Just wondering : Who / Volume / Heat rating (irate/medium/cool)

My pretty short list:

C-man/Calum - a few times, all OK ones
J0hn D3rnelle - cool dude
M.Marchant - a variety of mood pieces
The River Fleet/ateK - cool
Someone who wanted songwords for a Janine song??
Someone with a Ted Chippington reference
others.

That's it. (volume = low, up to 4)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

a half dozen regulars and a handful of googlers. almost all were worth receiving.

the surface noise and the analogue warmth (electricsound), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I think three ILX0rs have emailed me, but I'll only name Carmody -- at that point I had no idea he was my age. He's a righteous dude.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

CJ the Unruly, Marcello, Jellybean, Carsmile Steve, Madchen, Liz :x, Johnney B, The River Fleet, Archel, Baaderoni, Stevem, Charlie No. 4.

can't think of anymore offhand.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I've emailed you.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)

(who, me?)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

yes you have Melissa, sorry.

Did I reply?

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

A couple of people emailed me about my copy of "World of Echo" by Arthur Russell - before all his stuff came out on CD.

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

now you must actually post the e-mails

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

just a few regulars

...strangely enough i get more ilxors randomly contacting me via AIM.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Nordiskillz sent me a nice mail when I got fed up with my job.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

some of my favourite ilx-related emails are from lurkers. especially the ones from bands i've commented on. props to the ever-lovely fortdax.

the surface noise and the analogue warmth (electricsound), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Martin Skidmore, MarkH, cozen, Liz, Markelby, Marcello, Tim Hopkins, Pink Panther, ken c, Tom Ewing, Jerry the Nipper, Alan T, mark s, Carsmile, robster, Gregory Henry ... possibly others. A couple of non-regulars wondering if I am related to them (when my surname was still visible). No flames though.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

martin, marcello, tom e, JtN, PF, mark s, archel, RJG, N., jess, frank k, melissa, &c.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Several for business (i.e. Stylus) reasons, plus Ned, Tom, Marcello, Melissa, Keith, Kate, and probably a few other over the years. YEARS.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Dirty Vicar once emailed me to ask if i was a historian.
i replied. i'm nice, me.

that's my ilx email history in full.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i've gotten the occasional email from the doomster over the years. i can't deny that i have a soft spot for the guy

the surface noise and the analogue warmth (electricsound), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yes, Dirty Vicar has emailed me too.

He didn't ask me if I was a historian.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm thinking about emailing dog latin but i dunno what to say.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

does this has to be as a result of clicking your email on the ilx page? or just emailing in general?

i guess most ilx0rs who were from sinister have emailed me before.. via sinister.

there was one random googler who emailed me thinking i was really actually john cena. because john cena has email addresses like pyka chu 100 at hot mail dot com, obv

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

you're not john cena.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

and i'm not a historian. what's your point?

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

this is not a library

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Funny how we can be all righteous about privacy on the gmail thread but here we're happy to announce the emailing habits of others.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

righteous? who?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

It's hardly an invasion of privacy is it? Maybe it would be if we divulged the content of the emails.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not righteous or a historian. nor have i read the Gmail thread. what's YOUR point?

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

who's getting righteous? where? in private emails? show us!

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not a freemdoom

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

ian johnson once wanted to email me a picture of his gf's gaping anal.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i hear Ferris Bueller is a righteous dude.
The sportos and motor heads, geeks, sluts, bloods, waistoids, dweebies, dickheads... they all adore him.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Les jeux sont faits. Translation: your ass is mine.

ENRQ (Enrique), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

go on g-kit! I like emails - I don't know what anyone on ILX would want to say to me either though.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm selling this thread to the advertising companies.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm gonna sell all the email addresses to Bubs for his weekly Spamvertisements.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevem, Gareth, Anna, Toby, Felicity, Colette, Famous Interweb Journalist Tom Ewing, Pete, Mark C, Carsmile Steve, Tim H, Chris, Vicky, Martin, Starry, Alix, Nick K, Marianna L, Liz x:, Ken C, Cis, Tracer Hand, Charlie No.4, Nick Southall, @d@ml, Penelope_111, Emma, Alan, a few random lurkers, probably a few more that I'm forgetting.

