We'll be in Brooklyn the first two nights and then staying at a hotel on E 40th for the rest of the trip. Mooted excursions during our visit include Coney Island, Washington, Hudson River Amtrakkin', somewhere nice in Long Island maybe...

So if you know of anything cool/hottt happening in that week - gigs, DJs, exhibitions, ridicolos rain-avoiding karaoke etc. list it here!

And the question must once again be asked, does anyone fancy a pint? Hoping to see as many of you as possible.

Alix with an I ? (alix), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

No! No lies!

Alix with an I ? (alix), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

coney island should be much more happening than it was on your previous visit, especially if you get a nice weekend.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

it is a potemkin village)
True, best seen from the window of a Potemkin Cadillac.

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

so i'm thinking Brooklyn FAP of some sort on the 28th, with some sort of Poptimism telephonic link-up...and i really hope there's something big and clubby happening on Saturday 30th to counter the sting of missing both Vitalic and ESG/Superpitcher/Annie in London.

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Zooropa!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I might be in Montreal though. :(

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I am down ffor whatever, I don't have any helpful suggestions but that happens to coincide with my final week of classes so my workload will be nil that weekend, it's great timing.

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 01:46 (twenty-one years ago)

jo jo dancer, your life is calling.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

aye ok.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd quite like to Tombot but dunno if there will be time - how feasible is a day trip really?

what are applebottoms and can we eat them etc.

Sven Basted (blueski), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

the METROLINER is like a 3 hour train ride one way. So a day trip is either feasible or infeasible depending on how much you like your sleep in bed. Amtrak does go straight from downtown to downtown though so there's little bother with the travelling afterwards, it's all subway stops and walking at your discretion. I could give you a list of things2do&see from the metro stops in downtown easily, email me. serious inquiries only obv.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

tanks dude, i may bee in touch, AHAHAHAHA!

(i will understand now if no-one wants to meet up...)

Sven Basted (blueski), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Coney Island last year was ROCKING.

Have fun, guys. You'll miss me by one month.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

am thinking Thursday 28th would be a nice night for meeting up if anyone wants to. no idea where tho - figure midtown or lower east side would be best for everyone but open to suggestions.

anyone doing anything big on the Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights? let's hear it.

strangely casual about this - nothing really planned, just gonna pack as many sights and sounds as possible into the short time. usual touristy stuff (all the things i missed last time, which it turns out was a fair bit). probably hang out in/explore Brooklyn more (where's a great high vantage point for gazing at the Manhattan skyline as the sun sets - anyone?).

excited/nervous/baffled. but mostly excited.

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 18 April 2005 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to watch dudes pack my stuff onto a truck and drive it across a bridge to unpack it again on the 29th or the 30th.

Poop!

TOMBOT, Monday, 18 April 2005 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

THAT SUCKS

you'll just have to come to London again (bring face-shield this time)

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 18 April 2005 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

hi. i will be in town during these shenanigans and if my work schedule permits i am down for whatev.

ps- kentucky derby day festivities at floyd on atlantic avenue. fancy a mint julep, anyone?

brody the country girl dalle (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 18 April 2005 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

But really they were sports to put up with us. I think day 2 is probably the worst for jet-lag. They apparently fought through it though, all the way to Staten Island!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 29 April 2005 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

so was anything decided upon? i will be up in NJ visiting my parents this weekend.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Friday, 29 April 2005 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Tell Steve & Lixi to bring us back strange and exotic American goods. And to continue having a rocking time, of course.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 29 April 2005 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, almond m&ms especially.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 29 April 2005 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

good luck. over the years, i've been promised many things by steve - scampi and jelly babies, to name a few - and in each case was left bitterly disappointed.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 29 April 2005 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I expect Steve M was merely waiting for the opportunity to surprise you with scampi-flavoured jelly babies on yr next birthday. Whoops! Me and my big...hands.

I can't wait to see the pictures. We might need to open another internet for them.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 29 April 2005 10:10 (twenty-one years ago)

if someone told me that prawn cocktail jelly babies actually exist in the uk, i wouldn't be that surprised.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 29 April 2005 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a shot of tequila in my bag.

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Friday, 29 April 2005 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

If someone told me that living jelly babies actually existed anywhere, I'd quite cheerfully fall over and go mad.

BARMS, Friday, 29 April 2005 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

what's going on saturday, folx?

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 29 April 2005 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem, get one cure reissues box set for moi*!

