Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Di!!!! I was gonna go to bed but then came on ILX to find this very thread of yours...but then got distracted by another thread!! For shame,..but YES i'm happy you started this...

...and am counting down the days to when we ride down the Strip liistening to Donna Summer's "Sunset People" at full volume!!

=)

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Di! you should try and get yourself invited to The Viper Room (it's surprisingly small, though)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think he wears his hat anymore.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll find him and MAKE him wear the hat!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Or you could maybe get him to just give it to Di if he isn't using it or anything and then you could have a jam or ask him to reform the Snakepit or something

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

ROXX

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha SHIT my sister's going to be in LA around this time I think! Di do you like Johnny Depp?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

if i can't steal the hat, i'll just steal a les paul instead. mark i can't make it to london, the money only goes so far. i like johnny depp okay, is he yr sister andrew?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

But Di, you've seen how much money a topless lad in the antipodes manages to get together for hookers, drugz and a shiny new lightbox - have you considered the paypal alley yourself?

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

are you calling me a hooker?

The Lady Ms Pretty Woman (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

is mark offering to paypal di to london?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I'd xposted that after Di's, sort of. Sort of not, too. Di my sister wants to track JD down at the Viper Room, I think.

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha she should get in touch with daniel mancini, according to malcolm.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well he looks a BIT like him I guess

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

nah malcolm reckoned dan could get me into the viper room. i was like shit i don't even know this guy, and he um married celia, do i WANNA meet him?>???

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

He's nice, actually! I only met him twice or so, tho

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm listening to "Sunset People" now. I think sticking all of side four of 'Bad Girls' on a tape for cruising w/Vic is a good idea.

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:42 (twenty-one years ago)

its funny, you know, i don't even know who DM is or what he does, except that he married celia and djed at heff's birthday party. i think i'd rather meet ilx celebrities than famous people, as i mentioned to vic earlier tonight.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

hey vic, my flatmate thinks you are a foxy thang.

seconded the side four of bad girls thing!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

di, if i'm out there too will you stalk axl with me? it'll be easy. he lives in a big house in malibu and never goes outside.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

you're thinking of richey manic

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

hey di, you're not too cool to come hang out with me in tucson are ya?

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh are you going to stop in Auckland at all? Eh?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

No fair. I wanna meet Di. I've actually had a weird desire to go to L.A. lately.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

What's in AUCKLAND, then? Besides you and Elizabeth kicking ass at arcade games. Oh wait that's reason enough.

H II, you must meet Di! She is utterly spiff.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

There's beer

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

That's true! And good beer at that.

(There are in fact many reasons to visit Auckland and wassail.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Are SPARKS planning any shows around then?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

As yet, no. They seem to do their LA shows almost out of nowhere, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

ill be there!!!

Sir Chaki McBeer III (chaki), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

AW YEAH

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

di, if i'm out there too will you stalk axl with me? it'll be easy. he lives in a big house in malibu and never goes outside.

His house is just off of Latigo Canyon Rd. There's a really good fish and chips biker roadhouse nearby

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I sense a theme for the FAP!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

how long does the boat to LA take? I should just about make it!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Remember to go through the canal and not via Tierra del Fuego, good sir!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm up for whatever as per usual!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I have two hours free on October 17th. Else, all booked up.

deanomgwtf!!!p%3Fmsgid%3D4581997 (deangulberry), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

working towards a new dress?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I wanna, and I will help you get that hat, by hook or by crook.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

dude this is guna be so much fun

Sir Chaki McBeer III (chaki), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

If I went to L.A. I'd insist on doing coke off of the brim of Slash's hat.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

My ex-gf and I literally ran into slash at a posh hotel bar called Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica. She was Spanish and had never heard of GnR and was kind of grossed out at having come into contact with his hair.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd love to touch Slash's hair.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it just LA? Are you road tripping? Say, to Portland?

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

How about ILX bit players?

third girl in shower (nickn), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

No such thing. In L.A., every ilxor is a *star*!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

its so nice to have a thread to wake up to!!!

chris, at this stage, all i have planned is LA and tucson. though i am trying to twist justyn's arms to go to mexico with me. if i go anywhere else, portland is a definite contender.

re: slash's hair, me too mandee. slash's hair is god. and yes, jbr, if we can stalk slash, we can stalk AXL too. i sure hope he wears them white bike shorts for the occasion.

ANDREW!!!! i am stopping in auckland on the way there and the way back. i will probably spend a good week in akkers on the way home for my research. mutherfucken party in auckland! lets stalk shortland street stars!

hey di, you're not too cool to come hang out with me in tucson are ya?

justyn, don't be silly. you are the main object of my stalking excursions.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Poor J.D. being stalked! Why, we must sequester him.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

considering how I didn't much talk last FAP, at Di's Weeklong Party FAP I promise to communicate via obtuse dance moves, if not mundane words, and then maybe we can all witness the interpretive dance Di swore to me she'd do on chapter 4 of her dissertation from last year!!! Ha.

Mandee, touching Ned's hair in person is close enough to stroking Slash's (only Ned doesn't know it yet). You should come! So should AdamL since I never got to meet him last time (grr). And Andrew: I'd cruise w/ you down Santa Monica Blvd listening to Donna (with Arthur as our wingman), forget Sunset.