Most of these are of the "I'm thirsty, lets go to the pub" variety. I wish I had some sort of sinister behind-the-scenes emailing history but sadly not.

This is a bit like a geekier version of the Super Wang thread, isn't it?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

offhand, stevem, matt I think, anna, chris, jonnie, tom, nick southall, nick dastoor (only during his EMAIL ME "project"), jess, ethan I think, tim h, lara, dv, tracer, tim f, etienne from ilm, anthony.

Maybe some more.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh Gareth of course.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, Tom Ewing, obv. (Focus Group X? whereisit?)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

N. has emailed me (during the "project" Matt DC describes). And ken c. Funny how it's taking other ppl's posts to remind me of the full extent of my own list.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry I called Ronan MDC there.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't remember e-mailing you mark h, what was it regarding?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

A small number. I'm not going to list them because my memory is horrible and I will feel bad if I forget someone.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Crikey: Um, Toby, Suzy, Ed, MDC, Gareth, Vicky, Chris, Dastoor, Ronan,TEwing, Pete, Emma, Stevem,Kate, Colette, Liz, Cis, Ally, Nabisco,Felicity, Mary, Mark C, SGS, Mark S, Skidmore, Ned, Lixi, Sarah, Nickalicious, Tracer, Dave Q, Doomie,K-Reg and Charlie4 (for work), RJG and Ally C(round email about a party in Glasgow)and three random googlers, one being pervy about pencil skirts, one asking if I knew who photographed Brody Dalle on the cover of The Face and one from someone very young asking about the time my friend Suzy interviewed S Club 8.

To Arran W and Alex in Yorkshire (to whom I didn't reply, I'm really sorry guys. In Mr W's case I wrote a message, the computer ate it, I thought I'd do it again at a later date and ... didn't. In the case of Alex I spent about two or three hours writing out reams of the information you requested, then my computer basically blew up and I just couldn't face doing it again.)

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

And me, saying "you should go to New York, it can be cheap!" and quoting a figure which turned out to be in excess of your rent that month.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and a sweet email from Andrew Farrell asking if I was okay after moaning about being grumpy and broke, and Dave Stelfox and JtN.

x-post.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Marcello and I correspond. Not as much as before, but we still blabber on about our lives and recs/books/films. :-)

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

dog latin must be feeling the shame. i emailed him, but will he admit it? nooooooooo.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Stevem, you emailed me the URL of the pics Gareth took at and after the Swimmer quiz just before Christmas last year.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I forgot Ronan and Dave B. I've also had a number of random emails from lurkers, which appear to be divided evenly between "hey, do you have Heini Koivuniemi's email and phone number She is so hot and I would like to meet her, and "go on, tell the Chinese Train story!"

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i've just remembered Farrell owes me money

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Cash money. And Tome Wing. And Lixi. Bah.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

A googler e-mailed me to bitch me out about something. We haven't spoken since :(

mandee, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Raggett, Mannion, Swygart, Ewing. And only for important reasons.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, jel, Mark S, Kate, Frank K, Chaki.
...might be forgetting someone.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Not many apart from the old alt.music.alternative crew. I'm a lone wolf, baby.

There have been a few who have e-mailed me that I've been too lazy to respond to -- in particular, Steve Kiviat re: Swellsville, which I feel real bad about.

I suspect that maybe my lack of e-mails may have something to do with AOL, since I KNOW they drop the ball on e-mails sent to and from me on a regular basis.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan Perry and I, being longtime friends, swap emails at least three times a week but make it a deal not to talk ILX. We tend to chat about how each other's family are doing, current affairs and Dan's studies. Now and again Dan sends me a picture of some girl he likes, and I have to convince him to ask her out for a drink. That can be fun.

