Ooh, xfce. Looks nice - although some of the icons look like they're the Red Hat bluecurve ones, which I'm not really a fan of.

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 16 May 2004 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Caitlin, yea XFCE has that as one of the icon themes. You can change all the icons at once!

Yeaaaa, I might end up moving back to gnome with the new version just because it Just Works. We'll see. I haven't used a file browser for ages....

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 17 September 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I am very proud to share with you a desktop I can actually be really proud of -- it's a marked improvement from the last desktop I had, absolutely.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 17 September 2004 06:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Dee, when is that last desktop from?? "Setup the Microsoft Network" = win95?!?!?

Free the Bee (ex machina), Friday, 17 September 2004 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

It was actually from a machine that did indeed originally come with Win95 back in 1997 but was upgraded to Win98 sometime in 1999. I was just really lazy with deleting shortcut icons from the desktop. Note the "Online Services" folder -- years after I had any need for such a thing. (I remember the list of ISPs offered as including long since defunct ISPs Webway, Mindspring, and Sprynet. Just to give you an idea of how outdated this thing was.)

It's Windows XP, made up in a Tiger costume. It's not purely vain -- there's a dock, too (that doesn't show up in a screenshot for some reason), and the whole package kinda eases the transistion between work and home for me (I have a Mac at work). And besides, it's pretty.

ssX is beautiful! Thanks!

Only issue I have with it -- and this is a minor thing, for sure -- is that the icon is ass-ugly. What is that, a snowman Shriner?

Yes mookie but none of them are Ethiopian, and only one of them is a scan of a card sent to the college I once attended, entered into the library archive I once worked in, and stamped as such on a date very close to my birthday, 1942.