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Mandee, touching Ned's hair in person is close enough to stroking Slash's (only Ned doesn't know it yet).

ASTONISHING!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Come to the Bay Area, you silly girl.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 29 June 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

ron please come on down! the more the merrier.

right thats it, anthony, if you are coming to hang with me in LA, i insist on a performance of "finally" in full drag.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

tough shit, di.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Argh, horrible! :-( Well, the next few weeks then -- I just hope that the prices don't change more!

Anthony performing "Finally" in drag -- now that's entertainment! But can he beat out Hugo Weaving and Terence Stamp doing the same thing!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

dear eisbar, (how do you do them umlaut thingies, btw?) as much as the east coast CUTIES! such as yourself and the pulchritudinous tokyo rosemary are tempting the bejesus outta me, i don't have enough money or time to go that far.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:28 (twenty-one years ago)

how do you do them umlaut thingies, btw?

On my keyboard I create things like umlauts and accents and all using the option key in combination with a designated letter key -- do you have an option key on yours? It's pretty standard, I think.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

no option key :-(

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:33 (twenty-one years ago)

to create an "ä," you hold down the "alt" key while simultaneously typing "132" using the numbers on the right-hand side of yer keyboard (it doesn't seem to work w/ the numbers on the top).

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

(i understand about the $$$ ... a shame, but that's ok. maybe some other time!)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

mary, you will always be the Original StarStalker in our hearts. you are a moth to Mozza's flame.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

vic i want to reply to yr email but eudora is playing up for some reason.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks, Luce, I feel better already:) If the planets align themselves in the right way, perhaps a three-way stalkage could be arranged between you, JBR, and I.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 01:43 (twenty-one years ago)

ain't no party like a west side party!

i have nothing helpful to add except that if it brings mad ilx love to my city, i have couches, floors and car rides to offer.

.rob (rgeary), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

and possibly candy.

.rob (rgeary), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 01:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i only accept candy from men in flasher coats.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i have this idea that i will step off the plane and the entire city will be reverberating with the sound of "welcome to the jungle".

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha0h0a!! Yes! Donna + Axl R= Official Soundtrack to this FAP

Mary and I already concocted a special plan to stalk the Moz - it involves someone's identity changing to a "Maria" and a possible "Abrahan" may be involved, but that's all I'm allowed to say. Now, we have to devise something for Ms Lurex...

...perhaps disguise you as a :::takes DEEP breath:::: ....a VRG? (VELVET REVOLVER GROUPIE)

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Mind you, that''s an issue of life and death right there. Extreme precautions will be taken if this plan is executed.

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Livin here is so crazy, really. I just walked home from work past the BET Awards and this one semi-famous cornrowed woman actually got out of the limo to respond to a fan's request for an autograph...but it was holding up so much pedestrian traffic in front of the El Capitan!

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Like argh can't you please just print out the mass-produced autographs on semi-famous' website!!

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 04:00 (twenty-one years ago)

And then there were the people last week who kept hoarding around Ray Charles star whom I wanted to push out of my way to work - so annoying!! IT'S NOT LIKE HE'S ACTUALLY IN THE STAR PEOPLE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAND THERE WITH YOUR FUCKING CANDLES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DAY AND NIGHT, 9-5 WILL DO JUST FINE THX

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

But don't let any of this turn off the FAP mood!! Di you will like the Erotic Walk of Fame inside Frederick's of Hollywood - and the porn walk of fame too ! Go get those tix!

Vic (Vic), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

And the rock and roll walk of fame in front of Guitar Center!

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)

will this be the 04 version of the july4fap?

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I just walked home from work past the BET Awards and this one semi-famous cornrowed woman actually got out of the limo to respond to a fan's request for an autograph...but it was holding up so much pedestrian traffic in front of the El Capitan!

Was that Tuesday night? I was wondering what the hell was going on down there - I was at the Egyptian for the final night of Godzilla flicks (which I just discovered was coordinated by Chris D. of The Flesh Eaters) before seeing the MC5 at the Echo.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

will this be the 04 version of the july4fap?

At this point it should be

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 08:07 (twenty-one years ago)

well...in that case

charltonlido (gareth), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

fuckin' a, di! gimme all the gossip (+ photos if you have a camera) on post-LA auckland stopoff &c.

sounds VERY promising.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 1 July 2004 02:31 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
sooo i got my ticket. i'm arriving on the 18th of october.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 July 2004 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

exciting!!

still tentative plan to attend :)

ron (ron), Sunday, 18 July 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

CUTIES!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 18 July 2004 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
is this still happening?

ron (ron), Sunday, 29 August 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Very much so. And even more importantly, Chaki is looking into setting up a show with him and Di, which will be the social event of the year!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 August 2004 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i want in.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 29 August 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

you ARE!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 29 August 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be there as well, deep circles beneath my eyes and a textbook under my arm.

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Sunday, 29 August 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm staying in LA from the 18th til the 23rd of october... then coming back in the final week of november. the fact that i will be there in about 48 days is BLOWING MY MIND. in between those times i'm going on a road trip with chris and jbr to tucson, where i will hang out with justyn. we are going to see le tigre and holly golightly shows, and going to vegas, stopping by the grand canyon!!

unfortunately i timed my visit to the states to coincide with the elections, thus proving that i am, indeed, a nutcase.

hello jeremy. will you have exams?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 29 August 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

di, you should come see the fiery furnaces with us! (if you like them, that is.)