C-Man (C-Man), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

This girl thought I was Leonard Cohen and sent me her poetry once. Otherwise Ned, Andrew, Mandee I think maybe, someone else. N.

Madame Planchette (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

this thread violates my privacy.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

blame yourself

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Calum, I know you're no Robert Downey Jr or anything, but I suspect that the drugs are having an adverse effect; you might want to waddell (sp?) over to rehab.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

all the people who've emailed me have found out how incredibly uninteresting i am as a person and have ceased communicating wiht me.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

dammit Dan I had like twenty really funny responses but then I thought "naw Dan's always all 'dnftt' an' shit, so lat be already" and now my timing is screwed

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

:-( Sorry.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i still wanna hear the 20 responses

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too!

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I e-mailed Madame Planchette? How curious!

mandee, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Now and again Dan sends me a picture of some girl he likes, and I have to convince him to ask her out for a drink

I don't know, Calum, when Dan sends me pics of my own mom I'm less than thrilled about the implications, but maybe we see different sides of Dan

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Calum, to himself, at night: "Calum...Waddell...Perry" [sighs, drifts off to sleep]

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

PERCHANCE TO DREAM

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe add italic to the "my" in "my own mom" to make matters more clear

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

oh wait we're not supposed to use Calum's real last name any more isn't that right, or else the thronging multitudes of people who give two shits about what he's up to might find him here and start asking for autographs

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

this is the remix to ignition

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I think you did Mandee, but maybe not.

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

"J0hn, isn't this rather a waste of time?"
"Yeah, but I don't feel like practicing my scales right now"

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha ha omg john!!!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

And so, another ILXer goes and posts direct to Excelsior. And is right to.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, except this isn't Excelsior, is it... *tiptoes away*

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I cannot believe you'd find any of that funny because it just is not. Usually replies to my sarcy posts have me in stitches (personal fave - the guy who once posted a pic of a bloke smiling and giving the 'thumbs up' with the slogan underneath: "congratulations, you're a douchebag" - that had me in hysterics for most of the day), but this is just weak. The humour on here is not evolving.

C-Man (C-Man), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

PWN3D

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

take it on the chin, old boy.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

J0hn, you are the Collossal Man on fire. Calum, you're Dopey from Snow White.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Calum: "How dare J0hn Darn1elle make fun of our relationship?? Tell him to stop Danny! I can't think of anything wittier than calling his humour 'weak' and if he doesn't stop I'm going to have to cry! Help me Danny! I need you!"

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

now i have adaml and g-kit under my "list of people who have emailed me" belt :-)

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

recognise!

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

This went on until [email protected] got really pissed off and signed up C-Man's e-mail address to around 200 porn websites and spam-mail.

Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty (Barima), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Here's mine: Josh K, Amateur!st, Geeta, Tom Ewing, AdamL, Oops, NA, Sarah McLusky, Todd Swiss, Sarah Pedal, Kenan Hebert, Matos W.K., Nate in ST.P., Ned Raggett, C-Man, Nabisco (? -- can't remember)

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I cannot believe you'd find any of that funny because it just is not.

Aw, snookums. Need your blanky?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

He is Stan.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

His passion is deathless.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

If I was Ned I'd invest in lyposuction and a hair cut, cos he's a Miles Hunt fat twunt. And the number 1 poster on this forum = "I have no life". Haha!

C-Man (C-Man), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

"If only he'd call me!"

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

The humour on here is not evolving.

What?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I didn't know that you were you, Andrew. Yeah, I think I've e-mailed you. I miss you. I should e-mail you again.

mandee, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

You can play mad libs with C-Man's posts, you realize. Because that way you can finally add variety to the insults!

"If I was (PERSON) I'd invest in (NOUN) and a (NOUN), cos he's a (MUSICIAN, NON BRITPOP) (ADJECTIVE) (NOUN). And the number 1 (NOUN) on this (NOUN) = "(GENERIC INSULT)". Haha!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

The work of Calum Robert Waddell, esq. Oh yes.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

We tend to chat about how each other's family are doing, current affairs and Dan's studies.

