a month, but I'm looking at another 6 months or so at the end of the sunner.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 13 May 2004 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

this thread amuses

Barima Welcome PartyFAP London pressant et clé

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 13 May 2004 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, knew you could be relied on.

Anyways, I'll think up more considered and helpful info, but the idea right now re: politics is to chase down members of the previous ov who were actually linked to past atrocities. But as I said, there's the corruption to deal with.

It's more fun and easier to bust million dollar drug rings (January) and dollar forgeries (Monday).

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 13 May 2004 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

PS - I'd like to meet K0dw0 E3hun one day - he sounds cool.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 13 May 2004 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

You shall go to the ball, Cinderella - we've been pals for over 10 years so I don't think arranging that will be a prob. Anyone so vouched for by Matt and Steve cool by me.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 13 May 2004 09:36 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
Super belated thanks to Suzy!

This has been a messed up last couple of weeks tho.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I got mild malaria, the flu and workout-induced aches and pains all at the same time. But I got a week and a half's leave from work, most of which I either spent on ILX or in bed like a weak and tiny kitten.

Also, a few of my friends and cousins have travelled to the US for the summer. I am getting a little lonely.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

The highlight. On Ronan's 'Rumours about hook-ups thread', I said:

NB's sort of right, one of my crushes and I were spotted holding hands at a party on Sunday, and this aunt goes, "So when did you two become lovers?"
My reply was "Just now."

-- Barima (barima_...),

And someone took a photograph, only it turned out that this someone worked for OVATION, the local "high society" rag and the photo shows up IN PRINT and I was referred to as her PARTNER.

Accra is like a city with a small town's sense of community. SO EVERYBODY SAW IT. Especially the weirdos I work with, who haven't shut up about it for, like, a month. THEN, I heard she's supposedly having an affair with a married man, which officially makes me "The Decoy".

She hasn't returned my calls either.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

But last night is the most compelling reason for me to get the most expensive therapy known to man.

We've just had a bereavement, and the family are all getting together at one of my aunt's homes as you do. I'm chatting with her daughter's husband and he's holding his baby son, my nephew, as we talk. And then, the kid starts licking his face, so what does he do?

HE TONGUES HIS SON WHILE SITTING NOT MORE THAN 2 FEET AWAY FROM ME. THE MAN MAKES OUT WITH HIS ONE YEAR OLD CHILD. I COULDN'T SLEEP PROPERLY LAST NIGHT BECAUSE I CAN'T GET THE MOST FUCKED UP IMAGE I HAVE SEEN IN MY 22 YEARS OUT OF MY HEAD.

My life is slowly turning into an Augusten Burroughs memoir.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

So, Lauren, still wanna come over or have I put you off for life yet?

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe you should just photoshop me into a picture of you and then introduce me as your catamite, and then everyone will leave you alone.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Barima Bateman says:
I saw the grossest thing EVER last night

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, that would make you the boy, and quite frankly, I think catamites are the last thing I should be reminded of.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Another dream deferred.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, given the heavy (and not unreasonable) focus on AIDS and Christianity here, I don't think me and you "gaying up" would make my stay any more bearable.

Not that my stay's unbearable or anything, but I don't think Ghana's ready for Nedloving.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Now you do bring a good and serious point to it all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

True, Ned. Every time I admit I haven't been to church in 5 months, the looks I receive make me feel like I just widened the hole in the ozone layer.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

In all this, I've missed out celebrating a successful job interview that went down on Tuesday. If I wasn't turning into a shut-in, I'd've partied hard on Friday!

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Sunday, 6 June 2004 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Bits of this thread are fantastic. Especially the big-up from Suzy, which I hadn't seen before.

When are you coming back to London, B?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 6 June 2004 21:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I've won my freedom for a couple of weeks at the end of the month, but then I have a big funeral to be back for in early July and afterwards, I guess I'll continue 9-5'ing til I can get another break :_(.

Barima, Monday, 7 June 2004 08:47 (twenty-two years ago)

And I'm still bowled over that you and Steve bigged me up with much enthusiasm - in absentia, no less. Thanx, but you'll regret it when I'm back and you remember what I'm really like ;-).

Crazy Man (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Barima, that story about your nephew just may possibly be the creepiest and most bizarre thing I've read on ile.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 7 June 2004 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

B, why do you have to stay in Ghana now anyway?

suzy (suzy), Monday, 7 June 2004 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Wellllll, it seemed like a good idea at the time. Basically, I couldn't quite hack it on the London job market straight after uni (ie, I hadn't come back from Manchester, gotten a high powered City job and moved out of Mum's by August last year; instead I was temping and spending too much time out late) and the parents decided I was better off coming here, learning more about the country and my family (it's all about the roots), getting business experience and taking a gap year as I didn't take one before uni. It's also supposed to kill time until I get my act together for an MBA or law degree.

