She seemed a bit sniffy about my suggested date too, but agreed to it (in a kind of "er, ok, whatever" way), and by that time it felt like it was too late to say "actually, you know what, it's alright, forget it" so now I'm going out with her tomorrow and well, I'm worried.

Ok, I'll be brave, and go. She'll no doubt turn out to be lovely, and we'll get together, and stay together, and get married, and be happy, and then one day she'll see this thread and I'll get dumped and then I'll be sorry won't I, eh?

― Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 06:58 (twenty years ago)
I have some video I shot of us the other night where I kissed her a bit and stuff. She's nice and all, but I just don't much fancy doing anything else with her. I was drunk and enthusiastic for sex, and she professed an intense desire to have sex with me which I reciprocated. Now I'm all like "err sorry I don't really much fancy having sex with you anymore it was just the alcohol" and she's been emailing me and oh god what have I done!!!

― Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 08:10 (twenty years ago)
and
No no no no I knew this would be misinterpreted. We were out at this bizarre nightclub in Laos, and I got my camera out to film some of the Lay kids busting their moves to american rnb, and then I was filming the friends that I was with and the girl decided to give me a big smooch while the camera was pointed at us.

I've only ever been filmed drunk once in my life, (by some annoying film students at art school) and I was shocked. Firstly, because it was proof positive that I really do sound *incredibly* English when I'm drunk. And also because I was, slightly more worryingly, earnestly interviewing a piece of fried chicken at the time.
Ah well. Can't you just pull the "I'm sorry, I was hideously drunk, and... I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND!!!" line and spare yourselves the horror?
― Mrs. Cranky (From Crankytown) (kate), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)
It's funny that you should sound English when you're drunk. I've found that I start sounding more and more American the drunker I get. Ugh.

Well, I doubt it, since her friend was intently pursuing one of my other mates...
What's the big fetish for "sweet and demure" girls anyway?
Who said it was a big fetish? I usually go for the opposite. It's just what she happened to be like, though.

Mind you, my own accent is a strange amalgam of all the very worst aspects of Cockernee and Baaaarksh'r'....
"Some people just aren't great on the phone. On the other hand, I am amazing on the phone but a total fucking bitch in real life!"
Apparently I sound extremely posh on the 'phone.
"I was drunk and enthusiastic for sex, and she professed an intense desire to have sex with me which I reciprocated."
Is it just me is does this narrative leave at least one hugely obvious, frankly enormous question unanswered?

I don't understand what the problem is with the accent.
Well, It wasn't the accent so much as the tone of voice really. I mean I can hardly get sniffy about accents with my yorkshire/manc mix.
BUT! I just spoke to her again, and she sounded...well, a bit nicer this time. Meeting her in about an hour. Fingers crossed!

After all the build-up I really think you owed it to us to report that either:
a) she had turned out to be the love of your life and you were off to start a new life together on a sun-kissed beach; orb) she had turned out to be an insatiable nymphomaniac and you had only just managed to crawl to the computer on your way back from the toilet and were just about to return to pleasuring her in a bewildering variety of differemt possitions; orc) she had turned out to be a completely deranged psychotic maniac and you'd spent the entire night fighting her off and were just off to casualty to get stitches in all the wounds she'd inflicted.

I was stalked by this really drunk guy, who bugged me, I hated him and was really rude to him, but he wouldn't give up, and in the end, after about a million drinks, I kind of gave in and snogged him! And then reluctantly went on a date, and he turned out to be really sweet great guy! Haha we won't get married and have kids tho.

You think? Well yeah, we were in a bar on the river which seemed really vague about table service, sometimes they brought us drinks, other times they ignored us for hours on end. At the end of the night we sat for maybe ten minutes waiting for anyone to walk past who we might be able to pay, and nobody seemed to be around. So we just got up and left, and wandered down the riverside feeling naughty and giggling and stuff. And I think I said something like "ha, I feel really paranoid now, I keep assuming those running footsteps behind us must be somebody coming to get us"...and then it turned out that it was somebody coming to get us. We got accosted by two embarrassed and flustered looking waitresses who'd chased us about 250 yards, and had to cough up the £11 we owed.