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:09 (twenty-one years ago)

(never mind; the second FF show is the 17th, not the 18th.)

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

their cross-country tour sorta coincides with ours and we have vague plans to tailgate them and sell grilled cheese sandwiches out of the trunk of chris' car outside their shows.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha. great plan! i have never heard the fiery furnaces, perhaps i shall hunt out some mp3s :-)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

hey jbr did you move to california?

ron (ron), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

nope. actually chris is moving to nyc in mid-october, and i'll be there just beforehand for various di-fap festivities, rock shows, etc. then we pack up the car and head east for good.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, nice! no more jet blue red-eyes

ron (ron), Monday, 30 August 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

ehh, no exams. but my workload's scary-intense.

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Monday, 30 August 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

chaki! *taps monitor* are you in there? do you have a spare casio keyboard and/or guitar and amplifier i could borrow? i'd love to do a gig, but it would be plenty too cumbersome to bring my own gear over.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 30 August 2004 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

im workin on it!!

big chaki (chaki), Monday, 30 August 2004 02:18 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks chaki!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 30 August 2004 03:30 (twenty-one years ago)

casio keyboard and/or guitar and amplifier i could borrow? i'd love to do a gig, but it would be plenty too cumbersome to bring my own gear over.

I have a guitar, amps, Farfisa, and Vox Super Continental that I haven't moved east yet.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

When are you going, ET? I want to meet up with you before you leave, if possible.

x j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Monday, 30 August 2004 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

My last day at work is October 15th, and then the sky's the limit after that. There's a couple more Important Destinations that JBR and I still have to check out (almost all are food related) and then Di-FAP and then we're outta here. Figure that my last day in LA is sometime towards the 21st.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 30 August 2004 05:02 (twenty-one years ago)

haha chris i was gonna ask if i could borrow yr farfisa for the show

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 30 August 2004 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

but di gets dibs if she wants 'em

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 30 August 2004 07:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm excited about the show! Also, don't worry about the election, it shouldn't really disrupt any of your travel plans at all.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 30 August 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

And even more importantly, Chaki is looking into setting up a show with him and Di

The nu-Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell!

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 30 August 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone ought to record the Di/Chaki show!!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 30 August 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

hey chris, thanks a lot! what kind of guitar do you have? i forgot. and umm, i really would like to borrow your farfisa, it will bring back fond memories of my first band :-) jbr, perhaps we could both borrow the farfisa?

now, since there are only 44 days til i arrive, i feel i need to warn you all that i am a bit of a dick. especially when plied with alcohol. but a good way to distract me from being a dick is to get me dancing, especially to "shine a little love" by E.L.O!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 3 September 2004 22:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i kill myself for not being able to be there

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i was really looking forward to you singing "finally" in full drag.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 3 September 2004 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd suggest you remove your shoes beforehand, for my performance would undoubtedly knock your socks off. And it will happen someday. I guarantee it. Hell, if I leave the country again out of my own pocket, it's gonna be New Zealand. You folks is crazy.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 3 September 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Lemme tell ya, Di dancing puts EVERYONE to shame. She'll knock yer sox off.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 3 September 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

but a good way to distract me from being a dick is to get me dancing, especially to "shine a little love" by E.L.O!

Duly noted. I'm so glad you're going to be back in LA the last week of November! My break from teaching starts the Nov. 17th and goes till the end of the year. I'll probably be all wrapped up in my job before that, though I'll try to set up DJing for the 22nd or 23rd.

Arthur (Arthur), Saturday, 4 September 2004 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

what kind of guitar do you have? i forgot. and umm, i really would like to borrow your farfisa, it will bring back fond memories of my first band :-) jbr, perhaps we could both borrow the farfisa?

It's a '65 Jazzmaster - it desperately needs a fret job which I'm hoping to get done before I head east. I think I need to re-solder the plug on the Farfisa too.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Saturday, 4 September 2004 04:49 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
mmmm jazzmaster. hi everyone! 23 days til i board the plane. its a long plane ride and i have an irrational fear of deep vein thrombosis even though i know how to not get it.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

dude are you going anywhere else in the usa?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

remember your water and your support socks and you'll be fine.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

On my last long plane ride I was reading American Psycho, and I was stopped, searched at customs, and forced to stand in the little airpuffy machine while the guard examined my marginalia.

ex-jeremy (x Jeremy), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

as far as i have planned i am going to tucson, phoenix, las vegas (har har), the grand canyon (of adam brody's bum, ha just kidding), and hopefully mexico although that isn't in the usa and is thus not answering your question. i want to go to the following places but probably won't be able to: san francisco, seattle, portland, dallas.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll be driving to San Francisco from LA twice during October, if that's any help.

ex-jeremy (x Jeremy), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for the advice dudes. i will bring water, support socks and i will remember not to read american psycho on the plane.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

thats a pity, jeremy, my october schedule is already pretty full. but thanks!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Walking around every so often helps when it comes to that flight. But it's still a long-ass haul.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

hello ned! how are you?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Tired from the work week! But looking forward to good and fun things.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Do many people - who aren't masochists - look forward to bad and boring things?

luna (luna.c), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

luna (luna.c), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

If they're intended for other people who are of the evil, sure.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

eeek! yay!!!!! will i get to meet spencer too?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

you should skip several of those things and go to san francisco, i think. although it's probably more nz familiar than tucson or dallas, i guess!