*not paying for it, mind - it's my birthday soon tho ;-)

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 29 April 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 29 April 2005 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 29 April 2005 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I sincerely wish I could be there!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 29 April 2005 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

its kinda a not so great weekend. adult & goldchains are playing at mercury lounge tonite. afterparty at bar eleven - goldchains and dj assault are spinning. saturday & sunday - cherry blossom festival at brooklyn botanical garden. monday, suspiria is screening at rififi for the metropol night. thats all i can think of.

oh wait, saturday at NA is the afterparty for the film slingshot. david arquette is in it. um, and d-nice from boogie down productions is dj'ing.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 29 April 2005 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, so are there any plans? im going to be hanging with my parents this weekend.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Friday, 29 April 2005 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

the anthology film archives has "films of the situationist international" this weekend. and there's this, which looks lame but the one for kids could be great fun.

i am in town for fun and frolic. i'm reachable by any of the usual methods.

fra lippo liposuction (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 30 April 2005 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

pleasure to meet them.

cutty (mcutt), Saturday, 30 April 2005 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

does anyone want to see can dialectics break bricks? with me on sunday evening? we can drink afterwards!

René Viénet and Gerard Cohen
CAN DIALECTICS BREAK BRICKS? / LA DIALECTIQUE PEUT-ELLE CASSER DES BRIQUES?
1973, 90 minutes.
A kung-fu film détourned by Viénet and Cohen into an examination of class and intellectual sectarianism. According to Viénet, "The cinema, which is the newest and most serviceable means of expression of our era has been marking time for _ of a century. By way of review, let us say that it has in fact become the '7th art' dear to cinephiles, cine-clubs, PTAs. Let us state that for our purposes the cycle has come to an end (Ince, Stroheim, the one and only L'AGE D'OR, CITIZEN KANE and MR. ARKADIN, the lettrist films. Let us appropriate the stammerings of this new writing; let us appropriate above all its most achieved examples, the most modern ones, those which have escaped artistic ideology even more than American B-movies."

fra lippo liposuction (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 30 April 2005 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

which is a long-winded way of saying "the non-rockism of cheesy b-movies is the best and funniest platform for positing our very french opinions on class, so come see what we did to a kung-fu picture."

fra lippo liposuction (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 30 April 2005 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

yo this is the first chance i've had to get online since getting here so wasn't able to co-ordinate things with people on the board. a few of us met up at Daddy's on THursday night. didn't make it to the NHM yesterday, got as far up as MOMA which alone took something like 3 well spent hours up - then went up ESB for night views and traipsed over to Times Square to watch Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy which was great.

weather sucks now (last two days been great tho - bit sunburnt even) so might just do indoor stuff today. if anyone wants to meet later i'm gonna be at the Divine bar (http://www.barcrawler.com/divine.html) for 7pm - with Bar Eleven sounding like the best option after that unless anyone has another idea (any kind of dancey club tonight would be great).

Jody I would LOVE to see that film tomorrow. Spending all day tomorrow in Brooklyn hopefully - en route to Coney Island unless the weather REALLY sucks...but let's meet near where that film is showing near the time - which is where and when? drinks at DBA bar afterwards or somewhere nearer?

stevem in nyoik, Saturday, 30 April 2005 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

steve, i e-mailed you, but i'll say it here for anyone else who wants to meet up:

the film is sunday night at 7 at anthology film archives (2nd ave. at 2nd st. on the lower east side). the plan seems to be to meet around 6, get tickets, and find somewhere to hang until showtime. dba afterwards sounds good.

i'll be heading into downtown manhattan this afternoon. i'll probably just find somewhere to park my laptop and drink coffee for a few hours. if you're in the area and you want to get out of the rain/caffeinate before bar-crawling/etc, give me a call or e-mail me and i'll give you the deets.

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 30 April 2005 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve -

Very fun party - where people actually DANCE! (which is a rare phenomena at most NYC parties w/ excellent music, believe me) - thrown by Dan Selzer and friends 2nite at Capone's Bar in W'Burg. I highly recommend and the trek from Manhattan is quick. Selection is pretty much old school in flavor: Chicago house, Italo, Disco, Fresstyle, Detroit Techno, Nuttiness. And the pizza's yummy. Details:

SAT 4/30: 4 ALLDISCO/BEAT CLUB RESIDENTS HAVE A FREEFORALL AT
> CAPONE'S
> In which Rob Uptight, Dan Selzer, PappaWheelie and Jeremy DJ outside
> the box for one night.
> !!!Free Red Stripe from 10-11 this time!!!
>
> Capone's - 221 N. 9th closer to Roebling than Driggs
> (not far from either Bedford or Lorimer L stops)
> 10pm | Free | 21+ | Free pizza until 3:30am