Nicole, I'm really sorry.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Ghana is cool, but I do find it tough going, having left my entire life behind in London (and partly in Manchester) and having to work with mentalists on a daily basis. If I wasn't spending more time with my dad in 6 months than I have in the past 3 years (he permanently works here), a lot of it would have done me in. Plus, Dad is pretty well connected (an absolute advantage/Godsend).

I watched Tom Hanks in Cast Awy last night but not even the satisfaction of seeing him have his life messed up helps with the horror of Saturday night.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

You have ILX and we're here for you. Heh heh heh.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

PH3AR

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

My God, Ghana is just like those uncomfortable movies about suburban life by depressed Scandinavian directors.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Only with gigantic bags of money.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Barima's presence is explained!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit, I'm basically writing the synopsis for my first or second novel just by waking up and leaving my bedroom (DanNed otm).

Dan, still want to come over and rule?

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Re: money. I have a feeling if I hedge a few bets here and learn to respond to Ghana's current "foreign investors, GET IT HERE" stance, I may get to stack the cash yet.

In the meantime, I'm gonna practice how to think like a depressed Scandinavian director.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm basically writing the synopsis for my first or second novel just by waking up and leaving my bedroom

Haha! That was helpful for my first novel as well -- the buslines around here in particular are a thing of joy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Accra is like a city with a small town's sense of community.

definitely the impression that i've gotten from my dad's pal. i wouldn't be surprised if your family knows him.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, tell me who he is already!

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

y4kubu s44k4

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Thx, I'll look into it. The surname is v. familiar.

Erm, have I actually been of any use?

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

of course!

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 7 June 2004 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Awwwwwwl-right.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

holla.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

That reminds me, they screened Thirteen on TV the other night and the line "Nicole, can I holla at you?" had me in hysterics. Yo, El Diablo...

As long as TV3 remembers to screen it, their Thursday night movies are usually well chosen (plus they play DVDs, so the quality is decent). But make sure Mr S44k4 has satellite, it makes life better.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Nicole, I'm really sorry.

I meant it as a compliment!

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 7 June 2004 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Nicole is the Detroit correspondent for Sick Sad World.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

In the meantime, I'm gonna practice how to think like a depressed Scandinavian director.

It takes practice? I'd thought it was a trait you were born with,

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not Scandinavian.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark that as a general question, not you, specifically.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, OK. So, um, can I holla at you?

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not, everyone else hollas at me or insults me.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Two hollas in one!

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

nicole: holla!

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope none of these insults have been on ILX (unless you've talked to C-Man, that would explain a lot). As a poster, I rate you highly.

x-post - time for a "Holla at the Nic(h)oles Thread"

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

NOOOOO! Please, I beg of you.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 7 June 2004 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahhh, begging always thaws my cold and evil heart...

Megalomaniac Barms (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I wanna make you holler
(Come on, yeah yeah, wanna see you holler)
Imagine us together
(Wanna see you holler, darkchild, darkchild, come on)
Don't be afraid to play my game
(Let's go)

Boy don't you hesitate
I won't keep waiting for you
To come and let me take
You to my fantasy room
You're gonna like it there
And all the things that I do
I'll treat you right all through the night

We can do anything
I'll take you all the places you wanna be
(I'll take you there, I'll take you there)
I'll be your fantasy
Everything you want you will find in me
If you play my game, yeah

I wanna make you holler
And hear you scream my name (scream my name)
I'll give you rules to follow (oh)
So you can play my game (play my game)
Imagine us together (together)
Me driving you insane (driving you insane, yeah)
You will give into me (into me)
Don't be afraid to play my game (just play my game)

So what you gonna do
Now that I've got you with me
You've gotta show me boy
'Cause nothing comes for free
Start from the bottom and
Work your way absolutely
Don't be afraid to play my game

We can go all night long
Doing things you thought you would never do
(And I won't tell no lie)
I won't tell anyone
What we do, it's just for me and you
So come and play my game

I wanna make you holler
And hear you scream my name
(Scream my name, yeah-yeah)
I'll give you rules to follow
So you can play my game (you can play my game)
Imagine us together (imagine us)
Me driving you insane (driving you insane)
You will give into me (into me, yeah)
Don't be afraid to play my game

I wanna make you holler (holler holler)
And hear you scream my name (make you scream my name)
I'll give you rules to follow (follow follow)
So you can play my game (you can play my game)
Imagine us together (imagine us)
Me driving you insane (oh yeah)
Don't be afraid to play my game

I wanna make you holler
(Holler, holler, holler, holler, holler, come on)
(Holler, holler, holler, holler, come on, come on)
I wanna make you holler ah-ah-ah-oller
(Holler, holler, holler, holler, holler, come on)
(Holler, holler, holler, holler, come, on, come on)
I wanna make you holler
(Holler, holler, holler, holler, holler, come on)
(Holler, holler, holler, holler, come on, come on)
I wanna make you holler ah-ah-ah-oller
(Holler, holler, holler, holler, come on, come on)
(Let me see you holler, darkchild, come on)

We can go all night long
Doing things you thought you would never do
(And I won't tell them)
I won't tell anyone
Cause everything is just between me and you
But you gotta play my game, yeah