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Of course, if you want to.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I should be around!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 24 September 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I wouldn't worry about missing Dallas. It's like every other big city, only more violent, more spread out and more boring. I can't think of a single reason for anyone to visit, unless they're big on BYOB strip clubs, traffic and the JFK assassination.

If you're looking for Texas flava, I'd aim for Austin or west TX.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Friday, 24 September 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

the reasons i listed dallas were a) want to go to texas b) would love to meet sam, she is a doll.

as for the rest of my travel itinerary, if i go further afield than arizona it won't be til november.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 25 September 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

if you can, you should def. see sam in dallas (since she and you have hit it off so well)!

as fer me, i'd still like a CUTIES! phone-call ... but only if it doesn't break the bank, of course.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 26 September 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

hello LA... vic can't let me crash at his place anymore, is there anyone else here who could pretty please put me up? i would be oh so grateful and i am a well behaved houseguest i promise! arthur, is your offer still open?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 4 October 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

My goodness! We must house you somehow or there will be sorrow. So it's the eighteenth you arrive, a Monday. Hmmm.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 4 October 2004 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

It's like there are these two strange intertwined LAXor circles that haven't quite met yet.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 4 October 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

our plans got fuxored and i won't be in LA until november 6. so i have to miss di-fap, sadly, but maybe we'll get to meet her in tucson.

Ms. Lurex is always welcome in Long Beach.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 9 October 2004 08:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Those are good dates to be sure! We were thinking as well, if you are up for it, the night of the 19th for the screening of The Apple and Xanadu as a double feature in a theater on Beverly. Would you like to join us all for that as well?

I defer to Spencer and Vic's inestimable knowledge of good bars. And hurrah for housing worries sorted!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 9 October 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

wait wait wait is this THE xanadu???? starring olivia newton john? if so, please give me a few days to clone myself so there are A HUNDRED of me to enjoy this experience. if not, count me in anyway. hell this sounds like funnishness!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 10 October 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

And good bars beforehand! We'll become friends over the margherita I buy you! It's the Xanadu, and teh Apple.

Remy (x Jeremy), Sunday, 10 October 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

All right, we have a plan! :-) Remy, you know the full details, so help me do the organizing honors for that, and we must next plan another all-in drink-and-fun FAP on Friday the 22nd as well, surely. Why, that can be the night for collectively SLASH STALKING if we like!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 10 October 2004 05:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Vic's picking you up on Monday, right? Let me know if you want to stay over any night that week.

Sorry (to you and Vic) I've been so out of touch.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay Metal Skool! I knew there would be love. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

See y'all tonight at Xanadu / Apple / El Coyote. I'll be late, but I'll be present.

Remy (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

And Arthur just wrote me to say he will be there for drinks and food, rah!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I won't be there til the movie, but I'm coming.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to try and get to El Coyote by 6. Not sure if I'm up for the movie(s). I might be down for further drinks after the movies.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude. Don't be too cool for the movies.

Vic, Tuesday, 19 October 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

We were talking about how much Di is going to want to touch your blazer as she started the Pabst Ribbon Blue last night OMG

Btw, I still haven't slept since last two times I posted...since I had to go to that shit interview! I blame chaki for introducing that celebrity plastic surgery page on my comp

Vic, Tuesday, 19 October 2004 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Heading out here momentarily, hope to see as many folks as can show in a couple of hours!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

When is Di returning back to NZ?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

again, i'm very sorry i have to miss this. anyone who has my number is free to drunk-dial me. :-)

paranoia is the hipster's disease (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Hipster action at Cinespace tonight for those who want to party after the movie. I might check it out.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

lets go!

big chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

vik wants to take me 80s-dancing after the movies. if you come along with us, you are guaranteed a boogie sandwich.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I may not be able to get there until 8

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Where will the 80s dancing take place? Cinespace will have a mix of 80s, indie and hip-hop.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i will let vik answer that question when he has woken up from his much-needed nap. cinespace sounds sehr gut.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 22:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i am down for cinespace!! 'cuz it is walking distance from my place... and spencer said he gets n no prob every time. but if it turns out to be too shi shi to get in we can always go to The Room around the corner at 1626 Cahuenga since it's supposed to be good on Tue nights (the event is called "Dirty"!)

and there always is Ickey's, on Santa Monica Blvd as a last resort.... =)

Vic, Tuesday, 19 October 2004 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone want to see Tarnation on Thursday? (PS Welcome to LA, Di! Sorry it's raining.)

youn, Wednesday, 20 October 2004 01:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I do!

Remy (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Halfway decided to come to this, but the thought of the Pasadena and Hollywood freeways in the rain scared me off. I'll just have to rent the Apple DVD. Good luck in New York, Chris.