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Saturday, 30 April 2005 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 30 April 2005 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Saturday, 30 April 2005 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

h0t h0t h0rsey (Carey), Saturday, 30 April 2005 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't have any free pizza lsat night, i don't like cheese plus it ain't exactly date food.

ddb and his girl were there, and phil showed up too.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 30 April 2005 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Saturday, 30 April 2005 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I totally missed this thread!

nabiscothingy, Sunday, 1 May 2005 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry i couldn't make it last night, by the time i got home (uh for the first time in a while) i was too tired to go out.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 1 May 2005 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

THANKS TO EVERYBODY WHO SHOWED UP.

NO THANKS TO JOEL.

seriously though. Rain + humidity + me not showering in weeks made me very uncomfortable and we had the worst turnout yet. Actually, I assume the showering thing had little effect on turnout. I was down in the dumps untill to my suprise people actually started dancing, despite the place not packed to the gills. Unfortunately you all didn't drink enough for me to make a substantial amount of money, so now I have go back to work to pay the rent.

But in any case, nice to meet you, hope you enjoyed the music and all of that.

I did not see Maria there, however. Were you in town?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 2 May 2005 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem and alix are great! and the movie was great too. so were the belgian blond ale and the ethiopian food. top night all round.

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 2 May 2005 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

there are always the CUTEST guys with glasses at dan's capones party.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 2 May 2005 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

shit! wish i cd have been there for the crunkness. (in my mind, small dedicated crowd + extra humidity + drinking = maximum crunk.)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 2 May 2005 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

it got minimally crunk. I had brought mostly house music because that's what I wanted to play, but when I saw the (relatively) small dancefloor, figured I wouldn't have much a chance. Then I did it anyway, just a quick set of classics mixed with some New Wave and freestyle hits. Now, friday night at Lit, well, that was amazing. Talk about crunk. Just totally random completely wasted people, literally going crazy. I went super deep and when the night ended there were like, 3 fights happening simultaneously. And David Cross was there, though I think just upstairs. I didn't figure him for a house fan. Maybe if I played New Bomb Turks or Mercury Rev or something.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 2 May 2005 04:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow. I'm sorry to hear the turnout was slim, Dan. I couldn't make it because I got stuck at home mixing something for a project I'm doing. By the time that was done it was 1 a.m. and --- nuuuuuuh. Would've loved to have been there, though. Glad some people dropped by anyhow.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Monday, 2 May 2005 04:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha you just reminded me of a favorite day-dream I have, Dan, of Mercury rev house remixes..

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 2 May 2005 04:58 (twenty-one years ago)

that "delta sun" song is kinda house-y.

sorry dan!

steve are you up to anything today? i'm off, gonna enjoy the nice weather...

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 2 May 2005 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

house remixes of mercury rev is an awful idea. wasnt there that terrible chemical brothers remix of something or other from one of the last 2 or 3 crappy mercury rev records?

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 2 May 2005 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, it was of "delta sun" which, again, is kinda house-y on its own. forget the idea you have, perhaps actually listening would be more interesting? it might still be crappy but at least that way you'd have heard it.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 2 May 2005 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i wasted £1 on that record!

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 2 May 2005 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

well, 99p, but, you get the idea. 'tis bad thuogh:(

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 2 May 2005 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

oh the post of yours made it seem like you never heard it.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 2 May 2005 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Now, happy hardcore remixes of "Young Man's Stride" on the other hand..

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 2 May 2005 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

dan, i didnt make it. im sorry. i stayed in and watched "the princess diaries 2" with my mother. its not as good as the original.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 2 May 2005 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

the night at Capones was great - i haven't heard a cheer for Salt n' Pepa like that since 1988! every single track played at that night is brilliant, not sure why i didn't actually get around to dancing. sorry to not have actually talked to you Dan, and for the absence of others here.

In other news Bronx Zoo and Washington Heights are the shit.

Tomorrow: Ellis Island at stupid o clock then a few other things but probably gonna watch the Liverpool/Chelsea game at Nevada Smith's at 2pm. Then we'll see about this Fulton Mall maybe...

m to the stevo, Monday, 2 May 2005 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

ooh you should check out the hipster target at atlantic terminal!