IM chatlog:
m3talm1ckey: So how're your studies going Dan?
djperry: I'm not a student, I work here
m3talm1ckey: It must be tough being a student at Harvard!
djperry: I'm not a student, I work here
m3talm1ckey: I wonder if I could have even gotten in! all your friends must be proud, I know I am
djperry: I'm not a student, I work here
m3talm1ckey: I didn't get to see Boston when I came to the states though I wanted to! now I wish I had, you know when I went to L.A. Ned wouldn't even meet me for a drink, I would have paid for his drink, too, what a fat old cunt he is and a hippie besides, you'd think he'd understand I'm only taking the piss but nooooo, it's "this thread has been locked" this and "moderator forum" that, I swear he has no sense of humor excuse me that's humour innit, can you believe he runs the Suede mailing list what a lucky old fat cunt he is
djperry has left the chat by logging off.

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww, thanks M! I miss you too, I should go on AIM more and yeah go ahead and email me. I should change my name back anyway.

Madame Planchette (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

If I was g-kit I'd invest in hair grips and a spacehopper, cos he's a Britney Spears daft bastard. And the number 1 kit on this bitch = "wanker". Haha!

did i do good?

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a fuck of a lot funnier than everything he's been saying, so yes!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i may actually get that spacehopper.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I have been emailed by Ken C, Tracer Hand, and some guy who really nicely sent me the Streets track I was missing. Oh, and a nice Knoxvillian semi-lurker whose name I can't recall.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I did finally get around to practicing my scales by the way, if we can take "practicing one's scales" in the rather liberal sense of "playing an A minor scale two octaves ascending & descending for about five minutes"

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Look, here's the thing. LA is a place where, more than any other place I've been, there is a lot of shallowness. In this sense, I FEEL SORRY for Ned. It's clear from the amount of time he spends on here that he *wants* to be out in Sunset Strip doing cool stuff, but instead he's stuck on here bitching about me. It's a shame. But listen Ned, I still get invites to various places. I got one this morning in fact - to The Viper Room (it's surprisingly small BTW). I'm forwarding it to some LA friends and perhaps you would like to go? Seriously, it would do you good to get out and have fun. Just cut your hair, jog a few miles and make an effort eh? Let's see if we can get you a life so you won't have to be on here all the time slagging me off while your wee online mates giggle like schoolgirls behind their computers. I'm reaching out Ned. I'm here to help.

C-Man (C-Man), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

"Please? Please? Please? I'm dying to meet you, I've even bought this rare Suede 12-inch single, just for you Ned!"

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

As I said:

"Let's see if we can get you a life so you won't have to be on here all the time slagging me off while your wee online mates giggle like schoolgirls behind their computers".

C-Man (C-Man), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, I am against things like what's happening in this thread and it's a bad idea and doesn't really help the board at all ect ect, but this is really cracking me up.Calum Robert Waddell

Oh, I forgot that me and David Beckhouse had an email correspondence about a year ago, too. He's from Denver and I thought, like, he might want to arrange a FAP. Never ended up arranging one, tho.

mandee, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it's the fact that there are about eight million threads where I say things like, with reference to last Saturday, "Hey, we're all MEETING UP TONIGHT somewhere IN LOS ANGELES to SEE DIZZEE RASCAL AND THE STREETS and HAVE SOME FOOD AND MARGARITAS beforehand" that makes it all so bizarre. Emphasis added to help the blind.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ned is right this is fun!