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, good. c'mon, di! c'mon, vic! c'mon, ned, if you can bear trekking up to la again! (xpost)

oh, they aren't back from having fun yet.

youn, Wednesday, 20 October 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't make it on Thursday, so have fun! But Friday night I'm coming up and various ideas are being considered -- Di has to catch the Greyhound out of town Saturday morning. More on this thread on that as it comes together.

Tonight was great fun -- Chris and I had to cut out early before The Apple but doubtless further merriment has ensued.

Tomorrow is Disneyland! Plus hanging around in my neck of the woods for dinner and drinks and whatever in the evening. If you're interested in joining us, best thing to do is call Vic on his cell phone tomorrow afternoon for more info, will mail it around to folks tonight.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 04:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I just missed y'all.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 04:35 (twenty-one years ago)

:-(

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 04:35 (twenty-one years ago)

good luck with the rain tomorrow

experimental grandma (deangulberry), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 05:18 (twenty-one years ago)

grandma, luna: it is fated we will never meet!

Remy (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 05:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I refuse to accept that. I got drenched in pouring rain once, and dammit, I'll do it again.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 06:31 (twenty-one years ago)

good luck with the rain tomorrow

It's been pretty heavy all night! We will confer this morning and see.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Uggggggggggggggggggggh

Vic, Wednesday, 20 October 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not hungover but frankly, the rain? I don't know, does Di REALLY want to go to Disneyland today? Let me call you here in a sec.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

And having done that -- unsurprisingly, Disneyland jaunt postponed to Friday, hanging around in my neck of the woods in the evening similarly postponed to Friday. We'll make it work somehow!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

shame about the weather, but i'm definitely up for friday and the forecast is good. hey youn! vik and i are DEFINITELY innarested in tarnation, is there a late screening after 9:30pm on thursday, so vik can make it after work?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

ps THE APPLE. THE APPPPPPLLLLLLLE!!!!!!!!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha! I knew you would love it. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, omigosh. So I'm a little more coherent now...an even CRAZIER night! We wound up hitting up Cinespace after 12:30, and weren't surprised that not even the horrors of the drizzling excuse me torrents, could keep the hipster massive from posing when it's a 45 night - but it was free for us!! Every 24 hours it gets wilder...and how is all this gonna CLIMAX? Friday? When we collectively explode as Mickey Mouse talks sign language with Mr Raggett. Chaki owes me one now, fo' sho; hell, Di does too. I'm glad my carpet is still stainless, after how wet it was getting last night. It was cool meeting Jeremy, and nice to see lolita again! Your new 'do r0cks.

So...as today is not Drunken Disneylanday any longer, we're totally open to any ideas. Ned, do you mind telling us the name and location of that vegan restaurant again, as both Lucy and I lost it, and we may want to take Di there for dinner tonight.

Di hasn't even been to the beach yet, as it's quite atypically been raining the entire time she's been here. So, as it's stopped a bit for now, we may want to go out to Santa Monica/ Venice; if any of you are down for joining us, please call me! Dean, don't you live near there?

Otherwise, in an effort to save gas $, and since Lucy really wants to go dancing, we may just go hipster clubbing st Star Shoes down the boulevard. Spencer, I know that's one of your fave joints, so definitely call me if you make it. Spencer, and everyone else too, of course....Jeremy, what are u upto tonight? Want to try on new platforms as you get sloshed ?

Vic, Wednesday, 20 October 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Youn, if I can get out of work ten minutes earlier tommorrow night (9:20), I guess we can reasonably make it to the Nuart at 9:50 when Tarnation starts. Want to email me your cell ? If you're brave enough, you're welcome to join us as we invade the lesbian bars (and Ickey's/ the Abbey!) in WeHo afterwards. What IS your gender, anyway? =)

Oh, and speaking of work, here is my general announcement about tommorrow: as I'm going to be busy from 1-9:20ish PM, if one of you wants to take Di out, or spend some quality alone time with her (Arthur? Spencer?) email or call me. She'd love some company. (She really loves company).

Vic, Wednesday, 20 October 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, do you mind telling us the name and location of that vegan restaurant again, as both Lucy and I lost it, and we may want to take Di there for dinner tonight

Taste of Goddess, 7253 Santa Monica or thereabouts. Near the La Brea intersection.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks ned!

I meant $5 night not 45 night, but i blame the death of innumerable brain cells since monday for all of my conspicuous typos and gaffes etc

Vic, Wednesday, 20 October 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Eat well, party well and then sleep. Friday will be the goodness!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Ok so we are finally napping, but aspire to visit this Goddess tonight for dinner. Anyone is free to call me after 7:30 pm! If you do before, just leave a message... also, if anyone still has the LA Weekly from last week with the Tarnation guy on the cover, if they could bring it tommorrow if / when we go see it, that would be totally rad.

Vic, Wednesday, 20 October 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay so I just got a call finding out that this Taste of Goddess closes at 7PM, WTF. So we're now going all the way to Canoga Park (near Chaki's hood) for vegan food w/ Lucy...just for Princess Di. =) Like around 8? After that Star Shoes sounds cool (Spencer showed me the flyer about this record release party thaat features $3/beers 'til midnite!!!), or whatever we can work something out, if any of you biznitches wanna call me. Must. Sleep. Now.