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 2 May 2005 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Tell me about this Nevada Smith's? Oh wait, I won't get in 'til 4:30, never mind.

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 2 May 2005 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Do they show the FSC's Premier league coverage on Saturday mornings?

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 2 May 2005 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i think so. Clancy's on 2nd Avenue (I think) should do too

stevem, nyoik, Monday, 2 May 2005 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

While I don't second checking out hipster target(it's just an annoying Target!) Fulton Mall and the surrounding area is pretty much where I call home.

If on the fulton mall, check out Music Factory, which is close to the downtown brooklyn side, upstairs is a good record store filled with club classics bootlegs and even hi-nrg. My guess is that's where bensonhurst gay djs shop. Further down the street of course is Beat Street. Downstairs is one hell of a hip-hop record store.

If in the area, consider walking over to Fort Greene and checking out BAM, just to say you were there. It's right behind Target. Also consider walking over to Park Slope, either walking down 5th Avenue for dinner or up to Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum's Basquiat exhibit. Apparently on saturday, Fab 5 Freddy is giving a talk about Basquiat, grafitti and the early 80s art scene and it's relationship to the music scene.

There are also good restaraunts near Fulton Mall in Cobble Hill on smith and court streets, though most are over-rated. However, there's a pizza joing called Leonardos way down Court St. that is some of the best super-thin crust pizza I've had in NYC. It's a bit of a trek from Fulton Mall, but a nice one that would take you from downtown brooklyn deep into trendy yet old-school italian Carrol Gardens.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 2 May 2005 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

darn i wish i had tuesday and wednesday off now, i'd walk you around bklyn, steve. i had today off and did that by myself (mostly).

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

While I don't second checking out hipster target(it's just an annoying Target!

i was kidding! if that wasn't obvious.

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 01:01 (twenty-one years ago)

two of my favorite pizzerias in the whole world are on court st: my little pizzeria (near the big barnes & noble) and sam's restaurant (near the big blockbuster).

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

well, since many cobble/boerum hill/park slope and fort greene hipsters go there for supplies, I though you were serious! I bought curtains there. And sheets. That are really uncomfortable.

I used to live directly next door to Sam's Chops. Most of the pizza in the area is good, but Leonardos, which is down near citibank I think, is the best, and I'd never had it in the 4 years I lived on court street. You can eat a pie by yourself no problem.

ok, I can eat a pie by myself no problem.

oh and thanks for the kind words Steve...I thought it was a good mix of stuff, musically. I played Push It, btw!

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i bought cheap speakers at the hipster target. they're not bad actually.

while we're on the carroll gardens tip: the italian bakeries are to die for. there are no better cannoli nor sfingi anywhere in north america.

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

the other night the only hipsters i saw in hipster target were, uh, me and phil two.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

that's like saying "the only politician i saw in the oval office was the president."

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

uh, i dont get it

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

450-some odd people hang out in the oval office?

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

you know I love Carrol Gardens and it's surroundings...but my girlfriend lives in williamsburg, third stop on the L, and they've got some cannoli contenders up there.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

best canoli is in boston, sorry. that's the only thing that city can claim.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

uh, i dont get it

you know that saying, "___ has the strength of ten men?" i was trying to suggest that you and hstencil each have the hipsterness of ten hipsters. or that the president has the politicianness of ten politicians. if the only politician you saw in the oval office was the president, that ain't chicken feed.

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah, i did have pretty good cannoli in bensonhurst too, but that's to be expected.

reno sweeney (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I tht there were pictures? Of something?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Pix now b*tches!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

oh man...swear to God I was supposed to be in that freaking issue. They sent a photographer to do a really annoying photo shoot of me. Well any photos of me annoys me. Then the photographer told me there was an accident with the role of film and we'd have to reschedule, I was frustrated and I never wrote him back. I figured it was a sign of some sort. But man, my father would've been so proud. Or confused.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha! It was so packed. Cute guys, bad DJ, free drinks. I ran into J4mes Fr1edman later in the night at Happy Ending and he was very disappointed at being snubbed! What an opportunity you passed up Dan!

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Selver - HEEB Hot Jew #37. C'mon - You don't need that sh*t. The VOICE interview and photo cannot be topped, my man.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:53 (twenty-one years ago)

That would be "Selzer", mind you.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:54 (twenty-one years ago)

but on judgement day, i think being HEEB Hot Jew #37 will be a much better resume-builder for paradise entry, than the village voice.