I wanna make you holler (all night)
And hear you scream my name (all night long)
I'll give you rules to follow (follow me)
So you can play my game (you can play my game)
Imagine us together
Me driving you insane (me driving you insane)
You will give into me (give into me)
Don't be afraid to play my game

I wanna make you holler
And hear you scream my name
I'll give you rules to follow
So you can play my game
Imagine us together
Me driving you insane
You will give into me
Don't be afraid to play my game

I wanna make you holler
I'll give you rules to follow
(Wanna see you holler)
Imagine us together
(Spice Girls)
You will give into me

EVERYBODY SING ALONG!!!! (WARNING: Link contains craptastic MIDI.)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Did I mention Dan is the ILXor I most want to talk shit with? Bonus if he brings his alien symbiote, "Ned", with him.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

BTW, if anyone wants to knife multiple hobos, please come to Ghana! You won't get caught - EVER!

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I had been wondering where I should vacation...

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Last week, a guy actually FOLLOWED me for a whole minute to beg for money for him and "his wife". Dude didn't even look like a hobo and there was no wife. And he watched me come out of my office and walked past 5 of my workmates specifically to stalk me.

In fact, this happened 3 times last week.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

x-post - time for a "Holla at the Nic(h)oles Thread"

Holla on, Barima. Knew my thick hide was handy for summat.

In fact, this happened 3 times last week.

Last WEEK? My, that must have made you feel special....

The Hobo Magnet (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Stay away from my holes.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 7 June 2004 20:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Bonus if he brings his alien symbiote, "Ned", with him.

I have to talk with Grand Overlord Tharg first, he's an annoying one.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 June 2004 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Stay away from my holes.

Eww. Done.

UltraHobomagnetic MC (Barima), Monday, 7 June 2004 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I have excellent jetlag.

I am not a mandible (Barima), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it most excellent or just sorta excellent?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

It's most excellent you should try it it's a trip peep the lights and the pretty colours.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

London looks niiiiiice I can't believe I'm back I missed it all so much I am so fucked up I'm seeing some shit.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME BUT I CAN ONLY STAY FOR 2 WEEKS

(BTW, glad you finally posted, Ronan, I was lamenting that a couple of my top-10-15 ILXors hadn't posted on this, since most of the rest of them have)

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been on an ILX sabbatical and I'm too lazytired to go to Club FT, though I guess I did tell Stevem when I sent a groupmail last week.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

This place (ILX) has certainly gone on the pipe since last week tho'.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, it's gone past midday and I think I'm de-jetlagged now. What should I do today?

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Thursday, 1 July 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

welcome home, i have completely forgotten that e-mail :(

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 1 July 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

tonight you should pop down to Asylum on Rathbone Corner where i will hopefully be DJING (uh...like y'know, switching between two CDs every few minutes yet giving the illusion i'm concocting a six deck mixological epic) for a bit. and i'll be at the One Tun on Goodge St from 7 hopefully.

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 1 July 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds good! Knackered my phone however if you still have the number, but I'll work something out. Haven't been to the One Tun in ages.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Thursday, 1 July 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Call a FAP, Barima! a) you are back after a period away, and b) we need more fapping to make up for the lack of ILX. You'll have to email people, obv.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 July 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Next week is good, Martin, shall I call it now or start saving all your addresses?

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Thursday, 1 July 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't made it to meet Steve, I've had to see off frinds who are off to the US in the morning, lucky sods. I don't know if he'll see this, but I'll call tomorrow now that the mobile's working again.

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Thursday, 1 July 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever, Barima. Let a few know and tell them to spread the news, will work.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 July 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, you and Steve know, that's a start, I'll maybe Gmail Matt and William (The) Bloody to get things rolling, here's hoping. My return has been badly timed - too many friends off travelling and ILX going down - how do I do it?

R.I.M.A. (Barima), Thursday, 1 July 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

We know there will be a FAP, but we are a bit short on details! Just note a few emails, and we will spread any info you give us.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 July 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Barima, have a rockin' time! The London massive know how to throw a FAP---and that's before the tabledancing and late night matches of Naked Darts.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 1 July 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

He has been to at least one before. Neither of those things were involved, as far as I am aware.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 July 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Skidders, I wasn't being serious;>

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 1 July 2004 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
One of my co-workers is from Ghana. His name is Confidence. He hasn't been back since he came here (alone) for school (college) 3 years ago. He might go back this Christmas. He has a friend named Peace. Also, DC United's 16-yr-old wonder/non-wonder is Ghanaise/Ghanian? Tell me more about Ghana. Confidence says that the the weather in Ghana is like an eternal spring and that there are no sick people there. People live to a strong, healthy old age. Reading a children's book on Ghana, I learned that this country used to be called the Gold Coast and is majority Christian. Tell me more about this veritable wonderland. Conifdence debates the merits of Ghana's soccer team on a polite and erudite message board and recalls playing barefoot with a home-made ball.