Vic, Wednesday, 20 October 2004 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

hi everyone! it was wicked cool meeting so many of you last night. cinespace was awesome fun, wish you all could have made it (but fair enough, it doesn't even rain this heavily in new zealand), vik and i did the running man, HA. i am being shown the time of my LIFE and after all this excitement i can hardly sleep.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 21 October 2004 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Ugh, can't do anything tomorrow till after 8. Sorry, Di. I teach all day and then I have a class from 4-7:30. Maybe I can make it to the Nuart, though? I might be too pooped. I think I still have the Weekly, Vic, and I'll save it for you. If I don't make it to the movie tomorrow night, I'll try and head down to Orange County for dinner and a drink or two.

Arthur (Arthur), Thursday, 21 October 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

no problems arthur! if everyone is too busy to hang out with me tomorrow, i am perfectly capable of entertaining myself. there is so much to explore nearby vik's apartment!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 21 October 2004 05:08 (twenty-one years ago)

bah, i clicked on this thread expecting to find exciting photos of all the goings on, come on LAers, sort it out ;)

glad to hear your having a nice time Di :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 21 October 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

That should hopefully be remedied after I get new batteries for my digital cam. Arthur, I'll try to call you tomorow during my break sometime around 5 PM, but if I can't then i will at 9:20ish. Feel free to call my cell anytime, and don't throw away that Weekly even if you can't make it ! If anyone wants to do anything with Di during the day, they can email her to get my home #, and she'll tell you where you can pick her up.

Vic (Vic), Thursday, 21 October 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

photosphotosphotos!

bulbs (bulbs), Thursday, 21 October 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah what the fuck, i tried to take photos of the el coyote fap and my camera wasn't working. grrrr.

Vic (Vic), Thursday, 21 October 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I forgot to bring my cam to El Coyote!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 21 October 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, but the 9:50 showing of Tarnation will be too late for me because I have to be at my internship by 7 the following day. And lesbian bars sound so tempting... (I could be a lesbian, but I am not.) (xpost)

youn, Thursday, 21 October 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

who wants to go to cabaret voltaire with me tonite at 8:30 to see my hot french classmate in performance action?

that was actually me posting under vik's login.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 21 October 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi! It's the real me again and hm, well, if no one can make Tarnation, then yeah maybe we can come see hot french classmates at Cabaret Voltaire as it's just down the street from us, but it would be more along the lines of 9:30 or so.

Di has been here four days, and three of them it hasn't been sunny, but now that it is, she'd like to go see the beach!! So if anyone has time, email her to get my home #, and she'll tell you where my apt is, so that while I'm at work you can take her to TEH OCEAN.

If nothing else, we are def doing WeHo tonight...

Vic, Thursday, 21 October 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Send her up to SF, it's like 80 and sunny today.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 21 October 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Organize a trip and bring everyone down here! ;-)

Vic, still not sure if I can get out of work tomorrow for Disneyland -- will probably have to let you know tomorrow morning. But call me tonight or something; definitely dinner etc. down here is on, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 21 October 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

LA people are so snobbish to OC people re culture, but the beaches here are way better! (okay, truth be told, i wanna move to NY or DC.)

youn, Thursday, 21 October 2004 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

yay my camera is working now.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 21 October 2004 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 22 October 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 22 October 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 22 October 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 October 2004 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

hey ned! can you please call vik's cell tomorrow at 11am tomorrow? we can then talk about when we are going to meet you. (we're still waiting to hear if lucy is coming or not.)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 22 October 2004 05:27 (twenty-one years ago)

today, ned, vik and i went to disneyland. we had an awesome time, even though a lot of the rides, presumably the more exciting rides, were unavailable. vik got outsassed by a 5 year old and 6 year old, who in no uncertain terms told him he was not allowed on one of the rides in tomorrowland, because he was too big. then they threw grass at him. afterwards we met up with mark at native foods and fed our faces vegan style. i wish new zealand had vegan key lime parfait :-( anyway, i'm off to tucson tomorrow and i should be back in around a month. hopefully i will catch up with you awesome people again. GOODBYE LA!! I WILL MISS YOU!!!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 23 October 2004 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm actually really jealous you get to be around for the election!

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Saturday, 23 October 2004 06:53 (twenty-one years ago)

This was truly the bizarro highlight of the day. Fun times had! Enjoy Arizona and thereabouts!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 23 October 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 24 October 2004 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

three weeks pass...
i feel like such an egomaniac for reviving this thread since i hardly post to anything else on this board and i am worried that i made a bad impression on people when i was last in LA but anyways i will be back from the 23rd til the 29th and i still want to party with you people okay! i mean unless you hate me in which case i hope your budweisers taste like vomit. i am yet to experience WeHo and the beach. arthur, do you still wanna go dancing with me? i wanna go dancing with YOU!!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 14 November 2004 08:09 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

We've conspired, and come up with a Thai food at Toi followed by karaoke at the Smog Cutter combination for Friday night. Anybody who wants in just AIM me or send smoke signals or use semaphore flags.

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

ned, i'll talk about some of your suggestions with vik and get back to you, okay? in the meantime, here are some of my tentative plans...

23rd: the gossip at the henry fonda theatre
24th amoeba records
26th evening with orbit at Toi and karaoke.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi, everybody, it's Arthur. Di, I'll be around all of next week, I think. There's a slight chance I'll be going up to San Francisco, but I really don't think I can afford it. And I'll be back by Thursday (Thanksgiving) if I do go. I'm up for a drive to the beach and maybe some dancing, who knows? School's out, hooray!