Look, here's the thing. LAEdinburgh is a place where, more than any other place I've been, there is a lot of shallownesshyprocrisy. In this sense, I FEEL SORRY for NedCalum. It's clear from the amount of time he spends on here that he *wants* to be out in Sunset StripPrinces Street doing cool stuffcute chicks, but instead he's stuck on here bitching about mepeople who don't like him. It's a shame. But listen NedCalumn, I still get invites topenetrated in various places. I got one this morning in fact - to The Viper Roomanus (it's surprisingly small BTW). I'm forwardingwebcasting it to some LAimaginary friends and perhaps you would like to gowatch? Seriously, it would do you good to get outget it out and have funa wank. Just cutwash your hairhands, jogjerk a few milestimes and make an effortsplash eh? Let's see if we can get you a lifejazz mag so you won't have to be on here all the time slagging me off while your wee online matespenis giggleshrivel like schoolgirlsgrannies behind their computersDDR machines. I'm reaching out NedCalum. I'm here to help.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Calum recently has been making me think of this episode of Freaks & Geeks. You see, there's this character named Alan who is a bully and always beats up on the geeks (not to say people on ILX are geeks). In this particular episode, Alan puts peanuts in Bill's sandwich to see if Bill is really allergic to peanuts, as he says he is. Bill ends up being rushed to the hospital and is in a coma. Alan's dad makes him got to the hospital to apologize. Alan is left alone in the room with Bill in the coma, and breaks down, saying that the reason he's so mean to the geeks is that they never let him hang out with them, and that he likes sci fi and comic books too. Of course it turns out that Bill, despite being in the coma, can hear what Alan is saying, and when he wakes up, he invites Alan to go the sci fi convention with them. Alan waffles and doesn't say whether he will or not. At the end of the episode, the geeks are outside, waiting to go to the sci fi convention, all dressed up in their Yoda costumes and shit, and you see Alan watching them from behind a tree, trying to decide whether to join them. Finally, he says, "I can't do this" and rides off down the street on his bike.

The occasional flecks of personality that slip through actually show that Calum could be a perfectly fine if idiosyncratic poster here if he wants to. But instead he chose to be an abusive fuckup who wants to waste his time in the guise of wasting ours (he certainly can't believe the eternal 'fat Miles Hunt cunt' autoinsult bugs me; why he clings to it is his worry rather than mine). Oh well.

So far only one ILXor has e-mailed me. I was quite shocked that anyone knew who I was on this board.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmm, looking through my folders, and obviously leaving out mod group mails, I have had emails from: Calum (loads, all whining obviously), Andrew L, Mark S, Charlie, Matt DC, Luna, Liz, Rob, Ken, Pete, Anthony E, jel, Archel, Colette, The Pinefox, Dave Boyle, Donut Bitch, Sam in Texas, Carsmile, Dirty Vicar, CJ, Leee, Dee, Donna, Ed, Duane, Marcello, Ailsa, Ned, Julia, Tim H, Jerry the Nipper, Andrew Farrell, Teeny, Tom E, Cozen, Kate, Tracer, Toby, Cabbage, RickyT, j0e, Frank Kogan, Andrew our host, Carey, Sean C, Matt Maxwell, Nichole, Felicity, Ally, MsLaura, Colin Meeder, Conner (!), Mary, Anna, Alan, Dr C, Gareth, Mike Bott, William Dods, Julio, Ronan, Noodles, Jody Beth, Dan, N, Sterling, Mark P, DG and a few others who don't seem to be around any more and who I don't really much remember. I expect I've mislaid and forgotten some too - I don't keep everything. This may sound like a joke, but it isn't: I don't feel I get enough email from ILXers and would welcome more.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd just like to say that, when Calz threatened to sue me when he thought I was the owner of the board, HE NEVER CALLED OR WROTE. Not even to apologize or invite me to the Viper Room for a Budvar.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I've no doubt the whining messages Martin refers to above have their own entertainment value.

I email my mom a lot.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i once emailed someone to apologize and try to end some somewhat nasty exchanges taking place on ilx, hoping we could mend things offboard so the rest of ilx wouldn't have to suffer through our catfight. this backfired when the poster began to make fun of me, on board, for having apologized to him. classy.