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 05:57 (twenty-one years ago)

back home now, not slept since 8am TUESDAY morning. i wish i had known about that Fab 5 Freddy thing. sorry i missed you hstencil and Tracer i realised i should've bought a US Nokia charger only too late i think...

$V£N! (blueski), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Did Lixi have a good time OR WHAT?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

she is alleged to have had COLOSSAL JAPES. so yes.

$V£N! (blueski), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

for those still in NYC, the Fab 5 Freddy talk at the Brooklyn Museum is being followed by a Basquiat themed dance party!

9 p.m.-11 p.m.: Dance Party
Beaux-Arts Court, 3rd Floor

Fab 5 Freddy hosts a dance party of Basquiat's favorite new wave, hip-hop, and pop, featuring DJ B. Dub and other friends of the artist.

Maybe James Fuckin' F. and I will start a young jewish DJ society.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay Cloisters!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 May 2005 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost
eh, the main thing is walking around the park and seeing all that lovely undeveloped land across the river (thanks Mr. Rockefeller!). As for the medieval collection - well, there are better tapestries in Edinburgh, and I think there are some other bauble collections closer to you in, oh, I don't know, Erp.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 May 2005 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I like very much the composition of the one with my apartment building in it

I'm glad you saw/isolated Paley Park, the Con Ed vent/moving van, the mo-NYPeD, the Chrysler lobby and the Palisades

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 6 May 2005 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Mondays are for MoMA

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 6 May 2005 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

There are loads of great photos there, Steve. But we could do with more ILXer pics.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 6 May 2005 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, and more pizza pics too.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 May 2005 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 6 May 2005 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Allyzay do not obtain to make download of yours MP3 (allyzay), Friday, 6 May 2005 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

What a, cloistered, existence you must lead? (sorry)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 May 2005 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 6 May 2005 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

OH NO YOU DIDN'T

Allyzay do not obtain to make download of yours MP3 (allyzay), Friday, 6 May 2005 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, it's a bad habit? (tee hee)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 May 2005 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

teeny (teeny), Friday, 6 May 2005 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, gorgeous shots. Wtf, I'm so out of it, I had no idea anything was even going on. *kicks self*

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 6 May 2005 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

yeh Jeanne i was hoping you'd be around. i didn't hear a peep out of Daddino either despite leaving a msg, and i was wondering if Aaron W was around.

cherry hill! Yay!

i just had to show Alix where you got hitched innit. sadly when we got there it was quite gloomy and there was an old tramp weeing in a bottle on one of the benches. but still a moving scene yes yes oh yay.

you people went all the way up to WHERE I LIVE and did not ring.

it was just a flying visit really, plus i figured you would be sick of the sight of us by then. kudos on the pleasant hood tho.

$V£N! (blueski), Friday, 6 May 2005 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i could've showed you something really fucked up and bizarre! oh well. actually i was writing an essay about female revolutionaries on monday so i couldn't have come out anyway :(

Allyzay do not obtain to make download of yours MP3 (allyzay), Friday, 6 May 2005 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

'Tramp.' How cute...

Jimmy Mod Knows You Eat Your Own Farts (ModJ), Friday, 6 May 2005 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

sadly when we got there it was quite gloomy and there was an old tramp weeing in a bottle on one of the benches

You English people make it sound so picturesque!

in American:
dude, it was kinda f*cked up, there was this old bum with his dick out pissing in his gatorade bottle

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 6 May 2005 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

"It was quite gloomy" = "It was kinda fucked up"

I would like to see more American weather forecasting.

Love the picture of Lixi with the bear on her shoulder.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 9 May 2005 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, that part of the phrase was not a translation of the weather conditions, more a general American preamble to describe something odd or unpleasant.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 9 May 2005 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Well butter my crumpet.

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 9 May 2005 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Also "Sadly, when we got there" = "Dude". This maps more completely, I think.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 09:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Exactly!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't hear a peep out of Daddino either despite leaving a msg

I'm sorry about that. I was...hmmm...let's just say I wasn't in the best mood for calling back, much less coming to the festivities.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Also: FUCK YOU BETA BLOCKERS.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Jesus, you guys did A LOT! For a couple of slackers. Well done.

Perhaps I should start a little thread for my U!S!A! visit.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Since when was I a slacker, Cook? You watch yourself, no good boyo.

Alix with an i? (alix), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Since always, dumbelle. Douse, louse, mouse,

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, you have a point.

Alix with an i? (alix), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)