And I am DJing at Akbar on Friday the 26th from 10 to 2, so everyone should come by after karaoke at the Smog Cutter. It's only a few blocks away. And more dancing this time, please!

Jeremy, when do you get back from San Francisco?

Titsy Borgnine (Arthur), Thursday, 18 November 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Will have to bow out on the Friday due to work plans and possibly the visit of a friend in the evening. Saturday is a strong possibility for something, though, let's keep the schedule open! Arthur, like I mentioned on the Lost thread, let me know about your Wednesday if you don't go to SF.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 18 November 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

arthur arthur arthur this is great news!!! i am definitely going to add akbar to my things-to-do-on-friday-night list. whats a good day for the beach? (perhaps we should plot a couple of beach days as i recall last time i was in LA it rained on the day we were gonna do disneyland).

I think I'll be back from SF on Friday -- it'll be my birthday -- and I'll be up for anything.

Remy (x Jeremy), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

(hey arthur, long time no see!)

Remy (x Jeremy), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday night could well be fun and I might, emphasize 'might,' be able to persuade good friend Jake to come along depending on their plans. But said plans are still vague for his crew.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 November 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

oops sunday the 27th i mean

big chaki (chaki), Friday, 19 November 2004 01:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep. Friday. Toi, followed by Smog Cutter.

Orbit (Orbit), Friday, 19 November 2004 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Remy (x Jeremy), Friday, 19 November 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 19 November 2004 04:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Hiya, Jeremy! I'm off track, finally!! Can you e-mail me your cell number, I lost my phone with all my numbers. You too, Spencer, if you're reading this. Looking forward to seeing you all next week!

Titsy Borgnine (Arthur), Friday, 19 November 2004 04:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I might actually attend all this despite not being invited to the Hallobene party, but beware, Di and I may just be escaping to the capital of Fratexico (TJ).

Vic (Vic), Friday, 19 November 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

You weren't invited? Aw! It was a smashing party. :-)

Vic, will call you tonight or over the weekend about Wednesday. Are you free during all of the day?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 November 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know yet. The next three weeks are unbelievably stressful as I have to finish 5-6 grad applications and start studying for those dreaded GREs that I'm taking on the 13th.

I haven't done any mathematics since 1997 (when I took AP Calculus and finished my school district's curriculum in 11th grade).

Email may be the ideal form of communication for now...

Di's curfew is midnight.

Vic (Vic), Friday, 19 November 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

At which point you turn into a pumpkin?

Will e-mail today or tomorrow or something. Good luck with the studying!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 November 2004 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Chaki-
Email me your phone number, I lost it!

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 20 November 2004 02:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 20 November 2004 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, lurkers welcome! Just email me at radiofreealbemuth @ gmail . com
I've assembled a motley crew of local karaoke denizens to accompany us. Woo-hoo!

Orbit (Orbit), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Vague plans for tomorrow -- Vic, Arthur, Di and myself and whoever else wants in will get dinner/drinks before what we're hoping is an 8 pm showing of Alexander. Di, Arthur and I will be free in the afternoon -- a late morning Amoeba run is planned and more will suggest itself!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I may get off of work early tomorrow (but then again, maybe not). I'll try Arthur's celly. There's hipster action at TOKIO late tomorrow night.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have to work tomorrow, so I'll probably be there.

youn, Tuesday, 23 November 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Rockness. Youn, e-mail me your cell or best number to get a hold of you at tomorrow morning, thanks!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Let's go to the beach tomorrow! We can have a Bloody Mary at one of those PCH restaurants before we head back into town. Where should we go for dinner--a Middle Eastern place? Or should we just hit El Coyote again?

Great, Youn's coming along!

Titsy Borgnine (Arthur), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, weird stuff is arranged and re-arranged - someone call me tomorrow and lemme know what's up.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

im around!

chaki in charge (chaki), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Where should we go for dinner--a Middle Eastern place? Or should we just hit El Coyote again?

Somewhere different, obv with vegetarian/vegan offerings -- Arthur, check your mail; Vic pointed out a movie theater of choice and we should look for something to eat thereabouts, just for ease's sake.

Beach tomorrow after lunch/Amoeba would be fun!

Luna and Chaki, right now the general plan is to meet up at Amoeba very late morning. I can call you both from there (but Chaki I need a phone number for you!).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

well I do have to work - I won't be out until the usual time

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

We shall call ya mid-afternoon if not sooner and appraise you of the situation.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Tons of Cahuenga corridor hipster action tomorrow night. Tokio, Beauty Bar, and Star Shoes are all having parties.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

that sounds fun

chaki in charge (chaki), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

After high Greek camp, dancing away might prove our salvation.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Have fun sexy L.A. people. I like the word, "Cahuenga."

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Di has arrived and is currently bathing herself (in milk, yes). I drove her to Erehwon on the way here to pick up REAL margarine (oxymoron?).

Oh wow, the PCH. Well now...maybe I can postpone insignificant little daily habits like "work" after all. Arthur, if you do decide to go, could Di and I bum a ride off of you (if Ned's hair doesn't take up all the room) ? i'm just trying to save some ga$ ca$h here.

Middle Eastern ? There's this one really cool Moroccan place on Sunset next to the Harmony & Gold theatre that I've been wanting to explore for sometime, but it looks SHI SHI WHAT 2 DO

Otherwise, to keep it kinda in the local Beverly Center: Noura Cafe

Located across the street from such swank, urban eateries as Ago and Lucques lies a culinary holdover from the ?70s wave of Middle Eastern immigration. The exterior is deceptively simple and unassuming, but inside, the restaurant offers a vibrant display of Mediterranean décor. The menu offers a potent mix of Lebanese, Turkish and Greek delicacies that sooth the hungry heart. The broiled kebabs (lamb, chicken, sirloin) are the main attractions, but the falafels and salads are just as tasty. Assorted baklavas and smoothies are available for dessert. All this can be enjoyed in one of four segmented dining areas strewn with vines, plants and fountains. Ambient Arabic and Turkish music plays softly over the sounds of hushed conversations. Some nights have private parties scheduled so call ahead just in case. All in all, the savory dishes and modest prices make this establishment worth making into a ritual. -- Walter Fernandez, Jr. (Photo: Madeline Martell)

Steps from Fairfax High School (yep, the alma mater of celebs like Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers) and the pedestrian-packed corridor of shops centered around Canter's Deli to the south, Eat A Pita is one of those LA institutions that everyone knows about, whether they've actually eaten a pita there or not. Part of the reason is surely its copious use of plant life. On a street made mostly of concrete and brick, Eat A Pita is a little oxygen-rich gazebo of pure green. Folks also notice the pita palace simply because it looks like it has been there for decades, serving its famous falafels and equally popular carrot juice. With a vintage-looking sign that boasts "11AM-10PM every day of the year," Eat A Pita draws not only diners who dig Middle Eastern eats but people who like to come and linger on the pretty patio, holidays included. Should you bring your laptop, be sure to eat that tahini-slathered goodie to the side of your keyboard, not over it.

Tokio is so sceney; never been. Star shoes can be fun though. As my pad is just 3 blocks from "the Corridor" ("the New Strip" - LA Times), if someone wants to bring an insignificant other back to my place, you are welcome to do so. But despite the holiday week, there are no discounts.

Regular shacking up rates will still apply.

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Vic, for safety's sake, mail me the link on the theatre info again. We should probably try and get the tickets early on in the afternoon!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

You could also just go to farmer's market, then everyone can eat whatever they desire! There's also the bar, but it might be cold, but there are heaters.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

That's actually a really good idea! Has Di been there yet?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

the beach, bloody mary's and middle eastern food sound excellent. as for dancing tomorrow night, we'll see if i feel up to it. don't wanna burn myself out too early!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 00:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, yeah, Farmer's Market! Good idea. Where's the movie, anyway? Is it at the Grove? We could just walk over then. And experience this fake snow I've been hearing so much about.

I'll be at Amoeba around 11:30.

Hot Bitch with an Elecric Guitarthur (Arthur), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Where's the movie, anyway? Is it at the Grove?

Beverly 13 I think.

Okay, heads up for folks:

Vic, Di, Arthur and I gather at Amoeba late morning, then some lunch, swing by the theater to get the tickets out of the way, and then off to the beach for the afternoon. We'll call around to folks around 3 pm or the like to catch everyone up as we can. Farmer's Market does sound really good, how does 5:30 sound as a general arrival time? Any place where we should try to meet up? Again, we're aiming for the 8 pm showing of _Oliver Stone's Manly Man Epic_.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 05:56 (twenty-one years ago)

This is for Wednesday, right? Any plans for Friday or Saturday?

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 07:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, upthread is the talk about karaoke and then seeing Arthur DJ at Akbar for Friday, can't make those myself due to work and dinner with a friend. Saturday and Sunday right now are open and I know Di had some specific ideas about things to do, so that will yet suggest itself.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 13:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday's plan:

Meet at Toi for Thai food at 7pm
THEN Karaoke at the Smog Cutter in Silverlake

Email me for my phone #, or email me at radiofreealbemuth @ gmail.com
for Friday shenanigans

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Orbit (Orbit), Thursday, 25 November 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Car rentals aren't too pricey. My bro and I were just discussing a road trip west today whilst sneaking away for a square (him not me).

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Friday, 26 November 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I have a really comfy sectional couch that sleeps two. The beach is across the street.

The house has recently been cited by city inspectors for its lack of Sam.

OOOHHH VIC BAY-BEE!

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 27 November 2004 00:38 (twenty-one years ago)

in discission with the locals, we'll actually end up karaoking at Cosmo's on 1st St. downtown (near Little Tokyo) because I've been informed that Smog Cutter is being invaded by suburbanites who've discovered it. To preserve the dive-L.A. experience, we've opted for Cosmo's. Sorry for the late notice.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 27 November 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

hey bitchezzz, we are having killer fun, we monopolised the karaoke machine and orbit did a fantastic version of white rabbit, vic's sexy hott rendition of "mickey" made me slide right off my barstool. oh yeahhh. now we are off to akbar and i have broken out the hotpants. oh. yes.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 27 November 2004 07:25 (twenty-one years ago)
